Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Cupid’s Kitchen – No Sugar Tonight – The Guess Who
Cupid’s Kitchen is a Chinese drama about a Michelin chef who is losing his sense of taste. Finding a hotel management trainee with a perfect sense of taste, he brings her in as an apprentice to create a digital value system for ingredients to allow himself to continue cooking. But by overdosing on untested medicine to cure himself, he goes blind. It’s when his apprentice violates his iron-clad rule and uses sugar, that he throws her out and realizes he might have reached the end of his career.
Food Images – Joseph Blanchard
Starsky and Hutch – Lasagna – “Weird Al” Yankovic
Those were fun but now I’m hungry!
Always fascinated with how beautiful Asian cuisine is. And how delectable.
I’m addicted to food dramas. This was my 3rd time watching Cupid’s Kitchen.
Funny… I went through a subtitle phase. I’m a sucker for excellent writing, excellent script, beautiful cinematography… something you and I share, I’m sure.
An old supervisor studied French and met with her group and spoke French every Wednesday night and she turned me on to Jean de Florette Manon of the Spring.
Then that went on to Asian subtitled movies. And Netflix took their genome and my likes and dislikes and introduced me to a whole new culture. Back when metadata was used to bless people and wasn’t so lurid.
Those movies were most helpful with a daughter who rarely slept through the night as a young mother. She was one of those “highly effective” people who needed little sleep… born to a Mom who wanted a solid eight. Now the tables have turned and she languishes in her sleep… while I rarely sleep 5 hours or more and I appreciate the early evening cat nap. Age.
Cupid’s Kitchen is actually almost an art film. Soft, gentle music that turns the food almost into ballet. Middle of episode 8 is a music video of the assistant tasting the chef’s food for the first time. To edit the drama for this song took ripping the sequences apart to match the rock beat.
I was going to point you to one of my movie scripts – romantic comedies – but the character names often seemed to be shoved to the left hand column when I made a PDF. Thirty years and old software takes its toll.
I’ve enjoyed what you have shared thus far. Will have to dig in and see what I can find on Cupids Kitchen online. I’ve switched from television to books and have a couple going right now, but work and daughter are demanding… so my entertainment hours are few. My Treehouse is my guilty pleasure. Bless you and your hubs, Mary.
4 posts down there’s a link to the show on YouTube. Working mothers are on a pedestal. They are the actual definition of multitasking.
Dogs walked so off to bed. Stay warm.
Mornin’ Mary 🙂
Morning, Garrison. I thought of you yesterday when I was editing the audio of this song. Cutting out real mother nature and leaving just the ending was a bit heart stopping. What saves the transition is changing to a new video sequence, I think. But I did imagine you at my shoulder.
Analog era editing booths were often pretty lonely spaces unless you had a anxious writer looking over your shoulder. They were also perfect for short naps . . . 🙂
Mornin’ JWoo 🙂
Peanut butter! Every time we watched “You Asked For It,” they would have peanut butter ads and we’d head for the kitchen to make sandwiches before the program started up again.
Ha ha.. the power of persuasion. Except you need little to persuade me when it comes to sushi!
Cupid’s Kitchen – Chinese drama – English subtitles – 40 episodes
Many can relate to this Chef, while they suffer from Parosmia from the Rona. It was a wicked side effect.
It stole much beauty from the joy of cooking.
I didn’t know that word. Thank you.
Parosmia is a distorted sense of smell. It happens when smell receptor cells in your nose don’t detect odors or transmit them to your brain. Causes include bacterial or viral infections, head trauma, neurological conditions and COVID-19. Parosmia is usually temporary, but in some cases, it’s permanent.
Yes.. and it is horrid. I’m certain it’s a form of brain damage. For me, stealing my beloved and comforting coffee and making it smell like dead fish. I could not smell meat at all and thus couldn’t discern if something were spoiled. It affected everything I loved.
Flowers. Cooking. Warm teas and coffee. I rely much on aromatics, as I gourmet cook. Couldn’t drink wine anymore and still don’t.
It was as if the disease sought out all that I loved and remembered through scent… and destroyed all of it. It was a rancid, dark hell for a solid 18 months. Now, it will just sweep up once in a while… but when it does.. it is a marked experience.
I started praying with a censur and orthodox incense… I believe it helped me…. or the prayer did. Whichever, I am thankful.
I don’t do Facebook anymore but while there… and seeking answers… there was multiple groups of 40,000 or more participants who suffered from it… all seeking answers.
Doctors know nothing and there were no treatments for it. No effective ones and many were very desperate. The lengths they go to…
But one doesn’t appreciate their sense of smell.. until it is gone.. or replaced with the smell of rotting flesh.
That’ll tamp down any thoughts of eating.
Have you tried replenishing your Zinc intake, along with a Zinc Ionophore like Quercetin?
It seems our mainstream doctors remain fairly ignorant when it comes to effectively treating Covid-19 and it’s variants.
We need Zinc to fight infections like Covid-19 AND also for our sense of taste and smell. When Zinc is depleted while fighting Covid, and maybe as an aftermath of Covid, we must take care to replenish it.
And vitamin D. I read awhile back many Americans are deficient in this vitamin.
My doc insists on it daily. Seems to help with many issues.
This is what we take daily plus K+D and others. My sense of smell has disappeared after a heavy set of blinds fell on my head years ago. Gone is gone, and I’ve gotten used to it…except at Christmas when I wish it weren’t.
Another thing about the loss of smell…memories are, for me, attached to that sense. But I can remember those smells vividly. It is quite weird really. But it’s not the same thing. And from time, even though I’ve accepted the loss, I do miss it.
Good morning, my Besty, Beasty, Betsy…
Have you lost all sense of smell altogether? If you have any remnant of it, I ordered a censur from monasteryicons.com and some orthodox incense. I could smell some things, just not all things, and things were severely distorted. I purchased this incense in homage to a dear friend who died of neuroendrocrine cancer. This was lit and present at her funeral. I use it every once in a while during my prayer time. (Not in the house… we have cats, but outside on my patio or in my garage where it is highly ventilated.) The incense is very strong.
With my prayers, and the incense, I found that I gradually grew better. I wondered if I was re-training my brain? Not sure… or quite possible just the power of deep, meditative prayer.
I recommend it for anyone who wants to take their prayer life deeper. There’s something special about setting the tone for the quiet time with the Lord. Like someone you love and setting a dinner by candlelight. I can’t describe it well.
Completely. I do so appreciate your suggestion though, JWoo. And the funny thing is with the absence of that , my taste should have departed as well. But it hasn’t. Which really is a blessing.
Incense is an often forgotten avenue for healing, frankincense, myrrh among other items used from ancient of days.
Not the oils but the actual resin, over a bit of charcoal is what we always used. Really glad to read that you found this helpful.
Here’s a story that touches on how long incense has been around to help. Our olafactory senses are important.

