Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Hello Fellow Treepers!
Here is a silhouette sunrise from two days ago in Northeast Ohio. Wishing you all a cozy winter weekend!
Stunningly beautiful, thank you again for sharing these.
You’re most welcome, Guy-Blanc Déploré, wishing you a wonderful day!
And suddenly I’m hearing this work by Carl Nielsen, Danish composer. His Helios Overture. I’d like think he was inspired by watching a sunrise just like this one in your stunning photograph, phoenix. Simply glorious.
This is so beautiful. Good morning, Betsy. Blessings.
Good morning, my friend. May all his blessings rest with you and your daughter as well 😘
A fitting musical accompaniment indeed, Betsy jones! Thanks for adding to this sunrise experience!
Most welcome, phoenix. Impossible to add to the perfection of your photograph, but I thought it could tag along, so to speak.
Likely because it’s not really the perfection of the photo but the perfection of the sunrise the Lord provided. But He likes to see His children try! 🙂
As is said, beauty really is in the eye of the beholder💕
Good morning, Phoenix. I love your love for the atmosphere. We watch the skies for His Triumphant Return and we always have hope. I wake very early in Central IN and one of my favorite things is to listen to the birds greet the sunrise. It is the perfect way to begin a day, with them using their little trumpets to announce the forthcoming sun.
Good morning, JWoo!
Bird watching, star gazing, looking up with hope to see beauty! Thank you for your inspirational words!
A very big deal you are sharing your art with us. Thank you. Deeply appreciate.
Phoenix’s art is recognizing and faithfully capturing the Lord’s art.
Very kind of you to say, GB Bari! Wishing you a great day!
You too Phoenix.
“It’s like the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn’t want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad has happened? But in the end, it’s only a passing thing this shadow, even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it’ll shine out the clearer. I know now folks in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going because they were holding on to something. That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it’s worth fighting for.”

