Looks like it took them 79 years to finally catch on to the fact that they were partners in an abusive relationship. There is zero justification for this “special status,” and there never was.
If (say …) India wants to sell things to (say …) Brazil, there is absolutely no reason for “the USA” to be in any way involved in the transaction. And, going forward, it won’t be. Suck it up, buttercup!

The question is whether the empire manages that transition to their people’s benefit, or it lashes out indiscriminately at the world AND its own people – in which case you can expect a spectacular and violent end.

I very respectfully disagree. At what point in time did the world community suddenly decide that there properly ought to be – and somehow quite necessarily “must be” –“the(!)” currency? Why, exactly, should “one nation” enjoy a magically superior “status” among more than two hundred others?

No one now is “destroying” a “currency” that is already dead. In fact, “a concept” that is already dead.
“Bretton Woods” was a very long time ago, and in a far different time. The “America” that existed at that time, eighty years ago, by said nation’s own choices, no longer exists. And you cannot now just “snap your fingers” and bring it back. Decisions have consequences.
That was a position negotiated by countless agreements and negotiations. At one time, the US represented stability and security in currency.
The pains of being removed from that status is much larger than you probably imagine. For starters, the cost of labor over seas will go WAY way up… What’s likely to happen is a combination of some things coming back to the US and some US companies moving out of the country and selling things to us from “over there.”

Once humanity collectively decided to stop living athe hunter gatherer lifestyle, and to instead livr permanently in one place, that decision inherently dictated all sorts of decisions, including the necesity for some form of currency, the introduction of a lot more competition, the aquiring of more and more possesions, the need for governments and buerocracies, the stratification of society in disparate groups with opposing interests, and more can all be traced back to this initial decisions, probably dictated by the development of agriculture.

The decrease in birth rates has been going on for 50 years or more. Birth rates are now well below the population replacement measure of 2.1 children per family. Birth rates were almost 3.0 per family during the baby boom. They were only 2.4 per family during the 1980s. The rates are now 1.8 per family and we are on schedule to lose half of our population over the next 50 years.
The Covid19 vaccines may be responsible for about a loss of 0.1 since 2021, which is significant when you consider that, over our entire history, birth rates have always produced population increases. But it is very much unclear how much of the 0.1 is the vaccines and how much is the 50 year trend. I don’t think we will ever know how much until there is no more negative affects on the birthrates of families after the vaccines are discontinued. But, declining birth rates worldwide will shrink populations all over the world except for sub-Saharan Africa and scattered places of abject poverty elsewhere.
I believe world birth rates will recover once Communism is finally eradicated from the earth. That could take Centuries, the way things are going now.

Growing up in the same era, at 17 I saw the hypocrisy of these folks. Their focus was to not conform to the established norms, BUT you had better conform to their dress, hair, music, drugs, sex etc. or you were ostracized and ridiculed.
Their movement destroyed long held moral values, religious values and family values. Hubby is much like you. He bought in and he immersed himself in the music, concerts and most everything else. He is now a conservative.
I want to express my appreciation for my southern brothers. They have held closer to our roots than any other group. I admire their core values and courage to express them. They are under heavy attack right now. Stay with God.

Met a ‘nice’ guy several years ago, and we started talking about hikes that we enjoyed. Since several of my favorite hikes go through griz country, I casually stated that I carry a large caliber pistol for protection. This guy went from nice to monster in a second. I have noticed the same level of irrational anger in many of my Leftist leaning friends (and in a few of my staunchly Conservative ones as well, TBH).
I think some people just tend to get very defensive when they know that they are wrong or that they don’t know what they are talking about. And considering how colossally wrong almost every Leftist policy proposal has been for the past 60 years they have a lot of reasons to feel defensive!
It can be fun to toy with a Trotsky, but inside of my cautionary tale just be aware these people are unstable and getting worse by the day. Life is crazy farout on the left & right wings that’s where the swamp tries to keep us, divide & conquer.

