There couldn’t be a more stark comparison, or more telling rebuke, than what the Lord is saying here. People who were not told anything, but that they would be destroyed in forty days, showed so far more appropriate fear and response, than millions who have all the holy scriptures, and the Lord Jesus Christ Himself living and walking among them! 

What then is this generation today any better than those unbelieving and impenitent of Capernaum, Chorazin, and Bethsaida? And of all the places where Jesus worked the most of His miracles, and taught, more than anywhere else, but they never repented? This word is pronounced, to all the peoples where this gospel has come; which have done the same; who have been proud and disobedient, who have refused to humble themselves or fear before God.

Jeremiah 25:15-17, 27-30 “For thus says the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it. And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them. Then took I the cup at the Lord’s hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the Lord had sent me: . . . Therefore thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Drink ye, and be drunken, and spew, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you. Romans 1:18-21 “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. People today have by and large become immune to the Gospel. They have heard it all their lives, and have no fear of God. Many indeed have a form of religion, they deny its power to save them from sin, or its authority to separate them from the world. With their mouths they show much love, and surround themselves with religious decorations, but their hearts they have removed far away from God. How come John the Baptist said to the people, especially to the ultra-orthodox, Say not that we have Abraham for our father; for God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham? Because God does not respect the offering nor the one who offers hypocrisy; but commands us all to bring forth fruits fitting of repentance! 

As the son of Nebuchadnezzar was feasting his ungodly friends and supporters; and they were eating and drinking out of the holy vessels of the Sanctuary, and praising their gods; there came the famous writing on the wall; “You have been weighed in the balance and found wanting. The kingdom is taken away, and given to the Persians and the Medes.” While the contemporary churches are feasting themselves without fear, and eating and drinking from the holy vessels of the Sanctuary, the writing is on the wall now for them likewise. 

Revelation 3:1-3, 14-19 “These things says He that has the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know your works, that you hast the Name that you live, and are dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found your works perfect before God. Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore you shall not watch, I will come on you as a thief, and you shall not know what hour I will come upon you . . . These things says the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot: I would you were cold or hot. So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth. Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel you to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness do not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye-salve, that you may see. The ax is laid to the root of the trees; and every tree not producing good fruit, is cut down and thrown into the fire. This country was founded by people who greatly feared God, and lived according to their conscience, to keep themselves pure. But now, not even that many generations after; their descendants are nothing resembling the Christians that they were. Instead they have a contemporary, carnally minded, easy on sin, worldly, other Jesus, and other Gospel, that has no power to save them really from their sins; and only asks for selfish sinners to “accept Jesus!” and ask Him into their unclean idolatrous hearts, to be the so-called Lord of their life.

Proverbs 30:11-14 “There is a generation that curses their father, and does not bless their mother. There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up. There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.” 

Remember the advice and warning which the Lord Jesus gave; As it was in the days of Noah, and as it was in the days of Lot: all that God sees and knows, of all the apostasy and unthinkable abominations and corruption and the earth filled with violence; He knows that man also sees and knows; but he does not regard to care about the signs of the times; and vainly imagines, that time will just go on for ever. And then one morning they woke up, and it was all over; and terrors seized upon them, and the hypocrites were the worst of fools; because they had the knowledge, and rejected it.

Ho, boy — so today we get an explanation for why the civil defense sirens weren’t activated during the Lahaina fire

They didn’t want people to mistake it for a tsunami warning and run the wrong way (“mauka” – or toward the mountains, away from the ocean … tsunami, get it?)

Now – if the residents heard the blaring sirens and stepped outside to see a big black cloud of smoke, don’t we think they’d figure it out? “Hmmm – looks like a bad fire, maybe we should evacuate”

This is emblematic of Hawaii and the people they put in decision-making positions in government hierarchies (IQ about 80)

I’ve got my own short-hand on how they make important decisions in Hawaii, like $9-Billion dollar trains that only go halfway to the destination (original estimate $3 Billion)

They get everyone in a big room and ask “Ok – what’s the absolute stoooooopidest way we can do this?”

And everyone pokes their fingers down and says “YEAH !!! THAT way !!!”

And that’s how we get civil defense sirens not activated and false alerts for incoming nuclear missiles from North Korea and $9 Billion-dollar trains that only go halfway to the destination.

