I agree on focusing LOCAL/State. The State R party Chair, is unfortunately where many focus; Dr. Kelli Ward in Az. Karamo in Mich (IIRC) and this gal in Delaware.
However, the chair is controlled by the State Party Executive Committee, and THATS where the REAL power lies.
In terms of PUBLIC elected Officials, its not just, or even primarily the SoS, its the County Recorders and “election boards” or “County boards of Supervisors”; THEY are the ones who “count the votes” and they really only need to control the County Recorders in a few key Counties in each State.
This court case could get very interesting. What most people don’t realize is Texas was never a Territory but was an independent country for 9 years recognized by other countries and joined the US under a treaty that gives it powers that other states do not have. The legal validity of that treaty has been recognized by the courts in the 20th century. The failure of the Biden administration to defend the borders of Texas forcing Texas to step up and defend the borders could be looked at as a failure to live up to the terms of the treaty thus invalidating the treaty which would have some very interesting implications.

Looked into write-in rules here in this state, and discovered that unless the name was pre-approved, any other name invalidated the whole ballot. Then asked, how does one find out who is pre-approved. Was told, only when you show up to vote and ask to write-in will they provide the pre-approved names.
Hmmm. Will be writing state reps to demand more open process. Do they want me to invalidate my vote for them???

RV’ing too is becoming housing more than recreation.
I’ve done a lot to travel in our camper. “Fulltiming” is something that for decades, was a bit of an adventure- going for a year or two to see the country or, for snowbirds/ retirement. We’d run into fulltimers occasionally and chat about it. Now they are the norm.
Not only is there an explosion of folks living in their RVs or travel trailers, many many more campgrounds with sewer hookups are now catering to fulltimers/residents. A few campgrounds we have stayed at recently are dealing with problems like junk accumulation on a rented campsite and/or coping with children running all over. Some are converting to 6 month leases, and mobilehome parks are being converted to fulltimer RV parks.
My cousin- a former dem- has little kids that she now homeschools so she and her husband rented an RV recently to “test” whether they could RV around the country instead buying another home at this point since they r not sure where they want to live– where they would have the most freedom.
Been at it for 15+ years, it is a way to “drop out” of the credit trap, consumerist economy, …to “cut the cord” on so much.
It requires CHANGE, which unfortunately we humans are naturally resistent to, but I would NEVER, EVER go back to any other lifestyle.
And, for “preppers/survivalists” you HOME is your BOV (Bug out Vehicle).
One of the main things that holds people back from evacuating when they SHOULD, is emotional attachement to their home, and their stuff.
We live near RR tracks, close enough we would hear and be awakened by a derailment, like what happened in New Palestine, Ohio.
By the time “the authorities” come around to tell us to “close our windows, and shelter in place” (while they light up a burn pit) WE would be many miles down the road, WITH our home.
dutchman: I spent the last month driving around the US (and Ontario, Canada), basically living out of our Jeep. Whenever we arrived in a town of considerable size, I couldn’t wait to get back out on the open road, in the country, or in the mountains.

My cousin is meeting up with other home school groups living in RVs on the road. Her husband needs to work and RVs are tiny and they have little noisy kids… but he was receptive to giving it a try… so that’s what they are doing now.

After the President is re-elected we can arrest people for crimes and get all of them, not just the “front” people like Biden.

I have a theory about corruption in nations. The theory is that all nations have similar levels of corruption. That in any given nation there will be a level of corruption that on average will be equivalent to that found in any other nation. Say x%. % of what is an issue of how to quantify the corruption. X% of the population are corrupt? X% of the GDP is paid about in bribes. No matter the units used, on a scale of morality, I posit that the % is about the same across nations.
Our traditional view of the US (from within) as compared to other nations has been that the US is not as corrupt, because for US citizens traveling elsewhere the corruption in other nations is often shockingly overt, at all levels of the nation. Bribes must be paid to everyone from dog catcher to Supreme High Poobah. That overt wide-spread corruption has served to lull us into believing that the US is special, that in the US corruption is rare, thus less, than elsewhere.
HAH! In other nations the system allows Equal Opportunity corruption. Every person is empowered to exploit the power at hand to the degree that power is available to them, and every person moving and working in the nation is expected to purchase that degree of largesse that they can and choose to afford. Most other nations have Equal Opportunity corruption, where the masses share in the system, each according to his or her position and means.
What we have in the US is concentrated corruption. The common peasantry is allowed no opportunity to profit from the system as buyer or seller. Only the lofty elite are allowed a seat in the game. The little people serve only to cover the chits. Yet the total corruption of the nation is no less than that of another nation where all would share in the purchase and sale of favor.