My sister is one of these crazy leftists. She had always vowed to never get married. Then she ended up getting engaged. The guy was a total loser leftist also that sponged off her. So me and my brother had dinner with her one night at my brothers house. We simply asked if she was sure she wanted to marry this guy. We didn’t throw any insults or anything , just politely asked her the question. I mean we are her brothers so we wanted to make sure she was ok with her decision.
She went absolutely bat S crazy. Just like the woman in that picture posted above. She screamed and cursed us out and then tried to run out of the house. So I tried to stop her and she got violent and swung at me and then slammed the front door like four times on her way out. She later contacted us and said we weren’t allowed to go to her wedding unless we agreed to go with her to he shrinks office for one of her appointments (yea and we are the crazy ones). So we both agreed.
We drove down a couple hours to where she lived. Met with the shrink. The shrink asked us questions and we answered completely honestly and with out emotion.
This was hilarious. So after me and my brother had both spoken and said our parts, my sister looks at the shrink and says “you see what I’m dealing with here?!?!.” The shrink looks at my sister and says “Louise, your brothers seem like two exceptionally well rounded people that were simply making sure you were making a decision you were comfortable with. They both don’t appear to have any ill will towards you and just want you to be happy.” My sister literally says “Oh, ok. Thank you doctor.”
So we leave the appointment and she thanks us for coming with her and says it’s ok for us to come to the wedding. This was one of the most mind boggling moments of my life. And that was the day I knew for certain that liberalism was definitely a mental disorder. Just like that she was willing to accept this strangers advice and say oops my bad. HOLY S–T. My mind was blown.
So years later she ends up divorcing the guy for being a loser. She then moves to China after PDJT won the election because she refused to live under a dictator. After the election was stolen from PDJT in 2020 I cut her out of my life permanently. I don’t want any part of that kind of crazy in my life. And I don’t ever want her around my children. Don’t want her spreading her psycho babel crap around me or my family.
So yea, StanH, I know the exact type of person you are dealing with that you described above.

My “Barry Goldwater” dad taught me early on how to debate ideas. He was an intelligent man who knew that knowledge requires an open, inquisitive mind.
My mom, on the other hand, tended to sulk and withdraw from the conversation when she couldn’t defend her own opinions. She didn’t stick around to (possibly) learn something new or to change someone else’s mind.
The exercise of debating the issues of the day around the dinner table taught me a LOT about human nature.
People tend to become angry and argumentative when they can’t back up their opinions. This always takes me by surprise, as I don’t take the discussions personally.
I rather enjoy LEARNING beyond my own limited experiences. And I can certainly withstand the testing of my own convictions without bolting to a safe space.
Your parents sound remarkably like mine! My dad spent his whole life seeking to learn new things and to be interested in the lives of everyone he met…my mother was a very insecure woman who would make pronouncements about things that she clearly didn’t understand and would then get offended when someone would try to correct her.
When my dad died suddenly, I learned that he had been covering for her for years and that she actually had some serious processing issues (possibly from childhood trauma). It was eye opening to realize that a lot of the outbursts that I had learned to avoid were rooted in deep fear and insecurity about her inability to understand complex things. I wish that he had shared some of that earlier as I just grew up thinking she was self centered and critical, which was how it came across to me and my brother.
I wonder sometimes even now how much of the irrational anger that my Leftist friends display is really just their way of dealing with the knowledge that they were wrong about so many things and they are just embarrassed!

I have some lefty friends that work in the political space. They are actually able to keep their emotions in check. But they still have the flawed logic. These are the leftists that have the disease, but they don’t lose their cool.
I’ve told this scenario on here multiple times. I have had many conversations with these type of leftists. We are having a discussion about a political or social issue. I bit by bit, lay out my position. Like feeding a scared squirrel with peanuts one by one. So I do this with these friends. And they are sitting there nodding their heads in full agreement, then I get to my conclusion, that is irrefutable and that they have just agreed with the entire time. And once I drop the conclusion on them, they ALWAYS say, “Well I just don’t see it that way.” And I’m always responding with “but you just agreed with everything up until the conclusion. There is no agreeing or disagreeing at this point. It is what it is, and you agreed with me. So therefore my conclusion is right and you agree. “No, no no, I don’t agree.” And then I’ll ask what they don’t agree with, and they say “just the whole thing, I just don’t agree.”
It is BEYOND frustrating. There is no getting through to these people. Even the less emotional ones. They are never wrong, even when they are blatantly WRONG.

