I think letting anyone buy a car and drive it anywhere they want is not a good idea. And yes, obviously, I know the usual arguments used to respond to that…but open carry is not a bad idea in and of itself. The open carry option is not the problem.
Restricting the actions and options of law-abiding people is NEVER the solution. It’s a cliché-but-true phrase: When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns…the principle is the same. I don’t totally understand why the law-abiding are so often accused of being the problem, when the lawbreakers are so often treated with kid gloves.
When I enter the Walmart in my middle-sized town in Oregon I see the courteously worded sign at the entrance requesting that customers not open carry. It’s a request, because they can’t demand it. And that is as it should be.

Every article I’ve seen on Tucker’s firing, on WSJ, NY Times, Reddit, and elsewhere, has commenters pushing the same message: Tucker’s lies about Dominion caused Fox to be sued and pay the massive settlement, so Fox had to fire him. It’s pretty clear Fox is trying to rehabilitate its reputation with the masses by smearing Tucker. That message started being pushed within minutes of the announcement that he was leaving Fox, so it was clearly ready to go and bots at the ready to push it. The propaganda machine in this country is as powerful as it is anywhere. China and North Korea probably get pointers from it. The sad thing is regular people believe it. A friend who is on our side but not tuned in to the specifics of what’s going on texted me yesterday afternoon that Tucker got fired because of what he said about Dominion leading to the lawsuit. She felt foolish when I pointed out that she had fallen for propaganda, and said everyone on social media was repeating that message.

News yesterday and questions about what next- regarding Susan Rice now leaving the White House – but this news tidbit was not as big as the news about Tucker and Fox – it was just “there” in the stream – like the WSJ ad for their “Future of Everything Festival”.
I recall Rupert Murdoch flitting around when he was having a special and all-important conference about doing business in China – I believe Henry Kissinger was going to be in attendance – this was the Monday after Easter Sunday in 2000.
That Easter Sunday in 2000 was the day that Elian was whisked away into a van from the house in Miami – by gunmen in ski masks -there was coverage about that at first and then gradually petering out. By the next day, Monday, Fox News was the only national news company that had any reporters on the scene in Miami talking to the family and neighbors in that Cuban American community but they got ready to shut it all down and did so as Rupert’s confab was going to start.
Will Rupert Murdoch be at this “Future of Everything Festival” and will he introduce Mrs. Obama to the audience – or, if not, who will? Does her photo in the WSJ signify that Mrs. Obama will be the keynote speaker?
Is THAT what Susan Rice is now working on, getting Mrs. Obama ready for the festival and coordinating with Rupert?
At work I had to set a couple of conservatives straight when they were also saying that fox lost a law suit. I told them that fox did not lose because they never fought, they settled out of court and so there was no trial to prove the defamation. Tucker was canned because he was too good at exposing to his massive audience the slide into state control of everything. It’s that simple.
That’s the thing with settling… it always makes you look guilty, even if you’re not. This was a classic “let’s make this go away, shall we?” situation.
That is not what this was. This was a coordinated effort to hurt Trump and the American people. Fox used this opportunity to pay Dominion, there by making Dominion look reliable in the eyes of the sheep. Fox also got to Fire Tucker as a bonus and not make it look like they did it because he was exposing truth. To the contrary they made it look like his “rhetoric” cost them all that money and at the same time propped up Dominon as reliable.
This had NOTHING to do with making the law suit go away. You need to start thinking on a much more macro view when dealing with the enemy. To me, as soon as I saw fox settle, I knew what they were doing. The firing of Tucker after the fact then really brought it all together with ZERO doubt of what they were doing.
If fox had pursued the law suit against Dominion and fought, it would have required Dominion to show proof that they didn’t have equipment that was vulnerable during the 2020 election. Instead, fox capitulated and didn’t make Dominion defend themselves and fired Tucker as the reason. It’s so clear what was done here it is laughable.

He has no concrete evidence to suggest otherwise, although he does include a photo with Lindsey and McStain, mugging it up with,…ISLAMIC (ISIS) leaders.

