As a multi decade member of a large union piping trade, I can assure you that rank and file workers don’t listen to the bought off leadership. Watching Fain yesterday, I had to laugh because he reminded me of my past “leadership.” I remember receiving a mailing with all State and Federal candidates to vote for, with pictures! The pamphlet told me that they did the research so I didn’t have to! How kind of them.

Consider that Unions are not about delivering votes any more as unionized labor now comprises less than 5-10% of the work force.
Unions occupy many of the top 20 spots of Political Cash Donation lists, normally 100-0 to 90-10 in favor of democrats. Plus, their key members are now concentrated in places that can shut down regions, nations and other industries.
To summarize the primary values of Union LEADERSHIP support:
Money Source and Money Laundering
Ability to shut things down (Communications, Transportation and Government-Civil Services).
