Sometimes I am required by disposition to drop to my knees in thankful and appreciative prayer for the intellectual and honest fellowship on these pages; this is one of those times.
When I describe the nature of our affiliation to those in similar networks, some of those you would likely call familiar, I am often asked why I spend so much time reviewing the commenting section of our diverse conversation on the porch. My answer is the same as the repeated emphasis I provided to those who rescued us from the Big Tech deplatforming effort… “the conversation is the point.”
You are the absolute best group of online people assembled. PERIOD. You are what makes me smile, feel optimistic, feel encouraged and positive about the future amid the whirlwind of chaos generated by the professional political class. Quite simply, you.. that’s right, YOU, are the modern WE THE PEOPLE. Feel good about that as you look at the person you see in the mirror when you brush your teeth. Give yourself credit, you are awesome.
An incredible conversation starts with one simple and profoundly interesting point from Lorrie…
“I teach humanities in a public middle school. The history portion of the curriculum is the study of ancient civilizations. I NEVER espouse either my personal religious or political views — ever!
Yesterday I asked my students to write down — as a quick write– what they knew about our current government– who is in charge… how does it work…
NADA. Zilch.
These kids write every single day in my class.
Many left the paper blank.
Most said, “I don’t know anything about our government.” A few mentioned who the president is.
Hmmmm…..
Ten years ago, I had students yammering their opinions on all sorts of political topics. I realize that usually they were parroting what they hear from family members.
Today, silence.”
Big wisdom follows from Paul:
“I don’t put it on the kids because in your original post you mention that 10 years ago, kids yammered away with opinions. Something shifted. It’s why I asked the question.
This tells me they are not hearing it at home. Their parents are not talking about it. Nor are others around them. Then they spend hours upon hours on their phones on social media.
They are isolated and being manipulated. They just don’t know it. And their parents ignore it because they too, more than likely, have been swallowed by the Borg.
Sad times.”
A simple response, with just as profound an affirmation from Oscar:
“Sad to confirm Paul but everything you say is true and has swallowed up my 20 yo daughter. The self isolation and 100% reliance on her phone for information is beyond disturbing to me. I pay for her phone because it helps her keep her job. I’m seriously thinking of pulling the plug and forcing her to pay phone expenses.
I speak with her regularly regarding current events, Gaza, Biden, etc. but have a hard time staying calm. She doesn’t read anything other than what’s spoon fed her through her iphone. She has zero historical context or background for any of her communist inspired rhetoric. She is completely manipulated. Her two brothers are complete MAGA and know what’s happening.
Her older sister is Lib and will not change due to peer pressure among the elite crowd in NYC that she works and socializes with. Obviously, my experience has been much tougher with my two daughters. I used to believe that a liberal is a future conservative once they age, pay taxes and are mugged by reality. My daughter in NYC has been mugged once by herself visiting DC and again in DC with her hyper lib, former college roommate (all within the last 18 months) and they both are still Lib. I will never give up on them. I constantly send them conservative, logical articles (VDH is a favorite) and I always try to lead by example.”
Please, if you are so inclined, let us continue this conversation in this breakout post.
There is large value within this discussion and trust me – I, along with millions of like-minded mules, some with a profound reach and beyond your imagining importance, read every single word with contemplation, introspection and appreciation.
♦ Last point. When you drop a stone into a pond a ripple is created. The ripple expands in an ever-increasing circle. Once you drop the stone, there is no way to reverse the process of the ripple expanding. Such is the pond of life and ultimately the love, wisdom and value you drop within it.
This simple fellowship we call The Conservative Treehouse exists, because of you – not me, YOU.
You are the point.
You are the value.
You are the gift.
Feel that…. along with my profound appreciation for your incredible value.
Love to all.
Steadfast,
~ Sundance

Sundance, CTH, this is the only “must read” sight for me. And, yes, the conversations are worth the time to read. Sometimes, after i read some of these posts I don’t feel the need to post. The thoughts are so like my own adding my own comments seems unnecessary. I can feel the frustration in some and I know we sometimes go down the rabbit hole, but ultimately, in it’s totality, it’s all a brilliant exercise. I continue to “drop a pebble” when I can and, bless my soul, I see some ripples. I’m ready for what’s next.
I’ve said for a long time that one of the top things we need to change is the education system. From K through PhD. I watched as the junior high and high school corrupted my stepdaughter so badly that she believed the lies from the teachers over the truth from her mom. When she went to college, the indoctrination continued and was reinforced by cliques and peer pressure. She is now in the working class but still hasn’t completely moved over to conservative values. The liberalism takes root and is very hard to remove. She’s slowly seeing things as they are, not as she’s been spoon fed.
The education system is a major problem. Everyone focuses on the politicians, DC, the swamp, and the Uniparty. Yeah, it’s a major problem, too. But fix it and overlook education and we’ll be right back here in no time at all. The third major problem is the “Press” aka “Media”. I include Twitter, Facebook, etc as “Media”. It’s the new journalistic output.
Those three are so intertwined that to try to unravel one, you must work on the other two or nothing will get fixed. For example, trying to force the education system to remove “identity politics” requires gov’t intrusion (laws). But you also need to stop Media from strengthening the liberalistic indoctrination so the teachers and students have less spoon-fed socialism thrust upon them. Another example is … where are the teachers coming from? Mandatory University Teaching Degrees. It’s a cyclical mass indoctrination campaign to keep reinforcing socialistic values. Breaking that cycle requires gov’t intrusion (laws) into that system.
It’s a convoluted mess at this point that’s taken decades to get here. It wasn’t done overnight and will take decades to fix. It all starts at the local and state level. It’s why I say we need to focus there. Start getting the right constitutionally minded candidates elected and hired in local and state level positions. It’s been a pleasure to see all the winning in the U.S. at the school board elections. That provides hope that things can change. and there’s been a lot of little things that have brightened the days.
People are “fighting” (non-violent). In that, we definitely have some hope. It’s the long game now.
Exactly, we are funding our own Communisation of the young via public annd private education.
10th plank of The Ten Planks of the Communist Manifesto
She doesn’t read anything that is not spoon fed her through her iPhone. – Oscar
the smartphone, here an iPhone, is a major force in social isolation and the manipulation of thought in the 21st Century. The smartphone is the single greatest tool of oppression in the history of mankind. Covid took social isolation or atomization to a whole new level. If you believe, as many of us do, in the lab theory of COVID-19’s origins, you get a very dark worldview where the need to control people is paired with technology designed to do so. In the old days they used to say shoot your television, now they give people thousand dollar smartphones. Why?
Bread and
circusessmartphones.Really guys? Here’s another way to look at it. Without your smartphone, without your broadband, you’d be aware of nothing. This place couldn’t exist. There could be a battle going on 10 miles from your house, and you would not even know it was happening
Two things:
I like it here at CTH, however, I would take the trade off.
Perhaps you have yet to consider that smartphone is a device built to keep one uninformed.
Example, although anecdotal, what I used to have come to me on my smartphone because of my user habit, doesn’t come anymore. I have to go find it. So, if what I once knew was a war between Ukraine and Russia just disappears from my smartphone radar, did the war end? Did Russia and Ukraine make nice and diplomatically resolve their problems? Not in the least.
What has happened is that Russia/Ukraine just is not published now as before. Almost taboo. And, off the minds of all.
That is just one example.
Granted the Internet provides great opportunity to publish information, however, provides even greater opportunity for censorship. No matter how much bandwidth one might have available.