What an amazing song to pair with this picture, Spicy. Nicely done. Never heard this song before… it is so deep.
I’m not sure I can listen to it too long… might start thinking and reminiscing.
I can’t allow myself to think past this moment. These present moments require a lot of energy.
I did write in my journal entry to the Lord, our Father, this morning:
“I think often of the gifts You bring to bless and inspire people. Groups like MercyMe who bring on the power ballads to worship You and to lift You (and us) up in our perspectives. How do you inspire the composers to write the sunrise, or play down the sunset?”
Treepers, we know there are so many others besides MercyMe I referenced. Our family loves eclectic forms of music, so the great composers are included. (MercyMe was just on my mind from a recent event with my daughter.) I’ve often wanted to slip into the minds of these people as they are being led by The Spirit to write and how these magnificent works are developed.
The Carl Nielson Helios Overture for the sunrise, then Spicy’s “Comin’ Back To Me”. Oh that I could just research and listen and write and pray… all day long. That would be my greatest joy. It’s amazing to hear a soundtrack to life and that song can perfectly express the emotion of the moment.
You are all such fine people. I am blessed to share your thoughts and posts. Happy Saturday everyone.
God Rules.
God given and inspired gifts, JWoo, no matter the genre. Something that I’ve pondered as well. I think particularly of JS Bach, whose every work was dedicated to the Glory of the Almighty. Every single one.
Bach Mass in B Minor
You have so much knowledge of the greats. Thank you for sharing and teaching.
Good morning Bet, JWoo, and Patience! It’s always a treat to read all y’all’s posts. ❤️😘
Good afternoon, my friend.
I decided this morning to do something useful. So went through our burgeoning files and debrided them. What a job!
Anything with an address of account numbers went straight into the water. We soaked them to nothing, wrung them out until they looked like wet baseballs, then trashed them. It was a job I’ve been dreading and so procrastinated until I could procrastinate no longer.
So job done, more to do, but the worst is over…now a well deserved coffee, music, my Kindle. Bliss😘
And JS Bach reached through time and space to communicate with one of his descendants, who was my best friend, Heidi Bach was her maiden name. To send the message of God’s love to her through his music. Sometimes the timing of hearing a song on the radio is so perfect that it can’t be just coincidence.
How fascinating!!! With 20 children to his credit, there have to be thousands upon thousands of his progeny’s progeny.
And oh how I agree with you on hearing music unexpectedly. I’m not a believer in coincidences, my friend. I wonder if she was musical…
There was a popular radio programme in the UK called Desert Island Discs. An hour of the compere speaking with a notable person of the day…politician, academic, businessman, people who had made an impact from whatever walk of life they came from.
The idea was that the interviewee was stuck on a desert island and could take one book and a selection of music with him or her.
It was an hour of conversation about their lives, interspersed with their musical choices; and it was extremely interesting to find out what they would be. Their choices told much about them, as did their book selections. A very calming way to spend an hour, which went by too quickly. Very popular as you might imagine.
Were I stuck on a desert Island with a choice of one composer’s music for company, it would be Bach. I’d never tire of it.
Betsy jones,
No, Heidi wasn’t musical … her brother had that talent. Heidi was an artist, so gifted a painter that as a college student she was treated like a celebrity and given preferential treatment. She even had a glitzy job all lined up in an art gallery or museum in Germany before she even graduated. But God had other plans in mind … her salvation. So instead of graduating and starting her career, she was struck down with an illness in a conversion experience that she compared to St. Paul’s. So that ended her plans for moving to the art world in Germany … and brought her to the foot of the Cross of Christ. And with all the struggles she faced due to illness, at the top of her prayer list was “Pray for my salvation!” You may see me post a tribute to her soon … she died on January 9th, 2012.
As an added trivia factoid, Heidi was related to Richard Bach who wrote “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” … for which book Heidi apologized … she found the book to be too new-age.
If we’re sticking to composers for music, the first one that comes to my mind is Handel. But I don’t have a wide knowledge of classical music really. Of course after getting to know Heidi, Bach has become special and I would love to meet him in Heaven.
What would you pick as a book selection?
The Bible.
But if I could sneak another in unseen, any of PG Wodehouse’s masterpieces. He as a prolific writer. If I need to laugh, his are the ones I go to immediately. He remains the absolute Master of the Metaphor.
Love MercyMe! 🙂
Have you seen the movie? “I Can Only Imagine” I love the true stories of how prolific people came to be. True perseverance pursuing God’s beautiful Purpose and leaning on Him through unspeakable tribulations… for the hope that waits on the other side. The redemption story in the movie. Forgiveness. Powerful. The gift Amy Grant gave Bart Mallard. Very highly recommend.
We saw him and MercyMe in your neck of the woods, I think? Dayton, OH with Chris Tomlin. Tomlin went first on stage and led the most amazing worship time, I’ve ever experienced. He’s legendary too.
Have not seen the movie, but “I Can Only Imagine” is a great song. 🙂
❣️😺&🐶
Agree that this is an atmospherically excellent song to go with the a cat by the window …
Love this song.
Saw Marty Balin a few years back at a tiny venue (Art Gallery in NE FL) and he sang this one. As beautiful as ever.
Perfection . . .
Garrison, thanks for the Leonore. One of my favorites.
Bernstein is often as much fun to watch as to listen to. Here’s an old recording of a young Krystian Zimerman with Bernstein and the Vienna Philharmonic. It’s cued to a point in the music where Bernstein gets quite animated, as he also does a few minutes from the end.. Meanwhile Zimerman is so cool that butter would not melt (especially noticeable at 41:20 ff). What a combinatiion!
I only had one year of piano lessons. My dear and intelligent teacher taught me some of the very rare composer’s pieces: Bach, ahead of all. Beethoven piano works and concerts. Charles Marie Widor in organ.
She told me that some composers are not well played by women — these lack force, energy.
Mozart Piano Concerto No. 20 in d, K. 466, is an exception (that confirms a rule).
Compare Valentina Lisitsa plays Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata mvt. 3 @
With Wilhelm Kempff plays Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata mvt. 3 @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqSulR9Fymg
Feel the differences.

