Rennels asks, “How many children are required to satisfy us that a vaccine is safe to licence and recommend?” In the case of rotavirus vaccine the excess risk of intussusception was 1 per 5000 vaccinated children. She says the risk-benefit decisions such as “how many serious adverse events are acceptable to save a life” are difficult to make. The author feels strongly about a vaccine she has helped develop and thinks “although the ACIP and AAP have withdrawn recommendations for use of the vaccine, the vaccine may still be indicated in other areas of the world.” The issues raised are not as difficult as it is made out to be. The risk-benefit calculations used by health economists are actually quite easy to comprehend.
Let a represent the lifetime risk of an individual getting the disease in the community (usually given as a fraction, say 1 in a 1000).Let b represent the fraction of those with disease likely to develop a serious complication (usually given as fractions say 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 etc).Let x represent the fraction of those vaccinated who develop a serious complication attributable to the vaccine. ((actual is inadequately documented so is incalculable; this formula relies on documented AEs, not actual AEs, so actual is incalculable, but multiply VAERS numbers by 100x = ballpark actual ))4. Then a multiplied by b represents benefit and x represents the risk.
If x is greater than a multiplied by b, the vaccine should not be used as the risk of vaccine-related-complication is more than the risk of acquiring the disease in the community and getting a serious complication from it.
Assume that 1 in 10 of the population develops measles and assume 1 in a 1000 of those with measles develop subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE). Then the chance of SSPE is 1/10 (a) multiplied 1/1000 (b) 1/10 000. Suppose 1 in a 100 000 of those who receive measles vaccine develops SSPE then the risk x is 1/100 000. The benefit is higher than the risk.
The factor x remains constant for any given vaccine ((artificially!)). The factor b remains constant for a given illness. However, the factor a is different in different populations and changes with time.
x, a and b could also be reckoned in terms of economic costs of the disease and side effects.
The chance of contracting hepatitis A is much lower in Europe than in Asia. Thus, with its good sanitation, the vaccine risk may be too high for Europe but acceptable for its benefits in Asia. Smallpox risk is an example of how time alters the risk-benefit ratio.
As long as smallpox was epidemic, the, risks of disease were more, compared with the risks of vaccination. However, after smallpox was eradicated, the risks of continuing with the vaccination program became unacceptably high compared with risk from the disease. The same is the problem with vaccine-induced polio in developed countries, where the risk of acquiring wild polio is now nearly eliminated.
Refinements may be incorporated to this simple formula. For a vaccine that has a very limited duration of protection (for example viral-influenza vaccination that must be given each year) instead of lifetime risk, the risk of the acquiring the disease each year may be considered.
A vaccine does not protect all those vaccinated ((documented massive outbreaks in highly Vx’d populations, cyclically)). Suppose the vaccine protects 1 in 2 of those vaccinated, the benefit is reduced, and must be multiplied by a fraction c 1⁄2 in this case. a multiplied b, multiplied c must be greater than x.
The risk-benefit ratio is thus a dynamic mathematical solution to the question of, “Is the cure (prevention) worse than the dis- ease?1”

As a pharmacist, I was indoctrinated to believe the vaccine/autism link was debunked. Of course, COVID19 dropped the scales from my eyes.
There is a documentary “Vaxxed” and it’s sequel do a great job of exposing the fraud that went into that conclusion. They includes a whistleblower from the CDC exposing how they fudged the numbers in order the hide the link. I share these videos far and wide. Although I will say I’m not sure how successful this is since the indoctrination runs so deep.

Dr.s are investigated & licenses to practice are revoked when they do verify exemptions… so they almost never do.
WE need to work to get A) the 1986 NCVIAct repealed, and B) the system functioning in an opt-in manner = *everyone* is exempt from “CDC recommendations/mandates”;
unless specifically opting-IN by waiving their right-to-recourse-for-consequences, none are expected to submit.
Search your state health dept. website for “Vaccination Exemption form” for school. (It’s probably worded so as to amount to the parent/guardian admitting to *harming the child* by opting out… the whole thing is a toxic mushroom of propaganda.

It is nearly impossible to find a pediatrician office that will let you opt out of the vaccines–my daughter has been kicked out of several practices because she won’t vax her son who had a slight reaction to his first and only vaccines at 4 months…….They shame and badger the moms very badly. Young mothers are really put under pressure about this …it is horrible.
Suggest to her she ditch pediatrics entirely and simply use a family practice physician for weighing, measuring, & general advice – they are often much more aware, easy-going, & accommodating to awake parents.

