Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

A Playlist of all my NCIS and JAG videos – hopefully, you can wander around it to pick and choose. Includes Christmas songs.
A Playlist of all my Due South videos. Same hope.
Well, daayyyam, Mary. You sure outdid yourself this time. Loved it!!! 🙂
I actually drove with a friend to Toronto to attend a Due South convention. Got Nigel Bennett and Deborah Duchene’s autographs!!!! I was so entranced with the show that I wrote a spec script for it between seasons 2 and 3.
https://www.iment.com/maida/tv/fk/prince-withhtml.htm
An agent I had turned down for my movie scripts called Parriott and arranged, with my agent’s permission, for him to read a spec script from me. I bought a bunch of scripts and used them as patterns to see what the show used as names, and what the range was for sections of a script. Then I wrote one that conformed exactly. My friend expressed the script on Tuesday and Parriott called him on Thursday. Unfortunately, they were looking for a Canadian writer. Sigh.
Tell them you identify as Canadian?
Well, in those days of rational governance, Canadians WERE perceived as sort of wonderful. I used to visit Quebec province whenever possible and felt deeply happy the whole times I was there. Later found out that I’m of Quebecois descent. Back in the “old days” when I ran some conferences, maybe half of the locations were pre-chosen, but I got to pick out two locations. I picked Montreal, just to go back, and New Orleans, so I could take the executive committee to dinner at Jonathan, my favorite art deco restaurant.

Good morning, Garrison🤗 I am unforgivably late to our church this morning…hoping you enjoy your breakfast visit this morning. Blessings, my friend.
Good morning, Mr jay💖 There are those who say God does not exist. I dare them to see this beautiful photo and actually doubt His existence. Imagine being the person who was able to capture the magnificence of His creation! Oh my…

Since there wasn’t an official Trump Rally this weekend and I was in the mood for one, here’s a kind of symbolic virtual mini-rally consisting of three songs, keeping in mind that this is the season of Advent and the greatest Hero we can look forward to is Christ.
Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler
Hold On, I’m Comin’ performed by Sam Moore and Isaac Hayes
We Need a Little Christmas performed by The New Christy Minstrels

She left the group to compete in the preliminaries of the Miss America pageant.
She won Miss America 1973.
Thanks Donna, I didn’t know that about Terry Anne, very cool! 🙂
Apparently, Kenny Rogers is also in this video.
Wonderful, phoenix!! Thank you…and Merry Christmas! 🌲💕
Wishing you a Happy Advent and a Merry Christmas too, Betsy jones! 🙂
Thank you so much😁🌲

Did not know that the “Rat Pack” put out albums 😃😊😎
Good morning Garrison! Have a blessed Sunday.
Suddenly I’m feeling very nostalgic for those times past, when music and lyrics such as Moonlight in Vermont where written. Very.💕
These late performances by Rosemary are absolutely ultimate cool. She really shows us how it’s done . . .

For Treepers looking for a great clean escape movie, family friendly as well this it. About the Mascot Bear for the Canadian Veterinary Corps in WWI “Winnie” who became the inspiration for the Winnie the Pooh books.
One of the rarest Warblers, Kirtland’s. I swear a saw one years ago in which if I had a camera it would have been big news because besides it rarity, was in a state that had only 3 previous sightings ever.
Very cool! 🙂 I also saw a Kirtland’s years ago. It was on Kelleys Island in the middle of Lake Erie on one of the nature trails there. Having a camera didn’t help me much because the warbler was quickly driven off by some Cedar Waxwings.
Ty The Phoenix for your personal observation, I always enjoy reading others adventures in the Bird/Nature world.
If I only had a camera also applied when I saw a male Golden-winged Warbler in a bare tree close to a male Blackburnian Warbler, both in their striking breeding plumage.
Have yet to see a Golden-winged … maybe this coming spring … At least you have the memory of seeing one! 🙂
Good Sunday morning, my friend.
Isn’t he beautiful! Never a camera when one needs. What a shame….
Our little Carolina wrens are hanging around still. I put out food for them so apparently they know they are welcome. The rest of our usuals have done a bunk…one male cardinal who drops in occasionally remains, but the usual noisome family of jays are nowhere to be seen.
Thank you for that movie recommendation. How, being an aficionado of British films, I have missed that one??
One you would enjoy I think which is little know is “Fairytale: A True Story”. It is easily found and an absolutely beautiful, well acted movie with actors you would certainly know (Peter O’Toole being only one). One I can recommend without hesitation for both adults and especially children.
I am, as always, so glad to see you here. All blessings to you, Colkitto.😘
Always great to see you here Bet!
I stumbled onto that movie on Roku (Pluto Tv) and really enjoyed it. You and your husband/family will enjoy it, the bear thinks its a human! It also has a good ending, not a sad one.
I also started watching the Legend of Ben Hall which is about him being a Bushranger in Australia. Good movie, I’m halfway through it as its over 2 hrs. The scenery is quite striking.
Ty for your recommendation I will put it on my Roku list.
Always glad to see you friend Bet. Prayers and best wishes to you, and your family (and Treehouse family)