Yes, Judith. I did it all. I almost perished and had the help of America’s Frontline Doctors. My esophogus was so eroded from the meds, my vocal cords were damaged and I could only speak in one octave for 2 months. When I had the voice to sing in Carnegie Hall, it was a deep deep hurt to not be able to sing. I could barely talk. I tried it all. IVMCTN, Zinc, Elderberry, D, two inhalers a steroid and a albuterol inhaler, Doxycyclene, ZPACs – not in traditional step method, but in high dosage… high high dosage, steroids, and much much more. We spent literally thousands of dollars in therapeutics.
The producers of this plandemic tried to kill me. THEY FAILED. They will have to try harder.
Your loss is unimaginable. I am so very deeply sorry for what you’ve gone thru. Is there a chance your voice will recover?
Our loss was a reality and we are redeemed only by God’s grace and the help of some amazing medical professionals. (We are piping hot mad about it, though, especially as we see suffering everywhere we turn. Enhances our prayer life.)
My voice came back after two months… with the addition of Prilosec… a medication used for acid reflux and heartburn, which I never had heartburn… just damaged esophagus from the large amount of medication. Thankful for my voice back but I was very tired of the treatments and had to keep a record book on our vitals and dosages.
It was a full time job to get well – but I only lost one and a half days of work.
I would NOT recommend randomly taking IVMCTN or other meds without the aide and advice of a doctor. Call America’s Frontline Doctors if you have to. Please be careful, some meds can interfere with each other and also Doxicyclene (powerful antibiotic used in my case to prevent secondary infection) is not to be stored for long periods of time. It can become toxic if you try to keep it for future use.
Know your meds and tread carefully.
There is much to answer for, my sister. I am so sorry.💕
Much to answer for, Bets… and I defer it all to God… for HE KNOWS. In His Perfect Timing, He will make all things right again. We just have to hold on.
Amen and amen.🙏🏻
Nicotine gum has worked for many.
There are nerve receptors that bind toxins from Covid. Nicotine binds to those receptors more strongly and knocks off the toxins that are causing the nerve disfunction.
Smokers are known to be less susceptible to Covid. That’s not a reason to start smoking of course, but nicotine by itself is a good drug in this case. Nicotine is also anti-parasitic.
Look for the government to start restricting nicotine gum, because it helps people. Maybe it should be part of our preparedness “stash.”
Yes…I see you’ve done your research. There are also many studies that nicotine inhibits Parkinson’s, which I have passed on to a beloved friend.
Like I’ve said before Bet, to late for me to start smoking again, after 35 years. ❤️😘
Patches, my beloved brother. Because I love you.
(Please forgive me if I’ve overstepped.🙏🏻)
You haven’t, dear Bet! ❤️
Phew…I was worried🙏🏻😘
I read one of the studies that patches didn’t show the results smoking does. Maybe I should hang around my SIL more often. She still enjoys her smokes. 😊 And I don’t mind the second hand smoke.
Breathe deeply!💕
Interesting you say that Appeal. I am not a smoker and we get sick from the smoke. But, when I was around cigarette smoke… it seemed to help me get better. My lungs were damaged with MOPD (like COPD, but not chronic… mild… but progressive). Inhaling the cigarette smoke caused my lungs to feel opened. Very strange. Also strange is that cigarette smoke is my most hated scent… it killed my mother when I was 9 yo, so I hate it… hate it!
Isn’t it strange how this illness attacks and ravages that which I love… and elevates that which I hate. I swear… it’s brain damage.
Sincere best wishes for you!
Your comments are greatly appreciated.
HORRIBLE! And so glad it only makes periodic visits now. It’s a worthwhile research area to keep your eye on to see if they develop more information on this problem.
FWIW, I have a friend who had same. She took one dose of Ivermectin weekly (as needed) and it helped. Not sure of amount, where she got it (paste? or prescription?) or if that’s a good idea. But don’t expect medical community to help you know the truth. So sad.
The medical community as a whole today are simply the handmaidens to their employers – -hospitals, government, and pharma…or as I choose to see the latter in Biblical terms, Pharmakeia.
They have forgotten their oaths, if they ever took them; and have squandered all principles of healing (those long ago). And their worst sin?
They took the trust which was inherent in their profession and freely given by patients who gave theirs to them…and wiped their muddy boots all over it.
And yes, I know there are still some good, ethical doctors. We see them desperately fighting against the evil players. Thank Almighty God there are still those who will not bend the knee and who have their humanity in place.
Betsy, I agree with you wholeheartedly… but with some physicians I withhold my anger, because they have been beaten into submission with all they go through to fight this epidemic, the torte claims brought on them by the zealous, the hefty insurance penalties, the usurping of their authority by medical insurance providers, the onslaught of the drug reps, the demand of the patients… and lacking the knowledge of how this illness was “engineered” and cures are only found when we can reverse engineer it. Doctors and nurses are the most screwed demographic in all of this. God bless them all and may WE THE PEOPLE get a handle on all of it and RESTORE LAW AND ORDER.
Good morning Bet! You are so right. Thank God there still are some good and ethical doctors but a large part of the medical community has decided to serve Baal and mammon. My friend the local doc in our little town is one of the good ones but even he was duped in the beginning about the jab. Not any more, though.
Thank goodness, G. So many were duped, this is true. And there may be some good to come from this, if that is even possible. If others who were likewise fooled allied themselves into one massive group, perhaps the fight back could start. As with the Great Barrington Declaration.
We are signed up with a DO and when we go we see his exceptional and compassionate PAs. Ours is the doppelganger of Kayle McEneny in looks and personality.
I love this practice because at no point have they ever asked if we have been jabbed or pushed the shameful propaganda. We feel very comfortable with that practice and consider ourselves fortunate to have found them.
IVMCTN can be found. Human kind. Small apothecaries and they can command a fortune for it, because they are taking deep risks.
My granddaughter found this USA sourced Ivermectin. It sounds expensive $190, but that’s for 100 12mg each tablets so about $1.90 each:

Good morning JWoo and Mary. After my bout with covid a bit over 2 years ago I couldn’t smell red wine. I could taste it just fine but after I would swirl it in the glass I’d take a whiff and nothing. It was such a bummer. OTOH, I could smell dog poo just fine. Always wondered why it couldn’t be the other way around? 😆
See my comment above M… you are right. Takes the good and destroys it and replaces it with crap. You’re spot on. But God is good and I can smell the Hyacinths now that beckon to my daughter’s birthday. I rejoice in the small things and am drawn to prayer when the sickening wave reappears.
The devil won’t steal my joy. I do have a rack of wine that is sadly wasted though.
No good wine should ever go to waste. 😂
I once worked for a small South African wine importer. We had samples in the office, which was in the Cowboy building as was, right next to where they had their press conferences. I would simply walk next door and watch those. Tom Landry was head coach then. Good times.
Anyway, the company was made up of 4 geologists from Tyler who had more money than sense. This, plus the fact they drank all their samples soon out an end to that little enterprise. I was young and naïve, and couldn’t figure out who those samples were meant for. I soon discovered.
Believe me, no wine went to waste there.😂
LOL!
👍🏻😁
JWoo, all joking aside, I kept on checking my sense of smell against my quite large wine collection so my bride eventually decided I was enjoying too much and put me on the wagon. So my wine has been sitting all alone besides the occasional glass at a holiday gathering. I don’t mind it, I’d rather have a happy bride. She’s been under enormous stress with her sister, don’t want to add to it.
I’m a tee-totaler but my awareness of alcohol is so extreme that friends always used me to sniff their drinks to see if the bar had put in much alcohol. Because husband and a few close friends enjoyed wine tastings, I educated myself so I could do horizontal and vertical wine sniffings. Our basement has a wine cellar where I amassed a large collection of wine as gifts for husband that is, undoubtedly, mostly dead by now. Husband can’t finish a bottle of wine anymore, so we haven’t opened a bottle in a decade.
There’s still old Taylor port, Petrus, d’Yquem, Mouton Rothschild, Montelena, Margaux and Schloss Vollrads. Mother and husband drank the ’61 Lafite Rothschild. I was so curious about it that I dipped my finger in it and licked. It was everything they said. The taste was so big that no matter what I tried, I couldn’t get the taste out of my mouth.
Now you are making my taste buds tickle. 🙂
Your bride and I would get along splendidly. I’ve read your posts and your family is always in my prayers.
🙂
And blessed God Morning to you, M.
Life’s not like that, G 😂
Surreal
Good Morning !

Caturday ! La Chat!

Good morning, monticello! I had forgotten that song. So young. So beautiful. Fun.
Seems like another world now
Good observation. Our world view has changed from those days, but the world has also changed around us. That’s why I turned to Chinese and Korean dramas. That world is closer to the days of our youth, though it, too, will inevitably change.
Here’s a balloon with an American flag on it. Let’s storm Heaven by sending up “prayer balloons” asking the Lord for the protection of American airspace, and that He send His Holy Spirit blowing across our land, fanning flames of revival so even more prayers and praise rise up.
Photo taken by me years ago at the Wizard of Oz festival in Chittenango, NY, birthplace of the author of the Wizard of Oz, L Frank Baum. Wishing everyone a most uplifting weekend!
And here’s some fitting music to fly by – “Up, Up and Away” by The 5th Dimension.
This ascension event was a few blocks from our house.
Hot Air Balloons – Up Up and Away – The Fifth Dimension
Very cool!
I hadn’t had my first video camera long and I was practicing tracking.
Good morning, Mary
A very good morning, JWoo. Husband is freaking out over the cold wave. First time since childhood I’ve seen frost on the inside of windows. And they’re even double insulated! Thank goodness for hot water bottles. No outside animals eating peanuts tonight.
Understand. We in Central Indiana are used to the cold and just a bit further north… lake effect snow from our beautiful Lake Michigan. Kids love the frost on the inside of windows. Great canvas for drawing as they wait for the school bus.
Patience to your dear husband that this will pass and even the cold days can lend to warm memories and make one appreciate more moderate weather.
I was in Chicago when that old snowstorm buried cars, and in MA when another left us all stranded on the circle highways around Boston. Always grateful to the National Guard for getting us out. Grateful to be toasty warm and looking out from in. And wishing I could tuck blankets around all the outside animals.
Depending on type of animals, I’ve heard of those who use insulated coolers to make cold weather shelter for feral animals. Styrofoam coolers, barrels with straw, and the like. Outdoor critters are resourceful but one can help them out by providing aged fruit cut up that is past our desired use. Wrinkled grapes, bruised apples, berries… and unsalted nuts.
Prayers Up! Good morning, Phoenix
Up, up and away in my Chinese balloon? Not to worry, the Pentagon is “monitoring” it as it passes all across the central United States. We aren’t enforcing our borders either on the ground OR in the air.
Good morning, phoenix. Very reminiscent for me of the Hot Air Balloon festival we always hosted in our town in Wales. I posted a video last week of the beautiful hills and valleys which made the area so perfect for the venue.
To see about 100 various and colourful balloons in the air all over the Vale was truly spectacular.
One landed at the top of our lane just as I was arriving home from work. Grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my husband, and we walked back up to stand there in the beautiful late afternoon to watch as they reinflated and drifted off. An unexpected pleasure.
Love the picture.
Morning Ya’ll 🙂
Mornin’ jay 🙂
Howdy Garrison 🙂
Oh, well done!
🙂 😉
Hi, Jay
Good choice, Patience. Love me some Judy Collins. 🙂
It’s late.. but hello Garrison.
💖
Good afternoon, Patience!
Good morning, Jay. Looking forward to Spring time now. Winter is nice but I’m tired and cold and Spring promises another birthday in this household and the scent of hyacinth. I’m ready for celebrating and for cold weather to break.
My friends have **finally** convinced me that I’m too old to be climbing ladders & trimming trees. I have to have my neighbor’s tree guy come take care of some pesky new growth before things start budding . . .
Did they have to hog tie you and make you sign a document promising you would get someone in to do the necessaries?? 😊
I say this because my husband keeps doing things he used to do with ease, and won’t be dissuaded, even though there are at his age risks attached. He is slowly admitting he needs to be judicious but it has taken time. And I’m breathing a bit easier…
I know Bet, my bride told me plenty of times she was worried about me walking on the ice. I told her the only one I was worried about was her. 😁 TBTG, no accidents. And my mom managed to go to her wood pile one time. When asked why not wait for me, she said he was a Mountain woman. 🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love you, Bets. ROFLOL I am all for a public gathering to hog tie Garrison! Now that would go viral, but I’d bet he’d give us all the most outrageous 8 seconds of our lives.
Rodeo anyone??? LOL
I don’t think you’re right, my friend…I know you are!!😂
I like your friends. There’s no loss of honor in letting the younguns do it, G. As a matter of fact, you are building character in the youth who must learn the worth of a hard day’s labor. Kick back, brew some sweet tea to bless them in their labors, and let the young bucks have at it. You’ve done your time. Not that you can’t keep doing it, but oftentimes the mind is much stronger than the body. (Especially yours, I bet!!!!)
Can’t keep a good man down. And if there were ever a good man, Garrison it is!
Incredible Beautiful!
That photo is amazing… you can almost feel the chill
Morning, Mr jay. I am blown away with this. Now THAT is art! The night “black as pitch from pole to pole”.
Right up there with Ansel Adams! There is something timeless about black and white.
Yes!!!! Exactly. I’ve always been extremely partial to black and white photography. How very right you are.
🥶🥶🥶
Nuff said…👍🏻
Gosh, love this, J! All it needs is a howling wolf …
😂😂
Is that frosty breath, too?
You think of everything!
I can see you, Mr jay, popping out of your Aladdin’s lamp saying, “Your wish is my command!”😉
Good afternoon jay!
Howdy Gramps 🙂