Here is force and energy.
Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A Minor. She write this when she was a teenager.
Here’s a classic. Smash hit back in 1968.
I would hear it on the radio when I rode the school bus to a junior high school I attended. Incredible finger picking on an acoustic guitar.
Someone once referred to him as the “Lord of the Strings”.
I’d forgotten about him! I really liked this one back in the day….and hahaha, very clever name!
🙂
Bernstein was as enjoyable to watch as he was to listen to. He really did feel the music he was conducting; he often seemed to go to another place. Especially did it seem so when he was conducting Mahler.
Good morning, Garrison. You’ll know Beethoven wrote 3 Leonore Overtures, each one as lovely as the one before it. Thank you for posting this one. There was no conductor like Lennie.
Mornin’ Bet. I’ve always liked the Leonores, although for this time I was self indulgent and picked the version I liked best. . . 🙂
As we all do. Some just speak to us in different ways. It makes the world more interesting.
Good morning, Garrison and thank you for the Bernstein. I am enjoying the daily playlist on the Tree to start my morning and encourage me on my paperwork chores for the day.
Mornin’ JWoo. Get to work! 🙂
My first contact with classical music was on Fantasia of Walt Disney Productions (1940). I have been marked by the Pastoral that was an adaptation of the 6th Symphony of Beethoven. Leopold Stokowski conducted the Philadelphia Orchestra.
My 1st 33rpm disk (offered by one dear aunt) was the 6th Symphony.
Stokowski was a legend, no question about it, me me.
I didn’t hear a symphony “all the way through” until I worked at a campus radio station. i remember sitting in the darkened studio, earphones on, and hearing a splendid recording of Beethoven’s 6th (think it was Bernstein). Perhaps it was having a little maturity, perhaps having a little education but I definitely understood what I had been missing.
Morning Garrison!
Happy Caterday, Treepers . . . :=_

I don’t consider myself Ukrainian, but my grandmother was born in Kiev, as was her mother. However, they spoke Russian, not Ukrainian.
I feel weird calling it “Kyiv” because she never called it that. I also don’t support the attempt to basically ban the Russian language in Ukraine.
Wait til they banish English in America, you think it’s a joke?

Intimate With Jesus
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip?” —John 14:9
These words were not spoken as a rebuke, nor even with surprise; Jesus was encouraging Philip to draw closer. Yet the last person we get intimate with is Jesus. Before Pentecost the disciples knew Jesus as the One who gave them power to conquer demons and to bring about a revival (see Luke 10:18-20). It was a wonderful intimacy, but there was a much closer intimacy to come: “…I have called you friends…” (John 15:15). True friendship is rare on earth. It means identifying with someone in thought, heart, and spirit. The whole experience of life is designed to enable us to enter into this closest relationship with Jesus Christ. We receive His blessings and know His Word, but do we really know Him?
Jesus said, “It is to your advantage that I go away…” (John 16:7). He left that relationship to lead them even closer. It is a joy to Jesus when a disciple takes time to walk more intimately with Him. The bearing of fruit is always shown in Scripture to be the visible result of an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ (see John 15:1-4).
Once we get intimate with Jesus we are never lonely and we never lack for understanding or compassion. We can continually pour out our hearts to Him without being perceived as overly emotional or pitiful. The Christian who is truly intimate with Jesus will never draw attention to himself but will only show the evidence of a life where Jesus is completely in control. This is the outcome of allowing Jesus to satisfy every area of life to its depth. The picture resulting from such a life is that of the strong, calm balance that our Lord gives to those who are intimate with Him.
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
We can understand the attributes of God in other ways, but we can only understand the Father’s heart in the Cross of Christ.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

✟
“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”
John 15:16 (KJV)
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered!!!
Thank you for these of Dvorak’s, Michael. He has always been one of my favourites. Always.
Prokofiev had such a gift. I was introduced to him by a young Turkish pianist when she was in residence with our neighbours, her host being the head of the music department at Texas Tech decades ago. His 5th Symphony written in 1944 “filled his soul” he said. It did mine as well. His Romeo and Julie the score is achingly beautiful.
Couperin is always a delight, especially this one. Good choices all. Wonderful.
As an afterthought, here is Prokofiev’s score for the ballet Romeo and Juliette. Ricardo Muti and the only good thing to come out of Chicago… their Symphony Orchestra.

