As a mechanic by trade I would consider a Hybrid but EV is a total loser.
Back in the good ole days, guys could fix their own care most of the time.
I still do,…my vehicles are all at least 25 y.o., and my current oldest is 47 y.o. and my favorite year, over all is 1965.
Such cars are made for owner repair, new ones are not.

We have numerous enormous old oak trees throughout our neighborhood. Translation: when the wind blows enthusiastically, the electric power crashes. Tree limbs – sometimes whole trees – come down and on occasion a transformer explodes. Very exciting – in a warped sense of humor way.
My 2015 Subaru delivers very decent gas mileage. And I don’t have to add another power outage worry to my list, or double the size of our monthly electric bill. Been here in the same home for 35 years now. Modest, well kept neighborhood with the loveliest neighbors.
