Apparently, the bombing has been quite target, not indiscriminate. Also, the standard operating practice by the IDF for years and years has been to drop leaflets, send texts to the cell phones in the near vicinity, and drop a “knock on the roof” noisemaker before hitting a location with a missile. Sometimes, you can see a corner of a building collapse down into the ground after being hit. That is said to be an indication that there was a tunnel below.
Read a story the other day, seems they are calling people on the ground and recruiting them to effect evacuations.

(It invariably happens because someone just forgets and brings a metal pen, watch, name tag chain etc. too close.)
I missed a paper clip in my shirt pocket once. The MRI found it for me. Nobody/nothing was harmed. I triple checked from then on.

It’s standard to ask if the patient works around metal in any capacity. If they do, they have to have x-rays of the eye sockets first, as clearance. A sliver in a finger wouldn’t be affected in anything less than a 3 Tesla machine. I’ve imaged guys with multiple shrapnel and bullet fragments in them, using low-field machines (.75 Tesla). But again, inside the machine is inside the 5 Gauss line. Six feet away, the machine has zero effect upon metal.
The other reason you want to know ahead of time is because non-ferrous metals like titanium knee/hip replacements will prevent proper imaging, even though it won’t hurt the patient. You end up with a black vortex image, like a hurricane pic from above. Low-field machines can sometimes work around the problem.

Aggiegirl: That MRI scanner looks ancient. I doubt it is functional. MRIs need dedicated facilities and continuous supplies of coolant, plus, of course, a lot of electrical power. As for any kind of magnetic material nearby–not a chance!
Lower-field machines don’t use coolant, and even high-field machines have no “pull” beyond 10-12 feet.
Somewhere around 1983-ish…I was working at a hospital that I think had the first MRI in the US (or so they bragged)….there was a big deal in the news about its construction in a sub-sub basement as the hospital was in a semi-downtown area and there were concerns for the cars on the roads above. Fast forward now I wonder about construction materials in surrounding buildings…..