An old friend visited yesterday for a long delayed catch up. We generally don’t discuss politics because I know she is a leftist, although previously I never saw her as a radical.
Somehow it came up that a lady on a Zoom Bible study wanted to add prayers that the legislature would prevent Conceal Carry wearers in church.
When I explained that the church with which we are both acquainted is fairly notorious, historically quite wealthy, and located in/right next to a high crime area; that there were ALREADY CC people attending, and that to exclude them would render the entire congregation as a group of helpless sitting ducks, her response?
“I think I’d rather die.”
Her natural aversion to those awful guns has been stoked to such a degree that she would rather die – apparently along with the rest of the congregation – than allow in the proverbial “good guy with a gun.”

In general, effective brainwashing, something that’s been going on for decades, longer than I’ve been alive.
Some of us who for some reason developed a skepticism and/or questioning of authority, we may have seen the signs earlier but, overall, effective use of the basic human need to be part of social groups and ‘fit in’ combined with scientific methods of behavior modification developed over long periods of time.
Unfortunately, though, skeptics usually don’t ‘fit in’ very well so are socially shunned and, at worst, targeted, so the brainwashing mission is by and large quite effective.
We saw this markedly during the Covid operation. Impressive.
Fool me once. That was based on a blind trust or perhaps the need to believe though naive in the decency of our fellow man…just kidding.

I think most hard working conservatives feel the way you do. They can pretty much do what they want just leave us alone and don’t try to drive their craziness down our throats. But tens of millions freaked out when they heard media buzz-terms like “novel virus” and “spiking Covid cases and deaths;” as if every virus were not, to some extent, novel and as if the medical establishment and government could be trusted to generate and cite accurate statistics. No matter how outlandish some statistics seem, many people consider these stats true simply because they’re expressed in numbers.
In March, 2020, many news reports and public health experts fanned the flames of Coronamania by comparing SARS-CoV-2 to the 1918 Spanish flu. Recently, some commentators have reexamined the Spanish flu narrative. They say that 1918 death tolls were greatly exaggerated and that most deaths attributed to the flu were really caused by medical errors, especially the prescription of high doses of aspirin, then a new drug. Similarly, a century later, both the overstatement of “cases” and of deaths caused by iatrogenic medical interventions drove the Covid scare.
But people needed little encouragement to panic in 2020. They liked imagining that they were part of some grand historical crisis. Living through something called “The Pandemic” conferred excitement and purpose. The label also nullified reason.

Oakland landlord stands to lose everything after tenant fails to pay rent for 3 years
Oakland is one of the last cities in the Bay Area hanging on to its eviction moratorium, which was introduced during the pandemic to protect tenants from eviction.
Many mom-and-pop landlords claim their tenants are taking advantage of the policy, leaving them at risk of losing their livelihoods.
“I’m back due some rent … $56,000 over the last three years from my tenant,” said John Williams, as he read a sign he plans to bring to Oakland City Hall Tuesday.
Williams currently lives in the top unit of the duplex he’s owned for nearly 20 years. It is his only home. Renting it out was supposed to secure his retirement. But at the end of this month, he’s facing foreclosure.
He said for 10 years, Martina Matin, his tenant in the bottom unit, had paid $1,500 for the 3-bedroom, 1-bath, though the checks always came late or bounced.
But in March 2020, she stopped paying altogether.
“It’s a nightmare,” Williams told KPIX. “It’s an absolute endless nightmare where it’s ridiculous that we’re put in this situation for three years, with no conversation, or any kind of dialogue on how do we recapture our funds, other than we have to go to court to do that, or chase them or lose the money.”
The ordeal has taken a toll on Williams’ health.

