The SOLUTION to Education is very very simple.. 1. Eliminate the DOE 2. eliminate all laws having to do with education 3. Its a state and local issue. No need to budget,,, no need to fund at the Federal level.

Something John Kass, the last great Chicago Tribune columnist, said probably 20 years ago, has long stuck with me…
to paraphrase, “I’ve long considered myself lucky to have come up through public schools before teaching became just another public union gig”.

I had the same luck. My public high school in the 60’s required two years of Latin (I just missed a similar requirement for Greek), and no one could graduate without passing an oral test of naming all the presidents.
Averaged about 4 hours of homework every night and a test in every class practically every day.
Even with all that, I believe what we now call “middle” schools had even higher standards a century before…
Homeschool the kiddos until these “educators” get their minds right.
4. Any taxes collected for the purpose of school shall follow the student. If the student enrolls in another district, the entire amount taxed shall follow the student. If the student is taught at home, the entire amount that would typically go to a school district shall be refunded to the parents.
That’s the law passed in AZ., And signed into law, prior to the 2022 election fiasco.
After the fiasco, no doubt Hobbs is ignoring it, although I haven’t heard anything confirming that.
WE should have had vouchers, 30+ years ago, when we first pushed for it.
But, WE relied on RINOS to negotiate FOR us, and they betrayed us, and came out of the negotiation with their Dem comrades, and they came up with “Charter Schools”.
WE had never asked for “Charter Schools” it was a less than 1/2 measure, because THEY lost the debate on VOUCHERS
THEY tried to say it was “rascists” and all of their arguments fell flat, hence their “Charter School” b.s.
I KNOW, I was THERE, involved in the effort for Vouchers,..
And so my kids were home schooled, after having been intentionally born at home, cause I saw the “healthcare system” for what it is, as well.
And that was 30-40 YEARS ago!
I don’t recall when it happened, but school choice was passed in Wisconsin some years ago in which a certain amount of funding followed the student.
This was AFTER the charter schools nonsense that did not fix much.
It was SHOCKING how much the Wisconsin teachers union were charging school districts for their gold-plated health care alone.
My wife and I also homeschooled both of our kids, but our taxes were still given to the district in which we lived.
There were only two choices for online schools in which funding would then go to them, but it had such a long waiting list, we could never get enrolled, so we gave up.
Funding MUST follow the student, including right back home if they are homeschooled.
Have the money follow the child and let parents and the free market improve education.

The only role I see for the Feds is to insure Federal money gets to those school districts disproportionally impacted by the Feds. For example, school districts which serve larger numbers of military dependents than the local tax base supports. I don’t believe we need a Dept. of Ed. to do that: an office within the DoD and another in the Dept. of Energy (I can’t think of any other federal agencies that might generate impact issues in school districts) should be more than capable of insuring federal impact monies augment local tax monies for schools.
I need a President Trump fix.

Taking questions!!! I remember way back in March 2016 when my husband and I went to a rally in Janesville, WI and he took a few questions from the crowd. We were inside a Holiday Inn and the stage set up was “in the round”. A veteran asked him something about benefits – it was a very specific type of question regarding this personal situation and Trump said he’d have one of his people speak with him afterwards and assist with his issue. There was a girl who shouted something about Ukraine and Trump responded but I don’t remember what he said. This was the rally with Miss Wisconsin Melissa Young in attendance. I have so many memories – vivid technicolor memories ❤️