The older I get, the more convinced I am that cats have the right approach to life. Horizontal.
We always said when going to gwelli (bed), “Well, I’m going to get horizontal”.
Love the matchy matchy bed, bed clothes, and occupant.
He “thinks” he’s camouflaged! 😹
Catoflaged?
It’s a thing!
👍🏻!
😹 😹 😹
😁💕
awwwww – so cute – a little bed that’s just cat-sized
latest trend in urban parking enforcement … don’t double-park, y’hear?
Happy Caturday, y’all !
Love these Nimrod! My girl laughed so much at the cat napping beside the rail car disaster.
thx, JWoo
I picked both up at the same time, they were on Imgur, look like they’re from the same creator
when I go to look on imgur, there’s a front page that’s got a bunch of current, today’s photos, there often are some good ones
“when I go to LOG ON TO imgur”, is what I meant to say
Thanks for that!
I held on the image and made it to Imgur and spent a surprising amount of time I didn’t have to spend, and I sent some cool videos to people.
I forget about that site from time to time.
Good morning, Leon. Simply peaceful.
One more . . .
Thank you Garrison; really nice! 🙂
The sounds inside “the nothing box” just relaxation!
🙂
Good morning, Garrison. I love these. Very smooth.
Found this yesterday by chance, and thought of you. Paul Simon…I think you’ll approve…
Good morning, Bet. That song fits me to a tee. So, thanks. Paul Simon in this period was, like Billy Joel, a very insightful writer-of-songs. Happily the depression has lifted—note for anyone feeling depressed: just wait, it will (usually) depart after awhile. I’m going to see some family members next week, something I’m really looking forward to doing. I’m finding that when you reach a certain age (I’ll be 79 this summer) you sort of find yourself living in time-out-of-time. “Still Crazy” fits perfectly.
We share an age, Garrison, and maybe a birth month. I can usually date someone by whether they remember Space Cadet’s secret decoder ring.
Sgt. Preston Of The Yukon for me. The theme music to the Sat. morning radio show was Overture to Donna Dianna by Emil von Reznicekj. Took me years, humming and whistling to music profs, to discover who wrote that music.
Up in my attic is a leather satchel that my father engraved. I keep in it all my old 45s and 78s. One of the 78’s is a Sgt Preston album which I can still remember listening to in the cubicle of the record buying store.
I’m so glad I posted it then. And if you’ll forgive the impertinence, I did so because I instinctively felt (hoped) that would be your reaction. I stumbled across it yesterday. Never heard it before and was instantly smitten.
And yes…like you I thought almost immediately of Billy Joel.
I am so glad the clouds have parted for you, my friend. When a day is an eternity and all the minutes in each hour seem as though they’ll never pass. Joy! I’m sure your visit will be a tonic. Plus the pleasure in anticipating it. So very pleased…very🤗
Garrison: Great sound. So light and playful.
🙂
Afternoon Garrison!
Gramps!!! 🙂
Thank you WP and good morning. Great word to not treat every affliction as a personal slight. Merely a faith exercise in The One Who Promises never to leave or forsake us. He Is Good and True and His Word never returns void.
Good AM JWoo, and Amen.
He makes God sound like a creep, torturing us and telling us it is because it is good for us. Probably should leave off lines like ‘knowing full well what would come to pass’.
Of course he knew what was going to happen. The point as he expresses it, “Why are you so afraid? How is it you have no faith?” If you are sailing across the sea of Galilee in a storm and the Son of God is sleeping in the back of the boat, what is there to be afraid of? All the days of my life were written in his book before one of them came to be. So whatever today brings, should I be afraid? Afraid of what?
Why I am not churched.
The Scripture here, “It is good for me that I have been afflicted.” Psalm 119:17, has ministered greatly to me over the years, WP.
The Lord helped me understand that had it not been for my afflictions, I would never have sought Him. And there have been some serious traumas along the way, but God knew what I needed to break such a strong-will. I now thank Him for these afflictions. 🙏🏻
Good morning Miss Della 🤗
Yes, we seek and know God because of the experiences from Him! ✝
Good blessed morning to you, Stevie!
And, now the Lord is teaching me – to stay out of the way while I watch my loved ones suffer their afflictions..
I want to shield them from hurt and pain. But He is using such to draw them to Himself. So I go back to my little corner – and pray, wait and watch. God even gives me the grace to do so. Amazing.
It’s hard, Della. CS Lewis said that life is hard. It gives you the test first, and the lesson after. Every one of us understands what he is speaking of, and can say a heartfelt “amen” to it.
Letting go is not leaving, but I agree…when they are our children, sometimes it is not an easy thing to watch the learning. I’ve had to do it…not easy at all.
Somehow, I knew you’d understand, Betsy. And probably many others whose hands are tied and counsel ignored as we wait for Almighty God to rescue.
Love that Lewis statement!
Also heard that the “Teacher” is always quiet during a test.
(Lord, where are you? what are you doing?) I just want to pass it! 💕
Oh yes. But if we listen carefully, the Holy Spirit is speaking. I love that. I heard you loud and clear, my sister mother.💕
When mine were younger and I was passing on what I’d learned through my own missteps and lessons learned, I’d say to them that I’d gone before, machete in hand and hacked through the jungle that is life, to try to give them a clearer path…if only they’d pay attention.
Of course, I knew they’d have to make their own way with their own errors and lessons learned. But I hoped my advice and words given at the time would at least bubble to the surface while they were choosing.
This I love…
“Have faith in your journey. Everything has to happen exactly as it did to get to where you are going next.”
The time comes when we just have to let go of the tiller and let Him steer our children in the direction He has planned for them and which only He knows.
Oops – Psalm 119:71.
Excellent verse, thank you for posting it.
I recognize the benefit…….now. Dealing with back issues since 1997 is challenging. And life altering.
One can either allow it to be life altering for the bad, or as that verse points out so very well, for the good.
Never quit. Never, ever, ever, EVER quit.
Trying to reach one of my kids who has deviated from how he was raised is killing me. There are consequences to what is and is not being done. Things MUST change. For both him and his wife.
I’m struggling so very hard with this right now. I’m praying, often, throughout the day. I cannot let it go. Something has to change. And soon.
I’ll keep reading not only that verse, but the surrounding verses as well. Thank you for posting it.
Hi Greg, the verse first posted by WP – I only re-emphasized as it means so much to me.
Sorry to hear of your long-term back problem. My AS had serious back surgery ten years ago, and it left him with lingering effects. Wish I could fix that, too.
If this helps at all, the Lord is teaching me to give others “GRACE” to make their life decisions – the same way He let me choose. For better or worse. No, it’s not easy. But eventually, we learn. He knows how to intervene. And, the Lord loves them more than we do.
Another life-changing Scripture and daily meditation:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6
🙏🏻 ✝️
Been there, Greg, with one of mine. After reaching bottom, he reversed course and came out the other side. I empathize with your poignant post. Very much so.
Greg, I’m there with my youngest son right now.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻…always.
Love these kinds of videos expressing the cat’s point of view! 🙂
🙂
Sent that one on to the kid. She so enjoys these and I love to hear her laugh. Thank you

