Ukrainian War – Russian Offensive Begins-
This week the Ukrainian army committed its last reserve brigade with western equipment to its counter-offensive. It will get ground up just like the forces it is replacing. The furthest the counter-offensive has gone in total was in the south of Orkiv where it progressed some 12 kilometer. It took more than 72 days, and many losses of men and material, to get that far. Tokmak, an important traffic center that Ukraine would like to take, is still 12 kilometer away. It is also protected by several well build defensive lines which the Ukrainian forces will be unable to cross.
On the second axis of the counter-offensive, south of Velyka Novosilka, the maximum progress is some 6 to 8 kilometer. Several small villages, now destroyed, were captured along the way. The number of lives lost during the fight is much bigger than the number of inhabitants those villages previously had.
The aim of the counter-offensive was to reach the Azov Sea or, if that was not possible, to go far enough to get all southern roads under artillery fire. The distance from the frontline to the sea as of June 5 was 100 kilometer. There are still 88 kilometer to go. But time is running out and all reserves have been committed.
Over the last week the Russian Defense Ministry reported on average 770 Ukrainian frontline casualties per day. The Ukrainian counter-offensive will likely culminate next week. It has reached is maximum potential and will now peter out.
That is the moment when the Russian army will go on the offensive. A sure sign of this was last night’s visit of President Putin to Rostov-on-Don from where the ‘special military operation’ is controlled. General Gerasimov, the leader of the Russian military, and others briefed Putin about their plans.
I have no idea where or how large the Russian offensive will be, but two days ago the Belorussian President Lukashenko gave a hint of its potential size:

Food, as much as possible, and don’t get too hung up on expensive, dehydrated “good for 25 years” as you can get far more storable food, buying canned and dry, and expending minimal $ and effort to store it.
Do your research on prepper/survivalist sights, again avoiding the hype, and focus on basics.
Water purification is more practical than storing water, although water beds are good dual use, lol.
As for Cash, some certainly but trade items, which have an intrinsic value, are more attractive, IMHO than cash, which if it lost its value as currency, isn’t even useful as toilet paper.
And Gold is only useful for storing your wealth, in order to carry it thru the bad times, NOT for surviving the bad times.
Ammo is a good storage medium for wealth, a good alternative to cash; it holds its value, keeping up with inflation, impractical to counterfiet, available in easily divisible units, and different denominations.
I go with .22’s, .223 (BRASS, not steel shells!) 9 mm., and 12 g buck.

I’m not an expert but this is what I learned in the Boy Scouts.
“Disinfect water using household bleach, if you can’t boil water. Only use regular, unscented chlorine bleach products that are suitable for disinfection and sanitization as indicated on the label. The label may say that the active ingredient contains 6 or 8.25% of sodium hypochlorite. Do not use scented, color safe, or bleaches with added cleaners.If water is cloudy, let it settle and filter it through a clean cloth, paper towel, or coffee filter.
Locate a clean dropper from your medicine cabinet or emergency supply kit.
Locate a fresh liquid chlorine bleach or liquid chlorine bleach that is stored at room temperatures for less than one year.
Use the table below as a guide to decide the amount of bleach you should add to the water, for example, 8 drops of 6% bleach, or 6 drops of 8.25% bleach, to each gallon of water. Double the amount of bleach if the water is cloudy, colored, or very cold.
Glass containers
Stir and let stand for 30 minutes. The water should have a slight chlorine odor. If it doesn’t, repeat the dosage and let stand for another 15 minutes before use.
If the chlorine taste is too strong, pour the water from one clean container to another and let it stand for a few hours before use.

I think that largely depends on your location, city or rural and duration of event you are preparing for.
Many in rural areas have their own wells, septic systems and gardens so they will have it easier than those whose resources will be limited in the city.
That guy Burry (The big Short) has bet on a stock market collapse soon. I am nobody but I happen to agree and expect it early September. Cash on hand may be what ever you are ALLOWED if you wait too long. Bank runs follow collapses.
We pulled everything out of 401k and invested in what I consider more valuable, land without a mortgage, moved cash to credit union but who knows if it will be much better off.
I spent $ on things like canners and canning jars, seeds, laying hens, guns and ammo as being important. The garden has been gangbusters this year and should soon have a years’ worth of food set aside.

I was privy to a conversation the other day of someone who went to Colorado for a brief vacay and while they were there they hit the marijuana shops. They had apparently done this many times before and could get anything they wanted at multiple shops, same or different days, it did not matter.
After making their purchase at shop #1, they moved on to shop #2 and had their purchase on the counter with the clerk ringing it up, when the clerk said, “Didn’t you already purchase some of this today across town at x shop?”
He said, “Yeah, but you aren’t supposed to know that.”
Apparently in this particular state you have limits on what you can buy in a day and the pot shop systems all talk to each other in real time.

It’s been five years since the feds took aim at nasal decongestant. Under George Bush, a normal part of everyday civilized life became a criminal act, namely the over-the-counter purchase of Sudafed and many other products containing pseudoephedrine. You can get it now, but it is seriously rationed. You have to present your driver’s license and no one without one may purchase it. The limits on quantities you are permitted to purchase fall far below the recommended dosage, and buyers rarely know when they are buying too much.
The rationing and criminalization of this product appeared as part of the Patriot Act. The replacement drug phenylephrine is far less effective on noses but more effective in Washington: the company that makes it, Boehringer Ingelheim, spent $1.6 million lobbying Washington in 2006 (the latest data) and the same amount the year before. The makers of the drug everyone actually wants are diffuse and spread all over China. Pseudoephedrine was targeted in the name of the drug war because apparently you can use it to make methamphetamine. Since the near ban, there are indications that production of the drug has gone up, mostly due to smuggling in Mexico. Even a quick google demonstrates that the gray market is thriving.
I’ve written with sympathy toward those who have been caught in the legal tangles; many buyers are not actually doing anything wrong. Anyone who attempts to buy it is treated like a criminal and one never knows for sure when one is buying more than the legal limit. In several cases I’ve highlighted, people have bought without the intent to manufacture drugs but were ensnared in any case. In other cases, people have been asked to buy for friends who may or may not have been plotting to make meth. Still other cases involve shady figures with criminal records and suspicious associations who are thereby discredited and hounded by police and judges.
In my view, every person who is ensnared deserves to be defended. Their rights are being violated. One lady in my own community faces 20 years in jail solely for buying 4 boxes in a 12-day period. News reports suggest that she is a bad person for many other reasons, and, for that reason, there has been little public sympathy for her — in the same way that people under alcohol prohibition were snagged on alcohol grounds even though the motivation for getting them was different (could be taxes or something else).
Something as serious as laws and jails should be used for punishment of those who infringe on person and property, not for self-medicating. If this lady is bad, she should be punished for things she did wrong, not for some trumped-up reason.

My wife and I and our dog are prepared and waiting for the wind & rain here in Northwest Las Vegas. The forecast is for 3 days of rain. Las Vegas averages only 4.25 inches per year, so we would be happy to get as much as we can! August is “monsoon season”, which means high winds (as much as 70 mph), so we are used to that. We will see what happens as the meteorologists are wrong most of the time! Usually overexaggerate. My wife is looking forward to seeing Jim Cantore giving his reports!
The local weather people are saying this may be a 100 year event. Las Vegas sits at the bottom of a bowl surrounded by mountains; all the rain flows down to the Strip. We been here for 20 years and many billions of dollars have been spent on flood control and retention basins. This will be a great test of that system.
Remember, no matter how much rain you get, no matter how long and hard it rains..it will never rain over Lake Powell according to the mainstream news media! LOL