Starfcker is correct.
The smartphone is NOT the cause for the mass ignorance among the younger three generations. The laziness to search for truth is the problem. The ignorance of the existence of truth that does not agree with the MSM approved narratives nor the BS / historical fiction being pushed by academia is yet another major problem.
I can get just as much Truth and solid facts via my iPhone as I can get via my Apple laptop. But I have to know how to structure the search string in order to avoid the massive censorship and filters that Big Tech have permanently built into the popular search engines.
Give the kids a long list of alternative news websites (sorted in your preference) and recommend a few popular ones to your teen or adult children; ones that typically have shorter articles with pictures. Gateway Pundit comes to mind. It’s a good step away from social media but still often offers links to social media accounts or a social media post from which the story was generated.
I have a memory of my elderly mother in the 1980’s asking me what a computer was.. I immediately told her it was..” the end of our world” I have mixed feelings about the good, versus the bad.Without my phone I would never have the pleasure of this wonderful site and my hero,SUNDANCE….
I dream of the possibility of face to face fellowship where all parties leave their blasted phones at home!
In fact, it seems much of the interpersonal communication for churches is done digitally.
In one church we visited, the pastor took a picture of the congregants during worship time, presumably to post on some website.
Aaargh. So cringe. Drop the apps, pastor!
Even my lamentation is digital. Blast.
Maybe the FBLie pays extra for facial recognition information.
Oscar, who sounds like a good man, says that he pays for his daughters phone because she needs it for her job.
Perhaps a 20 year old working adult should start paying for most all of their stuff, especially if it brings grief and worry to the parents who are footing the bill for this adult while grown adult uses the pone they do not pay for to absorb ideas that the paying parents are worred and upset about.
When each of my daughters turned 12, they came to live with me, as I divorced their mom.
When they came to live with me, they did not know how to make a bowl of cereal or pb sandwich, as their mother had done that for them.
Within 6 mos. they were doing theirvown grocery shopping, cooking their own meals, washing their own laundry etc.
Seems to me your job as a parent is to encourage your child to grow up, which means taking on the responsibilities OF a grown up.
I’m sorry but I can not fathom paying for a 20 y.o.’s cell phone, it just boggles my mind.
If a kid doesn’t tell you “I’m bored” at least a few times a month you aren’t doing it right.
And the iPhone uses Apple News to feed the headlines to the zombies.
Of course, every story is anti-MAGA and pro-Libtard. Therefore, all the zombies have been brainwashed.
You know what else atomizes society? Marvel superhero movies, which condition the normie masses to think that some super-empowered individual is going to save the day and they won’t have to do anything, except maybe applaud.
The great thing about CTH is the emphasis on fellowship, working together while also working separately.
Breitbart:
Research psychologist Dr. Robert Epstein is launching America’s Digital Shield, a website that exposes Big Tech meddling in the 2024 elections through real-time “ephemeral manipulation” that can shift millions of votes.
Epstein announced the release of a “public data dashboard” that shows how Big Tech giants like Google, Bing, and Yahoo are manipulating online content to influence votes in the elections, according to a press release sent to Breitbart News.
The new public dashboard, named America’s Digital Shield can be viewed here.
Scroll down on that page to see the 2 maps of the US – showing the TYPE of info sent to people in each state.
I believe in what they’re doing, but not having anything on their methodology page… I mean that should have been the first thing they posted.
Good point. Sounds like it might be proprietary – and you can understand why.
FTA: The findings presented by Epstein, a Harvard-trained senior research psychologist at the American Institute for Behavioral Research and Technology (AIBRT), raise concerns about the integrity of the democratic process amid Big Tech corporations’ ability to wield unparalleled amounts of power with regards to public consumption of online content.
“If we don’t stop them, Google alone will be able to shift between 6.4 and 25.5 million votes in the 2024 Presidential election,” Epstein said.
The findings are based on “a sophisticated proprietary monitoring system his research team has been developing since 2016” that tracks “ephemeral experiences,” which are “short-lived online content that can alter perceptions and behaviors before disappearing without a trace,” the press release explained.

I see this as a possible tool to help explain the bias in articles which the less-informed are seeing.
I do think that charismatic people like Joe Rogan, and even Elon are a conduit to the minds of the Tik Tok generation.
(YouTube has something similar called ‘Shorts’, while Facebook has something similar called ‘Reels.’)
Heres the challenge Epstien had to address.
Pick any search term, doesn’t matter what,…and fo a search on a specific search engine, again doesn’t matter which one.
Take a ‘screenshot’ of the results. Wait 1, 5 and 10 minutes, and use the SAME search engine, to search the SAME search terms, and you will see DIFFERENT results
We have all experienced this.
So, HOW do you ‘prove’ intentional manipulation of search results?
You can pull up your ‘search history’, but not the RESULTS of that srarch history.
What Epstien did, was develop an app that could be loaded onto volonteers phones/laptops, and that recorded the search RESULTS so his team could then analyse them.
He found that irregardless an individuals political views, they got search results with a definite leftward bias 75-85% of the time. This was ADULTS.
He then got parents of children with iphones to allow the app to be installed on their phones, and found the childrens search results were leftward biased 100% of the time.
Going from memory of an article I read on his work…
Oh boy! Now I’m crying. Happy tears! I have been reading/lurking on this site for years. YOU and ALL the treepers keep me grounded and going day by day in this insane world! Thank YOU Sundance everyday in every way for hosting this incredible website that brings us all together in thought, inspiration, community, and friendship!
I too have been reading here for years. First comment was yesterday. So many here write what I’m thinking and have not yet put into words…. Dutchman is always a favorite of mine.
Thank you all for writing what I’m thinking. Most of the other things I do on my phone are just a distraction.. CTH is food for my soul.
Welcome, Gonzo NC!
Thank you for the hat tip, and thank you both for venturing into nrw territory, by posting a comment.
Seeing a lot of “long time lurker, first time commenting” and its great to see.
I think it is not only the inherent respect for the TRUTH (“Truth has no agenda, and doesn’t care about your feelings!”) that Sundance exhibits and promotes, that makes this the most viewed blog on the i-net.
It is the profound respect he has for his audience, not only exhibited in THIS article, but in everything he posts.
I am also a “dutch man” and have been around since President Trump came down the escalator. Obamacare was the final straw for me and over the years I could see the media was spinning tales rather than giving us the news.
Instead of lurker, I always preferred spectator. I see names of fellow travellers all over the internet and it is always like old home week when I see one even though we have never met.
Kudo’s from a beautiful state run by some ugly people.
“Food for the soul” well said.
A surgeon in the USAF taught me, in my 20’s, that giving everything to disadvantaged people is what actually hurts them in the long run. That was the day I became a Republican. Thank you, Dr., wherever you are.
I was a “liberal” up to campaigning for George McGovern, going door to door in Benton Harbor, Michigan, which was the welfare capital of Southwestern Michigan. It didn’t take walking up to very many 2nd story apartments past paper bags of garbage just tossed down the stairs to rethink pretty much everything I thought I knew about welfare, liberalism, and Democrats. I quickly became a reliable Republican vote up until 2015 when Sundance opened my eyes wide to the Uniparty and the illusion of choice that we Republicans had been spoon fed for decades. As my first choice for President back then, Sarah Palin, got on board the MAGA train and gave Our President a huge boost in Iowa, I climbed aboard the MAGA train with her. Haven’t looked back as we turn the GOP into the GOPm, banishing the GOPe to the dustbin of history where they belong.
