It’s been a while since we had a genuine Treehouse challenge. So, today I stumbled upon an excellent opportunity for each Treeper to test their mental stamina, and the contest has benefits.
Yesterday Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was asked on Fox News, essentially, why he could not relate to people [video segment below fold]. Ron responded by saying, essentially, ‘hey, who cares, did you see how much money we’re raising‘. People immediately started being snarky and discussing it. However, the real answer can be found in this Treehouse challenge below.

Here was Ron DeSantis being asked why he cannot relate to people.

I quit at the same time that the guy got up and walked out.
I considered that myself, but I stayed for even more punishment.

I am so glad she ws doing this interview and saying these things, because none of the rest of us have had the experiences she is talking about/sarc.
It was like reading a womens mag (which I dont do) nauseating.
I would like to think she’s just proud of children. But she just comes off as narcissistic “I’m the only woman who is raising three children under the age of five.”
The first governor who had a child born while in office in 50 years…gag
Yeah, my mom did too… three growing boys on a shoestring. I don’t know how she did it. Not the kind of money you have Mrs. Gov. We had a big garden we all worked in, a small orchard, and hunted and fished.
I didn’t watch the video at all. Zero seconds.
That’s about how long I lasted. I really wanted to win but I couldn’t take it anymore. To me she was fully caffeinated and talking way too fast. I didn’t know where she was going with her staccato speech about her children and didn’t want to stay to find out.
5:52 on the wife. I felt like I was having an out of body experience listening to her. Meatball? As soon as he opened his mouth to talk about money. I can’t handle the twitching and blinking on top of his ego.
I made it to the part where the entitled kid wears her princess stuff to bed.

In the beginning, she says “like” about 100 times. And how can she talk so long without taking a breath?
The Iowa governor has the most annoying, nasally voice I have ever heard.
And to prove I put myself through such torture, here are some points she touched on:
Mamas for DeSantis; Curriculum Transparency; she channels Margaret Thatcher when she has to deal with negative press; she talks about her cancer; Hurricane Ian and a Bridge to Pine Island; talks about securing the border; Hope Florida program; mentorship programs; the role of government; she brags up the Iowa governor’s accomplishments and the two of them have a little kiss-fest with each other; school choice; and then she ends with Mamas for DeSantis, encouraging everyone to get involved.

I couldn’t have done it, the governor’s tone lead in to Casey’s monotonal, finger nails on a chalk board voice. What I heard sounded like a speech someone wrote for her.

Just finished a 2500 mile, 6 day, scenic, family vacation, road trip ( Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse monuments, Custer Park SD, natural wonders gallore, etc. : )

I know a family who just got back from Mt. Rushmore.
There must be thousands of families each day taking a look ( late June, early July ).
[ but not many in January…brrr… and less traversible park roadways in winters]

[ that Mt. Rushmore area sure draws in a lot of visitors. Wow! And it was great to see, again – after decades since seeing it as a child. The Custer State Park, the Cathedral spire metamorphic rock formations, the badlands sedimentary rock formations, the vastness of this great land, the views changing as traveling / stopping… Wow! Scenic ]

On my bucket list
Try to keep the fuel tank topped off when roadway traveling near parks
because in the most scenic, vast black hills national park lands etc there are few stations. Some tunnels have narrow width, low clearance. ( not for rv’s) – and very interesting.
Be prepared for long, long, curvey, scenic travels ( and adventure hikes ) with water etc too. There are also untold precious moment rewards along the vast horizons… ( 2d photos are insufficient, and so is the brain memory capacity to fully store what is there )…

I live in Florida and I admit the minute I saw her picture on the clip I knew that no “prize for this challenge” was worth it.
Visions of my homeowners insurance and vehicle insurance increases danced in my head.
At mid June, I checked out an alternate insurance company with hopes of a lower cost – but did not see a significant difference.
The insurance ( and reinsurance) prices have risen, no doubt… ouch… ( and they may not be done, rising…
with the risky etc. current govt policies etc…)
So last night I thought the challenge was for ‘The Governor’ on Fox… I made it until he said “he has done more for the country than anyone” and Xd out chucking.
Then this morning I realized it’s a challenge on Mrs. Desantimonious.
I made it to the 8:59 mark.
I’ll say this… about 5 of those 8 minutes all I could think about is is this woman on drugs.
“he has done more for the country than anyone” + “in the last five years”
I added the ending which I balked at too. My head calculations said, “Hmmm, President Trump was still in 0ffice during this period. You did more than him. I hardly think so. FAKE NEWS!”
I made it 6 minutes. As fake as you can get. I see a lot of women talking this way. I can’t describe the style but it’s not the valley girl talk, something different but just as phony.
They install their faux persona before these interviews.

I couldn’t watch meatball. I listened to the commentator prattle on about how he likes meatball but some people, etc. I watched meatball the entire time and he was uncomfortable, waiting for the question, twitching back and shoulders, frozen facial expression….I don’t like him. Nothing he can say to make me like him.
Bottom line – less than a minute for Meatball and Meatballess

Okay…I admit…I lose. I couldn’t stomach her talk of nothingness, or his talk of establishment money. 30 seconds each if that. I don’t mind admitting I lost, cant stand listening to either one of them!
About 2 minutes into and I remembered my gutters need cleaned out.
~45 seconds, and that was about 30 seconds after extreme irritation had already set in.
Made it almost to the 3 minute mark. Proud of myself.
38 seconds and I was my morning drinking coffee (not sure that was cheating or not?)
She talks in fast and in circles just like her husbands head does when he speaks. I get whiplash watching Ron speak.
It would be funny and interesting to be a fly on the wall at the dinner table with them.

Question is…does she talk fast because Ron’s head does fast circles of disinterest and disconnect or did Ron pick up the head circling because she drives him crazy with the fast talk because he is disinterested disconnected and has a lack of respect for her?
I was thinking fly on the wall in their bedroom. My flynamation would need to be outfitted w/o laughing box.