Largest day as of yet 19. Plus a couple I could not find anything on.
This day is sponsored by Worf
Wow that was many, Magic! Thank you for sharing the reminiscing.
I love The Carpenters. Their Christmas album is one of my favorites. Karen Carpenter’s voice is heavenly.
perfect voice for the material, old sea-farer tales
for better fidelity, look up the studio version from the album Nine
ah, hell – here it is
My first choice for posting is always a live human version with at least decent picture and sound quality to kinda connect a face to the name, if I feel is merited I may post a second (or third) high quality sounding version either live or studio recording.
Leaves plenty of room for just what you did here, post a favorite version from the artist.
Heck I could have posted a half dozen of Karen’s or Ricky’s stuff (esp My Rifle My Pony but posted for Dean Martin), but just my personal opinion.
And yes perfect sea faring voice
Walter Brennan, Ricky Nelson and Dean Martin with John Wayne looking on approvingly!
Rio Bravo and El Dorado. Two Wayne flicks with similar plots and two of the best IMO.
I’d give the nod to “Rio Bravo”.
“The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence” has been picking up more and more accolades as the decades roll by. Roger Ebert even put it on his “Great Movies” list. The Harvard Crimson, yes, that Harvard, gave it a rave review!
Thanks for posting “will you love me tomorrow”. Sad about doris coley’s cancer. Good to see her sing in person… I dont think I’ve ever seen that video.
That song was my go-to karaoke song!
There are some fairly recent postings of rare stuff, not such good quality.
I think one of them either is or shortly after her high school talent show of this song.
+1 on those Troggs, y’all
Hiram Holliday – Traveling Man – Ricky Nelson
Wally Cox, the hero of my childhood. Always remember him swordfighting with his umbrella.
This is the ending scene of The 3rd Man. I watched the film again tonight—warm fire, comfortable chair, while sipping some good bourbon. This is the best spy film ever made. This is the poignant last scene, one of Joseph Cotton’s best I think. He was going to take Anna back to America . . . but she was having none of it . . . What an ending for a truly great film.
Maybe if he would have continued his stroll towards her, it might have ended differently?
Haven’t seen this movie but would like to.
Good morning, Garrison.
This is one of the greatest spy films ever made. If you get a chance to watch it—by all mean do so. I’ve watched it probably a dozen time or so. It never gets old.
I’m making a list!
Garrison: I must try to watch “The 3rd Man” this evening. Your taste is impeccable.
See above 🙂 These are IMHO the best spy films ever made. Perfect for cold winter’s night entertainment.
-And I Love You So
Oh my… I’m so partial to the Elvis version. His voice was so unique. Dreamy. Thanks Patience
I’m partial to Elvis’ version of anything he sings.
For some people caregiving of a loved one is a test of loyalty, something family does because it is expected and, often, because there’s simply no one else who can help. The 18 years I cared for my wife weren’t like that at all. Every day with her was a blessing. I think the Lord intended for it to be that way. We fell in love all over again. That experience gave our 55 years together new meaning. It showed that were there is trust and loyalty, lasting love will maintain . . . Thanks Patience/friend for posting this wonderful music. Excuse me for a moment—I’ve got something in my eye. 🙂
Leave it to you Patience…just right. As always.
(One for you😘 and always one for Ma 😘)
“Every tree that produces not good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.”
Matthew 7:16-27 “You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thorns, or figs from thistles? Even so every good tree produces good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit. Every tree that brings not forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire. Then truly by their fruits you shall know them. Not every one that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name? and in Your name have cast out demons? and in Your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart away from Me, you that work the lawlessness. Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house upon a rock: and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that hears these sayings of Mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish (stupid, lit. moron) man, who built his house upon the sand: and the rain came down, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”
The obvious point in this teaching, is for us not to deceive ourselves about our standing with God, and so, of our ultimately being saved. The message is clear from the beginning of the Bible, that an outward show is not acceptable; but “truth in the inward parts;” (Psalm 51:6; Genesis 4:5-7) and that our wisdom from God is known in the ways of our heart, although they be concealed from the view of men. The proof of our character is evidenced by the acting out of our natural disposition, in our thinking, and in our conduct. Our religion, is faith in Him, who has power to give life to the Words of God in our innermost selves, and to show forth the glory in the image and likeness of God’s character and natural disposition, wrought in us through the obedience of faith.
The picture used of a fruit-tree, shows us that, that is precisely the way we are to know what kind we are; “by our fruit.” If we are of a good and honest heart, where the Word has been able to be planted deep, and grow up and sprout; then we will grow and mature, and produce fruit to God; “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, self-control;” because, that is what kind we are; reflecting the grace and truth by His Spirit given into our heart.
When a man does not produce those fruits of the Spirit; then the Scriptures say, that he is blind, short-sighted, and forgetful of his being long ago cleansed from his sins Or may in fact be, that he is still not even converted, and therefore there is no real evidence of divine working by a profoundly changed life. So, either one is gotten off the strait and narrow way of the Spirit of Christ; or he is fallen victim to a spurious experience, and is not even yet saved at all. Not to make one sad, whom the Lord has not made sad; or to put anyone in fear without cause; but to demonstrate, that being of a wholly right seed, which has taken root and is sprouting and growing and bringing forth fruit, is the mark of true conversion, and the work of God of saving the soul; and it cannot be hid, or counterfeited, or exchanged.
When we read the Bible; in every part of the Law, and the Prophets, and the Psalms, and the New Testament; all throughout every Book and Epistle and History Narrative; there is an accounting of man to God for his life, in all its characteristics. The LORD God keeps rising early and sending, continually and carefully, to speak to men, that they consider their ways and turn again to Him. God has set all the things which we encounter in our days, as “Wisdom crying out to men in the chief places of concourse;” calling them to awaken from their sleep in sin and alienation from Him, and from the cares and vain distractions of life, to come to Him and live; to turn from the evil, to the good.
The natural state of man born into this world, is one of spiritual darkness and alienation from God. But we have a spirit in us, which was originally made to replicate the LORD; and the effect of the fall, was that it opened the soul to that which is contrary to all that we were made for; and holding us bound in chains of guilt and servitude to sin, without strength to escape, until Jesus Christ comes and sets us free.
In the context of this text; we are shown again by Jesus, that there is in fact a way for man to be fit for the Presence of God, and well pleasing in His sight, despite our present humiliated condition in this world. The answer to our problem with God, is not that we are in this world, but that we are evil without God in this world. That’s why the coming of Christ in the flesh is called the announced Glad Tidings of Salvation; because it is Good News from a “far country;” about our rescue from the evil of this world, which was our bondage to sin, and alienated nature towards God. The Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil; and His Name is called Yeshua, Yehovah is Salvation, for He shall save His people from their sins.
If we need evidence of our salvation, we should look to Jesus’ work for us on the cross, rather than to our own work.
Simply believe in Jesus’ saving work for you. Good works will follow well enough as you remain in the Word.
For those of us who are not perfect (I certainly am not), God’s grace and forgiveness are abundant.
“Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
Hello 1530
Yes, we do need evidence! We have been given the Holy Spirit into our hearts as a Pledge of the Whole Inheritance to come. For the same reason, our obedience of faith, keeping the commandments of God, is the evidence we must present; just like having to show your ID at an Official Agency, our fruits, our works, are the proof that we are the Covenant People of God. By grace we are saved, for good works, “which He has before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Forgiveness is not a free pass to continue in sin. The New Creation that occurs with the New Birth, comes by grace through faith; faith that is the evidence of things wrought of God by His Spirit in us.
James 2:14-26 “What does it profit, my brethren, though a man say he has faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, and one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be you warmed and filled; notwithstanding you give them not those things which are needful to the body; what does it profit? Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone. Solemnly assured, a man may say, You have faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? [Do] you see how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect (complete)? And the scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. You see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot (inn-keeper) justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
Revelation 19:8 “And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.”
Good morning, friends.
You are so delightful and fill a precious space of time. So many offerings of joy. I am like a bee buzzing to each of your flowers.
I do not know how to share private pictures and such.. and don’t tend to explore the world wide web too much. Plus, I feel highly inadequate in my curated tastes compared to your wisdom.
I am blessed to share my check marks of enjoyment… even if I don’t always comment. I don’t have to say something about everything… I try to keep my ego small… but I’m always with you in Spirit.
Blessings and God be with you all. Much love friends.

