For those who play the long game, the Republican elite may be conceding the inevitably that Trump wil likely be the 2024 Republican candidate and may very well defeat the Democratic candidate. If so, they must be seen by the majority of Republicans as supporting the party’s candidate or risk ostracization. The larger question becomes who will pick up the America First mantle in 2028? Because after Trump’s legacy we cannot retreat back to GOPe business as usual. But the Kemp’s, etc. will certainly try to re-establish dominance of the Uniparty.