I employed midwives all but once. I had a totally unacceptable experience with obstetrics when pregnant, so I ditched them & made my appointments with family practice – they were thrilled to weigh & measure me and let my kiddos listen to the heartbeat with the fetoscope, all taking turns; they didn’t once give me crap about refusing unnecessary “tests” either. I could go on & on about the difference in the way I/we were treated by family practice docs. (this was at a time & place when midwives were not available for me; the only time I used any kind of MD for any of my prenatal monitoring).
Family practice docs – and DCs – can weigh, measure, & diagnose run-of-the-mill childhood situations most excellently, without the pHARMa coercion.
Boycott the pediatricians who make bank off coercive-bullying parents into allowing injection of toxic soups into babies & children to make them “pHARMa-customers-for-life”!!!
They keep abusing us & our children because we continue to believe “we have to” allow it!
This poor mother should have paid attention to the red flags flying over her child at two months when she had a severe reaction to the vaccines and was hospitalized with a high fever and rash. She was told it was a virus, not the vaccines, but it happened right after she had gotten them. Trust your gut and do an extreme amount of vetting of any treatment your kids are getting. You have options including saying no. Spread them out, start at a later age, only get those that are offered in single doses and have been around for a long time with a safety profile. If my kids had a reaction or suspected reaction, they would never get another one until I could manage them at better intervals and at a much later age. Such a tragedy, but we have seen it before and the covid vax was the classic trusting the doctor, govt. and drug companies without questions. When people finally stop trusting these organizations, we might get somewhere. Definitely not there yet though.

My view is its like being surrounded by the enemy; you hardly need to AIM.
By that I mean nearly EVERY aspect of our life is subject to over-regulation by the FEDS, that IF a State Government simply had the WILL to contest in Court, the State would win AND the ruling would apply NATIONWIDE.
Thats one aspect of the LEVERAGE of States asserting 10A, to push back on Federal overrreach.
The other thing is that the threat to withhold Federal funds is LARGELY an empty threat;
Unless the ORIGINATING, appropriating legislation spells out specific conditions the State MUST comply with, in order to recieve the funding, the $ can not be withheld.
So, for instance PDJT could not withhold much Federal funding from ‘sanctuary’ (immigration) cities or States, that refused to “honor” detainer requests from ICE, because the originating legislation did not spell out that in order for a State to recieve “X” federal funds, they HAD to honor such requests.
And, even if PDJT had enough MAGA allies in CONgress to add an amendment making this a requirement,…ehhh! no good. It HAS to be in the ORIGINATING Appropriating legislation.
So, States decriminalised first “Medical Marajiuana” then “recreational MJ” and issued licences and permits to individuals and companies, to cultivate, distribute, sell, possess and consume MJ, in direct violation of Fed. law.
The Feds THREATENED (but never actually did) to withhold LE Federal funding, and took no actual Court action against the States, because they knew if they tried to withhold significant $’s, the States would take it to Court, and whether the State initiated it, or the Fed any Court case, the Fed LOSES, as the Fed has NO Constitutional authority to regulate or prohibit or even put any conditions (like “Dr.s Rx. only) on ANY medication.
Which is why the Feds took no action when ONE State declared Ivermectine to be OTC, in direct contravention of the FDA.
The Federal Govt. was INTENDED, by our Founders to be WEAK, and the States and the People strong.
And, the structure for that is still right there IN the 10th A, WE the People just need to install STRONG State Governments, to assert OUR authority and Power.

There has actually been quite a strong 10th amendment movement going on since about 2010 or so. I think it is why you see so many red states finally suing the Federal government or asserting nullification measures.

