Boogy is the same guy that says you turn left to turn right on a motorcycle. I have raced everything with a motor. Cars, souped up trucks, I have several bikes – crotch rockets and my personal favorites a ’78 KZ1000 and ’08 VStar 1300 with shaved heads/high compression rings/high pressure pump with larger injectors and a custom tune. Also raced boats, 4 wheelers, 3 wheelers. Etc. I’ve done drags, baja style races, circuit races, and have never, except when drifting, turned the opposite way of my heading. So take what he says with several heaping spoonfuls of salt.

Maybe I can refresh your selective memory. I said that after a certain low speed (10 – 12 mph ?) if you turn the motorcycle handlebars to the left, the bike will turn right. Anyone here with a motorcycle or bicycle can simply get on one now and see for themselves.
Wheeling a bike around in your garage or driveway, the bike will go the direction of the handlebars. At 30 mph, for instance, your bike will 100% go to the right if you turn the handlebars to the left.
Just in case there is a lost in translation here. To me you push the left and pull the right to turn right. To me, pushing on the left does not equal turning left to go right. You are still physically making the wheel point to the right. So to me that is turning right to go right. I’m willing to see if this is just a lost in translation thing.
However if not, I have no clue what to say. If you point your wheel left when you need to go right you’re asking for trouble.
If you don’t agree at a minimum that you push the left and pull the right (especially at high speeds) to turn right then I could care less what any of your links say.
Telling an otherwise ignorant person, such as a new rider, to turn left to go right is just irresponsible
The only other thing I can think is for an abrupt turn on a motorcycle where you temporarily do the opposite of what I said to make the bike lean and take the corner. But if you keep pulling and pushing with the wrong sides you will absolutely wreck. It is a temporary maneuver at high speeds to make the bike turn. However at 30 mph, or whatever, if I’m just on a lazy ride I’m not turning left to go right. I’m turning right at whatever the posted speed is so that I can go right.
No one ever has to be told this. It’s instinctive. I had been riding at least 10 years when I saw this idea in print. I could not believe it and I went out for a short ride to test it.

You only counter steer temporarily for a split second to change the momentum of the rear tire allowing for a quick maneuver to the opposite side but then continue with normal steering. It’s so instinctual that I suspect many don’t realize they are doing it.
Just a tiny push on the side you wish to go puts the bike into a lean and off you go.
I had been riding bicycles since probably 5 – 6 years of age and motorcycles since my early 20s. When I read about counter steering I thought there was something missing in the translation. I took a ride on my then current bike and was stunned to see it was 100% true. This topic should be on the open thread. Frankly, have often found myself in direct disagreement with boogystew.

I am finding EVERY conversatiin I have with friends, neighbors and strangers, quickly devolves to the current “sorry” state of affairs, a brief recitation of the more obviously INSANE, nonsensical aspects, and then (unbidden) statements by them of how this is clearly a Spiritual battle (PRAISE the Lord!).
Hence, while I have no “problem” with your posts, I really think we have reached the point where only Satans minions or those captured by his deceptions are denying the obvious spiritual God Vs Satan reality we are experiencing, and I think the latter (those decieved but not yet “lost” are seeing this reality.

I was recently told that there are schools in VA where students are being allowed to urinate ad defecate on the floors because they say they are animals and can’t use the toilet. The other students have to step over poop, etc.
This is beyond insane – how anybody keeps sending their kids to these hell holes I don’t know.
A lot of this started when the preschools and daycare centers were allowed to stay open but parents weren’t allowed to enter the school.
