Happy Thanksgiving. Living well always includes gratitude.
“Here we touch on… one of the secrets of the spiritual life that also is one of the laws of happiness. The more we cultivate gratitude and thanksgiving, the more open our hearts are to God’s action, so that we can receive life from God and be transformed and enlarged. By contrast, if we bury ourselves in discontent, permanent dissatisfaction, then our hearts close themselves insidiously against life, against God’s gift” (The Way of Trust and Love, p. 112).

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends (and others who celebrate??)
Love from Australia ♥️
Many thanks for the nice comment!
Stay optimistic for what we will regain and thankful for what we have not yet lost!
I am always thankful. There is always beauty in our lives – we just have to open our eyes to see it.
Amen!
We must also open our ears:
The great composer Anton Bruckner provides 5 minutes of beautiful soul-shuddering music in his Os Iusti (The Mouth of a Just Man speaks Wisdom…) from Psalm 36 in the Vulgate (i.e. Psalm 37 in other Bibles).
Happy Thanksgiving, dear Rach💕
And Happy Thanksgiving to all in these branches and to our beloved Sundance, Menagerie, Ad rem, Stella, and Wee who work so hard to keep this Tree evergreen all year long.
Thanks be to Almighty God for the blessing of fellowship here through His mercies, grace, and lovingkindness forever and ever, Amen 🙏🏻🕊
PS… sharing the laughter. We could all use more of it💕
I actually bought this for my wife. Was afraid she would be mad, but surprisingly she actually hangs it on the stove at every holiday gathering

I see that item is no longer available…sold out I’m sure. I am not surprised.
A sense of humour is very important in a spouse. She got a good one in you I think, bktg2 😉😁👍🏻
Hahaha…Mom ?? That was me !!
Love to all and always MAGA 👊👊🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
Psalm 9:1-2
I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and rejoice in you;
I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.
WKRP in Cincinnati ! The Classic lives on!
In fact, southwest Ohio back in the good ol’ days had a good number of wild disc jockeys, in Cincinnati and in Dayton.
And let us keep Thanksgiving “Thanksgiving” and not “Turkey Day,” a dim nit-witticism which I loathe and despise beyond all reason.
I think it first came from an obese sportscaster, which would make sense, but I am not sure!
If you can attend a Mass or other religious service today, please do so! We need to give thanks and prepare for the next 12 months, during which America will choose its future…or have it chosen by those who are more determined, more relentless, and more ruthless in their beliefs than the majority.
One of the funniest scenes in TV history. I watched it when this episode first aired and I laughed for God knows how long. If you’ve ever spent time living in the Cinti area, you’d understand.
Happy Thanksgiving fellow Treepers!
Never not funny.
“Give a man a helicopter ride, and he flies for an hour. Give a man half a helicopter ride, and he flies for he rest of his life.”
Happy Thanksgiving, Treepers. May your food be bountiful, your conversations congenial, and May God bless your day. 🙏
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Great post, Menagerie. Love the WKRP video–made me laugh so hard–and the beautiful quote from Fr. Jacques Phillippe. Happy Thanksgiving, all!.
Happy Thanksgiving, fellow Treepers. It is my favorite holiday – so simple – no mad rush to give gifts – just time with family around the table and lots of good food!
I have been susceptible to malapropisms all my life.
Many years ago, many of us were in the kitchen cooking on Thanksgiving and I loudly admonished my significant other to “wait.. wait..save the turkey droppings for the gravy!”…. still get ribbed as nobody has forgotten.
Happy Thanksgiving all.
Happy Thanksgiving to all Treepers here. Still many things to be happy for.
Thankful for The Last Refuge!!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 🙂
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Remembering Thanksgivings of yore with family and friends.
Many grand people and good times.
Even, at times, in service overseas, Americans gathered together, as best they could, to give Thanks.
It is not by chance that America is exceptional, it is by God!
God bless!
“It is not by chance that America is exceptional, it is by God!”
Amen!
And if America forgets that, then without a doubt the end is indeed near!
Literally Obama’s central theme is lack of American exceptionalism. That’s the exact idiocy that drives him to back Iran and the WEF.
I’m thankful that we had an exceptional set of founding fathers who made something truly different and world changing.
There were a few “kinda” empty holidays while in S.E. Asia for 18 months! I said my thanks and was “kinda” glad I didn’t have a significant other that was left alone! Dear John letters were a bit saddening! I had always believed that absence grows/makes the heart fonder! Another myth.
Happy Thanksgiving, to all my treeper family. May the good Lord shower you with happiness and love, on this very special day
Happy Thanksgiving Treepers and Treepettes!
May you be surrounded with the joys and happiness that family and friends bring…and wonderful food.
And may the Good Lord Bless all of you!
Blessings on your heads, days, and visits.
Gobble gobble 😁
Is that you Joe?

