When I talk to liberals about this case, they always say that it doesn’t matter if the jury was influenced as, in their minds, the police officer was justly found guilty.
My point is that it doesn’t matter if the guy was guilty or not. He did not receive his Constitutionally guaranteed right to a fair trial with the threat of violence hanging over the jury during the case and their deliberation.

I question the accepted wisdom which totally dismisses and denigrates “the Courts” and specifically SCOTUS.
On “the Courts” we HAVE gotten some very favorable rulings lately.
For instance, a KEY case on elections, that most are unfamiliar with involved an election challenge on a city ordinance change to allow MJ dispenaries in the town.
The Judge broke with 30 years of precedent, ignored Dominions petition to not allow the machines to be examined because it would reveal “proprietary info” and ordered the machines examined, thereby permanently unblocking that road block.
Its BECAUSE of that decision, that KL’s legal team was able to examine the ‘slogs’ from the Maracopa County machines, its because if that decision that we now know HOW the Dominion algorythm works, and its because of that decision and that knowledge, that they can’t USE the dominion algorythms any more. So, HUGE.
WE are getting really goid rulings from the Judge in the Missouri case, brought by TGP and joined by State A.G. ‘s from Missouri and Louisianna.
Last session SCOTUS slapped down EPA, and this session ended Rowe and Affirmative action, ehile affirming religious liberty,..pretty darn good if you ask me.
I actually agree with SCOTUS ruling on the Election case Paxton brought, we really don’t want States contesting each others election results, that leads to chaos or a Federal takeover of elections.

This reminds me of the show Night Court rushing through the case files.
Anyone here is free to disagree with me, but I continue to believe that the actions by this officer and his associates was entirely unjustifiable. He crossed the line.
If the man is down on the ground and in cuffs, you can simply stand back and let him flop around on the ground until the police van gets here. Then, pick him up and throw him bodily in the back. If he dies of a drug overdose on the way to the station, that’s no concern of yours.
Whether or not his actions physically contributed to the man’s subsequent demise, IMHO they can never be justified. He crossed the line. He did, for many minutes, what was not physically necessary to restrain the already-restrained suspect. Indeed, he applied a “hand-to-hand combat” maneuver capable of causing death. And his fellow officers didn’t intervene.
Second-degree murder (what he is charged with)
An intentional killing that was not premeditated.
His actions certainly weren’t an “intentional killing.”

The killing of a person without malice aforethought but with either the intention to commit an unlawful act that leads to an unintended death, or with an otherwise murderous intent that is extenuated by some partial defense, such as acting under the influence of an extreme emotional disturbance occasioned by a substantial provocation on the part of the victim.
It wasn’t an “unlawful act” since that technique of subduing is not illegal nor could it ever be proved that there was “murderous intent.”
So, whatever fits death through negligence is more appropriate and that is:
Involuntary manslaughter
An unintentional killing that results either from recklessness or criminal negligence.
So, 2nd degree murder is an absolutely insane sentence.
My point only has to do with the setting during the jury’s deliberations. Not rehash whether the officer was guilty or not.
IMO, the jury was influenced by outside pressure that was designed to influence them.
Our Supreme Ct should hear this case as it falls squarely in their domain. Then again, the MN Supreme Court should have heard it as well…
That is why the other officers did nothing. It’s because this hold was allowed by MPD if the perp is actively resisting, which he was. Once Floyd stopped moving the officers should have changed their response. That is not murder but it is surely wrong.
I watched much of the trial and I have to say there was absolutely reasonable doubt. I don’t believe that anyone that is not on fentanyl would have died from the police action.

When you are a violent felon released on parole and overdose on Fentanyl and meth which means you go back to prison. Then you fight the police kicking and screaming in the police car because you don’t want to go back to prison so much that the Officers have to take you out of the police car and call the EMTs. Then the EMTs get lose and meanwhile you fight again so the officers have to restrain you…it’s your fault if you die!

I agree. When a person in custody says he can’t breath and you can see he is in distress yet you continue to keep a knee on his throat, obstructing his breathing, and then he dies, yes, 2nd degree murder.

Cited as “justification” was that the jabs allegedly saved “millions” (three million was thrown around) of lives in the United States. There is no evidence for this. Further, there is evidence that both Pfizer and Moderna tried to keep their trial information secret for 75 years. Why would you do that if the raw data supported your claims? May I remind you that nobody ever tries to suppress good news for obvious reasons — it is only when there is bad news either on the surface or buried in what would otherwise become public that people try to suppress it.

Your job has been terminated. The Congress can start these departments anew next year, after the election. People can reapply for their jobs.
Congress created the FBI & DOJ. It is time to deconstruct them, and then Build Back Better. The House and the House alone can accomplish this. If the appropriation does not exist, then the FBI & DOJ do not exist.
The FBI & DOJ launched a coup starting with the Russia Pee Pee Hoax, then Mueller, then Ukraine, and now the archive documents. All the while they knew Trump was innocent, and Biden and Hillary were guilty. They literally overthrew the United States. Not only did they overthrow the President, they overthrew Congress in 2018, 2020, and 2022. The composition of Congress would be far different if these knowingly false stories had not been dominating the news. The FBI & the DOJ overthrew the United States, and installed a known international criminal that was beholden to foreign powers. Not only are they not stopping this behavior, they are greatly escalating it by filing absurd paper shuffling charges against the leading Republican candidate. This is not hyperbole. These are facts, and there must be extremely severe consequences. Now is not the time for Congress to go wobbly. Congress has a Responsibility to Protect the American people, and defend the Constitution.

By the time this actually goes to trial, if it ever does, it will be well after the election. That J6 trial may never take off the ground.
I’m just waiting for Trump to play his “trump card.” Namely, that it is already settled law that the President is The Executive Branch.™ He is not simply “an individual.” His powers and prerogatives are defined by the Constitution itself, and are separated from the other two Branches.
He has plenary power regarding all sensitive materials. And, while carrying out his Constitutional duty to “take care that the laws are faithfully executed,” he can say anything he wants to anyone he wants. Particularly when he has abundant reason to suspect that the laws were not being “faithfully executed” in one or more States.
On a more basic level, he cannot be “indicted for a crime involving some felony conspiracy” when the prosecuting attorney apparently has not yet invented what that “conspiracy” was actually supposed to be. It is meaningless for a Grand Jury to return an indictment without this fundamental information. Obviously, he still has not been told about “the nature and cause of the charges against him.”
“Lawfare” is frankly becoming more and more absurd in their attacks. Eventually, Trump must appeal directly to the Supreme Court, this being his “court of primary jurisdiction,” and insist that the Court re-affirm what it has already several times decided. Namely, that Presidency has its privileges.
No President could exercise his Office if he is faced with the prospect of being put in prison for a thousand years immediately after his term ends, just because someone didn’t agree with him.
he has already said exactly that. a “trump card” would require a functioning republic that exercises some justice, logic, or legal precedent.
