I now go out of my way to avoid paying taxes, tolls, fees, licenses, etc. The biggest fed tax revenues (probably state too) come from individual income tax and corporate income tax, followed by highway tax, alcohol tax and tobacco tax.
Please correct me if I’m wrong because my intent is to starve the beast. If that drives us into recession then so be it. I am way past fed up with this bullshit.

There apparently was no turnout effort in KY and GOP was outspent in all the races. It isn’t just Ronna, it’s the whole RNC infrastructure. They’ll just get someone else like her. They need to get serious about voter turnout-and that means mail in, taking people to the polls, ballot harvesting when legal and when not, getting out and identifying people to get to the polls or helping them get mail in ballots. People are delusional if they think Trump is way up in swing states or with blacks, women, or young people. Not a chance. Cameron got absolutely trounced and the 2024 election will be worse if our side doesn’t start identifying young people on our side and getting them to vote. Instead, the entire GOP apparatus seems to be grifting off of baby boomers and egging them on with fake polls. Gen Z voters will outnumber baby boomer voters in 2024, and we need to get a whole lot more of them and millennials too. The numbers don’t lie. I never ever hear anyone on the GOP side talk about that; they instead egg on the baby boomers that everyone’s really on our side and elections are fixed when we lose. No, we lose because we don’t turn out people who support MAGA policies. Gen Z is ripe for the picking but the GOP isn’t bothering to try.
It’s really up to us to get it done.

I live in a very blue county in NH.
Every single Thursday I can see the local Democrats all gathered up at a coffee joint in town filling out postcards together and working the room.
They do this there as a group of loud, laughing women having a great time and generating attention.
Customers come along and say “whatcha up to ladies?” and then do they get an ear full.
We are fighting an opponent that worships, lives and breathes their politics. They PRACTICE their politics at their government jobs, every where they go– their cars are plastered with bumper stickers.
They are never not ON.
And we are not like this at all.. not in the numbers needed.
We have jobs and families, we are largely not wired like this, this is not what our values and belief system looks like.
We’ve have got to get in through our heads that yes, there is voter fraud, there is issues like this, BUT we are not in the game anywhere to the degree they are though.
They are playing out their war games and we are playing checkers- if the fish aren’t biting.
We’re not winning because we barely play the game.. then add in the fact that we’ve got all these RINOs working against us.

In the article, they talk about the eurodollar. They talk about the need for collateral. They correctly talk about the importance of short duration for that collateral.
What they don’t talk about is the long duration of eurodollar collateral that was expected to leverage the eurodollar. Before the 2008 train wreck, financial markets expected interest rates to float. After 2009 and QT we all saw the emergence of a decreasing interest rate.
I think it was easy to predict that Asian risk takers would use long duration financial instruments for collateral for their eurodollar exploits. Why not? As time went on and the interest rate decreased, your US dollar denominated financial instruments used for collateral gained value. Lower interest rates meant increased leverage. Everybody used it to the max.
Today is different. I suspect many in China are laying awake at night thinking of ways to squirm out from under their duration blanket.
The Eurodollar system in general prevents hyperinflation until it doesn’t because when the US prints, it’s doing so for the entire world (a denominator of 250 million vs. a denominator of 8 billion is a big difference). Trippen’s Dilemma happened in 07. There’s been a global dollar shortage since then. Because of the Fed’s BS 2% inflation target that they haven’t been able to get to until recently, the system’s had tons of problems, creating a silent depression that we haven’t gotten out of. We could get out of it, if the DXY went to 30 cents, but that’s not gonna happen for a lot of reasons. The only way the dollar doesn’t end up crashing higher in the next decade is if the US loses its’ reserve currency status. And ain’t no one gonna care about abortion when this thing goes.
Exactly. All the problems that so consume us today will become mere abstractions when the dollar loses its reserve status. This is happening, but slowly. Think of the bilateral agreements now going back almost a decade between NZ and AUS trading with China. As these agreements pile up, the dollar will be dying the death of a thousand cuts. Exiling Russia from SWIFT will turn out to be one of the biggest strategic blunders on the part of a great power in history. Once BRICS gets its exchange mechanisms worked out, things will go downhill fast.
If you think about the balance sheets generated by your scenario, you end up with itty bitty balance sheets that have no global appeal. If Australia and New Zealand do that long enough (and stay in the global trading/financial system) their banks get bought for a song. The buyers won’t be China, Australia, or New Zealand.
It’s not going to play out how most think it will, I’ll say that much. It’s a sobering, infuriating history to look at and think about. There’s simply no system in place, nor a system being created to replace/duplicate the Eurodollar system. You can say the west is pushing CBDC’s, but guess what, so is every other country on Earth. The more talk there is about replacing the dollar, the less likely it is to happen. And, at current trajectory, the US crashes last.

I see the CBDC scenario as one similar to the snowmobile industry in the late 1960’s. At that time, I think there were ~300 different manufacturers. Fast forward 30 years and there were 4. The Chinese do not trust their stock market. They have no real choice in the matter. In the past they put their eggs in real estate baskets. With interest rates going up (following the US lead) Chinese real estate is in trouble. Any smart investor over there is actively looking to get some funds out of China.

Men need the ability to earn enough to buy home and raise a family. Nothing else is going to fill the black hole in a drug addict’s life
I think you make a good point, that addiction can sometimes be a systemic problem exacerbated by things like poverty or difficulties earning a living wage. But sometimes addiction runs in families who share a genetic sensitivity toward it, or a generational dynamic of passing on harmful habits from parents and between siblings. Many addicts will give up their family ties just to keep a job, so they can keep using.
There isn’t any single effective drug treatment. Each case has to be evaluated individually, and it’s impossible to predict ahead of time what kind of approach will help achieve lasting sobriety. You may have to try different ways or combinations between voluntary abstinence, medically-supervised withdrawal, group homes, counseling and/or involuntary institutionalization. Rough as it is, sometimes prison works. Other times nothing but dying “works”.
My father was alcoholic, which ruined my parents marriage, but he died in his 60s from conditions caused by chain-smoking unfiltered Lucky Strikes. It’s possible I never saw him sober. He came back with these addictions (plus PTSD) from WW2, where he had been through all that terrible Pacific War island-by-island combat as a teenager. My mother and siblings all acquired asthma from second-hand smoke, as did I. Sometimes you do the right thing (his military service) and it still all ends in tragedy. Addiction isn’t simple, nor simply solved.
Drug Treatment maybe a waste of money… but it’s a waste of money on AMERICANS.

In these text message exchanges, the defendants allegedly sent customers a “menu” of available options at the brothel, including the women and sexual services available and the hourly rate.
Additionally, the defendants allegedly texted customers directions to the brothel’s location – a high-end apartments – where they engaged in commercial sex with the women.