We have Roku… I’m sure we’ve got Pluto. I’ll check it out…or rather have my man check it out.😉

The Law of Opposition
To him who overcomes… —Revelation 2:7
Life without war is impossible in the natural or the supernatural realm. It is a fact that there is a continuing struggle in the physical, mental, moral, and spiritual areas of life.
Health is the balance between the physical parts of my body and all the things and forces surrounding me. To maintain good health I must have sufficient internal strength to fight off the things that are external. Everything outside my physical life is designed to cause my death. The very elements that sustain me while I am alive work to decay and disintegrate my body once it is dead. If I have enough inner strength to fight, I help to produce the balance needed for health. The same is true of the mental life. If I want to maintain a strong and active mental life, I have to fight. This struggle produces the mental balance called thought.
Morally it is the same. Anything that does not strengthen me morally is the enemy of virtue within me. Whether I overcome, thereby producing virtue, depends on the level of moral excellence in my life. But we must fight to be moral. Morality does not happen by accident; moral virtue is acquired.
And spiritually it is also the same. Jesus said, “In the world you will have tribulation…” (John 16:33). This means that anything which is not spiritual leads to my downfall. Jesus went on to say, “…but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” I must learn to fight against and overcome the things that come against me, and in that way produce the balance of holiness. Then it becomes a delight to meet opposition.
Holiness is the balance between my nature and the law of God as expressed in Jesus Christ.
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
We can understand the attributes of God in other ways, but we can only understand the Father’s heart in the Cross of Christ.

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah…from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from old, from ancient days. – Micah 5:2
“When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken” (Deuteronomy 18:22).
Micah was a prophet at the time of Ahaz and an influencer of King Hezekiah. He suffered when Nebuchadnezzar wreaked havoc in Jerusalem, and yet his words in today’s verse gave hope for the future. It was God’s announcement through Micah that the Messiah would come. Seven hundred years later, God used ordinary events arranged supernaturally to fulfill His purpose for the lost sinners of this world.
Isaiah would verify that a child would be born, signifying His humanity, and a Son would be given, signifying His deity (Isaiah 9:6). The apostle John would record that this Savior existed from the ancient days: “In the beginning was the Word [Jesus Christ], and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). This Messiah appeared to Moses in the burning bush, and was the fourth man in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Jesus came in the flesh to suffer the punishment for the sins of all humanity. He is the Savior for all who believe.
As the nation of Israel experienced the result of disobedience to God at the time of Micah, the people were fearful. But Micah’s words brought them hope. You can take hope from his message as well! One day Christ will return to rule as King of kings and Lord of lords. His peace is available to you now as you follow Micah’s instructions to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God (Micah 5:5; 6:8). Pray that the leaders of this nation will do the same.

MORNING
Where shall wisdom be found? Job 28:12
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. James 1:5, 6
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Prov. 3:5, 6
The only wise God. I Tim. 1:17
Be not wise in thine own eyes. Prov. 3:7
Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. Jer. 1:6-8
Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. John 16:23, 24
All things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. Matt. 21:22
EVENING
I would not live alway. Job 7:16
And I said, O that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest. Psa. 55:6, 8
In this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven. For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life. II Cor. 5:2, 4
Having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better. Phil. 1:23
Let us run with patience the race that is set before us. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who, for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Heb. 12:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27

