Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

✝️ DAILY DEVOTIONAL, January 2, 2023
Amen!
Wow. That “hit the spot”. 🤟✝️🤟
Good morning, Dan. My Mondays are brighter and grounded when I read Spurgeon. And this of his is perfect for the first one of the new year.
I’ll leave this moving hymn which seems to go perfectly with it.
Bee-you-tee-ful!
Soul soothing!💕
🤗
“All people desire to leave a lasting mark,” said Ratzinger in that April 2005 homily. “But what endures?… The only thing that lasts forever is the human soul, the human person created by God for eternity.”
From a truly remarkable thought provoking article at The Spectator. A beautifully written piece on the state of the world’s aimless wandering in today’s wilderness, which I felt I needed to share with all here.
https://spectator.org/reversing-the-dictatorship-of-relativism-remembering-benedict-xvi/
Excellent article, Betsy – thank you so much for posting the link!
Author Kengor really put his finger directly on the spiritual symptoms of our society – the abandonment of traditionally, historically proven absolute truths that were our God-given “gyroscope”, keeping all humanity who observed and respected those truths, as stable as possible.
Pope Benedict XVI reportedly received a message that caused him to resign; some speculated it was a threat, others say it was far more reaching and deep. Only he and God know.
In the meantime, there are many of us in the branches here who still hold to those traditions and truths. I don’t care how ferocious the winds of moral relativism become, I’m not budging.
I was riveted by it, GB.
They said it was for “health reasons”. He was 95 when he died. Yes, I agree that it was something else.
I read this article, then I bookmarked it, because I want to go back and linger over it.
There is something that happened all of a sudden, I think, that caused all we are seeing now spreading and necrotizing the fabric of our civilized society. It has been fast as well.
I can t dismiss that we might…I say might…be hurtling towards end times, though there have plenty of events past when I’m sure others have said the same.
The difference is that never, do I believe, was there the spiritual rot and desecration we are seeing now…with the exception of Sodom and Gomorrah.
I am so glad you found it as interesting as I did, my friend. I’ll stand firmly with you.
(I think I missed you on January first…Happy New Year, GB. wishing you and your wife continued good health and the peace which only He can give.😘
Yes, we Could be experiencing the rapid deterioration of mankind just before the Tribulation. But I’m hoping to be Raptured out of here the instant before that hammer falls. I know for sure you will be.
Thank you for your New Year blessing, Betsy. The very same to you..
Good morning dear Bet! Nothing like Spurgeon to get us focused.
❤️😍
Afternoon, G😘. I’m only now getting back to the start of our church thread.
We were promised rain today…about 10 drops so far. Does that qualify?? Desperate for it. Please, please, please🙏 .
Hoping you all are crisis free and getting a slow, easy start into another year. Before you know it we will all be wondering where it went! 😁
Just yesterday I was wondering the same thing about 2022.
Truth!!
Just yesterday was wondering the same thing about 2022.
Moderator, would you delete the same comment? Misspelled my email.
I’m so glad I’m not alone in doing that!!😁

Sherry was under the weather yesterday and went back to bed. When I went in to check on her, Geisha the Cocker and Gabby the cat were cuddled up beside her on the bed. They knew Momma wasn’t feeling well.
Even though Sherry wasn’t up to eating them, I had to get those steaks grilled. That was the only thing that lured Geisha away from her station beside Momma. But once she had her few bites of steak from the one I ate, she wanted back up on the bed. She and Gabby are still there now as I write this.
I think Sherry has gotten a bug that has been going around. It knocked my friend Randy down hard for two days a week ago. Sherry got her flu shot but that doesn’t mean much really.
Praying for Sherry to feel better, Rah. As a Mom, I immediately go to the vitamins… orange juice and in my case carrot juice. Something about the carrot revitalizes me. And the usual, homemade chicken based soup for that good marrow broth. If it’s respiratory… it’s a trip to our favorite Chinese for the spicy mustard on egg rolls and egg drop or hot and sour soup. The pungent mustard clears my sinuses pretty quickly. Blessings that she feels better fast.
Good morning JWoo, sometimes a jalapeño helps when you can’t get the mustard. 😁
Just picked up some today, GrandpaM. Always keep them on hand and also make a mean Escubeche! I lived 8 years in San Antonio and picked up all I could of the local secrets. For really sick days, I make a mean Caldo de Pollo.
When was that, if I may ask? We’ve been in the area since 1993. Stopped having to go to San Antonio all the time when I retired a year and a few days ago.
At bed time, a bowl of chicken soup with Aspirin make wonders.
After all, one has to have priorities.
Do I hang with Mom who is feeling poorly… or do I go with Dad and retrieve some steak?
Hmmmm….
Choices, choices….
Hope Sherry will get well soon!
Thank you all. Still down and still in bed, but I’m hopeful she is past the worst of it.
Morning rah, prayers up 🙏🏻.
There are dozens of “bug” infections for millennia. If you call “virus” a bug, there are simple things to do. Test if you have fever (38oC or more). Virus are smart forms of life and use our body to live and reproduce:
An aching throat, a runny nose, pain in the muscles which have to do more “work” (myalgia), loss of appetite, cough to expel dead lung cells…
All will be OK in 4-5 days with water, Vitamin C (1-2 grams a day) and being at home.
Some people will need oral aminophylline (bronchodilators won’t reach bronchi by puffs)
Learn from the elders.
Happy New Year Ya’ll 🙂
Drift wood sitting in a snow drift …