Daniel (Russian Blue) and Timothy (Blonde DSH) – litter mate brothers…
Danny is the one who recently passed on. May he Rest In Peace and be waiting for me at Heaven’s Gate.
You speak from my heart my friend. Its always been awkward for me to just freely mingle; especially among those who have already been long time friends.
I like what you write; but most times I don’t really feel comfortable just piling in to other people’s conversations.
Grace, mercy and peace to you, Friend.
Do what I do, Michael.
Just barge right in. There are no doors on these branches of ours.
So much of what is posted strikes a chord within me that I can’t help myself. I must respond.
This is the beauty of this bless-ed and, I believe, blessed site.
Last night on a thread Sundance posted about this balloon business, a fellow Treeper, Luke, with whom I’ve had wonderful conversations, commented. And as an addendum, he placed a prayer request for his mother and father, who is in apparent terrible health. He asked that no one reply because he did not want to highjack the thread.
Of course all of his neighbours in the Tree responded with their prayers. But…
Suddenly there appeared Sundance himself, interjecting with one of the most beautiful, warm prayers I have ever seen. It was long. It was heartfelt. It brought me and others to tears.
And then, more prayers for Luke, his mother and family. It was truly a burst of love and concern. And after? More people jumping right in with their own prayers. I would say it was a beautiful miracle for him.
I’ve noticed with joy that you are adding comments to other posts. And I say with joy because I sensed you felt you were too new to do so and were therefore hesitant. You are such a valuable neighbour and dweller in these branches. And a friend most dear.
There is nothing like the camaraderie here anywhere else. And I remember saying to you that perhaps this is where you have been guided. I believe absolutely it is so.
You are a blessing here. So please don’t hesitate to jump in as the Spirit moves you. As it moves us all.
Friendship is a sheltering Tree, said Samuel Taylor Coleridge, my friend. Believe it and comment away! Bet🤗
“Do what I do, Michael.
Just barge right in.”

You tickle me, B!

So good to see earl scruggs and lester flatt. My 100 y.o. friend (who just passed two mos ago) knew them, so I feel a special connection to them.
as an FYI to those who don’t know, they play the theme song on beverly hillbillies.
thank you for posting michael! I am not familiar with their “real music”, so it is good to hear/see them sing about our Lord.
Love those songs! Thanks!
It brings back memories when I was a little girl.
I would hear those songs at church and religious gatherings.
OK, I feel like hyperventilating today with my imagination telling me that: 1. Balloons aren’t carrying “heavy Equipment. 2. Mr. Biden, the compromised, gets the message – something China wants bad – that either you capitulate or else 3. USA just can’t wait China out because we have them all lined up in succession. 4. other support cities get same treatment (Tokyo, London, etc…). This is worrisome because Biden is compromised by shady dealings with China.
Dear Cliff, You are not alone in feeling like that; these are truly dangerous times, and looking around for a man (any man) to come to the rescue, makes things look even more hopeless. But we do have hope, a great hope, in Jesus. Trust in Him, and look to Him; for all your cares and fears. I take great comfort, and have real peace in my heart; even with this disaster unfolding in the world. The Bible tells us about all these things; why they are, and how they’re gonna turn out in the end. Know this, that God has all things in His control, ALL THINGS, AND EVERYONE!
It also helps to not spend more than a few minutes looking at the News; unless of course you enjoy that sinking feeling and an acid stomach. 🙂
Keep you head up, Brother.
Good morning to you, Cliff.
I am a single Mom of a beautiful, Christian,
teenager daughter. I believe fear comes from the devil and not from our Lord.
When things became very dire for us due to a wayward father who attacked us and caused us to lose our home during the first part of the pandemic… I turned to The Lord and HAD NO FEAR.
In my Spirit, I recall that The Lord does not make mistakes… we are made perfectly… Psalm 139.
I remembered that The Lord equips the called and He works all for our good Romans 8:28.
Through my training in The Word, I recalled that this resembles quite the environment of the Second Coming of Christ and I became amazed and humbled that The Lord saw fit for us to be alive right now… during a time such as this… and I imagine Him saying to me.. “Watch this! Put it into record what you witness.” He places us in the cleft of the rock shielded by His Mighty Hand.
I speak over you today and to those reading that no matter what, our Lord Reigns and HE WINS. If He can take a lowly shepherd boy like David, and give him great bravery and strength, and make him a brilliant king… then He Will equip you as well… perfectly… for whatever and whichever may come… in the Perfect Timing He Plans.
Take heart all and clasp on to the faithfulness that is our Lord Jesus Christ. He Will never leave you or forsake you. We are Divine Witnesses to history.
In Jesus’s Holy and Saving Name, I pray for you all and love you.
AMEN
I feel compelled – so I will stand and profess
If you are not currently a believer in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and you want to understand what we proclaim, God makes it very simple…
Just one way to pray:
Father, I am a sinner
I cannot save myself from my sins
I believe You sent Your Son, Jesus Christ, to save me
He died on the cross, defeated death, and rose again and ascended into Heaven
a Holy and Living Sacrifice for my sins
through His Death and Ascension
I am clean and saved by faith in Him
and through Him, You have redeemed me
Walk with me, Father, now and always
Teach me Your Ways and grant me understanding
through the Holy Spirit
Your Will Be Done
In Jesus’s Holy and Saving Name, AMEN
There are other words that you can say – it is meant to be simple and Holy. Verses to study can be found here. https://www.crosswalk.com/faith/prayer/the-sinners-prayer-4-examples.html
You are in the family of the Living God. You have His Promises Proclaimed through His Word. Do not worry if it all makes sense right away, for The Holy Spirit is sent to you to indwell in you to help you with understanding in due time. Do not be frought with worry that you don’t know enough, study enough, are “good” enough. Nope… God needs none of that. He just needs your trust and love. Trust Him. He’s The Way, The Truth, The Life… eternally.
Go and be baptized when you can. It is an outward proclamation of an internal commitment. Doesn’t have to be fancy… you can be dunked in a river or a bath tub, or a baptistry. Doesn’t matter. If anyone wants to make you wait to be scheduled for it… they’re crazy. When The Holy Spirit leads — let go and just DO… no matter what time… day or night. Scripture reading to learn more can start with Matthew, Mark, Luke and John – His disciples and witnesses to His walk of human life.
If visual effects are helpful, start watching The Chosen free on angelstudios.com.
And we here on the Tree will always pray for you. Prayer requests at the top of the page. It is our honor to do so.
A private story of the conversion of my precious and only daughter (she turns 17 in March)
My daughter was snatched from the grip of death during a difficult childbirth. 24.5 hours of terrible labor only to perform a cesaerean section as her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck twice and knotted. If she had come further on her own, she would have perished. Our medical practitioners kept filing in proclaiming us the miracle “double nuccol with a knot” – she had been that way since 12 weeks in utero but maybe they weren’t able to see the extent of her predicament until she made her grand entrance.
We are a people of faith. We love the Lord. We marvel and give thanks openly at every miracle we see, no matter how small. We rely on Him for everything because He gives us the breathe of life every single day.
At 9 years old, my daughter wakes me.
“Mom, I want to be baptized”
“Savannah, what does it mean to you to be baptized?”
“It means I believe in Jesus Christ who died on the cross as a sacrifice for my sins. He died so that I may live eternally.”
“When do you want to do that, honey?”
“Today.”
“Well, it is March 1st, and your birthday is coming soon – March 29th – would you like to wait and do it then and we can arrange a gathering of friends to come and share this celebration?”
“No, today.”
“Why today?” – It was Central IN and we just had about 6 to 8 inches of snow accumulated overnight and it was really, really cold outside and dark and dreary.
“Because the Holy Spirit is telling me to.”
“GO get dressed!!!!”
We got to our church and the baptismal was closed. The water was usually heated, but this time… it was cold and untouched. We shed our street clothes and robed up and we descended into the freezing water and there… I handed my precious daughter to The Lord and I was blessed to baptize her in The Name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. I felt my responsibility as a Mom – quite simply pass to Him – because she now belonged fully to Him and I am just her caregiver and steward. Her salvation was complete.
We had worn our undergarments under our robes. And so when our church service was over and we went out to the world again, we celebrated by going to our local Steak-N-Shake. (We were dirt poor, so that’s about what we could afford.) My shirt was wet due to my underwear underneath being fully soaked and I just beamed and pointed to everyone that I saw….
“ASK ME WHY MY SHIRT IS WET!!!!” I was, and am, a JUBILANT MOM.
My daughter, Savannah, is a Heavenly force to be reckoned with. When she prays, she has the red line into God’s Ear. I am merely a spectator. I am in awe of the things He Will Do in her life. She has had four students who have trusted her to discuss their suicidal tendencies. She has turned MANY bullies totally around and calmed them, befriended them, and helped them to be good human beings. (There is a root to all hurt.)
She is now in a very public school and the ministering has not ceased. Recently, a student approached her (a reckless bully) and trusted her in confidence that her Mother attempted to kill herself with a knife because she could no longer sustain their mortgage and she did so in front of her 17 year old daughter and 11 year old daughter. My daughter took her and walked with her to get help and adults in administration came alongside to help to restore the Mom, save her home, and her children.
We walk in the darkness of this world, but we are not OF this world… we are IN this world to DO HIS WILL.
I call you out, because YOU CAN DO THIS TOO. We can be the change that we want to see in the world and we GIVE HIM THE GLORY when we are blessed with HIS MERCIES.
Sorry this is long, but YOU NEED TO KNOW THAT YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE. You are HOLY, RIGHTEOUS, AND REDEEMED. It is NEVER TOO LATE.
All our love, friends. Let’s band together and press onward against the forces of darkness.
JWoo, I have a 10 year old granddaughter who is following in your beloved daughter’s footsteps. She told her mother she wished to be baptized. She always speaks to others about Christ in such a way that for her it is the most natural thing to do.
This is such a beautiful personal story.
And her birth? Almighty God had plans for her then, it seems clear to me. Impossible to see it any other way. May He bless and keep her, and make His face to shine upon her always and be gracious unto her.
And you, my friend💕
“Just one way to pray” should read “Just one sample of prayer”… there are so many ways… so simple. Make it simple. Love you.
“Now I lay me down to sleep . . .” I was talking to a dear friend about faith. I urged him to accept Christ, telling him how easy it was to simply accept Him. He insisted he “couldn’t go that far . . .”. Then, about a week later I got a phone call. My friend said he’d started repeating this childhood prayer every night. I told him—YOU’RE IN!!! I could sense his relief as we talked. My sense of relief that a friend of more than 50 years had accepted Christ equaled his. 🙂
What a tremendous blessing to witness a friend make the connection to his or her Creator. We may not always get to see it happen in real time, but it’s the planting of the seeds that we are responsible for, and for The Lord to nourish the seed and make it grow and yield fruit.
This is beautiful, J! I needed this reminder today, and you’d be hard-pressed to find someone here that doesn’t.
I’m saving these thoughts.
Another Scripture that I often meditate on for comfort and peace:
”The LORD has established His throne in the heavens,
And His sovereignty rules over all.”
Psalm 103:19
AMEN, my sister, Della. Let us all find the precious works of our Father in Heaven and help us to proclaim them outwardly… because people need reminders of THE ETERNAL HOPE WE HAVE IN HIM.
These devils on earth are defeated. They are powerless. They cannot remove us from Him… not ever.. and we are promised Eternity! I cast out the devil and send him back to the pits of hell where he belongs! My God Is Powerful and He Is Undefeated and Undefeatable!!!
The movie “War Room” with Priscilla Scherer speaks so well to this and the power of prayer and invoking Him. At God’s Name the devil will flee!!!
Jesus is on the main line, JWoo. Thank you for posting this. Be well, love. 🙂
First Afghanistan and now this. There’s a pattern here.
That’s the truth.
Good morning Treepers
Good morning Joe. This is similar to the one hanging above our sofa in my childhood living room.
Good afternoon, JWoo. It must be a beautiful painting.
Morning, Joe. She’s magnificent! What bravery it took to set out to sea long ago.
I love this hymn so much. It reaches right down into my soul. Thank you.
The captains of these ships were brave to the point of being downright dangerous. There are accounts of ships like this racing under full sails ahead of approaching full force gales—the captains and crews betting on the superior speed of their clipper to outrun the storm. Wow.
Wooden ships and iron men.
William Henry Danna Two Years Before The Mast. Read when I was about 13 or so . . . Although I was a rural Oklahoma kid, I knew where the “main tops were” 🙂
I never did read anything written by Dana. Herman Melville’s “White Jacket” was a good read. It’s good to start reading novels, non-fiction, anything that fires the imagination at a young age. Jack London’s novels were great.
It probably took that sort of man to get those ships where they were going. Willing to take risks, with a devil take the hind road approach.