I should conclude teaching through Lamentations today. Next week, we dive into Jeremiah.
The last four verses of Lamentations Chapter 5 gives me great hope and discouragement:
19 But you, O Lord, reign forever;
your throne endures to all generations.
20 Why do you forget us forever,
why do you forsake us for so many days?
21 Restore us to yourself, O Lord, that we may be restored!
Renew our days as of old—
22 unless you have utterly rejected us,
and you remain exceedingly angry with us.
The great prophet Jeremiah finds himself where I often find myself, alternating almost instantly between the greatness of God and his mercy and God’s absolute need to judge the sins of man. Praise and dread do not mix well. We must come to those moments of great dread of what we deserve against completely accepting that God’s sovereign grace is indeed a great and joyous and undeserved gift. These dissonant thoughts battle throughout life, and really only end when we step into eternity where the dread ends forever.
A battle I think of and am personally, spiritually
engaged in constantly, Vibeman, especially as I am praying.
In the end, I must always end my prayers with “Thy will be done” and leave it to Him, Who both loves us and chastises (condemns?) us for our drift away from His Word into the terrible sinful act of turning our country’s face in the opposite grotesque direction. While His gift of grace remains, and is not withdrawn, I continue to pray that a great awakening occurs, hoping His seemingly unending patience with an errant flock allows us to heartily repent and return to our Father of all mercies.
Have a blessed Sunday all.
Most 0f mine will be spent on the road heading up to Des Moine, IA. Take a break there then have three stops heading back east. Have to take the trailer to Vandalia and even if I make it there before running out of hours, I almost certainly will not have the hours to come home from there without another break.

The coyotes here are scary…they have a tactic…one will approach you and try and play with your leashed dog…the rest of the pack is hiding waiting to attack.
Always be skeptical if you see a lone coyote or ‘coy-dog’. I carry some mace for them if they get aggressive.

Article by Jon Bloom
When it comes to resisting temptations to sin, there’s no one-size-fits-all strategy. Temptations arrive in many ways at many times, and the Bible gives many different strategies to defeat them.
But we can notice one fundamental similarity in all the temptations we face, a dimension that’s always present in satanic deception. Remembering this similarity will help us in the fight, whatever resistance strategy we implement.
To help us see this unifying theme in temptation, let’s examine history’s most remarkable example — the devil’s temptation of Jesus. This scene illustrates Satan’s core strategy, how Jesus kept his head clear, and how we can imitate Jesus’s example.
Anatomy of Temptation
Matthew, Mark, and Luke all record Jesus being tempted by the devil at the beginning of his ministry, but Matthew’s account provides the most details. He describes three specific temptations and Jesus’s response to each (Matthew 4:1–11).
Theologians down through history have pointed out that there’s a lot going in this particular temptation from historical and theological standpoints, but I’m not going to address those topics here. Instead, my goal is simply to identify a specific dimension common in all of Satan’s temptations.
Dialogue with the Devil
To begin, after Jesus fasts for forty days, the devil seeks to take advantage of his physical weakness and severe hunger.
Then, from the pinnacle of the temple, the devil seeks to take advantage of Jesus’s faith in a scriptural promise.
Finally, after showing Jesus “all the kingdoms of the world and their glory” (verse 8), the devil seeks to take advantage of Jesus’s promised exaltation.
Three Essential Elements
Notice that the three temptations have three elements in common.
First, the devil sought to narrow Jesus’s focus specifically on each tempting proposition, so that Jesus would view each in a distorted context and therefore experience them as disproportionately compelling. More on this in a moment.
Second, each temptation promises both explicit and implicit rewards. I will paraphrase some that I discern, as if spoken by the tempter:
Third, each tempting proposition makes implicit threats. Again, I’ll paraphrase some that I discern:
Satan’s Core Strategy
This dissection of Jesus’s temptation experience helps us examine not only the devil’s specific strategy with Jesus, but the core strategy he employs in every temptation.
What was the devil trying to do? Essentially, he was seeking to do with Jesus what he did with Adam and Eve and what he does with each of us: disorient Jesus’s perception of reality, so he could distort Jesus’s perception of reality and deceive Jesus into believing a false story about reality.
See if this doesn’t sound familiar. Satan comes when Jesus is in a weakened state — we humans are more easily disoriented when we’re physically, emotionally, psychologically weak. Think about how differently you’re prone to respond to various pressures when you’re weak, rather than when you’re strong and refreshed.
Then he poses to Jesus propositions that put a distorted twist on truth. The devil wove plenty of truth into his presentation of a false reality. Was it inherently sinful for Jesus to desire to satisfy his hunger? No. Was it inherently sinful for Jesus to demonstrate his sonship through miraculously making bread? No — he did this very thing later when he fed the five thousand (Matthew 14:13–21). Was it inherently sinful for Jesus to put his faith in a specific promise of Scripture? No. Was it inherently sinful for Jesus (in particular) to long to be highly exalted and for every knee to bow and tongue to confess his lordship? No (see Philippians 2:9–11).
All of these, given the right context, were good and righteous. What made the devil’s propositions evil was their distorted context. And I think it required more resolve from Jesus’s human nature to resist than we might at first assume.
Jesus Resists
But resist he did. How? One way to describe it is that he skillfully used the armor of God against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). In Jesus’s responses, we see him lifting the “shield of faith” and wielding the “sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:16–17).
Another way to describe it is that Jesus was “not ignorant of [Satan’s] designs” and therefore refused to be “outwitted” by him (2 Corinthians 2:11). Jesus was not ignorant of the universal diabolical dimension of temptation: to disorient, distort, and deceive. So he had his antennae up; he was anticipating it. And when it came, he expected it to sound appealing and appear life-giving, when in reality “its end is the way the death” (Proverbs 14:12).
The devil tempted Jesus to see himself in a different story, one he implied would be better if Jesus took matters into his own hands. Jesus discerned the insidious temptations by remembering the Real Story he was in, which is what his Scripture quotes reveal. He had come to undo the curse of the fall — the catastrophic result of the first Adam believing a perverted story — by doing only what he saw his Father doing (John 5:19).
Remember the Story You’re In
That is the crucial application point I want to draw from Jesus’s temptation: remember the story you’re in. All of us tend to respond to tempting desires or fears based on the narrative of reality we believe (or want to believe) at the moment. What will lead to more joy or less misery, according to the story we’re believing? If we allow ourselves to be disoriented and sold a distorted bill of goods, and if we then take the bait of a deceptively appealing false story, we will be “lured and enticed by [our] own desire,” which when “conceived gives birth to sin, and sin . . . [eventually] brings forth death” (James 1:14–15).
Many different strategies for fighting different kinds of temptations exist. But all of them require that we not be outwitted by Satan due to ignorance of his designs to disorient, distort, and deceive. God calls us, like Jesus, to “be sober-minded [and] watchful,” since our “adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8). So, like Jesus, we anticipate what temptation will be like, and when it arrives we resist the devil by first remembering the story we’re in.

PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
Bless-ed morning, duchess. Always watchful, we never know the moment when Christ will reappear. It is promised He will. And in this Season of Anticipation and Expectation and unending Hope, we prepare. 🙏
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

There were Christmas truces at places along the lines where the lines were relatively close together. It drove the high command on both sides crazy.
There in fact were places along the lines down near the Swiss border where the trenches were lightly held by both sides and relatively close together where the troops on both sides would regularly mess together in the evening.
I should add though that in both the World Wars there were also battles over the Holidays at times.

Good morning all…First week pupdate, celebrating his first week in the new home”, and I think he has grown!
The new furball is settling in quite nicely. My other boy is learning to play with a puppy…he can be a bit rough at times so the humanz have to intervene.
The little guy is getting the idea of housebreaking…the litter was litter box trained which is good and bad…trying to get him to not hold it for inside the crate….and that outside is okay…is a slow reverse process…
He is so sweet to watch…chasing a leaf, catching it, running with it and then dropping it for a twig!
He had a ‘meet and greet’ with Santa and his elves yesterday…And of course, had his picture taken with Santa and received a canine candy cane (milk bone)….I don’t know what he asked Santa for, though and Santa did not tell me….
The elves were amazed at how soft his coat is…
He sat like an angel in Santa’s lap. No fear.
It’s been 22 years since I have had an actual “planned” puppy. This has been a joy and its only the first week!
by planning I mean, puppy proofing the house…getting his gear…(bowls, leash, collar, toys, treats etc).
All the rest have been rescues or ones that I found and took in…spontaneous choices for them…
Aggiegirl, I’d like to think he asked Santa for a loving home…and I’m so certain Santa delivered early😘🌲
I am overjoyed for the happiness this (still) small has given to you…truly.
Aww…thank you Betsy! He is truly a joy! Yes, he got an early Christmas Present!
He knows the routine…he goes potty and I, in my best “Micky Mouse” happy voice, say “yay, good pee pee (or poops)”.
He then sits and looks at me, to cough up the treat! He is starting to go to the door to let me know he has to go…
The older boy is starting to have fun and play, again! That warms my heart!
I missed his breed, Aggiegirl…?? It’s a good thing your neighbours can’t hear you. We have always spoken to our animals in that sort of voice, I have no idea why…
Almost there with the potty training…hooray (jazz hands😁)!!!

