(My note here, My admittedly amateur explanation of what happened) Not sure how it works, but I read they were a victim of rising interest rates. If I understand correctly, they wanted to make some money off of the lots of cash (deposits) they had brought in the last few years. Went from like $50B to $250B+ in just short time. Now for all banks, customer deposits are liabilities not assets. The bank doesn’t “own” customer deposit accounts. So, they used the deposit cash to buy, at the time, investments bringing in 1.5-2%. A bit above the average rate of 0.5 or less (when FED wasn’t raising rates). And those investments SVB did were in probably subprime paper. Remember my question a few days ago about Jerome Powell, and is this standard inflation? Anyway, FED raised rates which made safer investment returns higher than the 1.5-2% the bank was getting. Good return at the time, lousy now. Yes, they would eventually get their 2% back, but they were using customer money. Customers wanted their money to invest in maybe decent paying CDs that now was not there. It took all of 48 hours of a run on the bank to wipe them out. Remember my comment/question a few days ago about Jerome Powell and his work? Yes, the FED does raise interest rates in inflation, but how many other banks are in a similar predicament?

I think someone need to voice the other options. Call me the 10th man, if you like. And you totally mischaracterize what I’m seeking. As I’ve pointed out repeatedly, which obviously you haven’t tried to understand, I’m not looking for an armed confrontation. Quite the opposite, actually.
I’m trying to avoid one through deterence (of the type of armed aggression like that which happened on J6) and by winning the next election the only way it probably can be won … by DEMANDING only what we all know (even many democrats) is a fair election process. There nothing in that demand that anyone can make a good argument against. As for threatening to shut down the country, lots of people on this forum have suggested that. I’m just making the idea a little more concrete and with a specific purpose in mind, rather than vague calls for it.
My opinion, backed up by the fact that very little has actually been done to stop those things that allowed cheating by the democRATS in the last two elections, is that the current approach (depending on the GOP, relying on courts, thinking sunlight will make a difference, believing we can undo the control democRATS have of the election monitoring organizations, thinking our use of the media will change minds, and talking about behaving like democRATS where ballot harvesting is concerned) is unlikely to result in a good outcome. There isn’t even time for those things to do what you hope now. Relying on them as the solution is going to lead to 2024 being a loss for us. A catastrophic loss.
Why catastrophic? Well, what is the other side going to do when they win? They will make sure that we don’t ever get a chance to win another election. They will have crushed the non-UNIPARTY elements of the Republican Party. There will not be another Trump. You think we’re disheartened now? Wait till then.
And the other side will then use the next 4 years (and more) to solidify their hold over the entire government, the police, the military, the internet. They will further control the election process and make it even easier for them to cheat. They will take more of our First and Second Amendment Rights away … and try to take away our guns. And they will work to further intimidate our side into acquiescence.
And then what are you going to do? What option will YOU have left other than … armed rebellion? Hmmmmm?
