I honestly can’t understand why Trump’s team would schedule a rally in Ohio starting at the same time as the Buckeyes game.
Somebody in his team is totally tone deaf when it comes to scheduling.
Many people would much rather watch a Trump rally than to watch those football people kneel for our American Flag and our National Anthem.
It’s college football, and it’s a big deal in Ohio. Nobody is kneeling. And I guarantee most Ohioans are watching the game, not the rally. Me included, and you know how big a fan of Trump I am.
Some traditions you just don’t mess with.
Nothing takes precedence over a Trump rally in our house and that is the same in all the households around here. Good for you wanting to watch a sport sponsored by institutions that teach liberalism that is helping to put our country in the shape it is now.

If you want to reach people, you do so in a way that is most convenient for the people you want to reach. There is no point in “reaching” people you already have.

I bleed Scarlet and Grey and I have enough respect for football players, having been one myself years ago, that I can and will watch every second of every game of the team I love no matter who they are playing, because that other team is still a group of dedicated guys trying their hearts out.
I may have a Southern bent, and I am not from Ohio, but I was raised with Buckeye football and I will not miss a game.
And there are a lot of people like me. I know, deep down, it’s meaningless. But I also know that these little cultural anchor points are the exact things the bad guys are trying to destroy. And I won’t let them, not even for a Trump rally, one of a hundred I’ve seen or been to.
They’ve gone after movies and TV shows, even the NFL at this point. How long until they get everything else? I’ll do the rituals, and watch the games, no matter how silly anyone thinks it is, because I love the people here and everywhere. And I want all of us to have our “little things” that divide us, but in a much bigger way unite us.
It’s not difficult to watch both.

See, Trump doesn’t go to different states to do his rallies with a national audience in mind. He does that to get the local audiences, which is why local representatives and candidates are involved in the rallies. If he holds his rally in a big college football state, during the big team game, he is losing a LOT of potential viewers. And they won’t care to watch it after because they’ll be so many beers in and ready for bed.
And no, you can’t pay attention to a rally and watch a football game if you really want to pay attention to anything.

Look, I get it. You’re a big Trump fan. I am too. I’ll make sure to catch a recording of the rally after the game is over.
But Trump isn’t rallying for us. He’s rallying to catch people who maybe don’t know what “side” their on, or don’t know which candidate to pick but have certain feelings about things.
Those people aren’t going to go out of their way to see a recording of a Trump rally. And those are the people he needs to reach.
You gotta stop thinking about this stuff with a self-centric point of view. Think about it as an outreach program. You need to make things easily and readily available to the people you want to talk to.
Don’t do a rally in Ohio or Texas or Alabama or Georgia or a bunch of other states on a Saturday during football season right when the big team in that state is playing. It’s stupid. You aren’t reaching anyone. You are only letting your fans see another rally. Which amounts to nothing from a campaign perspective. You and I are already gonna vote for him and whatever candidates in our state he endorsed. He needs to reach people that aren’t so certain.