I think it has been attributed to Ben Franklin…give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime….
Exactly! I learned long ago that love is teaching people -including disadvantaged or/and disabled–even if it takes a while– how to do as much as they are able. It brings a sense of independence and self respect and helps eliminate the victim mentality.
And, teach him to cook fish [properly] not too dry, not undone, and he can work! There’s a concept lost on the young-uns. [Tongue in cheek, Aggiegirl, nothing aimed at you].
I was trying to explain something technical to a youngster [25ish] a bit back, about truthful information being suppressed, only garbage cominng out of the MSM. His response, “Just a sec, let me ghougle it”. Ha!
They cannot learn unless they WANT to learn. GOD calls it ‘willful ignorance’.
Governments have become a robotic machine of liars. Some know they are liars but it seems that many do not and just repeat what they hear.
Since a person can only hear the loudest noise in the room, we need to drown out the liars.
We need to get louder. A lot louder. And bring two buckets of sand!
Any govt organization with a PAO and specific spokesperson is a spin machine.
When I was younger, I used to wonder why did someone have to go to camp or on a trip to volunteer somewhere to have a life-changing encounter with God. Why couldn’t God speak to us in our daily life?
It may be obvious to others, but I’ve learned that it is not God that can’t speak to us in our normal routines. It is WethePeople who are not listening.
To reach the next generation (or anyone for that matter), the normal must be interrupted. It’s like how a family learns to laugh together again over a board game during a prolonged power outage.
Our family favorite is Secret Hitler – where the options are ‘Fascist’ or ‘Liberal.’
This is a great point. I used to wonder why anyone had to go to church to meet God, because he’s everywhere. Totally along the lines of what you were mentioning, it’s about removing all the distractions and listening/obeying.
An acquaintance attended a conservative Christian church in a town of about 30,000. His adult Bible study group always planned an overseas “mission” trip to help people in other countries for a week. I recommended that they instead used that same money (airfare, ground transportation, hotel and food) to help those needy folks within their own community. He thought this was great idea and introduced the idea to the group.
What was the result? His idea was immediately shot down and ridiculed by members of the group. They wanted to do some traveling doing their “mission” work. Luckily for them the beach was not far from the “mission” site.
He left that church the next week.
In order for the Globalist Fascist Oligarchy to finally achieve their centuries old goal of a One-World Global Empire they must first accomplish two prerequisite goals:
1. The “Great Collapse of Society” using the methods propounded by the Frankfurt School.
2. The abolition of the US Constitution that legitimizes the USA as an independent sovereign nation-state, and that guarantees and protects citizen’s personal liberty, personal rights, and personal property ownership.
The only thing standing in the way of the Globalist Fascist Oligarchy achieving their goal of a NWO One-World Global Empire is the US Constitution that legitimizes the USA as an independent sovereign nation-state, and guarantees and protects each citizen’s personal liberty, personal rights, and personal property ownership. Donald Trump is the leader and standard bearer of the “America First MAGA Patriots” movement that holds the US Constitution in its fist and waves it in the faces of the Deep State RINO Establishment and the Globalist Fascist Oligarchy. This is why the Globalists have declared Donald Trump as their Enemy No. 1 who must be destroyed in any manner possible, legal or not, at all costs. Enemy No. 2 is anyone who supports Trump.
The “Great Collapse of Society”
“The Frankfurt School and “Critical Theory”
The “Frankfurt School,” or Institute for Social Research, was set up by a group of Marxist intellectuals in Germany in 1923, affiliated to the University of Frankfurt and independently of the Communist Party, which has been influential in the development of Marxist theory ever since.
The Frankfurt School believed that as long as an individual had the belief – or even the hope of belief – that his divine gift of reason could solve the problems facing society, then that society would never reach the state of hopelessness and alienation that they considered necessary to provoke socialist revolution. Their task, therefore, was as swiftly as possible to undermine the Judeo-Christian legacy. To do this they called for the most negative destructive criticism possible of every sphere of life which would be designed to de-stabilize society and bring down what they saw as the ‘oppressive’ order. Their policies, they hoped, would spread like a virus—‘continuing the work of the Western Marxists by other means’ as one of their members noted.
To further advance their ‘quiet’ incremental cultural revolution (Fabian Socialism) – but giving us no ideas about their plans for the future – the School recommended (among other things):
Divide and Conquer.
The oppressed and their oppressors.
1. The creation of racism offenses.
2. Continual change to create confusion.
3. The teaching of sex and homosexuality to children.
4. The undermining of schools’ and teachers’ authority.
5. Huge immigration to destroy identity.
6. The promotion of excessive drinking/drug abuse.
7. Emptying of churches.
8. An unreliable legal system with bias against victims of crime.
9. Dependency on the state or state benefits.
10. Control and dumbing down of media.
11. Encouraging the breakdown of the family.
One of the main ideas of the Frankfurt School was to exploit Freud’s idea of ‘pan-sexualism’ – the search for pleasure, the exploitation of the differences between the sexes, the overthrowing of traditional relationships between men and women. To further their aims they would:
• attack the authority of the father, deny the specific roles of father and mother, and wrest away from families their rights as primary educators of their children.
• abolish differences in the education of boys and girls
• abolish all forms of male dominance – hence the presence of women in the armed forces
• declare women to be an ‘oppressed class’ and men as ‘oppressors.’

When I was in college, I was force fed “change is good” or “change is inevitable”…..Anyone else?
All summed up in a short ‘belief’:
GOD bad, government good.
They hate anything good, right, and associated with the teachings of our Heavenly Father.
The U.S. Constitution is only as good as the men living in each generation: if the men are cowards, fools, or liars, the Constitution is useless, as we’ve seen so many times from a host of Supreme Court Justices.
And Communism is just yet another Christian heresy, fabricating a imbecilic narrative of violence, moralism and despair.
God won’t allow us to go totally down the drain. He’s the reason we won’t totally self-destruct. Not totally. There’s always a remnant, a “7,000 who have not bent the knee to Ba’al”.
In this discussion of our children, it depends on the child. Some have critical thinking skills and some not. I sent dozens of emails to my children, just over 30yr, and friends in 2020 as I saw the data on COVID did not support the government lockdown/response. Both were skeptical of my warnings not to get the vaccine, but then 12mos later one son surprised me with his insight. How he developed it, we have not had much chance to discuss. The other has backed his teacher’s union statement that older white men should be exterminated. Have not spoken since.
I think you can lead children to think for themselves but don’t expect them to think like yourself. In nature vs nurturer, it is the nature which wins.
Sad about your daughter. How anyone can square extermination of a group for age and skin color with correctness or humanity is beyond me.
You make a good point about teching children to think for themselves but not to be surprised if they do not think lik us.
Often they must learn the hard way buy suffering the consequense of their choices which are usually based on how they think.
Some times life and experience is the best and hardest teacher.
As long as they are cushioned from the results of their ideas and behavior their learning curve will move much much slower.
Where many of these grown children are right now today is probably not where they will be in ten or 20 years.
We may or may not be alive to see this.
Every important and valuable life lesson I have learned, came about as a ditect resultt of me being “wrong” and so making bad choices.
What we BELIEVE is a CHOICE, although many fail to grasp that.
Some of these lessons were EXTREMELY painful, but the LESSON learned,…priceless.