Wonderful Picture , Jay !
🇺🇸😁🇺🇸
When I see a picture like that, I don’t think of sitting. I think of skiing!
I was thinking that there should’ve been a snowmobile parked next to it😁😁
Good morning Jay 1776 and Happy New Year. Love the bench. Something we might have seen along Puget Sound in brighter days. Haven’t lived there for 15 years and I’m this day and age, not sorry to have left. We can pray for their Saving for sure.
I love the puget sound area for all things except the mental illness that possesses A good majority of the population. I am fortunate to have a good base of friends who are conservative and Christian as I am🇺🇸🙏🏻🇺🇸

Nice one … My grandparents had a statue of St. Francis on their lawn. 🙂
Francis runs through my family, both sides. My patron Saint. I have a St Francis fountain that I had to take down after I put in my Koi pond with waterfall. There is a excellent movie called ‘Francis of Assisi’ which I saw on Roku.
Francis is a patron Saint that seems to suit you! And if you’ve never read it, may I recommend a book called “God’s Fool – The Life and Times of Francis of Assisi” by Julien Green.
Ty phoenix, I appreciate your recommendation and need to book list that and the other book about the takeover of the Catholic Church that another treeper recommended on the Benedict thread from the other day. St Francis is very important to me. My regards and gratitude
You’re very welcome! The title of the book may seem a little strange, but when you read the tales of St. Francis and his followers, it’s so heartwarming and memorable! A blend of mysticism and mercy, comedy and compassion, touching moments, all woven up in the love of God. I could give you some spoilers but that might ruin some of the best parts.
I’ve told this sad tale before…
We had a lovely pond in our Welsh garden. A friend was getting rid of his and he generously gave us his Koi, which thrived beautifully, even through the winters.
I came home one day to see a massive heron. In short, we enjoyed having them while they lasted. The End.
Apparently, the heron wasn’t coy.
Bold as you like…a return customer to chez Jones. Tried a type of scarecrow…didn’t work. I really was very upset about it. But that is nature I’m afraid.
And then there was the time my mother, an avid fisherwoman, visited me while I was living in an apartment featuring a pond stocked with fish. She saw a Great Blue Heron, chased him away, stood in his spot, and caught the fish that would have been the heron’s meal … Yes, that is nature.
Whether this side of the pond or the other, t’is true.
Morning Bet,
Whenever there is talk of Wales I always think of you!
The article is a bit dated and I worry if Disney does do it, they will ruin it. IMO they are highly recommended for young readers perhaps 5th or 6th grade and up? There is even a giant cat that comes into the tales and is a friend/mount for one of the companions.
Disney Plans The Chronicles of Prydain Movie
https://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/667703-chronicles-of-prydain-movie
I dread to think what a satanic Disney today would do to this, Colkitto. In the right hands this could be wonderful. Welsh folklore is magical.
But Disney has shown itself to be anything other than what we thought it was (but wasn’t). A finished product by them will be infected with the insidious, corrupting “diversity, inclusion” we see today. It would turn delightfully entertaining books into perverse ugliness.
And that would be a shame.
I am passing these on to my devoted grand-readers. Thank you, my friend.
We all want your Mom on our Hunger Games team. LOL
Don’t laugh, JWoo … Mom’s a fan of the Hunger Games …
My friend solved his predator problem by using wire fencing over his pond.
Good idea, Judith. We’d never been visited by one before. And as we didn’t restock, we never saw him again…A feathered opportunist if ever was one.
Who trusted God was love indeed
And love Creation’s final law
Tho’ Nature, red in tooth and claw
With ravine, shriek’d against his creed
I know this one, Dave. But it has been years since I read it. And I thank you for posting it. Poetry written in those times was…well…poetic. And powerful. The beauty of language can be overwhelming. Somehow in modern “poetry”, I never see it…Tennyson had the gift.
I posted his Ring Out, Wild Bells at Christmas. It is impossible for me to describe my feelings on reading it.
https://thebookden.blogspot.com/2006/12/christmas-poetry-from-tennyson.html
Happened to me at another pond I had except the fish hide. I’ll tell you the interesting side of the story sometime. Comes along with the Vitalism angle which I am a believer in. The Fish are much smarter and aware than Mechanized science says.
Oh my……these words have painted a mental picture that no photo could make any more beautiful.
I still believe we truly do not know the depths of God’s creations, or all that they are capable of. The miracle of all life, great and small. Nothing can explain the amazing things and interactions I have witnessed in animals and birds. Perhaps we are not meant to see but glimpses.
Man is indeed very arrogant if he thinks he has the answers for everything.
Alexander Key was a very underrated author and illustrator. He worked in Naval Intelligence during WWII and was an officer. Judging from his writings, I believe he learned things while in Naval Intell that were not supposed to be made public. Thus his writings. Highly recommend his books for young readers.
“We have all lost contact with that great natural world beyond our doors. In fact, we are so far out of step with it, so destructive and uncaring, that we seem like insensitive invaders from another planet” Alexander Key
I’d not heard of him. I wonder what he’d say if he were around, about the utter bald face lie of that worn out slogan “Save the Planet”, when it is the complete inverse of it.
From this beautiful quote of his, I suspect it would be something eloquent and shaming.
“In short, we enjoyed having them while they lasted. The End.”
That’s what the heron said!!!
Bad Greg….
Good morning, my friend. First smile of a new week.
The Louisiana Waterthrush is a uncommon breeder in the forest were I grew up. They nest along stream banks, which the forest had a few, stretching between two large lakes. This species likes to walk around looking for insects in and along streams. They have a very loud and distinctive song and I always wanted to see one of their nests without disturbing them, which is a tough thing to do so I usually never bothered. I got lucky one year while crossing a bridge over their stream habitat heard their call waited and saw a parent go right under a Tulip Poplar tree which was growing along the stream bed and whose roots had partially become exposed, the nest was hidden amongst the roots and I could see it with my binocs without leaving the bridge.
Louisiana Waterthrush Sounds
https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Louisiana_Waterthrush/sounds
You’ve definitely got a lot of patience and a keen eye to scope out bird nests Colkitto … especially for something like a Waterthrush nest!
What a lovely lad, your waterthrush. There is such a thrill, isn’t there, in unexpectedly and suddenly seeing something in nature you didn’t ever see coming.
A feeling indescribable.
I dropped you a present here. Your the best Bet!
Everything you post is a gift for me, my friend. Everything…😘
Hope this goes through…a photo in our Welsh garden of our beloved peacock, Joey, as promised yesterday.
Ok…dead end. Unable to post from our computer picture files…have the photo but it won’t link into my comment….so sorry😬
I would have loved to have seen it. No worries, when it is time you will be able too. Cheers
And that was my knows everything about computer husband. Has built them, worked with them all his adult life…
At any rate, this peacock and his mate arrived in the dead of winter and settled on cobbles at the top of our long and wide garden.
We saw him of course, with his magnificent colours. But as my husband walked toward him, she suddenly rose seemingly out of nowhere, like an unseen apparition. It shocked the life out of him.
We felt they came from a nearby farm which belonged to a local butcher. He had so many! It must have gotten too crowded for them, and they looked for more agreeable accommodation.
I didn’t realize peacocks moult 2-3 times a year…so when the time came we’d find his feathers strewn hither and yon. He was a beauty all right. Huge span on him when he decided to preen. Which is was often😉
Howdy Garrison!
Late to the party tonight, Gramps. Be well, friend 🙂

