One of my nephews came to visit from out of state yesterday and brought two of his teenage boys along.
The idea of conspiracy theories came up and I learned that, apparently, kids that age are being brainwashed into believing that everything is a conspiracy theory, so nothing is a conspiracy theory.
What is that? Bombard someone with thoughts and words about conspiracy theories to a point where they think it is all a joke?
They mentioned the “Birds Aren’t Real” conspiracy theory, something I’d never heard of until yesterday.
After they left I looked up ‘birds aren’t real’ and found a young man who started that conspiracy theory for “fun” and on purpose. He wanted to show everyone how silly conspiracy theories were, and it seemed personal to him since he had heard a lot of them growing up in a “hyper-conservative, fundamentalist community” in small town Arkansas.
Yeah, so if you don’t have to time to find out whether a conspiracy “theory” is true or a made-up-lie then, apparently, everything is a lie and you can make-up whatever you want in order to solidify the thought that conspiracy theories are all equally insane.
If you watch the great movie “Conspiracy Theory” with Mel Gibson, he spouts the real with the absurd to smear them all. That’s what you are describing. Look up the definition of conspiracy.

The Halderman Report was completed in mid 2021. The judge had the report sealed until recently and the GA Secretary Of State, Raffensperger, knew the results in 2021. He allowed the machines to be used in the 2022 election in which he was running for re-election. He, of course, won.

My comment on the California delegate issue. Basically, the RNC, is just doing ranked choice voting. Trump gets most votes and delegates of entire thing, but RNC hopes maybe not 50% +1. Then all those with smaller delegate counts all back one candidate/pledge their delegates to one person. Of course, i doubt Trump will have less than 55 maybe 60% of delegates. But RNC wants it close enough for some sort of battle. And “we must come together for the good of the party.” Or RNC forces their chosen 2nd place finisher onto Trump as VP……he won’t be allowed to pick Kari Lake, NC Lt Governor, etc.
Second, my thoughts on 3rd party. I would think 2024 is the last chance for the “GOP”. If Trump is not nominee, GOP will lose 60/40 and basically destroyed. If he is the nominee, but they sit on their thumbs and do nothing such that he loses 50.8-49.2 (sorry, we just had a bad candidate), then I think the party is also destroyed.

the way i read it, its not ranked choice. it just makes it harder to get the count overall when half of the largest states votes (and lets be honest, probably a lot of squish GOP) go to anything BUT his count. whereas he might have gotten 1000, he might only get 500, and has to win the rest elsewhere

I have spent my entire life as a registered Independent, would never vote for a lefty at this point, despise the RNC, but this FINAL battle is about far more than this private political party.
I will always believe that the best chance to salvage MAGA and a party change was in 2020 right after the obviously stolen election, imo. The time was ripe, 75 million Trump voters plus more, were engaged and would have followed and the money was available from them to do it.
Now, if 2024 is a loss for repubs (and with the election systems we have still in place it’s lucky if it’s a 50/50 chance for republicans) to win back the Presidency, the new party idea will be ten times harder because there will be many confused, unhappy voters who will be very skeptical about a new party being valid or effective anymore. If things like ranked choice voting, or the scheme in Ca currently being pushed, extend to more states, it will be nearly impossible to win against the Dems.
I think we are facing a very dicey election process going forward and it’s doubtful a new party will be foremost in most people’s minds as a viable solution because the base will be fractured and damaged so much there won’t be enough people to support a new party. In fact, more people just might leave the Republican Party and become independents or unaffiliated at that point. GOPe just might be a shell of itself too.
I agree. 2020 was the moment. Now lost, never to reoccur. A lot of education and enlightenment could have occurred in the past 2.5 years with the rollout of a new party.

While the actual theft “per-person” is small stealing a penny is still stealing; we are merely arguing over the magnitude, not the act, and in aggregate without it there is no value there in the model at all.

It is a laugh to listen to all the “pundits here” state “President Trump had/has no idea how to pick his immediate staff to support his tenure in the White House” …. as if he actually had/has any choice.
The President of the US is at the mercy of the Senate, per the US Constitution. Without the cooperation of the Senate, in making selections for the actual leadership position appointments within the Executive Branch, President Trump is stuck operating in a “best of the worst” environment.
The President’s immediate staff has little if any authority, other than that the President is legally authorized to delegate. Even in selecting immediate staff, the President has to compromise to gain even the minimum of support from his “Republican Allies” in congress.
The only exception being the use (rotation) of the very few “trusted, multi-talented” folks who have previous Senate approval for use as 210 day temps in key executive positions to help President Trump actually make any progress governing (exercising his Constitutional Authority). Until a reasonable honest, supportive Senate is seated, it is always going to come down either Governing vs Cleaning the Swamp … 2016-2020 and 2024-2028 it is going to have to be “Governing”, while trying to change the composition of the Senate and House.
It’s so easy to sit back and snipe from the cheap seats as many do on this topic, without looking at the entire situation.

People are requesting ballots to clearly undeliverable addresses and they are requesting mail in ballots in huge volumes at odd parts of the year.
In Florida’s case, 95% of the total number of mail in ballot requests for the 2022 General were made more than 90 days prior to the election.
It seems so unnatural that many of the mail ballots would be requested so far before the elections. Most people procrastinate and wait to the last minute.
You would think mail ballot requests would ramp up towards the election…not the opposite. They ramp down from a HUGE volume of mail in ballots being mailed out as soon as they are allowed to be legally mailed out in Florida.
