It seemed to be a theme. I’m plowing through our practice’s transition to a new electronic medical record, and a new partner, and feeling overwhelmed by the government/insurance enslavement of physicians and the superhuman effort needed to keep sustainable, not lose the ability to love in the practice of medicine, and the isolation from everything else I love to stay in practice..
Last week I was at a conference of family physicians in my state. We as a lot, are so burned out from where we were 40 years ago.
Sometimes, when you have sensitivity, the pain is overwhelming.

Several months ago I was weeding my garden and pulling down some huge vines that were entangled in Longleaf pine trees. I was determined and pulled and pulled the vines until I only had about a foot to go. The vine snapped and I fell on my hip in the woods.
My hip really hurt. I put ice on my hip and then called the doctors office. Come on in said the receptionist so the Doc can take a look at you.
I did, X-rays were taken and the Doc said the X-rays showed a possible fracture. He made an appointment for me at our local hospital emergency room, drove me to the emergency room while the receptionist drove my car to the hospital. Can you imagine how kind and thoughtful my doctor is? Beyond wonderful. My scan showed no fracture, just a badly bruised hip. I will be forever grateful.
Please don’t give up CountryDoc. You are needed and appreciated.

After just hearing my second doc has decided to retire–I feel like I’m on a raft in the middle of nowhere; that there’s a slim to none chance that the next iteration will have a degree of sensitivity or can relate to my history–and it’s not a complicated one. I’m healthy at 77 but I present as a non-statin, non-vax grump.
I bet there are a lot of us around, despite the pressure, who are non-statin and non-vaxx, (I used to be okay with vaxxs)
I am also non-Remdesivir and non-blood transfusion (nowadays) and requested it be written on my medical record. and I was a blood donor for many years.
Now they allow lgbt? people to donate blood (so their feelings are not hurt?) and now there are the spike proteins.

If we can all somehow just pull back a bit and think about how some of the simplest tasks we perform are all emblematic of our way of life and hold great meaning, and use that to refresh ourselves when the inevitable dips come, we can win this.

So true Doc. Our general medical care went down hill when insurance conglomerates moved in to take over in the 90s. Now we have “health-care ” where only symptoms are treated but not causation. Primary cares have become referral sources, their hands being tied by the insurance companies for how much medicine they can actually practice.
My grandson just had an endoscopy done. He asked his GI doctor why he couldn’t do his colonoscopy at the same time. The answer was insurance demands the two be done separately =$$$, two co-pays of $250 each.
My heart breaks for the primary care physicians, like you, who are loving, caring and will bend over backwards for their patients. I understand your stress and really total frustration in all you have to do outside of medicine to keep your practice up and running. My daughter is the business administrator for a large multiple doctor practice. It’s her job to keep all the T’s crossed and I’s dotted to relieve the physicians of most of those chores.
I’m sorry this is so long. Just know you are kept in prayer. As overwhelming as it is, it’s important that you keep being the wonderful physician you are. I’m sure your patients are thankful to have you.

His actual “doctoring”? Fast, efficient, and talented. Logging it into the electronic interface? Utter madness!! I feel for you my friend. I feel for you.

It is utter madness and having to constantly get new electronic records systems adds to it. The stupid codes are only as good as the person who did the original inputting. An example, the gyn doctors I worked for had been using an incorrect diagnosis code for years for a specific infection. The one they used was for that infection but in the eye. I told them but got an oh well, the insurances have paid on it and did nothing to correct it. Procedure codes come down as best guess a lot.

Two years ago I got covid (Delta variety) and I did not go to the doc. I did the Vit D3, Zinc, plus quercertin, and NAC, also one multi vitamin and minerals (no iron) a day and several vitamin C’s. I am a senior and even then I thought, I can make it.
My son looked after me and he had it too at the same time. We were unable to get Ivermectin anywhere but my son knew some one who had managed to get a little and we got a little of her little.
My son took the Ivermectin for three days. I wanted him to have it. He recovered very quickly, but he had the same symptoms as I. ( like losing sense of smell and taste) I was sick two weeks of Oct all of November, and weak and exhausted recovering in December till about the 20th.. I am sure the Ivermectin helped my son and he was able to look after me as he felt better .
The first thing we did was start again to find a source of the govt-forbidden Ivermectin. We managed to get some some months later and gradually we stocked up with liquid and paste. There were no questions asked at the feed store. It felt very surreptitious. They were probably pleased to have it back themselves (or maybe it was under the counter and you had to prove you had horses.?)
I am always going to have it in. You never know when they ban it again. I recently got over a flu, just got over it, I had it for over two weeks and it was a bad one involving the chest. I took Ivermectin for the first time. The liquid. I am sure it helped. I was able to stay on my feet more.