I taped a few evening FNC shows on repeat and the few minutes total that I watched while FF through the shows was sickening. Hannity’s planted audience cheered loudly at the beginning and when he did not mention Tucker but said DeSantis will be his guest tomorrow I deleted it. Ingraham also ignored the firing but did say that (paraphrased) “It is now up to Ron DeSantis to prove to the voters that he will work for them and not the Big Donors.” So a plan to deceive is in play.
I tried to watch Gutfeld but the past appeal of his humor has totally vanished. I might have missed mentions about Tucker but I doubt it. The wagons are circled.
Unlike others here I thought Fox was still worth watching a few of the shows and people but it took regular FF and other avoidance tactics to parse out the pro DeSantis spin and deception. Not now however.

Fox ‘s settlement with Dominion is very suspicious. It is just another way for Dominion to load up on cash before the 2024 presidential election so they can cheat. Dominion could not afford to go through with that lawsuit. It would have exposed all the corruption.
Dominion would have been ineffective without the cash influence from Rupert Murdoch. But they need Dominion for 2024 or PDJT would win.
We must stop Dominion, Ballot harvesting, and keep the left from cheating in WI., MI., PA., GA., AZ., and NV. STOP this cheating and PDJT will win hands down. We are to spread out by design and not concentrating on priorities.

There are a lot of moving parts in elections. Most importantly is local control, though. That, and a healthy amount of transparency. You should get involved in your local elections….go to the pre-test of the tabulating equipment, go to the post-test, consider working as an election judge. Look up your state’s election laws. This is a heavy lift, but it’s where a fully informed citizen needs to start.
I tried as hard as I could to get the public to attend our public tests; advertising both in the local paper as well as the drive-time radio. Interest in the process definitely increased after 2020; we welcomed visitor observers and explained to them what we did. I always had a bipartisan judge team present, as the law required. All the paperwork and test ballots we ran were essentially impounded after the pretest until the post-test. Those tests HAD to turn out the same. We only used Dominion as tabulators—we did not use any sort of touch-screen equipment. The paper ballots were still considered the permanent, auditable trail and record of the voter’s intent. Those were also, essentially, “impounded” for the required 22 months. Law required us to do a completely random hand-count of at least 5% of our precincts as well as an electronic recount of another one. These tests were always confirmatory.
In my opinion, registration fraud (i.e., non citizens voting) and absentee fraud (voting the ballot of an elderly or disabled person) is commoner and where we need to look. But what do I know?

You probably cannot imagine how awful 2020 was for the local election authority. I felt it important to stick up for common sense and over 100 years’ experience in the western world with infectious disease. I thought masks were useless, as did several of my best employees and I wasn’t going to force anyone to mask up. (Since I’m a retired M.D. I pulled it off, I guess.) The emeritus professors in our university town were the worst; their lives came above everyone else’s, and if there wasn’t a mask on everyone when they came to bestow their precious vote on us…well, I snapped that one time and let that jerk really have it, and carboned the county commission. What a pompous tyrant he was.
Fully 1/4 of my states local election authorities left at the end of 2022 and didn’t run again; 2020 took a horrible toll.

So, tell us how we are to accomplish what you point out in little over a year? If the repubs/ conservative MAGA do not organize teams on the ground across the country and do some of what the Dems are so adept at doing, we are toast. It’s the only way to get some traction against the tactics being used against us. The courts won’t help anyone. The RNC is a lost rino cause. Election laws in most states will not be changed. The Machines are still prevalent and to be used in most states too for 2024.

Tucker does not need Fox – or even television, for that matter. There is no television in my house, and there hasn’t been one for thirty years. I don’t miss it because I have no use for it. This looks to me to be nothing more or less than a relatively-simple “who’s buttering the bread” problem at Fox. They, like every other media company is facing a monstrous set of issues with no clean answers. Digital is the answer except no it really isn’t because, well, unlike the networks of old you can’t stop someone from setting another one up; there is no FCC and a limited number of channels to be allocated in a given area.
Blackrock just increased its stake in Fox too; publicly-traded media companies are just as subject to the sort of crap as anyone else in the public firm space, and companies like Blackrock, State Street and Vanguard wield their voting proxies as a cudgel. This ought to be barred because those firms do not, in fact, speak for the actual shareholders. Blackrock is the custodian of the shares in an ETF but their fiduciary responsibility is to the holders of the ETF, not Blackrock’s management. As such what is being done in and through these firms should have led to the imprisonment of their entire board of directors years ago but, of course, we no longer live in a world where the rule of law matters and fiduciary is a word that has no meaning in the real sense.