😎
Finally here . . . Be well, darlin. 🙂
Another pearl of wisdom and advice which I learned from my Welsh friends…
“Taste your words before you spit them out.”
Thank you for the memory, WP.
“His grace-filled words to her: ‘Neither do I condemn thee’ …”
So beautiful and overwhelms my heart whenever I hear these Words of His.
I love the story about whoever is without sin should cast first stone.
Several years ago I thought of finding a stone from the yard and writing FIRST on it, and keeping it in daily view.
I’m going to do that this week! (need visual reminder)
I want to be a “grace-giver” to others the way the Lord gives me His Grace, twenty-four seven, 365 days a year.
This is to be my 2023 focus.
Thank you, WP
Is it coincidental those words to her were running through my head all day yesterday? I wonder…
Wonder no more, Betsy! NOTHING with the Lord is “coincidental!”
Happens to me, too.
Yesterday while on a walk, I was seeking God’s help on a matter.
ONE hour later, I tuned into Pastor’s message – lo, and behold, he was talking about the same issue I’m struggling with.
It gets my attention, every time.
An identical situation I’m finding more and more here on this prayerful thread, Della. Today 3 times. I wonder less and less. And I am actually of the same mind…no coincidences…none🙏😘
Yes, He “goes before us” to lead us in His way. So thankful.
And thankful for you, Betsy. You’re a mess! (a sweet one.🥰)
Hahaha!!! My son refers to his daughter, our youngest granddaughter, as a hot mess😁 …
Strong genes in our family💕
You are too funny! (umm, thought it would more polite to use word sweet instead of hot for you, Betsy!)😜
Truth will out😉😘
Thank you WP. I look forward each day to the daily Bible Lesson that you post. God Bless You for leading us each day with these Scriptures.
Appreciate it Marti.
May God bless you with a good year 🙏
This song can be a good reminder about who we love and why it’s so important to keep them close by….so we can all remain Strong.

