Retired Magistrate here: Yep, it is time to buck up. By GOD’s grace, I have lived through the Korean War, Atomic Bomb drills, Viet Nam War, Jimmy Carter’s “wonder years” (it’s a wonder we survived, but we did), economic downturns, Gulf War, both parents dying, death threats, health crises, etc. This is not the first time we have gone through bad times. At least this time, there is enough information out there that people can really find out what is going on and do what they can to fix it.
My parents lived through the Great Depression and World War II and passed on a lot of their survival techniques to me: mainly, make do with what you have or do without. Use coupons, don’t replace it, fix it, buy used, etc.
It took us 100 years to get in this mess and to think it will be fixed overnight is wishful thinking. If you have children or grandchildren teach moral values: there is an ultimate truth; there is right and wrong and yes you can still make something out of yourself. Forget college, trade schools are an excellent option. Around here (central Ohio) companies are begging for good tradespeople and will even train new hires how to plumb, run electrical wire, etc.
We are in a war for the heart and soul of this country; now is not the time to give up.
