He did a lot of things proactively in FL for the people. He came out and prevented mandatory vax for his state so people didn’t fear losing their jobs. He cleaned up some nasty election officials in Miami I believe. He proactively made sure nursing homes were kept safe during Covid, he kept his state open for the most part during Covid etc. He confronted big corps like Disney on the school policies he put in place to protect the kids from social junk education. Maybe no one counts his policies in FL as true action, but he did a lot for FL.
That being said, I will wait and see how things progress for DeSantis as he looks seriously at going to the national stage. I think he does need to separate from any GOPe influence and backing. He needs to be verbally supportive of PTrump when and if he runs. He needs to speak up about the voting machines and mail in balloting in FL. But, I have no problem with DeSantis or any other person who is planning ahead for where they want to go career wise and beginning and exploring the road to do so. He will either make good or bad choices and that’s on him. I’m sure it’s a learning experience for anyone to navigate those kinds of political mechanisms. He and others with similar future plans need to be very careful not to fall into the traps set for them.
There may be extenuating circumstances for much of what he isn’t seemingly doing. If so, he needs to come clean sooner than later or he will lose a lot of support amongst many conservative republicans and fall squarely into the GOPe camp which will be very unfortunate for him politically. What he does over the next few months will put him in a clearer light for all of us.

Anything that is still classified would be stored and examined there. Anything in locked broom closets is no longer classified.
The President has plenary power to classify or declassify anything. If the President now says that anything at his home was declassified before he took it home, then … it is. (As a recent Supreme Court decision affirmed in a case involving the US Navy. None of the rules that apply to anyone else apply to him. He needs no one’s “consent.”)

I taught as an adjunct for 19 years at a local Community College. I had taught as an assistant at the local University while I finished my PhD. So, I had the degree and teaching experience for the gig.
One three-hour course a semester (no summers, those were reserved for the full-time staff) only netted $2700 IF you filled the amphitheater with 60 students. You had to meet all of the onerous administrative crap and do your own testing, teaching, grading and meet with students at least one hour per three hours of instruction (office hour).
Oh, and hold down a full-time job that actually paid you enough so you could afford to teach.
Full time PhD staff were hired in 2011 at $45k on a 9 month contract.
Your average high school teacher with a bachelors makes $58,000+ in Florida public schools.

Junior was not seen at the nest tree for a while and one of the wildlife curators in the area drove out to see what they could find–did Junior just jet out of the area and start his life? Was he OK? His Hawk step-sibling was still hanging around the nest tree and getting occasional meals from “mom” and “dad” but, no Junior.
The curator found Junior’s body under transmission lines. He’d been electrocuted and died.
The little eyas continued to come back to the nest tree and to play with the sticks she’d played with with her “brother” as hatchlings. She had been stolen from her hawk nest and carried to the eagle nest as intended as food for Junior, but he fell in love with his little, fuzzy meal and “mom” eagle spared the little hawk chick. “Dad” eagle came around, too, and neither adult ripped the little eyas up to feed the little eagle. Instead, they fed her.
It was something to watch.

I’m looking for a dog and I always get rescues. So as I am looking I am seeing many descriptions of “dog or dogs were surrendered because their owner/owners died”. Now I know that would happen “naturally” but it seems to be on there a lot.

The conflict in Ukraine has turned into a slow, slogging, “war of attrition” which Russia still possesses the native manufacturing capacity, and the native resources, to pursue indefinitely.
The USA used to also possess this capacity, but it has “outsourced” all of it to … uhh … an ally of its chosen enemy. All of those vast industrial plants have been turned into apartment buildings or vacant lots, and anyway there is no one left in America who still knows how to run them. If a single cough of coal smoke ever appeared at the top of those stacks, LGBTQ+ABCXYZ snowflakes would be descending upon our courthouses, screaming of “carbon emissions.” Anyway, there is obviously no place in a steel mill for latté machines …