I was listening to Live365 which is people who make their own radio stations and someone was playing some 60’s garage rock. I caught a song by Spirit called “Cosmic Smile”. Ty for the reminder
Spirit- Cosmic Smile
Randy California (not his real name.. it was given to him when he played with Jimi Hendrix as there were two band members named Randy so Hendrix dubbed him “Randy Calfornia” so he could distinguish them apart. Probably his best work is displayed on the Spirit album, the twelve dreams of Dr. Sardonicus. Take a listen and you will hear riffs that were copied and used by others later on.
SPIRIT – 12 DREAMS OF DR . SARDONICUS – FULL ALBUM – U .S. UNDERGROUND – 1970 – YouTube
The excellent “Love Will Keep Us Together” was used in a relatvely recent popular movie, sparking renewed interest in that gem of a song. I cannot remember what movie it was, but it was in the ending credits. Made me remember what a great catchy pop tune it really was. TY MW
I hope it was the Cap & T version.
I keep hearing old songs on the radio that have been covered by someone who can’t sing worth a darn, even with auto tune. SMH
Good morning guys! Some thoughts…
For the last 3 months, God has been pushing me into the thought process of finding ‘Joy in Jesus’! With all the doom and gloom, war, economic crisis, climate catastrophe news that bombards us multiple times daily, He is saying to me…find your peace and joy in Me! He reminds me of the early church…their persecutions…and how they stood firm in their salvation…even when their children were being killed in front of them. What did they have that I need today? I have discovered myself lacking!
I have gotten to the point, emotionally and spiritually, that I can only read headlines. A part of me wants to stay with current events so that I and my family are not blindsided by an unexpected event. (You know, don’t be scared, be prepared.) The other part, wants to crawl up under the wing of our Almighty God and shelter there until the storm is over. I can do that, but something tells me this may be our last Storm and this will be my make or break moment in my testimony when I stand before the Throne of God. (Think of Stephen…when they were stoning him to death, the Light of God shone from his face so that those around him wondered and were amazed.) Can I be that close to God?
We talk of being patriots…for our country! Many alternative news sites are wondering why no one is fighting for Truth…where are the Patrick Henry’s? In my humble opinion, I believe that it’s not just ‘country’ at stake here. It’s a spiritual battle that has culminated to the point that THIS is the real battle between God and satan for the perpetual soul of the human race and the only way to fight is on my knees. Yes, we need Christian journalists that understand the cost and the boundaries to keep the news current and keep writing their articles…but the final Commander knows every position point and will teach me/us how to pray!!! We need to bring back and revive the art of PRAYER! We need our War Room! We need to be Patriots for God ~ first!!!
Finding ‘Joy in Jesus’…the Rock of my salvation…is my journey for 2023. I want to learn how to have Peace and Joy in the midst of the battle. I encourage and invite each of you to join me. I hope to be posting more here on my small branch than I have in the past, with a daily thought that might encourage someone for that day!
Peace and Blessings to each of YOU! Remember, in Revelations, His name is Faithful and True!
Your servant, Stevie
LOVE this, Stevie, and thank you!
Eagerly awaiting … for you are spot-on here.
My first thought while reading your post:
“… when two or more of the companions discover that they have in common some insight or interest or even taste which the others do not share and which, till that moment, each believed to be his own unique treasure (or burden). The typical expression of opening Friendship would be something like, “What? You too? I thought I was the only one.” CS Lewis
🤗 Yes Yes! When God does the networking…it’s so totally amazing! PS: Love CS Lewis!
! 🥰 🙏🏻
One of my favourite Lewis quotes, Della. You can sense his amazement…and joy in finding he wasn’t alone.
I know, Betsy! It’s encouraging when we discover others who are like-minded!
A burden or joy shared – simple life pleasures.
This is exactly why I find such inspiration and comfort here. Are we drawn together in our section of God’s tapestry. I believe we are.
Grace to you and yours juststevie. Thank you. ✝️
“…may be our last Storm…”
For a long time, I have felt increasingly that this may indeed be so. Equally, it becomes more difficult for me, as I know it is for others, to watch all the moral tenets falling like dead leaves from our tree of liberty, a clear and indisputable turning of faces from Almighty God of those we have entrusted with moral and godly leadership…in every institution which heretofore held our trust.
With each of his offerings on videos, in addresses, and in writings, Archbishop Vigano, God’s good servant, has outlined precisely the state and speed of the world’s descent…with, it seems to me, increasing urgency. His latest address implored those who listened to take heed. Now, he said, was the time to choose good over evil.
Rightly or wrongly, I hear God’s voice through him, as I’ve often said in posts. And like you, I stated elsewhere that I will start each day with joy in the certain knowledge that Jesus Christ is my Lord and my Saviour. I have chosen.
You were one of the reasons I started commenting here. I am glad to see you back on your branch, juststevie. All blessings to you on your journey, one you will find that many of us here are on as well. God, please be with us.
~Bet
💕🙏
Dear Betsy! The J6 situation has been my biggest fear, anxiety, with tears of frustration. How in the world can America be home to a gulag…where American citizens are arrested, tortured in all various ways, no defense allowed, no court dates given, along with solitary confinement and no contact with family and no hope in sight of any reprieve! My country has given up its God given rights, has pushed Him out and slammed the door! Yes we must take heed of any voice out there that uplifts the principles of God and Heaven’s commandments. I am afraid…
The “J6 situation” was created to instill fear and control. Don’t give them their wish. Hold to your faith and the *courage* of your convictions.
I know you saw my prayer for them yesterday. I would say I think of them daily but try not to, it is so upsetting.
But then I say to myself, these men and women are in a living hell…and I’m saying ‘it’s too upsetting for me to ‘think’ about??
Julie Kelly, God bless her, has never flinched, in documenting their plight, a plight we thought happened in other countries, but never in the United States (I will not say “in America” which is completely different from the despotic, cruel, soulless sadists alive, well, and running this country).
But it is happening. And no one with the power to do so is calling out the Stalinists for the unendurable torture inflicted. We have laws against this, and yet “judges” ignore them. I wept copious tears over Christmas because of these people, and their families as well.
Not to be flippant, but as Dorothy said, “We aren’t in Kansas anymore.” I really don’t know where we are anymore…except that I am a stranger in the land of my birth.
CS Lewis said “…there comes a time when we say to God, ‘I can’t do this. You must.'”
I have been repeating this often. I find myself saying it not realizing I’m saying it. A constant prayer, and the only one I can think of when remembering our political prisoners and their families. Not only their unlawful continued imprisonment, but others as well…too numerous to list here but especially our littlest, our gifts from God.
So I say, I chose joy. But, like you, a woman of incredible faith who has chosen it as well, I know I shall have to look for it through the dark forest of what I know, and that won’t be easy. You are wise to see it as not a short term effort.
Through our Saviour, Jesus Christ, Almighty God, and the Holy Spirit. That’s the path to eternal joy. On the Holy Trinity I will pray, knowing His purposes are at work for everyone. His will is at work. His thoughts and timing not ours.
I say also, “You must do this. I can’t. “And have faith it will be so.
Thank you for enduring in this post my many thoughts which you have inspired with your beautiful post, juststevie…and the lovely hymn you posted with it.💕🙏
Our hearts are blended in this, my sister…glorious will be the day when Joy cometh in the morning 🙏
Possibly the most hopeful, reassuring sentence in the Bible. Keeping it front and centre in my journey.😘🙏
Wonderfully stated. It is a balancing act! God bless you! 💕🙏
Yes…as have I, Flyover.
Totally agree Flyover! A real revival is needed, but first repentance…
Amen!!
Truth. I believe IF we go to God and ask Him: “please start with ME,”
revival will break out.
Not my brother, not my sister, not my neighbor, but ME, O Lord. Standing in the need of forgiveness.
🙏 Amen.