Note: I didn’t see the words “death sentence”. (Shabak is a spy agency and Security, kind of the Israeli FBI that specializes in Intelligence related to terrorists in the West Bank and Gaza and in Israel).

And Israel is a spec in size compared to those wide lands.

My thoughts: If the PLO is to be the governing body things will not change. Hamas will still be in charge behind the scenes and the IDF will be constantly tracking Hamas down to eliminate the threats.

Yesterday I drove three small Tapcons into the corner of the lowest step to the front door to help the hold the concrete patch when they pour.
For those that don’t know. A Tapcon is special kind of screw meant to go into concrete. One drills the proper size hole in the concrete with a masonry bit and then drives the screw into that hole. In this case I left the heads of the screws out so the patch would catch on it and hopefully be secure.
By the time I got that done it was time to take Geisha and Buckley to the vet for their appointments. Buckley just got his nails clipped. I held him tight and reassured him while the tech did the clipping. He yipped twice but there was not blood so the tech did a good job.
Geisha got checked for her skin condition and ear infections. The medicated baths have done a good job of getting rid of the crud. Her ears are in a great shape and it seems we have beat the infection she had in one.
Both conditions are probably caused by a spring time allergy. Next time she gets groomed she will be shaved down completely and we will start her growing a new coat. Good thing we have a nice winter coat for her for her trips out to do her business and when she comes in she’ll be able to warm up in front of the fireplace insert.
We got home 1 1/2 hours later. Steve and Betty were out working on the log cabin and immediately went to help. Steve had picked up the logs 15′ long that were needed to go over the door frames. After cleaning it, we lifted the first log up to the frame with Betty running the tractor and Steve and I controlling the log. Once in place I held it there while Steve marked out the location of the notch to be cut out to rest over the door frame. We then took it down and put it on the horses and Steve laid out the notch.
After laying out the notch we put the log on the blocks on the ground. Now I don’t know how many of you have ever seen a hand circular saw with a 16″ blade, but that is what Steve had borrowed and he plunged cut with it to start. That saw weighs about 50 lb. The having penetrated the full 6″ thickness ripping as much of the length of the line as possible the rest was done with a battery powered chain saw.
Because there was only about 2″ of thickness left after notching we then screwed a board on one side of the notch to act as a temporary reinforcement so it would not break at the notch as we sling loaded it by two straps using the boom of the tractor. And put it up in place.
We got the 15′ long logs done for both front and back door this way. The sun was setting when we got them both up and Steve said he was tickled to death to have that done. Those two logs were technically the most difficult to do for the whole build.
Heck….I can’t imagine dealing with a 50lb circular saw! God love y’all manly men!
Steve is a big ole Swede. He is 72 years old and still a Hoss! The hardest working man I’ve ever known. Neither of us have the endurance, strength, or flexibility we once had, but we can still get the job done, and done right, one way or another.
This log cabin with porch with log woodshed behind is probably our last major project together. We will still find plenty to keep us busy around here, keeping at it is what keeps one alive. But we’re done with major DIY projects after this.
As far as my own stuff, I went ahead and asked the concrete contractor to give me a quote for doing the whole driveway with a two car wide pull off. I would love to have it done. Seems like if you want stuff to grow just put gravel down and during the warm weather my drive has a lot of green in it. Probably won’t be able to afford having it done, but I just wanted to know. Sure would be nice. But if I can’t afford it, I can afford going to Mofab and fabricating a pull behind groomer myself to dress the gravel drive and keep it looking descent.
The last project the DH and I worked on was a 16 square concrete slab for our backyard shed. We bought a mixer from Sears years ago when we did a slump stone wall around the house. He mixes, and I tamp it down – work the screed and edger. The two of us really enjoy working with bricks and stone….dunno why, we just do. 😉
Guys build cabins off the grid in the wilderness alone! All hand tools. Moving and lifting the logs alone.

What type corner notches are you using in the build?
The block is notched. Slab in garage sloped 2″ over the 24′ from back to front for drainage. 1/2″ weather seal on the outside.
Since the fill and slab for the sunroom is blocking one of my crawl space vents, I will be adding a little electrical fan on another vent that will draw air through the other vents to keep the crawl space well ventilated.
The concrete guys are here now and have put in over 40 tons of pea gravel fill. They will get that fill all packed, smoothed, and at the proper elevation today. There is a 50% chance of rain tonight into tomorrow. If it does rain then they will wait to pour until the yard dries out. Just before they pour they will lay in 6 mil heavy plastic sheeting for a vapor barrier so the slabs do not sweat. Concrete to be fiber reinforced, so no wire, rebar or rebar chairs necessary. slab thickness the standard 4″.
Looks like I’ll be helping Steve today to put more logs on the cabin. Our obejective will be to get the walls up to the 8′ height and then cover the thing with a temporary roof for the winter. Hopefully we can get the windows and doors installed before the real winter weather hits. But if not we’ll just board it up until spring.

