The COVID-19 stupid continues, as the world’s #1 tennis player is denied entry to the United States over his vaccination status.
(Via Fox News) – Novak Djokovic will not participate in the BNP Paribas Open this month after the Biden administration denied his entry to the United States, due to him being unvaccinated against COVID-19.
Djokovic, 35, requested a vaccine waiver, which would have allowed him to enter the U.S. unvaccinated, but it was rejected by the Homeland Security Department.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion subsequently withdrew from the combined ATP-WTA event, which begins Wednesday at Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California. (read more)

He’s the best player in men’s tennis currently and is close to breaking the record for most Grand Slam Majors won ever so there’s I believe a jealousy component.
Novak also documented contracting COVID in December of 2021 and believes that he has addressed the issue through being less prone to getting it again since he has assumed he has antibodies to it.
Bottom line he’s been punished for making a decision that he should have the right to make.
Last year the Australian Open and US Open did not allow him to compete due to vaccine status.
France and UK allowed Novak in their Majors in 2022 and he won Wimbledon and made it to the semi finals at the French Open.

Funny, not really though. My old fire station is first due to the tennis gardens. There is no vaccine requirement for the fire department, Gavin “fired” (forced out) the CAL Fire (Riverside County Fire contracts with CAL afire to provide fire protection and subsequently most of the cities in the county contract with the county) Director that was slow walking the testing and brought in a yes man. So, the employees that chose not to get the vax test (I haven’t asked if they still need too).
Remember Riverside County Sheriff (RSO) Chad Bianco? Well, he wouldn’t enforce the vax requirement on his deputies. Most of the cities contract with RSO for police protection, including the “cove communities” (Indian swells, Palm Desert and Rancho Mirage), as well as La Quinta the city that borders Indian swells (the location of my old fire station).
So, most of the 1st responders: police, fire and EMS (Indian Wells, including the other two cove communities, have their own fire department ambulances which are CAL Fire employees) probably aren’t vaccinated (it’s a mixed bag but a lot of guys I know refused to get and I know a lot of the deputies prob haven’t, especially if they lateraled from a police agency that was going to fire them: RSO pays well and it’s a large department with lots of special assignment opportunities: SWAT, bomb squad, motorcycle, etc.).