I’m watching this classic movie (1962) now. I read the 3 novels the movie was based on when I was in elementary school. Charles Nordhoff and James Norman Hall were both pilots in the Lafeyette Escadrille during World War 1 before writing this novel.
When movies were worth watching. Did you ever see Master and Commander? I’m betting you have.
I have seen Master and Commander. That was an outstanding movie. The dvd is on a shelf with others I’ve kept. The HMS Surprise is docked at the San Diego Maritime Museum. I took a tour on that ship years ago.
Patrick O’Brian’s Aubry& Maturin series. Excellent historical fiction reading. You can follow Aubry’s adventures and career from start to finish.
Aubrey & Maturin Series by Patrick O’Brian (goodreads.com)
I read 2 of his novels years ago. They were interesting. More in depth look at Aubrey and Maturin.
Looks like a Baltimore Clipper, the fastest full-rigged sailing ships ever made.
“Getting a little crowded in here. We need another sand box, mom.”
I see it still has the cover on it😁
That may be a sifter screen, although I’ve never seen that particular style listed on Amazon or Chewy
Ahhh. Makes sense👍🏻
Final Appalachian Mountain clip…
Inevitably, commercial development is crowding the mountaineers out. The men are discussing their plight as land which was always open to them is now private and closed off.
“I want to go out (die) with this,” says one. “I don’t want it changed” and you can hear his heart break.
—90 seconds, cue’d to 42:20 – 43:48.
Around here the government kicked everyone off of the Appalachians. It was to stop progress.
Those kicked out of their homes by the TVA were for progress.
And I am not sure if getting kicked out of Oak Ridge was for progress or for destruction. Definitely a bit of both.
If I remember correctly, one poor family was forced out of the Smokies, then was kicked off of a farm by TVA, then was kicked out of Oak Ridge because of the war. But refinding that story eludes me this morning.
Mom always talked about my great grandmother.
She said ma was a great dancer.
When she got on the dance floor her feet would go flying!
Ma would win many hoedown contests.
Ma was a mother of 15 children. She delivered every child at home.
My grandma was the oldest daughter and helped her mom while she delivered.
Except for one set of twins every one was a single painful labor.
Grandma remembered one time her mom squeezed her hand so hard it hurt.
When grandma grew up and was married she only had 2 children.
She would laugh and say: She felt she already raised enough children.
George Patton.
During the great run across France in the summer and fall of 1944, Patton’s staff gave two briefings to the General every day. The morning briefing was at 09:00. During that great run the XIX Tactical Air Force was tasked with supporting the 3rd Army.
At one morning briefing an officer from the XIX was telling everyone that the air arm was having trouble getting supplies forward necessary to support the 3rd Army and how difficult it was to quickly build airfields to keep up with the fast advancing Army which at that time had 4 Corp attacking in 4 different directions.
Patton as usual was seated with his Chief of Staff next to him and then next was General Weyland, Commander of the XIX Tactical Air Force. As the Air Force officer was finishing his brief Paton leaned forward and looked at Weyland and said in a voice just loud enough for everyone to hear. “Opie, it would be a terrible thing if the Ground Forces should outrun the Air Forces, wouldn’t it?”
They heard no more from the Air Force about the difficulties in keeping up.
And that was a part of the genius of Patton that often goes unrecognized. He knew which buttons to push and just how and when to push them to get the most out of those under him. His staff loved him.
One of the best.
Superb! I served with his son in the 2nd AD and he was a mental midget in comparison.
Well said.
And this:
“His staff loved him.”
That applied to a lot of the men under his command as well.
When I was in the eighth grade I had a math teacher named Mr Zink. I was told by my best friend, a year older than me who had that class already, that if I ever had a day when I had not finished homework, and I needed more time, to ask Mr Zink about serving under General Patton. I was advised this with respect for Mr Zink, by the way.
That day came.
Mr Zink told us to take out our homework, I was not finished with it, and I immediately said “Mr Zink, a friend of mine said you served under General George Patton during WW2, is that true?”.
Mr Zink sat on the edge of his desk, with his right leg sort of swinging back and forth. And it was clear that he wore a prosthetic leg from just below the knee down.
He proceeded to talk about Patton, with great respect, for the rest of the class time, nearly an hour. He held the attention of everyone.
He was a good teacher, a nice man, and worthy of respect. He did his job well. He served his country and lost a leg in serving. I’ve no doubt he raised a good family. I’d like to talk to him today, but this was 1980 and there’s no way he’s still living.
Yes, I finished my homework that night. But the more import lessons that day came from Mr Zink talking about Patton and WW2.
Shortly after that, in a different class, a 15 year old student blew up on Mr Zink, slugged him, realized he messed up and took off running.
Mr Zink took off after him, CAUGHT him, one good leg and all, had him turned around, grabbed by the THROAT, with a fist drawn back…….and came back to the reality it was a kid. A really, really STUPID kid.
He let him go.
I would think the principal was informed of everything by Mr Zink himself. Nothing came of it to Mr. Zink, it would be wrong to have done anything against him.
I’m sure the kid got in a lot of trouble.
That was 43 years ago, and to this day I don’t know who was more scared, the kid…..or Mr Zink.
For a moment, best I could tell as I heard about it, Mr Zink was back in the war.
He was a good man.
His respect for and stories about Patton were educational.
Moving, Greg…how fortunate you were to be in his class.
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.