So, not doing our children any favors, by shielding them from experiencing the negative consequences of their decisions…
Nobody ever said being a parent was supposed to be EASY,..
“Experience is the best teacher in life, as long as it doesn’t kill you.”
This, I heard from my grandfather, many years ago.
I disagree, Nature doesn’t win.
Each child is some mixture of nature and nurture and that indefinable quality that is the individual.
Hence, you can see two siblings even twins with very different views, one child becoming an alcoholic abuser, just like their Dad, “because its how they were raised” and yet the other who will NEVER be an acoholic abuser, also “because of how they were raised”.
Its that unique, individual “3rd component” that makes it interesting, and insures humans can not be programmed like computers.
I can see how Gen Z would be completely taken in with this type of propganda
Feed hostage with cute puppy.
Ths is a crazy follow up story:
You could ask a teen or older adult – why would this have worked out?
Hamas Releases American Hostage Whose Family Purchased Hunter Biden’s Art
This can’t be a coincidence.
https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2023/11/28/hamas-releases-american-hostage-whose-family-purchased-hunter-bidens-art/
It’s not a coincidence. They’re not even trying to hide their corruption anymore.
“What are you gonna do? Throw us out of office? Arrest us? Lolz.” ~ The Ruling Class
And since when do Muslims think dogs are good?
I thought obama said they were tasty or tough? Can’t remember which it was?
A VERY good point!
iPhone vs reading. Met an older history professor who only reads books and paper, no online stuff. Yet, he gets it and acutely tracks our steady fall with a depth of understanding that’s laudable. He, like Sundance is a critical deep thinker who researches the issues and builds upon hard long-learned wisdom. Keep up the fight Treepers!
At one time, our main method of communicating, was by MAIL.
I write you a letter, it takes weeks or months to arrive.
You READ the letter, once, twice over. You set it aside, and maybe think about it for hours, days or even weeks.
When you write your reply, you have time to ponder, collect/formulate your thoughts, write and re-write until you feel confident you are expressing yourself clearly, before sealing and mailing your reply.
Now, we check and reply to emails and texts within seconds, with very little thought. Our whole perception of TIME is so very distorted.
Embrace God.
This is all a chance to honor him and our families and friends. It’s our responsibility to do so.
This isn’t about political parties or anything else. It’s about living with the grace of God!
People who pray and read the Bible may well be a blind spot for the globalists because they think it’s wishful thinking and don’t know the power of living in the will of God.
On the other hand, if there’s a genuinely Satanist core leading the way, then they know right well that this is war and they are having their attempts to implement the complete agenda frustrated because God is holding them back until it suits his purpose (worldwide judgement).
They are definitely a ‘Satanist core leading the way’. Jesus wasn’t being obtuse in His description of the Kenites:
Mat. 12:34 “O generation of vipers,
Mat. 13:39 “The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest…the end of the world…
Many overlook the relevance of this to our generation.
Jer. 39:16 “...I will bring My words…for evil…not for good…before thee.”
Isa. 40:5 “...all flesh shall see it together…the LORD hath spoken it.”
Naysayers say something like, ‘That’s taken out of context.” When one understands, one realizes, nothing is ‘out of context anymore.
2 Tim. 3:16 “All Scripture is…for instruction…“
This discussion re generational ignorance is much needed. Have 2 MEGA sons & one semi left daughter. We babysit her 1 y/o a couple days a week. The hours I spend with her little boy are filled with older “Church songs” we play on the TV or cell. Point being, no matter the ignorance being instilled in a whole lot of people (daughter) we can still ensure solid grounding and knowledge can be passed on to those around us. We still have to live our best lives and be lights to those being blasted by ignorance
Opposites attract in my case. I came from a politically active conservative family whose parents were Reagan delegates in both the 1980 and 84 elections and attended both election balls (formal dinner dances) by personal invitation by President Reagan. I can remember being the “only” republican in my classroom in 1978 when were asked about politics in a government-type class.
My wife – we were married in 1982 she was 18 and I was 22 came from a very liberal family of staunch Democrats. I/we moved with her family from Michigan to California and just a few years after marriage, while working as a UPS driver a fellow driver introduced me to this guy out of Sacramento named Rush. While dating and after marriage my wife and I politely debated all the time. We loved to travel especially to the National Parks throughout California. During our many drives we had a policy of whomever was driving controlled the radio so of course I would always tune into Rush. It was those many long drives listening to Rush that taught my liberal wife just what common-sense conservatism was really all about. She is not even more conservative than I am. Her father, whom was very brilliant chief boiler inspector for the Department of the Navy knew I was an avid follower of Milton Friedman introduced me to him at a seminar/speech by Friedman at the MENSA club in San Francisco. I believe my father in-law also became a small “r” Republican later in life.
As far as my 3 children go they were all brought up listening to Rush and are all very proud Rush babies. My daughter was the only one who was subjected to attempted liberal indoctrination in college. She’s an artist, but made it through without too much trouble but the pressure was there.
For the last 27 years I have owned my own exterior remodeling business back in Michigan. We moved back to Michigan after spending 16 years in California. Escaped when gang related activity began to move into the neighborhood. There was just too many people to raise a family in that type of environment so we moved back to where I grew up where everyone knows their neighbor and watches out for each other.
Always took our children with us on vacations of which there were many even during the school year as most of our travels included history, museums, National Landmarks as well as National Parks. It was my belief that our children would remember each of those vacations in detail rather than what they would have learned sitting in class. Of course this subjected them to many hours of Rush and our political discussions.
All of our children are now married to polite, intelligent well mannered conservatives:)
When I am not spending time on my successful business I am politically active funding, writing and supporting local candidates and speaking for those who are too afraid to say what needs to be said. Doesn’t hurt my business at all as while I am known to tell the truth even when that is not what people want to hear if you do it politely even those who oppose your opinion do so respectively.
I have a degree from the University of Texas.
But my education started when I immigrated to what was then a sane UK, alas no more. When we made the decision to come back to the States, we did so reluctantly, so content were we in Wales. But looking around corners as best as we could, we realized that as we were growing older, we needed to be nearer to family in case/when things started to go south (as they always do as we age).
It was not easy to pack up and move…and when we arrived I knew instantly that this country was not the same one I had left twenty years ago. Things have degraded even faster since. We felt upended and disconnected.
But Almighty God, ever in charge, knew what we did not.
We moved within a stones throw from our daughter and her infant boys (a sister came later). I told her we would not camp out on her doorstep, but if she ever needed us we would be available; otherwise, we wouldn’t interfere with her ordered life…at the time. About four years later, she was compelled to return to work, something she hadn’t foreseen…and so I became, so happily, a huge part of our grandchildren’s lives as they grew.
I picked them all up from school from the time they were in kindergarten and started bombarding them with all sorts of information about life, behaviour, manners, how to be aware of and treat others. As they got older, I added politics, economics, history, and advice about questioning everything they were being taught. As they were in a moving car, I had a captive audience. There was no escape. I saw my God given chance to be an influence, and I took it.
The twin grandlads are graduating this year, and their sister is only two years behind them. I am pleased…well, more than pleased…to report that my efforts have born beautiful fruit.
Older people are given short shrift. We are considered anachronisms, past our useful sell by dates. But contrary to received government balderdash, we have so much to offer by virtue of having knowledge (no longer taught in schools of indoctrination) and experience in how to negotiate the pitfalls in life which snare us every one at one time or another…
That’s enough rabbiting on from me. Suffice it to say God planted us where he knew we would be needed.