It is a good morning; thank you. 💖

Hope you have a lovely day, Pa❣️❣️❣️
Gearing up to get with this program. I have not fasted in many years, it is time, and time to focus on the J6 victims
Blessings juststevie! Praying with you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻.
It is more than a hope, it is a promise made by the Creator. 2 Chronicles 7:14
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
The words of the Creator are not “time bound” – they remain eternal. The “my people” includes the personal and individual and extends to Nations, to Creation itself. It literally is in OUR hands. Everybody does as much as they can and pretty soon God willing, we’re talking about the Complete redemption. Of course the biggie there is the word “IF”.
Beautifully said! 🤗🙏

Rah, thanks for the seriously early warning about the last big storm.
The -22 wind chills over here on the edge of Eastern Kentucky were un-fun.
The early warning helped.
Please post any more warnings such as that. It was WAAAAaaaay ahead of anything else I saw!
Your welcome and I will. But my sources are doing long range forecasting and thus are not always correct. Joe is as good as they get, but he, ans thus I, was wrong about the intensity of the last years hurricane season, as was virtually everyone else. But unlike others, Joe was spot on in his forecasts about the areas which would be most at risk of a strike and those that would not see a tropical storm come ashore.
We have been in a 16 day cycle between warm and cold periods so far. But about the end of next week the cold will be gradually moving in again and all indications are it will be here to stay for much longer than 16 days and in general for most of us the rest of the winter will be consistently colder and snowier than we have seen for some time.
The snow extent in the N. Hemisphere is still above the average. This means cold lasting longer and penetrating further south.
All of the teleconnections and weather oscillations are pointing that way and the Madden Julian oscillation is forecasted to go into cold phase territory also.
This does not rule out another so called “bomb cyclone” but at this time there are no indications one is coming in again.
I have to laugh at the news. Lake Meade drying out was a disaster. Now Lake Meade filling up is a disaster also.
Here is what Joe is saying now:

