I live in FL and am very tech savvy. I asked very specific questions vis the architecture and operations surrounding the polling place where I voted in St Johns County. The answers were pretty damn good; very indicative that the County applied some forethought to security.

He did some of the things Florida needed fixed for the 2022 elections, but, not all of them. Otherwise, the state would not have been so red at the 2022 polls. After all, when DeSantis won the governorship, his win was marginal at best. He eliminated quite a bit of the cheating.

I knew in that moment of his announcement at the Trump Tower, he would be president.
With what is getting exposed within DC, IC, elections, media, big tech— I have the very same sense as in 2016. Mr. Trump will be President in 2024. I don’t know the how, why, or what to expect- but it’s a journey we are required to take to save this Nation.
I believe the debates solidified Trump’s Presidency. As a side thought… remember when he graciously assisted when Ben Carson was slighted on stage. That spoke of Trump’s behavior towards competition. For DeSantis to run against PDJT displays an appalling degree of disloyalty and lack of gratitude.
PDJT endured unrelenting attack including from his own party. I don’t think the average person could withstand two days of what he endured for four years.
You can measure a person’s commitment by how high a price they are willing to pay to achieve something. PDJT has lost many millions since he came down that escalator.

That it appears RDS wants nothing to do with “waiting,” tells me he thinks he cannot “do this,” that is, build a campaign, without the GOP Establishment and that Establishment is at his door NOW. It tells me he isn’t sure of himself w/out them, not willing to take the challenge on without them.
He’s afraid that if he says, “No, I’d rather wait until the next Presidential cycle,” they will not only not back him, they will go after him should he run in 4 years. It seems likely they may have threatened with, “Either do it now or we will never look you way again.”
Most likely, as two things can both be true, is that Ron DeSantis doesn’t consider himself MAGA, that there must be principles of MAGA he’s not on board with or he’s perhaps just a person who wants to be President and ideology means little to nothing to him on that front.
Remember, Trump essentially laid out a beautiful field for him in Florida, opening the way for DeSantis to apply “common sense” policies in the state with plain speaking.
Adopting domestic policies that conservatives and even moderates agree with is not hard these days when the other party really is viewed as “bat sh_t crazy” on those issues.

This is certainly a likely outcome.
This is the nature of politics. Many presidents have run single and even repeated presidential races, which failed, before they ran the one that made them president. I think it is a lot to assume how DeSantis views things beyond the facts surrounding his financial support and the past acts of those supporting him. They actually do not need DeSantis to win. He just needs to split the ticket for them to prevent a Trump/MAGA win. DeSantis has a congressional record in which he has voted against MAGA policies multiple times. This predates Trump’s run for POTUS.
DeSantis has forged an ambitious political career for over a decade. He has a young family. Politics is an expensive game. He is not independently wealthy and depends heavily on contributions. He does not know whether he will have financial backing beyond the 2024 race. He just knows he has the GOPe donor backing now.

I watched the whole Tucker speech earlier this evening. He said he had been in Episcopalian until about two years ago. He said that the Episcopal Church is now run by pagans. I think Tucker has awoken Ed to the idea that the world is overcome with this evil. He may be a changed man, and if he was controlled opposition, I don’t think he is now.
Also interesting to me in this speech was he pretty much confessed to not being vaccinated and being one of the only ones in his profession that didn’t bow down to the mandate.

Trump would not be running unless he believes there is an electoral path forward. If there is not, we are indeed left only with the cartridge box.
What worries me is that he was fooled (badly) once. Who says he can’t be fooled again? I don’t see the electoral path forward when we can’t even win Arizona … with this economy, with illegals flooding the border, with the insane Covid policies of the democRATS, with all the evidence showing they cheated in 2020, with the Ukraine nonsense, and with everything else that has come out about them the past 2 years.

Floridian here. Voted for DeSantis in 2018, but not 2022.
In my book, his collusion with the Establishment at the national level negates any achievements he has made at the state level.
I’m relieved that DeSantis was re-elected Governor. He will continue to MAGA in Florida, if only to burnish his bonafides as a presidential contender. Works for me.. as long as he is never President.

Tucker works for Fox. He probably is forbidden by them to endorse Trump outright. Now if he endorsed DeSantis they would be very happy with him. But it sounds to me from other things he said that he wants to be morally correct rather than toe the line. He has a voice. If Fox fires him he will still have a voice if he’s moral but not looking to be fired just yet. IMO
I followed Lou Dobs to the podcast he started (very enjoyable) and if Tucker walks I will follow him to whatever outlet he decides to begin.

That being said, I have a jpeg / gif that I copied from an article in American Greatness about three or four weeks ago that displays the electoral map reality of current election rigging by Democrats. There is no way to get to 270 electoral votes within the current system.
Unfortunately, I have not figured out how to load that jpeg / gif to CTH comments. All I can say is that unless the five or six battleground states substantively change their voting laws, no Republican will win the presidency again–not Trump, not DeSantis, no one.

Governor DeSantis’ comments following the Jan. 6, 2021 election protests in the U.S. Capitol are particularly problematic. He refused to stand with the patriotic Stop the Steal protesters that day and applauded as the unconstitutional, overreaching federal probe that destroyed their rights.
“I actually am glad to see some of these people being arrested from the DC thing because I think the prosecutions will really make a difference,” he said shortly after the Jan. 6 protest. “I think it was a really unfortunate thing.”
Even more shamefully, DeSantis defended the Capitol Police jackboots who acted as Nancy Pelosi’s personal Gestapo. He has also allowed Capitol Police to come into Florida and set up illegal spying operations on patriots in his state without doing a thing to stop them.
Verdict: Mediocre governor but definitely not ready for prime time…

I’m pretty sure he lives in Florida now, at least part of the time. He is meant to said so in that speech. If he lives where I read he lives that hurricane Ian came pretty close.

Ian and Nicole cut wide swaths across the state. Thankfully, most of the state was not leveled like Sundance’s home area. But, many, many Floridians had damage that is not in the news. I lost fencing and many in my neighborhood lost much more fencing than I did. Somebody’s trampoline went flying around the neighborhood. A neighbor’s makeshift carport was destroyed. I am on the central Florida East coast. We barely experienced cat 1 winds. North of me in Volusia county, the flooding was dangerous and damaging.
I live in Florida also, on the Treasure Coast. During Ian a huge oak limb came down right next to my air conditioner outside and there were branches everywhere. During Nicole our beach was terribly eroded but I didn’t even hear the wind really. Never lost power during either one.
I do have friends that live on Little Gasparilla Island that had damage to their condo which is unlivable at the moment.

And more than that –
The scheme specifically involves a purposeful undermining of President Trump and MAGA.
There is nothing organic or grass roots about DeSantis running for president –
He is an establishment selection. Period.
As part of this, it is a calculated strategy that DeSantis is being interjected into every poll–
always positioned in “2nd place” –
as if he earned it–
And made to appear to be gaining very quickly on President Trump month to month.
I don’t buy it.