Thankful for Sundance, Menagerie, Admins, and all the Treepers. Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thankgiving Sundance and all Treepers ..
May the Lord. Bless and keep you all today !!!

Les Nesmith the perfect news actor, funny stuff.
Memories…ha. Happy Thanksgiving!
Note: Wild turkeys can fly.
What a sight, ladies and gentlemen, what a sight! The copter seems to be circling the parking area now. I guess it’s looking for a place to land… No, something just came out of the back of the helicopter! It’s a dark object, perhaps a skydiver, plummeting to the Earth from only 2,000 feet into the air… A second, a third… There’s no parachutes yet… Those can’t be skydivers.
Oh, my god, they’re turkeys! … They’re crashing to the Earth right in front of our eyes! One just went through the windshield of a parked car! This is terrible, everyone’s running around, pushing each other… Oh my goodness! Oh, the humanity! All these people are running about… The turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement! I don’t know how much longer– The crowd is running for their lives! I think I’m going to step inside. I can’t watch this any longer.
WKRP station manager Arthur Carlson,“As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.”
Hat tip to Herb Morrison.
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁 I have so much to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving!
.
Gratitude — here are a few of mine on this day of thankfulness
.
.
.
.
I can relate to your gratitude for colors, and that gives me another thing to thank God for, something I took for granted all my life.
I am a very visual person. I’ve been artsy/crafty my whole life, and I owned a decorative painting business. I respond very strongly to colors, and I choose them carefully in my home, knowing they can affect mood, sleep, and even appetite.
I appreciate your thoughtful and wise observation!
Blessings to you both M and S. These comments brought me back to my beginnings. I feared losing my sight when young. Made my decision to become an ophthalmologist
Affirmative action and my grades 3.3 out o 4.0 kept me family (two little girls) from that goal. I blame. Me for not getting a 4.0. It was hard being an electrician doing school and raising a family.
I sold surgical implants teaching doctors the new techniques and technologies over my career.
Of the God given senses sight is number one to me.
My how this thing called time, flies . 40 years of experience in life woosh. 😁🙏
I have cataract surgeries in December. Yes, to all you said. I’m so grateful for my vision, and treatments and doctors who help me.
In my 70’s and my vision is getting dimmer, with no coverage I’m hoping it is only cataracts. When I was 8 yrs old, I had a stone thrown that hit my eye, hopefully it’s not related!
Pa, thought you might want to know about these options for people with no coverage.

Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving!
And prayers for continued blessings for you all…
For no matter where we are, our Lord holds us in His hands….
Happy Thanksgiving Treepers!
Enter into His gates with Thanksgiving!
1
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it;
2
for he founded it on the seas
and established it on the waters.
3
Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol
or swear by a false god.
5
They will receive blessing from the Lord
and vindication from God their Savior.
6
Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face, God of Jacob.
7
Lift up your heads, you gates;
be lifted up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
8
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
the Lord mighty in battle.
9
Lift up your heads, you gates;
lift them up, you ancient doors,
that the King of glory may come in.
10
Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord Almighty—
he is the King of glory.
– Psalm 24:1-10
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here at the Treehouse!
“as God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly”
Happy Thanksgiving Sundance and all my fellow Treepers! Love to all and always MAGA 👊👊🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸
I am so grateful for you all. I am VERY grateful growing up with a warrior of a single mother and the comedy of the 70s and 80s. It really taught me a LOT. You had to think about things and take a joke.
God Bless all of you.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Happy Thanksgiving to Sundance, Menagerie and all who read this wonderful site.
Pax Christi Vobiscum and may Georgia and the rest of the States be free.
Classic Charlie Brown Thanksgiving 🥰
Thank you so much for posting this. I’m forwarding it to all my friends and family.
Many blessings on all of my fellow Treepers,,,,and prayers of protection for Sundance et al…..eat much, nap hard, be joyous!
I saw that turkey drop episode when it was first run. LOL did indeed apply.
When I saw the turkey drop episode in the Treehouse, I knew I’d found a refuge. God bless the Treehouse and its keepers.
Happy Thanksgiving. For many years I spent it in Myrtle Beach playing golf with friends who are gone now, but great Thanksgiving memories surround those days.
George Washington’s 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation
Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to “recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”
.
Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.
Given under my hand, at the city of New York, the 3d day of October, A.D. 1789.
Go: Washington
Happy Thanksgiving everyone
Happy Thanksgiving fellow Treepers! Enjoy your meals and families. Out of 6 brothers and Mom and Dad, I have only 2 brothers left. One in Florida and one here where we grew up. Mom passed when I was 21 in 1975 and Dad in 1990. But at least we have my hubby’s brothers and wives to get together. Thankful to have my hubby still and his family.
The 2nd turkey?
Here’s my own little trigger. I make these every year with the grandkids. Of course, I’m just having faith that some day their attitudes, shaped by their parents and us, will trigger some idiot somewhere. No one in our family objects. We actually teach them history.

Oh I love these! …. lol… if there is a family dollar open I am making some for later….
I moved from New England to Texas….. no pilgrims here…
Happy Thanksgiving to all fellow patriotic Treepers, Sundance and Staff.
God Bless

It seems that I have been following your site and availing myself of your wisdom for decades now. I and my wife thank you for your your seemingly tireless efforts in advising, educating and guidance during that period. We wish that all of you have a Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you for what you do!!
Happy Thanksgiving❣️
I am very grateful to have been born of goodly parents. They have since passed, but I still feel of their presence.
On this Thanksgiving Day, I wish to thank them and all of you here at CTH who help me along the way each day.
I feel the same, justice.
That WKRP clip never fails to amuse me!
Happy Thanksgiving all!!!
Would some kind person post/link to the hymn ” We gather together to ask the Lord’s Blessing”?
Back before God was taken out of the schools I was taught this in chorus for Thanksgiving. An old Dutch hymn so POWERFUL that it still applies to this day. I pray it ….and the words bring tears to my eyes. This is my ferfent wish for this Country and all my Treeper friends.
NC, I remember this too!
We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing; he chastens and hastens his will to make known. The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing. Sing praises to his name, he forgets not his own.
I don’t use YouTube but there are plenty of search engine results for YouTube renditions. ( I don’t want to recommend on that I haven’t listened to)
On Rumble.com I found a truly lovely instrumental rendition. Go to Rumble.com and in the search bar enter the words Thanksgiving and We Gather Together.
Here is a site that offers both the lyrics and downloadable mp3 music file

“Sing praises to His name, He forgets not his own.”
and the last stanza:
Oh Lord, make us FREE!
Happy Thanksgiving! It’s nice to have a place where people understand to whom we are thankful; to the one who showed us the ultimate love.
Happy Thanksgiving Treepers 🦃
I am grateful for your kinship and Sundance and team.