Mornin’ all!
Good morning, WeeWeed
Wow, Weeweed, just wow…
In all of my seven decades, occasionally I’ll think, “I’ve seen it all.”
NOT.
It is unbelievable that this balloon is still meandering around the U.S, while our military leaders teach proper pronouns, and our elected clowns debate whose idiotic idea is the best way to deal with it.
Sorry for rant.
In the meantime, folks, just move right along. Nothing to see here.
As intended….and under orders, Della.
It’s heart wrenching, B!
We’re at end of our lives, but it’s the grandkids that concerns me. All of the younger generations.
They don’t deserve this and what lies ahead.
This is what keeps me on my knees.
I can take whatever “they” want to shove on me – but not on the little ones.
Also, I had three uncles and a FIL who fought in WW2.
One uncle lost a kidney in the war, and another was a POW. They would roll over in their graves if they knew the condition of their once-great country.
😡😡😡
It’s unbearable to think ahead and what’s in store for them, Della.
And as stupid as this sounds, when I allow myself to go down that road and realize without an intervention from Almighty God, or the return of our Saviour, what they’ll be facing is tear inducing, I find myself shutting my eyes so tightly. As if that action will destroy what I know is planned.
It has started already with the destruction of people’s health and women’s fertility. Undoable.
And I find myself instinctively turning to Christ. Then I do have to keep saying Thy will be done. And understand that His will may include no intervention at all, letting all of this play out.
Perhaps this is part of His plan. But one thing for certain…when it is God’s time, we can not force it. When it is His time, we cannot stop it.
Faith and patience. We must at all costs cling to these.🙏🏻
Thanks for being the voice of reason here, Betsy.
Sometimes I lose my bearings – like today – whenever I focus on the buffoon and balloon.
Appreciate you much.🙏🏻
I could match you on any day, my dear friend. There are just some stories and realizations which when I see or realize them blow all my fuses all at once.
What I posted above to you is in fact good for me, because part of it is me talking to me. My spiritual therapy. And that’s the truth…
Don’t let anyone tell you that you are not a treasure, Della. Because you really really are😘
You are the epitome of kindness, Betsy.
To me, and many others here. Thank you!
Know what you’re talking about – I preach to myself a lot. Out of necessity.
One of the reasons I’m so angry with all the madness is being a baby boomer, we experienced what a great country this was. Now, it’s slipping away like water in our hand. And the little ones will never get to enjoy what we had. They have no idea, but we do.
But like you mentioned, it may well be God’s plan for them.
Everything is change, as it always has been. I keep telling myself this. And perhaps the merciful thing is that those who had no experiences such as we had have no references for that sort of world, and therefore won’t miss what they never had. I keep telling my self that as well.
Still it does break my heart.
And the only comfort in this changing world is knowing we are only passing through to our eternal home with a loving and merciful God who changeth not.
…and yes, I am not only answering you, I am talking to myself. 🙏🏻💕
By Jove I believe you have pegged the meme for this balloon story, Miss Della!
“The Balloon and the Buffoon”
That is memorable and will stick in everyone’s mind for a long time….
Haha – it is funny, right?
But no, WeeWeed’s cartoon has it labeled at the bottom:
Buffoon with Balloon.
I saw it there!
PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

As I have often said here, the decade of the 1930s was a period of the most extreme weather anyone alive today experienced.
The 1936 Winter Olympics were held in Germany. But they had no snow until the last minute. It was the first Olympic games in which Alpine skiing became an event, combining the results of the slalom and down hill events.
No Snow At The 1936 Winter Olympics | Real Climate Science
Right after The Great Depression of 1929, as if the time needed to be harder. My father was born on Black Tuesday. We and our children have no idea what pain is.
The banks took half my grandfather’s hard earned money. I heard all about the suffering and poverty my ancestors experienced. The following generations have no idea what our forefathers & mothers went through.
Have you dropped any more cat stories? I always enjoy reading them. Hope you are doing ok.
Oh my goodness!!!! I’d forgotten about this one! In the same vein …Greyfriar’s Bobby. I loved them both, and have actually been in Greyfriar’s Kirk and seen the beautiful statue. An experience I’ll never forget.
Here is the trailer…
As for today’s generation having no idea about what our ancestors went (or rather were put) through, I have a feeling we are about to have a few real life lessons.
Very much as we will come to understand the circumstances which Solzhenitsyn and his countrymen and women endured. His books were instructive. Too bad they have never been required reading in what passes for schools these days.
I have seen the original and remake. There was a farmer in Rhodesia whose dog would not abandon him after Lord Robert Mugabe’s sister decided she wanted his farm under UK/US/UN installed “democracy” and murdered him so she can grab it. The dog would not abandon his body. Ian Smith who never left, attended the funeral and it drew as much attention as it could to the truth about what the Globalists really did to that prosperous little Christian country
I worry we all could be Terry Ford, my father almost was many times
Cheers friend Bet
That’s a story I remember. And it was both heartbreaking and rage inducing.
“Lord” Mugabe. I want to throw up.
The great depression came in stages. The 3rd stage I believe was the failure of banks. And that is when those that had some accumulated wealth became destitute.
Ty brother, i’m not a fan of banks and Goldman Sachs in particular.
Colkitto, they found $20K in my grandfather’s walls in Southern Indiana. He had dementia and forgot it was there. Only after he passed in 1987, was that stash found… but my father mentioned as a boy that his mother always came up with what was needed. A lesson for us all.
No more cat stories lately. Took some doing getting over Dan the Man. He was perfection and the loss of him was really just more about the loss of something perfect in our lives and his great beauty, then the loss of just a house cat.
We have two more boys left; Danny’s brother, Timmy a DSH blonde, and Harold (or Herald) the Maine Coon romeo. He’s a German Shepherd trapped in a cat’s body. Loves to play catch and would make an excellent soccer goalie. They don’t have special affection for one another and I would guess they would as soon smother each other in their sleep then lay down their WWF living room bouts.
These fellow turkey friends of ours with all their kittah musings drive me insane to adopt adopt ADOPT! I am abstaining, though in my heart would love another kittah or pup. Tim hates dogs, though, so we avoid civil war.
Did you succumb? Did you adopt some precious fur children, or have you maintained your strength? Full report needed.
No ma’am. I promise my friends here will be the first to know. I am trying to get some things in order and doing some vacations I had put off. I am anxiously awaiting my Soul Graph.
Regards friend. (see I got you to tell us more which I so enjoy reading)
I figured out how to post pictures thanks to Magic Wand. The fur turkeys are posted above for a smile.
Is his instructions on this page somewhere? (Cool that you found the stash)
No we do not. Big fat exclamation mark!
Oy, I hope I didn’t offend you. There is an excellent movie called “Cinderella Man” where Russell Crowe plays a boxing legend, James J. Braddock. So good to see what he went through in those times. Maybe I’ve been preparing my daughter for this all along, but we often watch movies based upon true stories to see how others held to their faith through trying times. We can do this… through God Who strengthens us. (Preaching that as much to myself as I am to others.)
BTW, the Winter Olympics of 1932 was held at Lake Placid, NY and they had to truck in snow.
Happy “cartoons and cereal day” everyone.
have a blessed saturday…
I prayed for Levi last night. Wherever he he, I know God has him.
Wind chill at the Mount Washington weather observatory in NH this morning was about -106 deg. F.
Current conditions:
Mount Washington Observatory | Current Summit Conditions | Mount Washington Observatory
A balmy -106 F…..
Oh my giddy aunt!!!!!!!!!!
It probably won’t be much better on the face of Wildcat mountain facing Mt. Washington. Mt. Washington causes a burble and that cold air comes blowing down there when the wind comes from the right direction. I know this because I have been there and done that.
We were to be extracted by STABO by a Huey, but the wind was so strong and rough the chopper couldn’t even get close to us.
What is STABO? Well here is a video of a method similar to the way we did it. However we only had 4 at a time under the bird and used four ropes to do it because of the added weight of our rucksacks which were also hooked into the rope. The harness from the rucksacks we used at the time was designed so you could pull two pins and release the ruck from the harness and that harness could then be used as a STABO harness. The ruck would be hooked to the rope by tying a figure 8 knot to make a loop so the ruck could be hooked in with a carabiner. Of course in an emergency you don’t bother with the ruck but just leave it behind and save your own precious ass. It is a fun ride!
This article as a live view from the Observatory.

