It took more than 10 years, but Alabama avoided much of the unrest that other areas endured. Now, Ozero; that “fool” did more to hurt race relations than anyone I know of in the last 20 years.

Our daughter who is recently married and gave birth to our first grandchild in May, and who’s husband is in the military just informed us the military notified them today that if the government shutdown occurs, they will have to figure out how to move themselves to their next post (Ft Lewis, Wa) in November.
She hated Trump and I just made sure to let her know the best President ever, never would allow the troops to go without.
I also reminded her the Ukraine won’t be affected by the shutdown.

A highly respected “think tank” just came out with a report that if the United States entered the war in Ukraine and fought against Russia the US Military would lose 3,600 men a day. In the first two weeks of the conflict we would lose 50,000 soldiers as many as we lost over ten years in Vietnam.

If the regional grids suffered cascading and cataclysmic failures, it would not be out of the realm of possibility to say that rebuilding the grid would take decades.
The green new deal is intended to push those systems beyond any expectation of reliability.
Some have suggested that the potential grid failure to support an entire EV nation is precisely what Green Fascists are aiming for. They want us to lose individual autonomy re. transportation. They want us to be slaves to a government run public transportation system / network.

I don’t know if it is even worth my mentioning here that this whole “New Green Deal” is not really a viable solution. It is more of a fantasy or an unobtainable goal; If it is thought by so many to be able to be implemented in the next 6 +/- years ( 2030).
Think about it…
Ships that bring supplies to the USA ( and ALL OVER THE WORLD) need to use Diesel, not wind, for the most part, to run the engines that move the ships that bring the supplies to the USA/World.
Once those ships reach ports worldwide, they are off loaded by, for the most part, diesel fueled engines to run the cranes to offload the shipping containers.
Then it is usually diesel run trucks and diesel/electric train engines to move the products across the roads & railroads to the interior to be distributed.
Once reaching the distribution hubs, those supplies need to be moved to other warehouses or outlets to then be transported to the places that sell those products, and that is done mostly by diesel run engines in assorted types in trucks/vans, to reach their final POS(Point Of Sale) like a store.
None of this can be changed over to “Electric Only” in the next 6 +/- years with any reliability. Let alone having the Electric grid infrastructure to support this supply chain.
Even the JP( Jet Propulsion) fuels such as JP-4 & JP-5 or related fuels for large Aircraft is basically “diesel” (petroleum) in makeup. So, changing the A/C(Air/Craft) over to something other than a diesel based fuel is not likely in such a short time.
Next, if one considered the infrastructure of roads & rails, then one must consider the equipment that builds & maintains such infrastructure.
The equipment that does this is almost entirely done with diesel machines, like D-8 or bigger bulldozers, graders, assorted diggers & finishing bulldozers, front-end loaders, etc., as well as the trucks and other related equipment to build , repair & maintain roads & rails.
None of this will be done on “bio-diesel” either. All of the deep fried goods in the world can’t supply enough to run all of these diesel engines.
( Nor is there enough non gasoline vehicles out there to replace the gasoline powered vehicles that get folks to & from the outlets where the goods are sold(at POS outlets like stores.))
Next, just in one example alone, the USA is NOT like the European countries where there are more “local” markets(stores) and more public transportation choices to get to & from the markets/stores & to home where items produced, sold & then utilized. The USA, along with a Lot of larger countries( Russia/Australia/Canada/Et Al.) do not have the more dense population & societies that can take advantage of shorter distance to the POS to the consumer as smaller countries have to use.
It is like one YUGE “pipe-dream” to think that ANY COUNTRY, let alone the USA, can just change over to some sort of viable energy resource other than one based on petroleum/natural gas/etc. ( < so-called “fossil fuels”) in 6 +/- years.
Hell, not even in 60 +/- years I would guess, would be a timeline to change things over.
All of this “GREEN” Bullshit is nice to mentally masturbate about, but the reality truly is that it would take decades to change things across the globe to turn everything “Green”.

I get some walking exercise inside the air conditioning stores.

Union leadership is selling their members down the river. They’ve done this before with other auto plants.
Leadership keeps their members distracted with strikes over work rules and hourly pay rates. Six months later the plant is closed and the jobs are sent to China. Everyone blames the union members for being intransigent when the plant closing was the plan all along and union leadership was in on it.
Here the difference is that the plan is for gas powered cars made in the USA to be replaced by electric cars made in China. They aren’t just expatriating jobs, they are killing the entire auto industry.
