Reading I
Peter proceeded to speak and said:
“You know what has happened all over Judea,
beginning in Galilee after the baptism
that John preached,
how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth
with the Holy Spirit and power.
He went about doing good
and healing all those oppressed by the devil,
for God was with him.
We are witnesses of all that he did
both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem.
They put him to death by hanging him on a tree.
This man God raised on the third day and granted that he be visible,
not to all the people, but to us,
the witnesses chosen by God in advance,
who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
He commissioned us to preach to the people
and testify that he is the one appointed by God
as judge of the living and the dead.
To him all the prophets bear witness,
that everyone who believes in him
will receive forgiveness of sins through his name.”
R (24) This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.
or:
R Alleluia.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his mercy endures forever.
Let the house of Israel say,
“His mercy endures forever.”
R This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.
or:
R Alleluia.
“The right hand of the LORD has struck with power;
the right hand of the LORD is exalted.
I shall not die, but live,
and declare the works of the LORD.”
R This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.
or:
R Alleluia.
The stone which the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone.
By the LORD has this been done;
it is wonderful in our eyes.
R This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.
or:
R Alleluia.
Brothers and sisters:
Do you not know that a little yeast leavens all the dough?
Clear out the old yeast,
so that you may become a fresh batch of dough,
inasmuch as you are unleavened.
For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed.
Therefore, let us celebrate the feast,
not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness,
but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Alleluia
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Christ, our paschal lamb, has been sacrificed;
let us then feast with joy in the Lord.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel
On the first day of the week,
Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning,
while it was still dark,
and saw the stone removed from the tomb.
So she ran and went to Simon Peter
and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them,
“They have taken the Lord from the tomb,
and we don’t know where they put him.”
So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb.
They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter
and arrived at the tomb first;
he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in.
When Simon Peter arrived after him,
he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there,
and the cloth that had covered his head,
not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place.
Then the other disciple also went in,
the one who had arrived at the tomb first,
and he saw and believed.
For they did not yet understand the Scripture
that he had to rise from the dead.
He is risen indeed!
My father lost his battle with dementia on Easter morning last year, and Easter was forever changed for me. Some people might feel the holiday is forever tarnished after losing a loved one on that day… however, I’m grateful that he passed on the day of Jesus’ resurrection. I see hope and God’s promise of life everlasting in his passing. If anything, Easter became more meaningful to me.
My late wife passed Christmas eve. 2001. Christmas is still magical. The birth of our savior.
My Mom was taken Home on Easter morning when she was 50 (I was 20) after a very long struggle with cancer. It was a beautiful day. I have never to this day seen a procession so long except for my son’s who was taken Home on St. Pat’s Day. At first, such days were tarnished and for some time I hated ALL holidays. But God, in His Mercy, has filled my brokenness with His Love.
PS. 56:8 You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?
Though, at times, I have felt that God must have a really really big bottle in Heaven for my tears, He has shown me that unless that bottle is broken, the fragrance within cannot be released.
I’m sorry for your heartache, yet grateful that you know Him. Blessings!
My dear mother went to her Father on Easter 23 years ago after suffering from cancer. I find it even more fitting that she went that day, remembering Christ’s words, “It is finished.” We have God’s promise that our sins were taken to the cross in our place, so we can meet again and have eternal life as believers.
No more pain, no more suffering and the Lord Himself will dry our tears.
Oh, how He loves us.
Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Php 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
Php 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
Php 2:11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Thank you Jesus for the blood applied,
Thank you Jesus you have washed me white.
Thank you Jesus you have saved my life,
Brought me from the darkness into glorious life🎚🕊🙏🏻
Happy Easter Everyone🌸
Another powerful Easter song that I play every Easter: “Arise My Love” by Newsong. It is the video from 16 years ago on U*toob.*

He is risen indeed! 🙂
The following message appeared on a motel sign in Fergus Falls, MN on Easter Sunday in 2005: Man or God~~His Message was Love
What a patronizing tip-of-the-hat to the resurrected Christ.
Contrast that with what was written in Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis:

Wishing all of you a joyous Easter
God Bless and keep you safe

Happy Easter Treeper family.
He is risen indeed! Let the whole world rejoice.
Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they are the children of God.

Happy Easter All!
Possibly the most beautiful Easter sermon I have ever heard: ‘The “Emptiness” of Easter’ with Pastor David Jeremiah:

Retired Magistrate here: It is a beautiful Resurrection Day here in Delaware County, Ohio. The Daffodils, Forsythia, Magnolias and other Spring flowers and trees are blooming; it is 62 with a soft breeze.
We went to our little country church down the road for the early service. The church bells rang out all along the Scioto River valley with the invitation to come and celebrate the resurrection of our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. Then we all went downstairs to have breakfast provided by the men of the congregation. After that back upstairs for our regular morning worship service and then communion. It was a wonderful morning; old hymns sung, light streaming in through the large windows and a wonderful Easter message of hope and new life in JESUS CHRIST.
I am at peace today, just a wonderful feeling of peace.