Good morning all.
Here it comes. Though the NHC shows nothing at this time for the disturbance I talked about yesterday, both Joe Bastardi and Levie Cowan are now saying they expect it to develop into the Tropical Storm in the Northern Gulf next week. Joe seems to think that it will be a weak TS that will come ashore in Texas and that because of the weather patterns it may be like Tropical Storm Erin (2007) – Wikipedia and maintain its strength well in land. He says this only happens with weak tropical storms in certain conditions.

Obviously if this comes to pass you folks in Texas get relief from the dry oven you’ve been baking in for most of the summer.

Meanwhile in the Eastern Pacific they have shifted the projected path of Hillary to the west a bit so now it looks like it will come in over the Tiajuana/San Diego area. They project it will develop into a major hurricane (CAT 3 or higher) out over water but weaken to a Tropical Storm before reaching the US early Monday morning.

Concerning Hurricanes in general. Over the last few years a pattern has emerged. Tropical Storms that have developed into powerful hurricanes have been smaller tightly wrapped storms having a relatively smaller wind field. Larger storms having an extensive wind field have been weaker. This is a shift from the way things were in the 50’s through the 70’s when quite often the major hurricanes had huge wind fields compared to what has been happening the last decade.

This a good thing of course. It is almost always the storm surge and flooding kills far more people and does far more damage than the wind. And with a larger storm with a larger wind field the winds driving the water ashore last longer and thus the surge is greater.

There are exceptions to every rule. For example Hurricane Andrew – Wikipedia which was a very tightly wrapped and compact CAT 5 hurricane that packed the equivalent wind speed of a Cat IV tornado over an area much larger than a tornado. The damage from that fast moving storm was primarily from wind and not storm surge.

I couldn’t help myself. As I did the shopping and then mowed the yard, Sherry cooked a Chuck Roast in the crockpot all day yesterday with baby carrots. We had that with mashed potatoes and beef gravy and cucumber and tomato salad from our garden.

I am now sitting here with a chuck roast sandwich on a big bun with horseradish sauce for my breakfast. It just sounded good to me!

Today I will split and stack the logs from the big Chinese Elm that we worked on Sunday. Rain is not supposed to arrive until this afternoon and I hope to get it all split and stacked in the lean-to before it comes in. I still have a full pickup truck load of cured wood to split and stack after that. But Steve has two more smaller Chinese Elms to take down and I want that uncured wood stacked behind my cured wood so most of what is in my pickup will have to wait.

PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD

Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.

I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.

I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.

Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.

May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.

With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.

Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me. 

Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced that the U.S. Attorney for Delaware, David Weiss, has been named special counsel to investigate the finances of President Biden’s family. Pray for judges, attorneys, and investigators involved in the mounting legal issues surrounding President Biden and his family as well as former President Donald Trump. 

LEGISLATIVE BRANCH: PRAY FOR SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES IN CONGRESS
Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii said she would make no excuses for policies that led to the failure to activate sirens that would have warned residents of Lahaina of the flames that overwhelmed the region, destroying the historic town and killing over 100 people. She said Hawaii’s attorney general is launching a review. 

Pray for families who have lost loved ones, homes, and businesses as a result of the wildfires in Hawaii. Pray for those coordinating and participating in recovery efforts. 

PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party is investigating a security threat posed by cellular connectivity modules that can shut down vehicles. According to the committee, the modules, which connect the internet in electric cars, as well as in tractors and medical equipment among other devices, could be turned off by China at will. 

Pray for legislators as they investigate these devices and for technology engineers who seek to overcome the threats.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case of Moore v. United States which considers the constitutionality of the 2017 Tax Cut and Jobs Act, the constitutionality of a wealth tax, and a mandatory repatriation tax on pre-2018 profits of some companies and some U.S. shareholders stored abroad. Some analysts are concerned the case could imperil the entire U.S. tax code.

The court ruled in favor of a football coach who was fired by his school district for using his First Amendment right to pray after games.

• The secretary of state of Oregon has disqualified ten state senators from election next term because they violated a rule that a legislator cannot have more than 10 unexcused absences during a legislative session. Earlier this year there was a legislative walkout—the longest in state history—that led to a backlog of hundreds of bills. 
• The secretary of state of New Mexico has offered to settle a lawsuit involving disallowing a think tank access to voter information by paying a $22,000 settlement. State officials are working on more transparency in response to FOIA requests. 
• Pray for secretaries of state and lieutenant governors across the states as they are generally the second in authority should something happen to the state governors.

Hallowed be Thy Name. 
Thy Kingdom come. 
Thy Will be done, 
on earth as it is in Heaven.