Everyone who was willing to participate could be in on it. When the visibility is low the perception of corruption is minimal, hence there is little need to allow participation of the masses to keep them pacified. The system works. Likewise, if the visibility is high but the Ability to participate is also high, the sum remains near parity and the system operates. The problem is when V is high but Ap is low. The student is challenged to consider what happens next: When V is high but Ap is low, what will the next step be? Will the powers at the top reduce V or increase Ap? Or both, or neither?

You’re probably right, but I think what distinguished us, for the longest time, was that our Founders also knew that and went to great pains to design a minimal governmental system which would have the least possible power to do the least possible damage.
It was the progressive forces over the years which subtly, slowly, but steadily erased the side rails keeping us from becoming Zimbabwe which have by now developed the ability to do whatever they want. And what they want is to ensure their continued existence and power.
No longer subtle or slow, no longer needed, as they have cemented their position.
Correct. What many don’t see is the extent that the forces of evil are mobilized. Unless you are trapped in one of the large urban sewers a person is easily able to trust that the violence in the streets is “random” and “isolated”. It’s neither.

not so sure about that… my sense is that as society and standards crumble, corruption genuinely GROWS – not just becomes more exposed… because the people who comprise the government surmise that there are less consequences and that it is an acceptable activity to be part of. its also important to understand that many do not regard what they do as corruption.

As to the first part, I’m not convinced. Consider the possibility that the same total percentage of corruption (used as a catch-all for gaming the system, rigging the deal, whatever) is the same in each nation. Consider further that the appearance of corruption may be very slight when the corruption is highly focused in a small select group who are motivated and disciplined to keep their advantage a well-guarded secret.
The appearance of corruption growing larger may be a reflection of the small group being expanded as each member has family, friends and others who are brought into the game. As the number of insiders grows the visibility to the outsiders also increases. As the insider group size increases the total corruption may only be spread slightly thinner, until it reaches a point where the pickings are too thin for the formerly elite. Plus of course when a new insider brings in more insiders the quality of the new insiders diminishes. “Quality” here being the ability to keep the secret.
The same analysis may not apply to smaller groups. For instance at a family level it may not hold, or a tribe, a monastery, a small company. But when a system grows large and complex to the point where no small cadre of leaders can possibly keep track of even the large currents of the parts, the corruption will be there.
I recall reading that someone discovered a pretty accurate measure of corruption of different countries, by looking at traffic/parking tickets issued to diplomats by NYPD.
They have “Diplomatic immunity, so are basically exempt from traffic laws.
Some countried diplomats, from ME, Countries S of the U.S. Border, and others would routinely ignore traffic laws, park illegally etc. and ignore the tickets.
Other countries, I specifically recall Scandinavian countries, rarely if ever had tickets issued to them.
I think corruption CAN become indemic, but not sure it is INEVITABLE.
A personal ethos of flaunting the mores of society is one fair measure of something. Perhaps of amorality For example, big time drug busts and other major crimes are frequently exposed because of a traffic stop for speeding or for not paying for gas or some other relatively minor crime. Those who routinely ignore major laws surely don’t notice minor laws.

The US Fed manages rates for political reasons.
Raising rates pressures the eurodollar market to pull in it’s horns and lower leverage… slowing global economic activity… lowering inflation.
The British banking system is global and too large for the country. It is in competition with other global banks and needs to pare down. There is a point where interest rates are too high for Britain as their overbanked economy hits the skids. Same goes for China and Japan.
The battle for global currency prowess continues. Common sense says grab some popcorn and pick your spots to make money.
US interest rates seem to have hit that sweet spot many economists forecasted. The rates are manageable for the US economy and a problem for other economies that are more financially “geared” (more debt… less equity).
As many economists have forecast, the US needs to keep rates at this level (or drift higher if conditions warrant) to slowly leak air out of the eurodollar banking system by lowering leverage in the global banking system. It is expected this will happen for a year or more, until mortgage roll-overs in the US hit the point that interest rates need to drift down.
Most of this deleveraging in the eurodollar market is targeted to happen within non-US global banks. That means less banking profit in the British economy. London & Chinese real estate prices will take a hit.

They decided to make a movie about some of what took place at their church and others, and wrap it in historic events that the Lord used to build His church through persecution, and heroes, of Christ’s church.

Kids today have no guidance, no sense of just about anything.
Graduation from high school should be to know our country’s founding documents, balance an account, self defense, individually.