Retired Magistrate here: Some goods news regarding Issue 1 that passed here in Ohio regarding abortion. According to an article in Front Lines Ohio, 26 representatives have come forward with regard to putting forth legislation to negate Issue 1. When the U.S. Supreme Court sent the abortion issue back to the states via the Dodd ruling, the Court left it up to the legislature to determine what to do about abortion, by legislation not by constitutional amendment by citizens. The rationale given by the mentioned Ohio legislators is that the right to life is a fundamental aspect of liberty which cannot be voted away.
Other amendments to Ohio’s constitution which were put on the ballot by voters did not have to do with fundamental human rights. In addition, the language contained in Issue 1 is extremely vague and does not give an indication of what current pieces of existing law would have to be repealed or amended. In my opinion there is no way that Issue 1 as it stands, can be implemented.
If I remember right in Roe vs. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court never did decide if there is delineated in the Constitution a specific right to life. It just pulled out of thin air the novelty that there was a “right to privacy” in the First Amendment. The U.S. Supreme Court in the Dodd case threw that argument out the window and rightfully directed the issue back to the legislature of each state to deal with the issue. However, the Court did not deal with the issue of the right to life.
The Declaration of Independence states that there is an inalienable right to life. The first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution fleshes out the skeleton of the Declaration of Independence by setting forth certain individual rights. Taken as a whole there is an inalienable right to life. So, what is being proposed by Ohio legislators may result in the real issue in abortion cases, the inalienable right to life, taken to the U.S. Supreme Court.
As an aside, voters in Michigan passed the same constitutional amendment as Issue 1 in Ohio; that Issue is already in the court system in Michigan. Also, from post Issue 1 poling, it appears that many voters in Ohio had no idea what they were actually voting on.
So there is hope that the laws which are currently in place in Ohio regarding abortion will stay in place. These include the “Heartbeat” legislation, medical protection for mothers if an abortion goes awry and parental consent among others.

100% correct. We may be firmly against abortion on many grounds. However neither an unborn childs right to life or a mothers right to end that life is enshrined in our constitution. Thus it is only up to the states to decide and that’s the way it should be. This is not a federal issue and never has been.
If our Constitution and our civilized society is not based on the right to life of any human, then it all is null. Our Declaration and first amendments to the Constitution are based on the right to ‘life liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ given from God to all humans. The states are given authority by the Constitution to the powers not given to the federal govt. and the states are limited by the powers given to the people. So yes, the SC did the right thing in giving it back to those states. The people decide in the end what happens to issues like this but that power is also given to them by our Constitutional govt. Thus, the right to life of a human child, all human life in America, is given to them under God and is embedded in our Constitution.
The trick is a declaration of when life begins and the SC has yet to touch this as a direct ruling that I know of. Science now has proven life of a human begins at conception as that embryo cannot be anything but human as it grows. Heartbeat begins very early on etc. and we have seen the proof. The SC should recognize that scientific fact and declare life of a human begins at the joining of the human male sperm and human female egg, aka conception. Human life is a right for every baby conceived. and our Constitution recognized this and was set up that way. My two cents.

You missed the important point that the SCOTUS said it was up to the legislatures to determine what to do about abortion. They didn’t include citizen ballot measures in that decision. And you also missed the point of the ballot measure being unconstitutional since it appears the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution taken together affirm the inalienable right to life.
States like CA have had ballot initiatives overturned for being unconstitutional, so this one is far from over.
Its my understanding that these so called “abortion” amendments actually are written vaguely SO THAT while they can be sold as about abortion, they ALSO ‘protect’ trans treatments, as they ‘protecy’ an individuals “right to REPRODUCTIVE freedom” without specifying what that is.
There were TWO essential aspects to getting these initiatives passed; one was deceptive advertising, portraying it as stricktly about abortion, the second was suppressing any organised effort to try to counter the false advertising, i.e. by omission and inaction, the RNC and State Parties, and Catholic and other churches are complicit.
And yes, they make it a Constitutional amendment so that its almost impossible to reverse it, later.

Yes, my father served in the Navy during the Korean War, my uncle had his life cut short due to injuries sustained in that same war. My father had things about the military he didn’t care for, but always encouraged me that being an officer in the military was a worthy career, my uncle’s son spent 20 years in the Army. Yet there’s no way either of them would encourage their grandson’s into today’s service. My teenage son wouldn’t go a quarter mile near a recruiting office, nor would I let him. My son is proud of his white heritage and of his forefathers and mother’s and takes it as insult of the nth degree to be labeled as some sort of undesirable.
My family served in every major conflict in this country’s history, from my Irish ancestors who fought alongside Washington in the war for independence through my uncle, who was a Marine Corps gunny for 36 years, starting in Korea and going all the way through Vietnam… even had distant cousins who evidently served on opposite sides during the Civil War, when two sisters both lost their sons less than a month apart, one fighting for the South and one fighting for the North. My eldest son went into the ROTC program in college but withdrew after his first year when we discovered that the recruiter had not been honest with him regarding his career path and his advisor hung him out to dry when he tried to push back. We were all devastated at the time but now, in hindsight, we are all very thankful that he didn’t get sucked into a decade in the desert as many of his friends did. I am heartbroken at what has become of the military in which my father, my uncles, my grandfather, and generations before them proudly served but I would never tell anyone today to sign up!

baggies were $1.99, now $3.99 ON SALE;
1# bacon was $7.99, now $10.99;
and so on it went.
what formerly cost me just about $100.00 –
and i’m talking immediately post, not pre, “pandemic” –
now came in at $265 and change.

