According to a released article in Time Magazine, Twitter employees have drafted a letter containing several ‘demands.’ In addition to demanding they are not fired, they demand assurances against discrimination for their political beliefs.
(TIME) […] TIME reviewed a draft of the open letter circulating among Twitter employees on Monday. “Elon Musk’s plan to lay off 75% of Twitter workers will hurt Twitter’s ability to serve the public conversation,” said the draft of the letter, which has not yet been published. “A threat of this magnitude is reckless, undermines our users’ and customers’ trust in our platform, and is a transparent act of worker intimidation.”
The letter demands that Musk commits to preserving Twitter’s current headcount if his takeover of the company goes through. It also demands he does not discriminate against employees based on their political beliefs and that he commits to “fair” severance policies and more communication about working conditions. “We demand to be treated with dignity, and to not be treated as mere pawns in a game played by billionaires,” the list of demands says. Education has devolved to a point that it no longer helps expand the mind. It teaches the students how to build a very specific box, climb into it, and lock it shut. That’s why they have no self-awareness – they can’t see outside the box.
They were/are taught that it’s very critical they stay inside that box. They are intimidated and frightened and bullied into those boxes in the education system. Very specific brainwashing techniques are used in the public (and some private) education systems, and in almost all “higher ed”. Example of one institution of higher ed. They tell the students that they *must* “stand on the shoulders of giants”. In other words, they must accept that only certain literature is acceptable and not to be argued with; they are to only reference the approved literature; all other attempts will get you an F, etc. Take a guess at the worldview of said literature.
There’s peer pressure, and then there’s flat out indoctrination implemented by certain teachers and administration. I’ve got lots of degrees, and technical certifications up the ying yang, lots of experience, and I would not put a child of mine into public education nor send them to college. They can learn everything they need to know by reading books, and working for themselves.

You have today’s education problem nailed. My kids are now young adults and they have no desire to put their children into schools to be molded and raised with someone else’s values.
You are very close to the reality of education in the West today. It is remarkable to me how fearful that today’s students are. They are absolutely terrified of being wrong. They will not venture an answer or even an educated guess when questioned.
I have a habit of challenging students when they give a correct answer to a question. All I have to do is say, “Are you sure?”, and nine times out of ten they will fold on their correct answer. They lack certainty in their lives whether that is induced by their family situation (divorce, single female household, grandparents custodians, and so on) and an education system more concerned with catering to their feelings than teaching them to read and write.
After twenty years I simply can’t take it any more, and I’m moving on. It is depressing and disgusting. Public schools should should die and in their place smaller learning communities that are focused in the neighborhoods, small towns, and communities where the children live. In today’s schools, a student can enter a high school and be virtually unknown for the entirety of their attendance.
We put men on the moon with students educated in small schools from across our nation. It’s time to get back to that condition.

One of my memorable memories in college was in a Thermodynamics class with a professor who I’d already had for a number of other STEM courses. I turned in a homework assignment and got it back graded with a 90 but I knew that one of the questions I got marked wrong was correct, but the answer in the back of the book for it was wrong. Getting assigned problems with an answer key was common, the odd numbered homework questions had the answers in the back of the book. Sometimes you get all even problems assigned, sometimes just odd ones, or a mix. Every undergrad physics and calculus class textbook did that when I was in school.
I started to argue this right in front of the class. The prof (Dr. Philips) said “Well, most people here got it right. Let me show you on the board.” So he starts to work the problem on the board. At one critical point I pointed out that we can’t assume constant pressure due to some reason or other I forget now. The problem used the wrong steam table. The answer in the book was wrong. He immediately saw the error, worked the problem the right way, and got my answer.
The class sorta hated me for that as he walked around with his grade book and marked the other students down 10 points who got the back of the book answer.
I had a similar experience in an experimental physics class. The project was to use some equipment to measure the lifetime of a muon created by cosmic rays raining down on our atmosphere.
I ran the experiment and when analyzing the data, I realized that the error bars induced by the various pieces of equipment made it possible to come up with a huge range of numbers, to the point that the experiment was almost useless in measuring the muon lifetime. I wrote my report expressing this viewpoint and expressing the result as a largely meaningless range.
Most of the students got the “right lifetime”. This was probably because you could just look it up in a Physics book. I looked it up and knew the “right” answer, but I didn’t use it in my report.
The grad student who ran the class, gave me an A+ and noted that I was the only student to ever get the correct answer and really understand the (largely meaningless) experiment in the 3 years or so he had been running the class.
It was fun operating the equipment though.
I left teaching at a University also. Absolutely disgusted. We were told to “follow the curriculum” and “follow the rubric” to make sure that the students were “fairly graded” – no teaching involved – just rote stupidity. I recall that I was told that I was not allowed to open the door for a disabled student, that it implied racism somehow. I like to teach until I see the lightbulb go on in every student’s head, no matter how creative I have to get. I want them to think critically. Solve problems on their own. I felt as if I was hitting my head against a wall. Sad state of affairs. I do so hope, as you said, that public schools fold. That parents “take their power back”. That children will not be subjected to this horrible experiment gone wrong.
P.S. My grandchildren are either homeschooled or are in private, small, Christian schools. Blossoming, I might add.

Until last night at 10 PM, when I tuned into Greg Kelly on Newsmax, I NEVER even knew that Schumer was RUNNING for Senate for reelection until last night!!!!!

I follow all things state, federal and local as it pertains to leadership.
We do not see one sign, one acknowledgement, one ad…nothing…that allows ANYONE to know that Schumer is running against JOE PINION, a well -spoken candidate on the Republican ticket!!!!!!

My 30,000 foot opinion of those lefties who deleted their Twitter accounts: they had DM’s with Twitter Staff/Execs about pushing their tweets about politic events to create a narrative and deleted the accounts so that info could be wiped.
I live near Monterey, CA. We’re renting now because there are no homes to purchase in our price range. There are a lot of Bay Area tech personnel living here and working from their homes. I think that I’ll wait another 3 months and snatch up a Twitter home/office as the home inventory may now be increasing. I’m cheering on the 75% layoffs.

In my 40+ years as a San Francisco Native and as some one who has faced PERSONAL attacks against my Conservative and Christian Beliefs, I never had any assurances against discrimination.
I just rolled with it and took the punches and as Donald Trump has always done punched back harder.