Our beloved three (out of nine, those three nearest to us) will make their own mistakes in this unsettled world. But we’ve done our best to equip them to meet those challenges and to not go gently into hostile environs without an enquiring mind and the ability to recognize and question the propaganda they will face.
Grandparents have their uses.
We are grateful 🙏🏻
That’s an awesome story Betsy! Congratulations on great accomplishments.
I have always believed that the “older folks” have much WISDOM to pass on…experiences, trial-and-error, successes and failures and the lessons learned by all. Critical thinking and the ability to stand by one’s convictions and desperately needed right now. Sure sounds like you have passed those on!!
Their name for me , which they came up with and which we could never figure out how, is “Bucca”.
Recently they told me that in every situation where they find themselves wondering the best course to take, they ask, ” WWBD??”
Translation… “What Would Bucca Do??”
My work here is done, newtreeperPA 😁
Hook ’em, Horns!!!
WOOHOO!!!!
Betsy,
I raised my son the same way. Its all about communication and it starts at home.
I’m happy to report he is a well rounded individual with a big heart and a good head on his shoulders and he can think for himself.
Exactly so, Toolnut!! There is no job under the sun more important or crucial than rearing a child in the ways we wish them to go, with Almighty God as his Lodestar.
Well done you!!!
Good job Gramma! I too took it as a personal mission to be the best gramma I could be – very involved and teach them as much as I can. I want them to have the wonderful memories to fall back on when they are adults and assaulted from every direction.
That’s how I approached my blessed position, too, BFAW. The time allotted to us to accomplish what we can is short. Too short…there is no pause button. They are here…and then they’re gone. Even now, as they increasingly have their own busy lives so that our opportunities to see them diminish, when I think of something they need to know, I will text it to them. Call it “continuing education.” I am hoping that what they have been taught they will pass on to whatever children of their own they have. Keeping the memories alive… like you, I pray they will be good ones.
Epic
Fabulous testimony! Just awesome, well done!

Therefore, it is up to Patriots who are the children’s parents and relatives to teach the true history of the founding of the USA, the principles and ideals and ideologies that actually guided the Founders, and the opposition that the Founders had to overcome in order to achieve a nation based upon personal Liberty, personal Rights, and personal Prosperity for everyone.
The following books are a must-read for all Patriots, and that should be shared with the nation’s children and future generations.

Never has the truth been harder to find than in the “information” age.
If you read American history as I do, keep your best what I call reference books. Something you can go back to if someone tries to feed you garbage. Always keep that knowledge in your house and in your head to fight the revisionist history being thrown at us.
One thing I have learned is most liberals don’t know anything about their own country. Probably goes hand in hand with not liking their country.j
A bizarre story. I’m a believer in what you said here, I live it. I had a store many years ago, heard an interview with Mike Holler on am radio. He was awesome, wrote & sold a paperback called ‘The Constitution Made Easy’. I called him after the show, we spoke at length. I ordered a gross [144] of his books on the spot. Got 1 right here.
$8.95 retail right on the back cover. Thought I would make it better known on these pages. I sold some at cost, but when I met a really great customer, after determining they had their ‘head on right’, I would often give them a free copy. Always appreciated by the recipient.
So. I wanted to make certain they were still ‘out there’ before I recommend it. Just checked several retailers. All of them, they have ‘used’ copies, or new, at over 80 bucks each! Just 1 example:

WTH?! No wonder it’s difficult to educate the masses, they’re pricing common sense publishing out of the market. Wierd times.
Only for those individuals who are willfully ignorant.
But, hasn’t it always been that way?
See the post above your post.
When Moses talked with GOD at the burning bush, he asked, ‘who do I tell them sent me’? Egypt had so many gods that Truth had been lost. You, Sundance, have kept me from absorbing lies since I started following The Tree House back in 2016. Love and hugs from my heart to yours.
“Tell them, I AM WHO AM, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”
Sundance. a heartfelt thankyou for all you do.
More and more I think that women voting and the 19th amendment was a mistake.
Too many women virtue signal by voting when they know absolutely nothing about the candidates beyond the superficial blather of celebrities.
Without the 19th amendment, no Clinton, no Obama, no Biden.
I am female. I have been on my own since I was 16 – starting with NOTHING. It’s a tough world, but not as tough as the ‘home’ I left. No help from charity or government, just made it in the world like everyone else who started out with nothing and kept slogging. A couple of degrees and graduate degrees later I would learn to fly, build a business because people openly admitted to not hiring women pilots then, and actually made it to the top in aviation and then law. I would have taken umbrage at Chieftain’s comment once, but for some attitude adjustment moments from my exposure to other women. At the airlines I met the sheltered women, the ones who are usually secondary breadwinners, for whom appearance ‘is’ reality – because someone pays them for appearance.
I knew the world was coming to a rapid end when I heard a flight attendant’s sincere opinion about whether or not the US should go after Saddam Hussein. We were on the verge of World War III and what mattered to her was his bad taste in the way he dyed his hair for the cameras ! I was speechless as I realized that was her thought process — and she votes. And there are millions like her.
How do the men think? My brother has been jabbed multiple times and he believes that FJB is his legitimate president.
He’s a socialist who seethes with jealousy at those whose hard work had paid off. He wants to sink all boats and yank everybody else down to his level of misery and sloth.
There are millions like him, too.
The bell curve overlaps, but without the women vote, especially single women, no Biden, No Obama.
The natural interest of most women is different from the natural interest of most men and that has real consequences in governance.
It is my opinion that men disengaged from politics largely do not vote. Women similarly disengaged, however do vote.
I know successful business women with college degrees who couldn’t care less about politics, but they vote nonetheless based upon the most superficial criteria. It’s a numbers thing. There ARE women who do the work, but far fewer than men. I think it is because of a difference in interests and world perspective. There is too much emphasis on voting without any research. It has made the act of voting a civic honor regardless of the effort to formulate a reasoned opinion. That is why the Democrats do everything possible to make it easy to vote and simultaneously try to censor and shut up any views outside of their party’s policy position of the moment. That why Harry Reid can lie and with the help of the overwhelmingly Democrat MSM get away with it.
Thank the government indoctrination centers (better known as “public schools”).
Schooling is NOT education.
LOL
Silly you. I am a woman. I vote. I don’t “virture signal” about anything. I am a thinker and a doer.
I do understand the sentiment I think you are trying to convey, if you are being genuine.
However, I shall remind you sir that shifting the blame never works.
That is what makes the situation difficult. There are women who think and research candidates, but my statement holds up when looking at a statistical group. How to change this? I think human nature plays a large role here.
I think a few simple changes would help immensely.
(1) Require people to register to vote at the City or County Clerks office at least 30 days in advance of the election (if people cannot be bothered to physically travel to a readily accessible place near their home they have no business voting. Motor voter was just another Democrat ploy to get the politically ignorant, emotion fueled people to vote.
(2) Require a simple civil test be taken and passed to be registered. It need not be complicated.
A few questions such as:
If a citizen cannot be bothered to learn and retain the answers to those 7 questions before taking a test for registering to vote, then the country, state, city is better off with them not voting. AND no mail in test. The test must be in person at the clerk’s office, with no “helper,” no notecard. Will this test “disenfranchise” people? Only those that ought to be disenfranchised.
(3) Verify registered voters still live at their listed address every three years.
The above would help restore the quality of governance in our country.