Very true zoom, it is not sustainable where I am either –I see simliar leaps in pricing, but here this week have also noticed supply issues.
My budgetary offset:
I’m doing a semi-fast 2, maybe 3 days a week to extend the budget. Need to lose weight anyway, so it’s a win-win, but once I reach ideal weight, I’ll need another strategy.
Cheaper protein source to fit into a week’ s menu:
–tuna, esp generic, has held its pricing relatively well here. (skipjack or light tuna is lower mercury).
— generic peanut butter (look for just peanuts) on a banana makes a decent filling snack.
— frozen beef liver –found at a good price this week so I’m going to learn how to cook it proper –soak for 30 min in milk to tenderize, cut out the gristle (the arteries) and don’t overcook –very nutritious, so I plan to develop a liking.
Cheaper fruit
— again, bananas are still gentle on the budget.
—lemon water (an alternative to oj) — I can buy organic lemon juice (none of the chemical additives) for about $4…. But it lasts a good while in the fridge and I can add a bit to my water to jazz it up.
Tip given to me re supply shortages by a store manager during the pandemic.
He said the small independent groces have a different supply network than the larger chains, and hence are more robust and able to withstand hiccups better. The chains also tend to have tight just-in-time supply arrangements which are more vulnerable.
What he told me held true in my experience during the pandemic. The big grocery chains ran out of items weeks ahead of empty shelves appearing in my local independent. And the smaller store seemed more able to back fill with substitutes when necessary.
If supply becomes a problem again, try visiting the nearest small independent grocer.

He talks a lot about the disasters that can/will happen with passenger vehicles but what I’m really concerned about what will happen with semi trucks like I work in.
If a kill switch shuts off a semi truck while going 65 mph on the highway or interstate weighing 80,000 lbs+, that is a mass casualty event instigated by a computer or worse a government bureaucrat. Many of those trucks are also loaded with hazardous materials as well so that would make the situation so much worse and give the government more opportunities to poison rural communities.
For Mike himself he has plenty of good things he gets right like the foods we eat. He got me to look for organic, local, non food coloring, and no bioengineered ingredients (I can bioengineered, lab food). However, I feel he has swallowed the RFK poison pill and refuses to acknowledge what RFK is really there for. (Unless he has and I just missed it.) He holds to Trump being responsible for the Fauci Ouchies and said in the past that unless he speaks out about them that he won’t vote for Trump. It makes my suspicious cat sit up and take notice.

Many of the latest models of car are “drive-by-wire” – i.e. electronically controlled systems. That means NO controls. Last weekend (think it was) I posted a link to a story about an EV in the UK that the driver lost control of both the throttle and brakes (a number of cars, including gas, also have electronic steering).
Simple truth – if a car is controlled via electronics and has a cellular or other RF connection, then it can be hacked and controlled by someone other than those in the car – including by the government or terrorists.

Yes, most modern trucks are drive by wire as well with a lot of computerization. The worst part of semis at this point is the absolutely stupid DEF/DPF systems on post 08 trucks. Many times you see a truck stranded on the road most of the time it’s either a tire blowout or the DEF system forcibly slows the truck to a crawl. Most owners who can get those systems “deleted” but it’s getting harder as the Deep State DoT, which quick fact is unaccountable to everyone including Congress according to the law, is cracking down on shops that perform these services and merchants that sell kits to help owners do the deletes themselves. So far a delete is not illegal in itself but they are moving that way quickly.
I haven’t driven late model trucks. The older trucks have power assisted steering. Without it is a wrestling match.
The brakes are air controlled. It takes around 60lbs of pressure to release the brakes. If the pressure drops the brakes will lock down.
I presume there would be a strategy, kinda like that auto-stop/start feature that shuts an engine off at a stop light. Back when I got surprised by that in a rental car a number of years ago, I found that modulating brake pressure kept the system from shutting the engine off. I didn’t know how to defeat the blasted system but apparently there’s a system option to do so. German engineering, heh.
My bet is new cars have the sensors, like seat sensors for the airbags, etc, to know when people are in the car and of course whether or not the car is operating/moving. They’ll just shut the car off while one is not in it. Heck they might render the locks inoperable too.
I’ll keep my two old diesel trucks with mechanical fuel injection and manual transmissions. They’re hard to kill. 🙂
I’m driving a 2021 model and i can cut that system off to prevent it from shutting off at stoplights. I’m sure there are other better ways they can kill me beyond that though.
