Back in the day, growing up in the Canal Zone, a fully fledged US territory…there was an open border between the Canal Zone and the Republic of Panama. And it was respected. The border had fences but there were open areas for vehicular traffic to move back and forth–was not really patrolled, so it was not ‘locked up tight’ so to speak….I myself do not understand.
The old CZ was a government socialist Utopia. Limited stores to shop in. Limited everything. Of course, that was 50+ years ago. No sales tax. No tax on booze or tobacco. Panama Red…well, that could get one locked up. The only other drug then was LSD, heroin was only joining the cabal back then.
The Canadian border was about 60 miles north of our Montana farm. (We’re talking the very early 1950s in this memory….)
My dad made a point of taking the two youngest-of-seven up there one day, my brother and I….just so we could look into Canada and know we that we had.
We were standing on a narrow tar road with absolutely no evidence of “a border”, 500 miles of prairie no matter which way we looked. We were allowed to walk into Canada a few feet, and then come right back out…..no chance of us getting sloppy ideas about international borders. Seriously, that’s exactly how it took place.
The high school bands from northern Montana and North Dakota frequently went to Regina, Sask for various music contests…just got in a big ol’ bus and drove up there. That was not a complicated process, I suspect because it was given that no one was going to play games about international borders.
Lived a similar distance from the Canadian border most of my life. Used to drive up to Trail BC to buy 222’s over the counter. At first there was no limit on them. In view of the fakestream media’s attempt to demonize Putin for supposedly threatening the West with a nuclear strike, I find it necessary to let you listen to Putin’s actual speech—not the whole speech, of course, but more than what the media is letting people hear.
Putin made the point that western leaders had been talking about nuking Russia, and so Putin reminded them that they are not the only ones with nuclear weapons. He said that if the west decides to use nukes against Russia, he will not hesitate to use them against the west as well. In other words, Putin was threatening to retaliate if the west decides to go nuclear.
The media left out that little detail in order to demonize Putin and bring a wave of fear to the people in the west.

The big problem has been there are some babies born with the genito-urinary and mammary structures of both sexes, parents in the early 90’s were often tasked with making a decision for the baby, as to what gender they feel is appropriate. I had one patient that comes to mind. In this instance, its not an easy decision that the parents made and did not make it lightly. Again they were offered the pro’s and con’s of each choice to help them make the best decision for their baby. The were given factual info that was available at the time. No based on activist hysteria.

The short answer is yes. We had friends whose child was born with the ‘both sex structures’. They had DNA tests done and determined the child was a girl.
I don’t honestly know how the decisions were made. I am sure geneticists were involved somehow. That was a still newly emerging field and not yet ‘authoritative’ as the human genome had not quite been completely mapped. (or it was just recently then, completed)… I would imagine that they did at that time in history. (In 1983, I was unknowingly at the time pregnant with my first…and had been exposed to massive intra operative x-rays during an emergency surgery…they consulted the university geneticist when they found out I was pregnant…never showed up on a pregnancy test pre op). Baby was healthy and normal.

I’ve lived in far West Texas and Central Texas for 50 years. I’ve traveled all over Texas as an engineer. We currently live in the Ozarks in Arkansas. Beautiful but rather poor state.
Texas should remain one state. We often discussed becoming a separate nation, as in seceding. However, after the horror of the civil war, that option is no longer open.
The ruling class in Washington D.C. would never allow such action, and indeed would no doubt bring the full power and destruction of the U.S. military down on Texas.
Written into the US Constitution is a clause saying that all new State’s must be admitted on equal footing as the original 13 colonies. If Texas was granted special status compared to other States, that would violate the Constitution.