Will You Go Out Without Knowing?
He went out, not knowing where he was going. —Hebrews 11:8
Have you ever “gone out” in this way? If so, there is no logical answer possible when anyone asks you what you are doing. One of the most difficult questions to answer in Christian work is, “What do you expect to do?” You don’t know what you are going to do. The only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing. Continually examine your attitude toward God to see if you are willing to “go out” in every area of your life, trusting in God entirely. It is this attitude that keeps you in constant wonder, because you don’t know what God is going to do next. Each morning as you wake, there is a new opportunity to “go out,” building your confidence in God. “…do not worry about your life…nor about the body…” (Luke 12:22). In other words, don’t worry about the things that concerned you before you did “go out.”
Have you been asking God what He is going to do? He will never tell you. God does not tell you what He is going to do— He reveals to you who He is. Do you believe in a miracle-working God, and will you “go out” in complete surrender to Him until you are not surprised one iota by anything He does?
Believe God is always the God you know Him to be when you are nearest to Him. Then think how unnecessary and disrespectful worry is! Let the attitude of your life be a continual willingness to “go out” in dependence upon God, and your life will have a sacred and inexpressible charm about it that is very satisfying to Jesus. You must learn to “go out” through your convictions, creeds, or experiences until you come to the point in your faith where there is nothing between yourself and God.
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
Jesus Christ can afford to be misunderstood; we cannot. Our weakness lies in always wanting to vindicate ourselves.

Hey mods, I’ve got a post on severe weather that is awaiting approval for some reason.
Aha.
The epiphany moment when you begin to glimpse the truth.
Nature’s laws teach a lesson which once learned cannot be forgotten.
An awareness and respect for the creation convicts us …. of not only the existence of a creator but of our part in creation.
Sundance reminds us of the farmer who cannot ignore nature’s laws.
Rural america is the last bastion of both the awareness of how life actually works and the need for morality.
Obama feared Bubba.
Gates and beach friends are trying to buy out Bubba.
The federal government actively suborns our few remaining independent farmers.
Jefferson warned that our liberties would be in danger when we became piled upon each other in cities like Europe.
Welcome to the rural rebellion. If you live in rural america you are the target.
“Why would I exchange one tyrant living a thousand miles away for a thousand tyrants living next door?” I tell you I would not exchange one free living independent in flyover country for a thousand programmed “useful” city lemmings anxious to scream at me to mask up and get vaxxed.
I was programmed for years …..((and you were too))….first by Madison Ave hucksters, (their stupid jingles still come unbidden to mind…plop, plop fizz, fizz.). Then I was programmed by public education, the military, the “news” and finally social media. The epiphany moment is when you realize there are programmers out there and they DO NOT have your well being as a goal.
I will fight back by asserting my independence first in my thoughts and most importantly in my morality. I will attempt to educate others to become aware of their programming and its devious intent. I will quietly resist any and all interference at all levels of my rugged independent lifestyle choices.
I am an American by birth and by thought and by deed, it is my individual right granted by my creator to be free.
Join in my friends in echoing a resounding, “Bring it.”

Very good commentary… 👍 ..I stand with you..

Thanks but it’s really just a synthesis of what Sundance has been speaking of.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

MORNING
Sing unto the Lord a new song. Isa. 42:10
Sing aloud unto God our strength; make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. Psa. 81:1, 2
He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Psa. 40:3
Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Josh. 1:9
The joy of the Lord is your strength. Neh. 8:10
Paul … thanked God, and took courage. Acts 28:15
Knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Rom. 13:11-14
EVENING
Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Psa. 141:2
Thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: … and thou shalt put it before the vail that is by the ark of the testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the testimony, where I will meet with thee. And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: . . . and when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations. Ex. 30:1, 6-8
[Jesus] is able to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Heb. 7:25
The smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand. Rev. 8:4
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. I Peter 2:5
Pray without ceasing. I Thess. 5:17

Just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak not to please man, but to please God who tests our hearts. – 1 Thessalonians 2:4
Have you ever imagined yourself taking that darkened stage and speaking for those golden 18 minutes called a TED Talk (or something similar)? While, for some, it is a happy dream and, for others, a nightmare, every follower of Christ has a beautiful testimony about the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ. A story meant to be told!
Your life path organically takes you across the paths of others being prepared to know you personally and witness to your relationship with God!
You can be certain EVERYONE you meet is on a spiritual quest, “And He made from one man every nation of mankind… that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward Him and find Him” (Acts 17:26-27). What you cannot tell from the outside is whether their voyage is moving away from or towards God. The only way to find out is to engage and, whether or not they already believe in Jesus, your response is the same.
You tell them what God has done in your life! Sharing your faith should be as natural as breathing, it is just telling your story, one you know best!
The Holy Spirit is able to take what you say and use it to enliven faith in the heart of another. Ask Him to use your words before you speak and watch Him open the conversation. God loves to work through His children.
Pray that God’s people in the United States, especially those serving in government, would adopt a renewed passion for engaging with colleagues, neighbors, family, and friends, carrying the Gospel of Christ to the halls of power and to every corner of America.