This is just as bad and I can’t believe I didn’t know it before. This popular referendum, if approved, will go into the Ohio Constitution. My state is actually being run as a Democracy (mob rule) how is that even possible? States although independent in most ways cannot make laws, etc. that go against the U.S. Constitution. Why even have a legislature if you can just put something in a referendum and let the mob vote it in. Who knows what the mob will do about the Pot bill. Probably approve that too so everyone can be properly drugged and uncaring about what’s going on around them.

In Jesus’s Holy and Saving Name, may God grow this boy to a living, breathing testimony of God’s Mercy and Kindness and may he grow into a sturdy and noble leader for our future.
My phone is giving me much grief trying to post the link to the GoFundMe. It has some gorgeous pictures of little Jackson’s sweet chubby cheeks and big huge smiles. What a love that boy is!

“We have 6 days until transplant. Jackson is tolerating his chemo conditioning treatment very well. The most intensive chemotherapies will be administered on Sunday and Monday next week. We are expecting more extreme side effects to surface after that.
Right now, his biggest struggle has been nausea but we are able to control it by keeping him on scheduled anti-nausea medications. He was also in a lot of pain for a few days from his line placement, but now he is getting more comfortable with it.
At the moment, Jackson is doing great. He is constantly smiling, and is doing great with his physical therapy! The doctors say that his body is responding perfectly to treatment and they have no concerns going into the transplant.

Update on Bill’s passing, the police have deemed his death a suspicious death, I have been kicked out on the street. I have had it explained to me it is just a way to extort money from the landlord. Since he has no family to collect the body (and pay for the proper services, burial and such) the police are using it as an excuse to hold the property till “a proper investigation is conducted”.

Yes – and I had one half brother and two half-sisters in a 1,000 sq ft home with 1 and 1/4 baths. It was an AWFUL experience. They were significantly older than me – youngest 10 years older than me. I am seriously lucky I wasn’t forced to squat in the yard.
Funny – I had a dream revelation about 2 years after my father’s death in 2007. In my dream, he was in his beautiful California-style heavenly home that had SEVEN bathrooms; the one I saw had both a commode and a separate bidet. He was in Heaven – but he was holding a plunger.
Did you know we will still WORK in Heaven? But what we will be doing will be something we love, so won’t feel like work. He was plunging one of his seven bathrooms’ toilets.
He looked handsome in his cream-colored khaki pants, creamed-colored turtleneck, and a brown sweater vest, looking middle aged, very fit, and holding a plunger. I smile every time remembering him this way.
That’s when I knew that The Lord had taken the best care of my father and that he was okay. It was a good dream.

So next year this administration had mandated that the subsidization will take the form of taking money off the top of the sticker price of the vehicle at time of purchase. Up to $7,000 for new EVs and up to $4,000 for used EVs depending on how high the sticker price is.
Never mind:
Higher purchase price at time of purchase even with the new rules.
Higher cost to fuel, which in some states runs up to the equivalent of $17.00 per gallon.
Higher insurance rates because of the fire hazard and the fact that insurance companies are totaling EVs involved in fender benders because of fear of damage to the battery.
Lack of range.
Much longer time to refuel.
Lack of charging stations and no realistic way that is going to change quickly because of the massive investment in the grid needed to make it happen.

I love coffee, didn’t use to but over time I embraced the smell and taste, still love it but…….it doesn’t love me.
a couple three months ago I was sick, nothing major but recovering seems elongated as I grow hmmmm “more mature”? (Means my teeth are long).
Anyway, I got up for coffee and just didn’t want it, left it alone never got headaches, usually not the case. I didn’t drink it for a month or so and one cold morning I drank a half of a cup. My kidneys began to spasm and all day it was pain that went all the way to the base of my neck. It slowly crept up my back over about 8 hours time. I drank a bunch of water and that night went to bed. Next morning no issues, and no coffee.
About two weeks ago I started drinking coffee again and my knees began to hurt, bad enough that I couldn’t walk. Quit the coffee and, pain gone.
Now, months ago I had an MRI on my right knee, meniscus was torn up pretty good which was no surprise I’ve squatted sense I was in my teens and now 58 still squat, leg press, hacks, extensions, leg curls, bla bla bla always knee pain but, when I drink coffee it is debilitating pain.
Sense I quit, shoulders don’t hurt as much, hips better, elbows, all of it better.
I know there are different coffee substitutes so my quest is on, any experience with substitutes please let me know of them.
Im going to give credit to God on this, his way is exactly as it went. First, “didn’t want it” at that point I should have known. ( that’s total faith) Second time I realized why, but my flesh be weak. Third time was “yeah it’s killing you stop, that’s why I gave you that lack of desire.”
The lesson was worth it, means he loves me and is close. We all need that.