NPR Attacks Rush Limbaugh and Salem Radio in Seven-Minute Hit Piece on ‘Right-Wing Radio’ | Newsbusters
The very fact they are still ragging on him makes it clear just how much of an impact Rush had. I don’t believe the man credited with saving AM Radio and who’s format and influence brought forth so many others that tried to copy what he was doing ever was interviewed by NPR. And of course no personality on NPR has ever been even in the same ballpark in the number of listeners.
If it wasn’t propped up by taxpayer $$$ NPR would have gone off the air a long time ago.
Yep, it’s welfare for the not so poor.
I really don’t think it would be extremely difficult to turn this country to God again but there is no desire from top down.
As long as they crave power and money, there is no room left for God. It would mean transforming themselves into the spirit of humility…a requirement to love and serve God.

How well these marry with WP’s devotional this morning, Poyeema.
Up late last night watching the votes, I was reminded of the summer of 2020 when I was up late every night watching the nightly demonstrations and riots live streamed by citizen journalists, and restreamers who performed the tasks of producers, monitoring multiple streams and putting up the best ones for their viewers. Every night they chanted the same chants, one of which was “This is what democracy looks like.”
Aaaaaach. Nope. Shattered windows, burned businesses, projectiles and bags of urine hurled at police and anyone who objected. THAT was a mob. THAT was what a mob looked like.
THIS was what democracy looks like. All week. Grinding it out. Occasional temper flares subdued by those near them. Whether you agree with the outcome, THIS was what democracy looks like.
It also brought up another memory, so I send a greeting to fellow followers of one of my favorite restreamers: HONG, Honorable Membahs.
For am I now seeking the approval of man or of God? – Galatians 1:10
It feels pretty good when someone appreciates the work you do and praises you for doing a good job. And it feels fantastic when someone’s eyes light up and they smile and are glad to see you. While it can be sweet to be encouraged by people, believers also need to be careful.
Jesus warns that if the world hated Him, they would surely hate His followers.
Paul followed today’s verse with “If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
How do you walk that line between being encouraged when someone praises you and caring too much about what others think? Dr. Phil’s humorous take is, “You wouldn’t worry so much about what other people thought about you if you knew how seldom they did.”
It is great to receive encouragement, especially when carrying out God’s will for your life, but what God thinks of you is more important. As children of God, you can bask in His love, acceptance, and forgiveness. He favors you because you belong to Christ and He appreciates the person He created you to be.
Receive compliments gratefully and be encouraged, while keeping in mind that pleasing God is what really matters.
Encourage others, too, for the things they do. Pray for citizens and government officials to care more about their reputation with God than how they look in front of others.
Public image can be crucial to a politician. Pray that God will put people in office who care more about pleasing Him than pleasing people.

Good afternoon, Joe🤗…I loved Charlie Daniels. I have a beautiful morning prayer that he offered, on my phone.

Good afternoon, Bet. We’re doing ok. Getting colder and overcast outside. Hope you are well.
Doing fine, thank you. Except for desperately needing some rain, temps are moderate for the moment, though I expect, as rah reported a while back, some of what experienced in December will return…phooey…

Looks like a great place to visit during the winter season (New Orleans, French Quarter). I haven’t been there yet.
Forthcoming from GabbyPress. March 1, 2023
Reclaiming the American Democratic Impulse
Working class and middle class American citizens know that something has gone terribly wrong in the American society. They know that the U. S. government is not working on their behalf.
Citizens have many unanswered questions about what is wrong, and not very clear ideas on how to fix the problems.
Citizens want to know:
· Why and how did 5 million people enter our country illegally?
· How did prized natural gas that had granted America’s wishes of energy self-sufficiency, reduced pollution, and inexpensive electricity become almost overnight a pariah fuel whose extraction was a war against nature?
· Which lawmakers, which laws, which votes of the people declared natural gas development and pipelines near criminal?
· Since when did Americans create a government Ministry of Truth? When did we assume the FBI had the right to subvert the campaign of a candidate it disliked?
· When did the nation abruptly decide that theft is not a crime, assault not a felony?
The root of the problems is that the centralized power of the Federal government became unthethered from the democratic consent of the governed.
The agencies of government, and the agents of government, have become an independent power on their own, and citizens have no political mechanism to regain democratic authority over the government.
We explain the history of how the centralized power of government originated in Madison’s flawed constitution.
Our solution for the problems is more democracy, not less. In other words we offer the strategy of Reclaiming the American Democratic Impulse.
And this looks like a great way to see New Orleans. I would love to be on the upper deck with a cigar and a glass of Southern Comfort….36.jpg (669×446) (tacdn.com)