Mornin’ y’all!
Pure malevolence in that odious face.
I struggle with that idea…as I find his face and some of his facial expressions, detestable.
I often have to ask the Lord for forgiveness regarding my flaw!
An evil man.
Would love to hear Carlin’s bits for today’s world. (Language advisory)
I first heard of George Carlin from a catholic nun. She was an interesting teacher and she gets more interesting as I age.
I love Carlin. No matter whatever else he may have been (as others have gleefully pointed out), language aside, he wasn’t wrong then and becomes more relevant today. I understand completely what you say of the nun you mention.
Blessings to you, my friend.
Dumber than a second coat of pain…I love it!
More relevant today on the education aspect. The whole 10+ minutes…very relevant…
He does this with such passion…
He really was spot on for his time. I never thought this country would get to the point when it would get so.much worse. Just tells you long our decline has been going on.
I love how he conscientiously repeats things. He drives it home and doesn’t skip a beat. No one leaves unscathed.
Back when we strove for excellence because no one wanted to be the butt of a Carlin joke.
Blessings to you as well, Betsy. I needed a laugh and Carlin delivers. Though.. it tends to not be as funny when there is too much truth to it.
LO, HOW A ROSE E’ER BLOOMING
A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse,
and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.
The Lord’s Spirit will rest on him:
the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of counsel and might,
the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.
— Isaiah 11:1-2
But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take to yourself Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.
She shall give birth to a son. You shall name him Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.”
Now all this has happened that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child,
and shall give birth to a son.
They shall call his name Immanuel,”
which is, being interpreted, “God with us.”
— Matthew 1:20-23
1. Lo, how a rose e’er blooming from tender stem hath sprung!
Of Jesse’s lineage coming as prophets long have sung.
It came, a floret bright,
Amid the cold of winter, when half-spent was the night.
2. Isaiah ’twas foretold it, the rose I have in mind;
With Mary we behold it, the virgin mother kind.
To show God’s love aright.
She bore to us a Savior, when half-spent was the night.
3. This flow’r whose fragrance tender with fragrance fills the air.
Dispels with glorious splendor the darkness everywhere.
True man yet very God.
From sin and death He saves us and lightens every load.
4. O Savior child of Mary, who felt our human woe;
O Savior, King of glory, who dost our weakness know:
Bring us at length we pray
To the bright courts of heaven, and to the endless day.
Happy Advent, Treepers.
Thank you so much, 1530.
A most beautiful carol performed by the purest voices, not one outshining the other.
VOCES8 was a bless-ed discovery for me three years ago. Their voices!! So perfect, so well suited for the works of Praetorius especially, and others. What a gift for this Second Sunday in Advent. Blessings to you.
And blessings to you, Betsy.
Have a blessed Second Sunday of Advent, 1530.
And you also, GrandpaM.
Cactus Blossoms – Mississippi. The harmonies sound a lot like the Everly Brothers to me.
Please pardon me if this is the wrong place to post this. Several electrical substations in Moore Co., NC were ‘vandalized’ last night, 3 December 2022, knocking out electricity to @ half the county (35- 40,000 customers – Duke Power mostly). Heavy police presence around several gun stores & Walmart in Aberdeen, NC. Here’s the local newspaper link thepilot.com . Fort Bragg is not far from this area.
I have just read this elsewhere, Geo. I’m honestly looking for more of this to happen.
I hope not but wouldn’t be surprised if it does. Some in the press are trying to connect it with a drag queen show protest. That’s mighty convenient but killing two or three electric substations & knocking out electricity for half a county seems to be over-kill to me. Noticed that the fib was on the scene early-on … am sure everyone will ‘feel’ safer knowing they’re ‘going to have a thorough investigation & get to the bottom of this so it never happens again.’ (Sarcasm intended)
I also am curious and concerned. It is impossible to trust any of the news or the government players.
If these characters knock out our power, are we prepared for the cold and all the consequences of power outages? I relish every day of lights and warmth, and try to keep gas in the car and the laundry clean. Sort of like hurricane prep.
And I try to make sure that the people I most love and appreciate, know this through my words and actions
Went to look for thepilot.com. Here is a link about community coping

Praying for you and yours Geo
Thank you JWoo. We’re not in the outage area but those who are will certainly appreciate your prayers. God’s Blessings to you & yours …

Interesting and thought-provoking article with a lot of good points (though I don’t agree with all of it) . . . .