As a group, they do not suppport individual freedom and prefer an authoritarian, conformist society. For most of human history people knew that. The Progressives realized they could never enact their agenda without the 19th Amendment.
Good grief! You must have been exposed to some pretty weak women, if you mean women by use of the word “they”.
And, none of the men who are championing Nicki Haley, or Tulsi Gabbard were responding because of the womens appearance, right?
Idiots and assholes come in all colors and genders.
Way to promote UNITY, the ONE and ONLY thing that can defeat tyranny (sarc.).
Public school does a great job of making the act of voting something worthy of praise. It does a terrible job of making understood the the techniques of propaganda and the necessity for rational reasoned examination of candidates positions and history.
I know many strong women, many intelligent women. I also know many intelligent women who agree with my statement based upon THEIR experience with MOST other women.
When I was in high school I remember an english teacher talking to us about Communism, and one of my classmates piped up with “communism only works in theory, but not in practice.”
At the time, I was deeply ashamed that I wasn’t so bold to trash Communism myself. But decades later, the memory still sticks and I wonder many things.
One: Did that classmate really have those views (and I have no evidence one way or the other), or were they the views he adopted from his parents and now he’s adopted new views? Further right? Far left? No idea. I just wonder.
Two: My dad (mom doesn’t do politics) is left-leaning, but he used to listen to Rush Limbaugh in the car. Somehow I ended up in the Treehouse so you know where my politics lie.
It’s weird how certain moments in life stick with you. And I would bet that not a single classmate remembers that moment the way I do, or even at all.
For me, I have always felt a failure in myself, not to change the teacher’s mind or the class’s mind. Who cares what that particular class ultimately believes? But the failure to be bold is the thing I regret.
I do feel confident and bold as I’ve gotten older and I hope I’ve done a good job of exercising that throughout my adult life.
When the covid “response” was happening, I had to wear a mask to go into the courthouse (I’m a lawyer).
I took the mask off as soon as I got through security and not a single judge or other lawyer confronted me, and the only confrontation I got was from another lawyer who “fist-bumped” me and said “thanks, I can’t do it but I’m glad you are.”
I don’t know what my point is here, honestly, I’ve had a bit too much communion today. I’m glad to be part of this community.
When I was in high school, in Winnetka, Illinois, in 1974 a history teacher taught us about the 20th century. She made a big thing about the efficiencies of large scale modern farming, and explained how modern Stalin was, and how the stupid ignorant peasants just were not smart enough and instead stubbornly resisted progress. None of it meant anything to me at the time, but I remembered it.
If anyone knows any good sources about the role of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) work in the public schools, please share the cite. Looking back I can see their presence in upper middle class public schools in the 70s.
In 1996 I bought my first farm. A lot has come out about the massive famines organized by Stalin, but I have witnessed Big Ag destroy family farms, environments, ecosystems and cause deterioration in the American diet firsthand. Whatever the heck it is — it is not ‘efficient’. None of the urban or degreed people get it.
Best book is “The Farming Ladder” by George Henderson which clearly shows how small farms are always more efficient than large farms. Wish more people would read and understand.
I think it was in the late 60’s that my parents yanked all of us out of public school and we were in private christian school from there on out.
I have a small farm. Hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. But, it will feed my family and those I form deep friendships with – mostly other farmers. I don’t think people understand how, as you described, “modern farming”/big ag etc., was corrupted and still is. The nice thing I saw the other day was someone in the community selling half or whole beef as “unvaccinated”. I love it! I don’t vaccinate my beefers either. But, that’s another topic for another day.
What I have learned, is that this small farm will feed several families! I love the homesteading movement that is so popular now. Lots and lots of people going back to small farms and sharing their experiences and helping one another. I think one of the local groups was teaching people how to butcher chickens, then another class on how to butcher a hog, etc. These are lost arts! Gives me hope.
IMHO, WE in embracing modern civilisation have surrendered our autonomy, liberty and heritage in exchange for ILLUSIONS which so many refuse to recogonise are as ephemeral as Unicorn farts.
The ILLUSION of prosperity; getting on the credit trap merry go round, so that can “keep up with the Joneses” and so riding on that razors edge of bankruptcy.
The ILLUSION of Convenience/Efficiency; expending all of our time and energy in order to meet Maslos hierarchy of needs (food, clothing, shelter, etc.) by working for a paycheck.
Hunter/gatherers expend 30hrs/week to meet their needs, and I suspect a time motion study of the Amish would find similar.
The ILLUSION of Security; dependence on the LE, the Fire Dept, the Healthcare system, Insurance, etc. are you REALLY more “secure” than “doing it, yourself”?
Compassion for others. You want to help those who can’t/won’t stand up to the tyranny of lies.
Your point is well made.
I’d suggest people consider reading the book Bowling Alone.
I try to think about the things that lead me a conservative viewpoint, but understand that each person has to find that path on their own and sort out their own convictions. I’m hoping that I can show my kids how to question everything and expose them to the same influences that I had, and that it will be enough. I know that trying forcefully do it will just make them run the opposite direction faster. But it’s been a journey over the last 20 years and to all of you talking about your kids, you never know when that epiphany might hit them. I always voted R, but was as clueless and foolish as the kids you described.
So don’t give up hope. Show them that your faith makes you stronger and you live a better life than most. I could rattle off 20 things that influenced me but the most important is observing that people that have gotten right with God are happier, stronger, and capable of incredible things.
My recommendation is to pull the phone out of your kids hands. You will be amazed! Their brains actually “wake up” and can be influenced by faith and human interaction. Pulling the phone out of drug addicts’ hands is a technique used in rehab programs – for a reason.
Amen.
Growing up, I had the benefit of a dad who was a thinking-man’s conservative. He read voraciously, and discussed what he was reading with me. Sometimes he’d tell me things, other times he’d make me think by asking questions. This went on from the time I was an older child well-through college. Politics, philosophy, civics, current events, and much Christian theology were staples of dinner-table conversation. I was left with the foundation for a worldview I could make my own.
Now 77 and facing death in the form of cancer, he looks on what has become of this country (one he literally bled for as a United States Marine) with a combination of consternation and understanding. He grieves for the future his grandchildren are inheriting.
So I teach my kid. It used to be from the Bible, and simple lessons about character and right / wrong. Now – as she’s getting older – dealing with the cultural issues of the day, we continue to evolve our conversations around worldview. My wife and I make great sacrifices to keep her in a classical Christian school where values are tested, but also reinforced. Sadly, she will be a minority of voters one day, just as we have been.
It’s a sad time. I know now things ought to be. But for the life of me I don’t know how we fix this when the Left (call them whatever you want) drips acid on the superstructure of Western Civilization every day. They do this from the lofty positions of corporate governance, banking, HR, academia, public education, hollywood, tech, social media, and the federal bureaucracy.
Great post SMFH….the influence of Dads at the dinner table can never be over-estimated….especially if you’re fortunate to have a dad who “walks the talk” as your Dad has…He sounds like a great father…mine is 82 and I appreciate him more each day that passes…
He is a great father. Indeed you should appreciate yours with each passing day. I’m learning what that’s like when you know the days are passing quickly, and are too few remaining in number.
I hate the phone in the hands of kids. It is the greatest manipulation tool of their unsophisticated minds mankind has ever seen. You have to be aware of the manipulation in order to counter its effects. Unfortunately, too many kids have given themselves over to social acceptance over any universal principles or values (parents? anyone) and listen to the unrelenting drone of manipulation. I even see a lot of grown adults who are “phone drones”. Sad when we are willing to shed our humanity for a digitally manipulated existence.