Rolling Stone “Top 200 Singers of All time” list………………..
Who is missing?
Celine
Dion
Pavarotti
Tony Bennett
Dean Martin
Rosemary Clooney
Barbra Washington
I could go on……………..
who is on the list but doesn’t deserve?
Any thoughts?
https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-lists/best-singers-all-time-1234642307/
At least a third of them I never heard of, which means they most likely rose to fame in the last 20 years of music.
Most of those probably use auto tune, heck they admit auto tune for #200.
Apples to Oranges comparison.
I know Axl Rose uses some form of voice tune as he uses 2 different mics onstage (before “auto tune”) for different parts of songs. Not that his voice was ever ….. great… but it fit the songs he wrote.
Susan Boyle is missing, not a style of music that I seek to listen to but she has a VOICE.
I don’t think Kevin Cronin was on the list either, A guy who nailed songs that were not his on that <game show to finish the lyrics to a song>
This list suffers from the same problems as other “all time” lists, the vote casters are heavily too young to remember much back time wise, so you get a over abundance of performers in this case that only they know from recent history.
Neither of the Everly brothers made it.
David Lynch that I posted above for the platters as well.
It’s the Rolling Stone mag. Always wrong, but arrogantly so.
One of the few good men….
Vice Admiral James Stockdale has a good claim to have been one of the most extraordinary Americans ever to have lived. On September 9th, 1965 he was shot down over North Vietnam and seized by a mob. Having broken a bone in his back ejecting from his plane he had his leg broken and his arm badly injured. He would spend the next seven years in Hoa Lo Prison, the infamous “Hanoi Hilton”. The physical brutality was unspeakable, and the mental torture never stopped. He would be kept in solitary confinement, in total darkness, for four years. He would be kept in heavy leg-irons for two years, on a starvation diet, deprived even of letters from home. Throughout it all, Stockdale was stoic. When told he would be paraded in front of foreign journalists, he slashed his own scalp with a razor and beat himself in the face with a wooden stool so that he would be unrecognisable and useless to the enemy’s press. When he discovered that his fellow prisoners were being tortured to death, he slashed his wrists to show his torturers that he would not submit to them. When his guards finally realised that he would die before cooperating, they relented. The torture of American prisoners ended, and the treatment of all American prisoners of war improved. After being released in 1973, Stockdale was awarded the Medal of Honour. He was one of the most decorated officers in US naval history, with 26 personal combat decorations, including four Silver Stars. Jim Collins, author of the influential study of US businesses, ‘Good to Great’, interviewed Stockdale during his research for the book. How had he found the courage to survive those long, dark years ?
“I never lost faith in the end of the story,” replied Stockdale.
“I never doubted not only that I would get out, but also that I would prevail in the end and turn the experience into the defining moment of my life, which in retrospect, I would not trade.”
Collins was silent for a few minutes. The two men walked along, Stockdale with a heavy limp, swinging a stiff leg that had never properly recovered from repeated torture. Finally, Collins went on to ask another question. Who didn’t make it out ?
“Oh, that’s easy,” replied Stockdale. “The optimists.”
Collins was confused.
“The optimists. Oh, they were the ones who said, ‘We’re going to be out by Christmas.’ And Christmas would come, and Christmas would go. Then they’d say, ‘We’re going to be out by Easter.’ And Easter would come, and Easter would go. And then Thanksgiving. And then it would be Christmas again. And they died of a broken heart.”
As the two men walked slowly onward, Stockdale turned to Collins.
“This is a very important lesson. You must never confuse faith that you will prevail in the end – which you can never afford to lose – with the discipline to confront the most brutal facts of your current reality, whatever they might be.”
As Collins’ book came to be published, this observation came to be known as the Stockdale Paradox. For Collins, it was exactly the same sort of behaviour displayed by those company founders who had led their businesses through thick and thin. The alternative was the average managers at also-ran companies that generated average returns at best, or which failed completely.
Regardless of the situation, there is always room for optimism, especially on the back of an open mind, a willingness to follow the road less travelled, and some rigorous analysis. Or as Lee Van Cleef’s character ‘Angel Eyes’ puts it, again in ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’:
“People with ropes around their necks don’t always hang.”
Thank you for sharing the wisdom in this heroism!
Excellent comment.
Thank you!!!
Isn’t that Ross Perot’s running mate? The guy who was mocked as clueless for introducing himself rhetorically? Who am I? Why am I here?
Now we have a President who truly is clueless and the same mockers never say anything.
Or forgotten that, Jim. It is. So our country’s loss was twice as bad.
Wonderful! Long days in, days out, for seven years. My poor mind is having great trouble imagining the torture of it.
A war we should have never been in. A hideous costly war in terms of lives which suffered, and those which were lost.
This country never learns lessons. But then it is those who will never suffer the consequences which they demand others make. And this is why they keep repeating the same mistakes.
Well, it’s been 51 weeks since I came here on Jan 9th of last year and posted about my dire situation which summarized was me being about to be evicted, with no job and less hope. Many of you had kind and helpful comments and offered to pray for me, which undoubtedly worked. A year later I’ve worked in the same job since last January 15th, gotten three raises with a promise for another this year, and made myself into a reliable employee they want to keep around. Not bad for a work from home remote job with a two minute commute from my coffee pot to the desk.
Anyway, I just wanted to stop in and say thank you again to those of you CTH’ers who prayed over my situation. It has improved dramatically since one year ago and while I still have a mountain of bills I’m working my way through I’ve been able to pay some of them off and there is now light at the end of the tunnel.
Thank you again.