Okay probably inadvisable, but I’ll dare venture into this. And yes, I am a woman. The timing of menstruation is not always that regular for all women, not like clockwork, or mark it on a calendar –altho birth control pills can make it more predictable.
What makes it especially confusing in the first weeks of pregancy is something called “implantation bleeding” that occurs when the egg implants in the uterus lining. The timing of implantation bleeding is around the time a woman would ordinarily expect her period to occur.
So it creates confusion –implantation bleeding or regular period arriving? Also spotting can happen especially during the first trimester.
Short of it is yes, it is possible for a woman to not realize she is pregnant at 6 wks.
I have heard of (usually very fat or very young) women who actually were surprised when they gave birth. That’s a long time not to realize you’re pregnant.
I’ve heard of that too and wondered about it.
Also female athletes who train hard and anorexic women can have irregular periods or simply stop menstruating.
Looks like there are a lot of circumstances where a woman might not have normal, regular periods and so might not realize she is pregant.
Just did a quick internet search and apparently obese women often present with irregular periods or no periods (amenorrhoea). Thyroid problems can also impact menstruation.
Certainly POSSIBLE.

If these idiots knew anything about geologic history, they might see that the biggest spurts of life happened during periods of higher CO2 concentration.
Carbon sequestration (capturing and storing CO2 underground, such as under a salt dome or other natural occurring caprock) will not “suck all of the carbon out of the atmosphere to kill all plant life on earth”. Not even close. It’s simply designed, typically, to capture CO2 that is being generated by a power plant or other manufacturing plant and keep it contained rather than release it to the atmosphere.
I worked on one of the largest carbon sequestration programs in the world – located in central Canada. When my team learned that the underground “cavern” that was supposed to be holding all this CO2 forever was leaking back to the surface, the Company/Government in charge of the program buried our report and nothing further was discussed.
In short, they were capturing CO2, pumping it underground where it was just leaking back to surface. And they knew it. But, the Canadian government was too high on the PR that no one wanted to face the facts that the whole thing was (and still is) BS.
Somewhat reassuring. Like AI exists simply to help and assist mankind. Honest. It would never be used to censor free speech and spread false information. Never.

I was involved in 2008-10 during the second and final phase. I just read the wiki article (linked above) for the first time and noticed this section:
“Claims of leakingA report[3] of CO2 leaks above the project was released in January 2011[4] by an advocacy group on behalf of owners of land above the project. They reported ponds fizzing with bubbles, dead animals found near those ponds, sounds of explosions which they attributed to gas blowing out holes in the walls of a quarry… The survey also demonstrates that the overlying thick cap rock of anhydrite over the Weyburn reservoir is not an impermeable barrier to the upward movement of light hydrocarbons and CO2 as is generally thought.” said the report.[5]
The PTRC posted an extensive rebuttal of the Petro-Find report… The PTRC acknowledged that they do not monitor the entire site for leaks, rather primarily above the part of the Weyburn field where CO2 is injected and key locations outside it…”
Very interesting! I knew of the outside advocacy group that was making those claims and was part of the investigation that PTRC conducted as a result. My team proved conclusively that the CO2 being pumped in was not entirely captured – it was out belief that there were small leak paths around the periphery of the capture zone. I knew that PTRC had no interest in hearing these findings, but did not know how they spun the answer (hint: they snuck in that “we don’t monitor the entire site…” comment).

I was secretly wondering if the US chicken die-off called bird flu actually had another cause just like that. I can’t bring myself to eat chicken anymore because I didn’t see all the chicken based fastfood places having a shortage in supply. I figured they want the bird flu to jump to humans and are feeding the infected chickens to us. Haven’t seen any legitimate media inquiry either. Chicken has a fast life cycle so less costly experiment.
I used to live near here and my best friend lives very close. It is a beautiful area.