If you want some good news, my 17-year old daughter just made a patriotic drawing of a fierce eagle for J6 political prisoner.
Awesome.
The Occam’s Razor version.
Joe Biden has been compromised, co-opted, and bribed by various foreign governments.
China – outright bribes.
Russia – bribes and blackmail.
Ukraine – blackmail.
Iran – bribes and blackmail.
Germany – blackmail via Russian agents.
Biden, and previously Obama, see a nuclear Iran as a regional counterbalance to a nuclear Israel.
Hamas is seen by Biden as a counter force to weaken Israel.
My wife and I have been “awake” for decades.
My wife rarely reads the news because she is at a point where she’s had enough of the talking.
I still read but I have also heard enough talk.
I guess we are just waiting for everyone else to catch up.
A Watchman must plant seeds [of Truth], even though only GOD can make them grow.
Not suggesting you’re not doing this already, but anyone that is already informed needs to share that ‘light’ with others.
Others might re-think their ‘silence to avoid conflict’. GOD is watching everything.
Due to the situation with my eyes, I have to be judicious with what I read. I’m not able to read large amounts because it is fatiguing to me.
So, I say that to say this: CTH is the ONLY place I read and comment because of the quality of Sundance’s analysis and commentary as well as those of my fellow Treepers.
You are all indepensible, beloved “Deplorables”.
God Bless you all and keep on keeping on!
I stumbled upon CTH as hurricane Ian bore down on us just over a year ago. (we apparently live in proximity) Sundance’s calming and prescient commentary before and after made me aware that kindred spirits were all around each of us. This thread caused me to actually post for the first time because this community has become like a family to me. It’s my sanctuary in a time where all the pillars that we previously leaned on appear to be receding to dust. I for one, feel that the entire world is quickly flowing through a classic paradigm shift where the past world falls away and, like a Phoenix, a new earth arises. An excruciatingly exciting time to be alive. Just want to say thank you to each of you and Sundance, if you ever need a Butch, just ask. I’ll walk over to the BH and buy the first round.
My daughter’s are 35 and 38 this month. I am extremely grateful both are completely MAGA despite their private college educations and lives wrapped around smart phones. I do respect some of the comments that point out in so many words, “,,,it starts at home…”My ex and I were vocal about politics as were their maternal grandparents. My oldest is essentially a prepper and distrusts all aspects of government, the younger is an attorney and has seemingly held her own despite the pressures. In fact, both of my step children are also MAGA through and through but again, they are both in their 30’s too.
My attempts to discuss issues or point out current events is often squelched by my wife and others who would rather not complicate their existence with “politics.” I do notice some things “sticking” despite the resistance so, I consider myself quite lucky. As for the accurate and direct observations noted by readers in the OP, and by SD – I worry deeply for our Country, for my young grandchildren and for future generations. I am very encouraged by the awakening that DJT has fostered and for the encouraging optimism recently relayed by SunDance.
We put a lot of our eggs in the DJT basket. What is our succession plan?
With the writing for the teacher; could it be that the parents are keeping silent out of fear the teacher will say something to someone and that they the parents could wind up like those they see on TV being harassed or even brought to court or Child Protective Services. It’s not quite so bad here as in Britain but there are places and certain conditions where the parents could find themselves having to answer questions and spending money to stop the harassment. I try to be careful speak with or around strangers on political matters.
This is what happens when someone gets to decide what’s hate speech and is forbidden.
why do you think the first thing the undocumented democrats invading our border get…a phone.
Don’t go in.
We want them to come out to us.
…
One Six is fraught with control mechanisms that were facilitated, accentuated by the going into the Capitol.
And that the entry was orchestrated, encouraged by plants in the crowd is understated.
So…
Don’t go in.
We want them to come out to us.
…
RECORD…
Record anyone who suggests we should go in. If there really is just cause, then they won’t have trouble repeating the call to go in. They won’t have trouble explaining the just cause openly. And. They won’t have trouble going in, even first, even alone.
IF there is just cause.
But even then, tell the provocateur.
YOU go in.
WE want them to come out to us.
…
NEXT…
Share the faces of provocateurs.
We have got to weed The Plants out of the crowd, so that the patriots’ cause can regain status as America.
For WE are…
Home of the brave.
Land of the free.
Speak as you would to a friend. Even when you think they listen not, their mind hears you whether they choose to agree or not in the present tense. They hear but they need to validate what you say with their own experience and time will tell. Most importantly of all is that you reiterate your love for them and that you speak because you care and maybe just maybe the essence of what you speak of will fall in accordance of their own experience and create the change in their opinions that you seek to incur. Only time will tell.
I try to preach the word of truth to anyone who will listen.
a few will catch it quickly, others it goes right over their head.
I have found if you go after politics, people will close right up fast
and they will ignore what you say.
hit them with something like food prices are going high
and that the lack of domestic oil production that is driving the prices
then hit them with government policy controlling oil production
the politics come in the end.
I don’t know how I found this site, but it is one of the few digital places I find such a nice mix of humble intelligence, courtesy and genuine interest in others. You lead by example. Thx, Sundance
It’s important to recognize a problem. Equally important is to adequately understand it. But stopping there leads to a paralysis that only empowers your enemy.
To solve the problem, you need tactical actions you can personally take to mitigate, or eliminate the problem. If there is no tactical action you can take, then it isn’t your problem, it is simply your reality that you have to live with.
When it comes to the issues frequently addressed on this site, it’s easy to recognize and even understand the problem, but so many times, we are left without that last critical part. What to DO about the problem. Not what OTHERS can do, but what we personally can do.
To that end, a few suggestions – think of it as a checklist. If you are doing whatever is reasonable in the list below, you are doing what you should and can sleep well at night. If there is something on this list you are not doing but COULD, get busy:
1) If you are a parent, homeschool your kids. Believe me, it’s far simpler than you are led to believe. They learn, you manage their learning. You don’t actually have to teach. Great preparation for college.
2) If you attend a church, get involved in their religious education. You may not know much, but the alternative to you is probably far worse.
3) Look for low level, local government roles you can take on a volunteer basis. Great if you can get elected to a schoolboard or important office, but if not, do the grunge work nobody else wants to do, but do it where your influence – or at least your eyeballs and ears – can be of use.
4) Make sure your own house is in order. Remember the two greatest commandments – Love God, Love your neighbor. You can’t lead by example if you are a jackass about it. Be good, be right, be judicious, but for the love of God, be KIND about it. Even, especially, to those who are least worthy of your kindness. Remember that God offered you salvation BEFORE you were worthy of it, and it’s probably still a journey for you to do your part, but He is patient with you. Be patient with others. If they are still breathing, it’s because God still thinks there’s a chance. . . .
5) Don’t go saving the world at the expense of your own family. Start with your kids, if not them, your grandkids, if not them, your cousins, relatives, etc.
Remember, that corrupt politicians were once young, impressionable children. You may not be able to fix today’s corrupt politicians, but tomorrow’s are right in front of you. Take heart and take action.
This is like reading Sam Adams in real time. I pray I can rise to the occassion.
Well you’re here and that’s the best start one can get in order to rise to the occasion! Sundance is a modern day Paul Revere and if you stay here when the time comes you’ll know, we’ll all know!