Some may think those Meteorologists up there can stay in their nice cozy station. That is sometimes not the case. Severe weather like this causes ice buildup that can clog or mask the instruments outside and they have to go out and clear the ice no matter what the wind or weather is at the time.
They could send out Nimbus the Cat? Nimbus is the current weather observatory feline mascot. There is always a cat in residency.
I must say I did wonder about that.
When you send your text message to the wrong number…
“Hey Dr Park, this is Matt from the vascular lab. I have an outpatient here with an external iliac occlusion with cold foot pain and numbness that started 3 days ago. What should I do with her?
“Hi, this is Hannah. I think you have the wrong number, but I googled it and I’m pretty sure u need to put a stent in her left radial artery. Best of luck Matt.”
“Sorry, wrong number, Hannah. She ended up actually getting a stent. Took about 3 hours longer for trained medical professionals to figure out what took you 3 minutes, great job.”
“Sooooo, y’all hiring?”
Hahahahaha!
SNAGGED for spreading around purposes!
A wonderful synonym for “stolen”, Greg. I’ll have to remember that one.
Here is another. And as with the one above, borrowed😉…
“Someone just posted they had some synonym buns.
I replied, you mean just like the ones grammar used to make?
Now I’m blocked.”
😁
That is a good one!!!!
There are just some people whose minds work that way. I am all admiration😍
Beautiful scenery. Allot of farms in my area use these dogs Great Pyrenees to guard their goats/sheep/chickens etc from predators like Coyotes, Foxes etc. I read where one took on a pack of Coyotes itself. Most times I see 2 or more together.
I thought it was a decent movie.
Once…and once only, we boarded our beloved Jack Russell Penny, with a ken so situated half way up a mountain in Wales. It was a large farming type property. We were met at the gate by the owner and 4 of these beautiful dogs. And they are beautiful.
Passing on this film as another of your wonderful recommendations. Blessings to you, my friend. I hope your weekend is filled with nothing but activities of the relaxing variety😉
I had just read a story of one that was forgotten by its sheepherder because it was pregnant. Here’s the video story. Ty I drop the movie/book recommendations hoping some will enjoy it. Usually I know its you and your family at the very least. best to you and of course go with God. Cheers friend

Many times did I help my grandmother raise lost nestlings (many Robins) and other animals like dogs, cats, squirrels, turtles, insects, and people. Best to everyone.
So lovely, Colkitto…and good morning.
No wonder you have such a love of His feathered creations. What an amazing woman your grandmother was. I’m sure you miss her greatly💕
I have a beautiful portrait of her in my dining room and pictures everywhere of her. She was the most incredible person I have ever meet. I was her favorite, as she was mine. She never let anything stop her.
My favorite first cousin adored her as well (she commissioned the portraits). Said she was her muse to succeed (she graduated with honors from university, has a successful career, married a very nice CEO, and raised 3 children who are all good kids). She went through so many adversities and overcame them all, and was the most genuine Christian. Her Church loved her as she loved them, as she loved her family, church, people, and animals. My dogs & cats as well
What a wonderful tribute to her, Colkitto. I can feel the love for her in every word you wrote. And I say to you honestly, I wish I’d known her. That you and she had an extra special bond? I can feel that as well.💕
Yes we did and ty.
Hi Colkitto,
Thanks for your post! Sounds like you’ve been super blessed to be surrounded by nature, birds, and animals all your life, with your grandmother showing you the way. 🙂
The coolest bird rescue I ever saw was when a neighbor kid down the street took in a stray baby Cedar Waxwing, nursed and kept the bird in a shoe box for a nest until it was well enough to fly, and then let it go. She named the bird Dusty. I was lucky to be able to visit Dusty. My friend had some experience with birds since her family normally kept exotic finches as pets.
Love it! I worked at a bird rehab for college internship
My wife would consider that a dream assignment…..
I just wanted to thank everyone on this beautiful thread for all the wonderful stories, prayers, blessings, and support you all have shown me and each other. I also noticed the support I have received on other threads from the wonderful people from here. It is deeply appreciated.
Still debating on either dog or cat(s)??
Yes ma’am. I promise you and the fine people on the OT will be the first to know.
CTH is a support network by itself…. in many ways.
So much needed and so appreciated.
Loved your AMC stories. I may have told you some of my family is from Baltimore, though we lost touch with them after my great aunt died. My cousin had a very well known business and knew allot of politicians & such there. Unfortunately he died. He was heading to the Major Leagues eventually with his beloved Orioles but had an accident which destroyed his dream. My great aunt knew Mencken in her younger days. Allot of this branch were in South Africa/Rhodesia. I fondly think of them when you talk about it.
Regards sir
Thanks! If I may ask, do you know the name of your deceased cousin’s business?
You are a treasure yourself, Colkitto. And a blessing to this site. I can’t imagine it without you🤗
Your to kind. My friend who has taught me so much. I will always be grateful. Cheers
More people are rapidly leaving crime-ridden, high-cost cities like New York, San Francisco and Chicago – NaturalNews.com
I’m seeing heavier traffic in my town, compared to what it was like years ago. Lots of people here are from California.
Shootings, violent crime in Oklahoma City on a daily basis. Glad I don’t live there.
For entertainment purposes only; an astrologer looks at the Pfizer statement they released, created because there is a day, a time and a place for when Pfizer made there statement after the Project Veritas’ first video. Kind of interesting:
8 min 41 sec in length:
John Campbell does an excellent second vide on the Pfizer statement, it covers the second half of their statement, which really is quite eye-opening information if people were to get past the initial reactions of both the Project Veritas’ videos and what the partial statement that the press is only covering. it’s that second part of their statement that has the meat of the matter:
18 minutes:
What are the first 3 English words illegal aliens learn when arriving in the U.S.?
“Welcome, Wal-Mart shoppers.”
First remember hearing this on the Doctor Demento radio show! 🙂
I thought it was hilarious when I heard it the first time. The video’s a laugh riot, too.
Stopping and deporting them is real environmental protection and that is according to the “science” which I know very well.
…As previously suggested, both Baron and Garin generally regarded civic humanism as an equivalent to or as a particular variant of republicanism, meaning a conception of politics in which government is in principle the common business of the citizens. The “city” provides the environment—a public space—for human fulfillment. More specifically, they appear to believe that civic humanism derives from classical republicanism of some variety ascribed to Aristotle, Cicero, and Polybius among others (although knowledge of Book VI of the latter’s Histories before the beginning of the sixteenth century is disputed [Nederman 2016]). Civic humanism is linked in principle to a classical educational program that goes beyond the formative capacity of participatory citizenship itself and involves the conscious revival of ancient ideals. Republican candor, simplicity of manner, opposition to ostentation, luxury and lucre, are common, though not universal, republican themes. Civic humanists, it is said, promote republican ideals responding to the fragility of the republic and the need to provide against its corruption and decay with the passage of time.
According to Baron, numerous civic humanist theorists emphasized that the republic requires widespread civic virtue, i.e., the active engagement of citizens united by a concern for the common good. The virtues of citizenship are in turn developed and enhanced by being exercised in upholding republican political and legal institutions and making them work by being involved in their operation. Republican life is then thought to be formative of the public spirit on which it rests. Republican freedom depends on constant civic activity. The polity is taken to cohere by means of the common acceptance of standards of justice that are more than procedural rules. The purpose of the commonwealth is the realization of human potentiality, encouraging the flowering of all forms of creativity and ingenuity insofar as they contribute to public welfare. The republic is the necessary medium of self-realization, not merely the condition of possibility of private endeavors. There is a link furthermore between the freedom of the citizen and the independence of the republic. Citizen armies and the right to bear arms are therefore common postulates of republican theory. Adherents to the “Baron thesis” use all of these confluences of civic humanism and republicanism to support their contention that the two positions are inseparable…
https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/humanism-civic/
I’m beginning to wonder if civic humanism has a roadmap that is going to be used against the Deep State. The constriction of civic thought presented by the “gaming/entertainment” industry is causing many to look for “more”. If you are one who values an interesting conversation as a social virtue, you know what I mean. You can only talk about your house, golf, and your vacation so many times…
I don’t know about a road map from civic humanism.
But I’m absolutely positive Almighty God has one. And I’m also positive He will choose who He works through, even evil ones…and they’ll never realize it.
Ha! LA Times Claim that the World Can “quickly phase out all fossil fuels”
LA Times Claim that the World Can “quickly phase out all fossil fuels” is Completely Incompetent | Watts Up With That?
YOU and all your employees first!
Only EVs for everyone and everything connected to the paper in any way. That includes deliveries of EVERYTHING to the paper, including the food for the cafeteria, none of which can have been produced, processed, or transported with anything using fossil fuels. And includes all deliveries made by the Paper.
And no flying anywhere an electric powered aircraft or airship cannot take you.
All heat and energy must come from “green” renewable sources and that includes not using nuclear power since your paper has a long history of fear mongering concerning nuc plants.
Now get with it Times. You say it can be done quickly and easily, so get with it! Put up or shut up!
The LA Times is a rag.
Is this why US officials are now in Angola? Along with Russian and Chinese. Which has beaucoup times a million reserves of fossil fuels? Hmmmmm.
That’s why they ethnically cleansed the Portuguese from there.
Yes! And a yellow rag at that….
With more than a hint of red, GB.👍🏻
Assume you mean red as in Red Chinese, as opposed to conservative/MAGA-red..
I do indeed. In Britain, Labour is red, and the “Conservatives” (as were busy are no longer) are blue.

This is a great thread which I visit sporadically. Tonight, I want to report that I couldn’t access CTH for an hour or so and I can’t upvote posts here, which may go away if this comment is posted.
Stella’s Place used to be a fail safe for this site for info. I couldn’t get to the site. Has Stella shut down her beautiful site?
Lastly, I don’t want to use Youtube. Is there another way to access Neil Oliver’s podcasts?
God bless you gentle Treepers.
I had an issue, as did others. It was, thankfully, short lived.
We had a 522 error (timing out) occurring shortly before 6 pm this evening. Messaged SD….site was back up in 20 min. 😉