Awesome news, Will! May God continue to bless you in this New Year! 🙂
Thank you very much, phoenix.
Thank God. I wondered how you were doing.
Thanks, Sepp. It was tough sledding before but better now.
Thank you for posting…………….good to hear and may the wind continue to be at your back.
Appreciate it, thank you.

Indeed it does, and I am very grateful. Thank you.
What splendid news, Will!!!! Prayer is so powerful.
And I must say to you with all honesty, you suddenly came to me in memory about two days ago. I remember you strongly, and was forcefully wondering how you were doing. This is amazing, and certainly no coincidence you should give us this brilliant t update. I am overjoyed for you, sir. God bless you always.🙏
Thank you Betsy for your kind words. You and other CTH’ers helped make it happen, I am convinced.
You are so welcome, my friend. I couldn’t be happier at this moment than I am for you. Prayers from us all are always at the ready for those who need them.
But first you had to post. What caused you to do so at your lowest point?

Liberalism is based on manipulating groups of victims. The more victims, the more power liberals take.
An honest look at liberal laws will find them victimizing people while demonizing their enemies to skirt blame and act like they are helping.
This looks like a microcosm of liberalism. Recommending actions that will increase the numbers of victims that one uses to gain power influence and money.
So they recommend the CLOTSHOT for people with a history of clotting.

Michael, thank you for sharing these thoughts. Matthew 7:1-6 was used against me by my sister-in-law a few years ago, perhaps rightly so, but I have always wondered. She tends toward self-righteousness and made the proclamation that she never hated anyone. I remembered her hateful words concerning her son’s girlfriend. I’d had enough of her superiority, so I reminded her of it. She shot back at me about the” beam” in my own eye. I am unperfect and should have remained quiet. So, I did.
My family had a Christmas gathering at my Mother’s Church last Saturday. I was unable to attend, but my sister called me that evening to report that there had been quite an uproar toward the end. Our niece, a teacher who is not a Christian announced to my brother that her fourteen-year-old daughter wished to be called Leo. (I had seen this coming since the child had been dressing boyishly.) My brother, a Christian man who has had enough of our niece’s attitude, spoke truth to her about the gender confusion being perpetrated in schools. She was offended (of course) and enlisted her mother (my sister) in attacking him verbally. Voices were raised, and small grandchildren watched wide-eyed at this adult performance. My 95-year-old Mother was left in tears…she has no understanding of these issues.
Families are being divided, which our Lord told us would happen. No one likes contention, but it is my opinion that my brother was right to speak truth to these lies. The Christian martyr, Dietrick Bonhoeffer said, “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to at.”
I would value your opinion of these two situations.
I too, think your brother was right to speak truth.
Thank you for responding.
Someone has to speak up, Christine. Silence is not an option any more, though the cost may be very dear.
Bonhoeffer said it best, as you write.
I posted something the other day about this issue by a man who said at the end that he wondered if this penchant for teens to declare a sex they are not wasn’t comparable to the 90s Goths. Done for shock value. There may be something to this.
But in the end the mental and physical health of this teen is at stake. And out of anybody’s control except the parents. What could be said was rightly said in my view. That’s all that could he done!
But I am so sorry the day disintegrated into tears and anger… for your mother, the children, for you all.
Amen
Amen.
Amen

Damar Hamlin is down in the Cincinnati/Buffalo Bills football game. Given oxygen. CPR. Ambulance is on the field. The ambulance did not rush him away immediately.
Apparently, after a small hit he collapsed on the field.
He was involved in a tackle, got up and did the yeah I’m awesome dance, and collapsed suddenly.
Can we have the talk about the “died suddenlies” yet? It’s 2 years overdue.
2. Years.
I have never seen anything like this. The ambulance should have whisked him away. It did not, and a lot of players were in tears.
EMS is more sophisticated than the “scoop and run” philosophy of years past. Stabilizing a victim is often more beneficial than a high speed race through traffic.
It seems the EMS had to put Damar back down on solid ground for CPR.
At this point, someone should be frantically finding a pastor to come down to the 50 yard line and lead the fans in prayer.