I’ve been lurking since 2012 and found the insight into the Romney / Ryan ticket and the detailed explanation of the Obama transformation statement fascinating back then. When DJT was still in the primary, I was most hesitant to support but it was CTH that opened my eyes to see the good he could do. Fully MAGA since. I don’t think there is anything that has happened in the last 11 years that Sundance or the CTH community truly was taken by surprise (politically speaking). Thank you Sundance for all you have done; CTH is the only must read every day.
A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I taught in a couple of local colleges as an “adjunct professor”. It was a side job for me since I was full time in the technology sector. I only taught technology to students and stayed away from all the other topics. I quit at one point because the “student body” was so devoid, in general, of … intelligence. And as faculty, we were held to strict grading rubrics that actually forced us to pass very poor students on to the next class. It was as if they had never learned to read, write, and most were devoid of critical thinking skills. As their teacher, we were not allowed to have a conversation outside the curriculum, not even in casual conversation. It’s all very controlled. Sad. The students are being robbed of a good education.
It was then that I had grandchildren launching into adulthood. I advised my adult children – do NOT send them to college. Skip it. Save yourself the money and the heartache. Get them in a trade or teach them how to run their own business in something that they are good at. I’m happy to say that they took my advice, but they were afraid. I told them, “Look, I’ve got more credentials and higher education degrees than anyone I know, and it’s all garbage. Trust me.”
My younger grandchildren are either homeschooled or in really good, private, christian schools. They are articulate, can carry on an adult conversation; they exhibit understanding of broad topics; they are well read; they are welcomed into the conversation. As it should be. They weren’t raised on computers, iphones, or social media. Their activities are wholesome and provide learning opportunities about how things work. As it used to be.
Where I live now, homeschooling is big, and I’ve met some wonderful, intelligent, capable, people. I have hope for our future when I look around and see how many families are taking the raising of their children as serious as any thing they do. There may be a lost generation or two in there, but the ones who are very young now, so many of them, are going to change the world for the better. At least, that is my hope.
Regarding general communication with friends or family – we don’t dwell on politics. We stay busy making sure our families are connected and that we share the love of the Lord and the love of one another. But, it wasn’t always that way. Politics was a very hot topic. But, January 6th changed a lot of things. It was, and still is, a critical turning point. We all faced the fact that our government is hopelessly corrupt and beyond help, so we turned inward. Inward towards one another and doing what we could do to “live our best lives”. No one trusts the government, or the media, and so we’ve all made a conscious effort to excise it out of our lives.
The reality of our current situation is not ignored. It’s a strong undercurrent of evil, that, if we dwell on it too much or let it influence us, we will be swept under the waves of bitterness and hate. Not how I want to live.
Love of GOD. Common sense. Self sufficient. All things the UniParty leftists hate.
You rock!
Great post as always. That’s the whole point. Fellowship. Without fellows there is no ship and we are SUNK. Stay on point and keep on praying.
i asked my granny in her 80s why kids shoot up schools nowadays. Her reply: they are sad and lonely and depressed. They spend all day isolated on screens and never interact with other generations. They act out in anger and violence because no one loved them enough to take the tech away.
Prior to the 2020 election, political conversations were frequent and intense in my household. My young children knew exactly where their parents stood and who they supported. After the 2020 election, those conversations are hardly ever heard anymore. There is instead a quiet resolve to stand firm behind our political, moral, and religious convictions. With clear eyes now, we much more fully understand the scale and scope of our adversaries. I suspect the loss of faith we’ve experienced towards our politicians and the electoral process, has chilled our political passions and conversations, along with diminishing the belief that we can right things with our vote alone. In this quiet, we have become much more attuned to God, and rightly find our faith and strength in Him. I think, when the time comes, He will have us truly ready for battle. I’m sure technology is having a negative impact on families, but I wonder if there could be another factor behind the silence.
When my children (now ages 19, 17, 16) began school, I soon recognized that they were being indocrinated with leftist ideology, even in “conservative” Idaho. I thought I could counter their education at home with facts and logic. Soon, I began to see that my children were being taught to disrespect their parents. It was particularly clear when my son became obsessed with recycling, and began reprimanding me for any perceived infractions against the environment (like when I was pruning a tree).
I became very sensitive to any effort to undermine my authority, and after much research and prayer, the Holy Spirit inspired me to pull my kids out of school and home school them.
It was truly a blessing! It strengthened the relationships between me and each child and between each other. We found conservative Christian co-ops, where we have made friends. When covid hit, we did not have to stop school, and we even participated in sports teams while everything else was shut down.
As my son has left home, and my older daughter gets ready to leave home, I will find out how well our homeschooling prepared them. I worry that they will not survive the onslaught of pressure that they will receive, even if they go to religious colleges. We do still have control over the purse-strings, and they know that we will not fund their college education if they come back the slightest degree “woke”.
Many have commented here about social media and “smart phones”. I agree that they are a plague, and I wish I had done more to limit access to them.
People’s political affiliation and ideology have become something tribal.
Even if they disagree with something a Democrat politician, administration, etc. does or they don’t really subscribe to all tenets on the left like giving children hormones or some such, they will not change who they vote for or what they publicly support because their identity is tied to the left.
Being on the left means they are more virtuous, intellectual, educated than the rabble on the other side of the political divide. They won’t do anything that threatens these perceptions as it is essential to self for them.
It’s really appalling that public schools have children for 12 years (13 if you count kindergarten) and in all that time cannot manage to teach them basic civics. These are middle school students so maybe they haven’t got to that class yet, but it isn’t like it will take a full semester. Take a week out of social studies to cover the basics.
That’s what happened in the 1980’s, when Texas discovered graduating students didn’t know anything about geography; not surprising, since it wasn’t part of the curriculum. Social studies teachers added world geography, and whaddaya know … we learned geography. We could identify all the continents and oceans, find the countries, and name all the states. We could even identify which countries in Europe were part of the Soviet bloc. IIRC this was done in 1 or 2 weeks.
More than 40 years ago when my only child was young, part of the Southern etiquette I enforced was that she should answer adults using Ma’am and Sir, if not Mrs/Ms or Mr and their last names. I did not want her to call grownups by their first names. She needed to show respect as a natural habit.
Then came the day that she innocently addressed a probably gay worker at the child care center as Ma’am. The guy ignored what she said in that case. He was good with kids and wasn’t there to be a problem for anyone. He may have been straight but used a little voice when interacting with little people and had a hard time turning it off when speaking with the parents.
That was the day that I told my daughter that she need not say Ma’am or Sir. She should say yes or no.
I think we lost something that day.
At a time in my life I once thought I was fairly intelligent about Politics and our Government, I have since realized that I have been very ignorant and uninformed.
As a Viet Nam Veteran, I saw some strange things happening with-in our Military that should have never happened. This is where I learned that our Government and the (3) letter guys played very dirty to make profits from what they did. We were there to protect their interests ONLY.
Since I found CTH and ALL of You wonderful folks, about (8) years ago, I have been enlightened and now truly understand what our Government is TRULY capable of.
I am extremely grateful to ALL who read, write and visit CTH especially to you Sundance for helping me and my FAmily see the light, open our eyes and hearts and minds to the possibilities.
GOD Bless ALL here and Keep our Country ans Us SAFE!!
Thank you, Sundance!
In spades!

I dont do (or trust) and social network, including X(Twitter) or Truth Social
Musk is busy Making Data Mining Great Again with Twitter and Truth Social is an echo chamber and really a platform for Team Trump (which is perfectly fine, but I see no community or commentary there)
