Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Good afternoon Bet and amen!
Howdy, world traveller😘!!
.
.
.
Those two are really gorgeous. We love our kitties. A day without cats is like a day without sunshine.
Amen brother.
Good morning, Casco💖 I’m hoping this Bless-ed Sunday is a day of rest for you.
Good morning, Joe. In house entertainment, that’s what they are. When they feel like it, of course😉
Good morning, Bet. Just woke up again. Turning on the coffee pot. I need to brush my gray tabby as she’s shedding. I can do that while the coffee’s brewing.
Earlier this morning, I was reading a bio on Michael Collins and his involvement in the civil unrest in Ireland during the early 1900s. Very long and complex story, but worth looking at.
What got me interested in his bio was the song posted earlier in this comments section about the Black and Tans.
How funny, Joe! It’s a job for me to go through all the posts on this thread, because we have a feral tabby…or rather he has us. It has taken years for him to gift us with any trust. But in the mornings I’m summoned no fewer than 5 or 6 times.
The first time is for food. Then the second is for me to brush him. He marches out of the garage and has a spot where he lies down. And then I spend about 10 minutes brushing. He rolls around and simply lets me. But the thing most remarkable is that he has never been a talker or a purrer. Recently I can just detect a rumbling of a purr while I am brushing, and now he gives me a little trill when I approach him with the brush. Small victories, but victories all the same.
I wanted to say again how happy I am for your raise. Such a welcome boost I’m certain, and so well deserved I am more than sure. It will definitely put a hitch in your giddyup as were known to say in Texas, when you go back to work. Bravo!
There was a movie made about Michael Collins long ago, but for the life of me I can’t recall the title. If I’m not mistaken, Liam Neeson starred as Collins. I’ll have to look it up. Yes, I saw Keln had posted that.
Our experiences with the latter day IRA are terrible. Indiscriminate deadly bombings ? Which killed so many innocents. And one at a the Cenotaph bombing on Remembrance Sunday in Enniskillen, 1987…women, children amongst the dead. Unforgiveable. I was living in Wales at this time. Then Lord Mountbatten and his grandson and others on a boat in the Irish Sea.
Irish history is extremely interesting and troubled Today I’m afraid that country has morphed into something out of all recognition. But the countryside is magnificent. Once seen, never forgotten.
My wife and I visited Kerry County, Ireland a number of years ago. We toured the coastline and visited a couple of old castles, including the one with the Blarney Stone. I was warned not to kiss the Blarney Stone. Apparently locals in the area go to pubs, drink lots of beer, then for a laugh, use the Blarney Stone as a urinal late at night when no tourists are around. I went to the top of the castle where I could see a line of tourists waiting to lean over and plant a kiss on the Blarney Stone.
I guess they didn’t get the memo. Oh well, better them than me…
I saw the movie about Michael Collins a long time ago. I think we watched it when we had cable tv. Liam Neeson did play the part of Michael Collins. I remember some parts of it. I’ll have to look it up.
Haha…no. Not a good idea. AT ALL!!
Hey Bet. I found the movie “Michael Collins” on-line. It has Arab subtitles in lower part of screen. That’s ok, we don’t sweat the small stuff. At least they’re speaking English in the flick.
Be back in a couple of hours….
Right-o…Enjoy!
I watched “Michael Collins” a little while ago. Fairly good movie with Liam Neeson, Brendan Gleeson, Julia Roberts, Aiden Quinn. Filmed on location in different parts of Ireland. Collins’ actual bio was a little more complex than the flick, but I wouldn’t trust everything I read on Wikipedia..
Since I’ve mentioned some well known celebrities, the story of Anne Heche’s car crash was crazy. It’s my understanding that she is in stable condition, but she was intubated while in ICU. I wonder what percentage of her body sustained serious burns; apparently it will take a long time for her to recover from her injuries. It’s amazing that she’s still alive and thankfully no one in the house was hurt from the car crash. Heche is going to be doing a lot of therapy, both physical and mental. She’ll be lucky if she doesn’t do jail time. The police couldn’t question her because of her injuries. That’s on hold for now.
I saw some of the photos taken at the scene of the crash. Holy moly.
Just glad she didn’t take out an innocent.
My dad headed the burn unit at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio after he returned from Korea. As he never spoke of his time on the front lines, nor did he speak of his time at Fort Sam. Never a word.
Your dad probably saw some horrific things in both Korea and the burn unit at Fort Sam Houston. He may have thought it best to keep those memories to himself. Sometimes long term memory will kick in like it happened yesterday.
I’m watching a show on the Infowars site with Mike Adams interviewing Gonzalo Lira. Adams is filling in for Alex Jones for about an hour. Interesting discussion about events in the Ukraine, Europe, Zelensky, etc.
Joe, here you go. The Saker, where you’ll find more Gonzalez videos. This is an exceptional site for information which you will not find here on the Ukraine situation. It is run by Andrei, an Orthodox Christian.
https://thesaker.is/
I love Mike and his site.
I saved the Saker’s site some time ago; his blogs are some of my favorites. Andrei did a great interview with Michael Hudson about a week ago. Chilling prognoses for Germany and the UK (no pun intended) this coming winter.
I’m not a big fan of Infowars but I will check out AJ’s site from time to time. Depending on who is being interviewed. I do think Alex Jones was railroaded by the courts per Sandy Hook .
God Bless America 🙂
Love it, Jay! 🙂
Gracious Sunday morning, Garrison🙏💖
You, too, Bet. Sunday blessings are always deeply felt. Thank you. 🙂
Most welcome, my friend.😘
Morning jay and Garrison! I know it’s still late night for y’all but it’s morning where I am. 😁
God of Tobiah and his faithful dog,
God of all travelers:
send us an angel to keep us safe wherever we go.
Grant us summertime refreshment,
as you once sent ravens to refresh
Your holy prophet Elijah.
Like Ruth and Naomi,
keep us devoted to one another.
Like Abraham and Sarah,
may we be gracious to guest
and hospitable to strangers.
Bless us on our journeys,
bless the people we meet,
and bless our returning home,
through Christ our Lord.Amen.
Mornin’ GrandpaM and enjoy your vacation! 🙂
Amen 🙏
I didn’t know if it would be appropriate to post here, but I posted on the prayer request thread for my friend Aaron who lost his 7 year old boy and possibly his wife on Thursday.Totally devastating… 🙁
If my vote counts, it’s appropriate 😉
Prayers up for your extended family 🙏
Of course your vote counts in my book Cat.I haven’t been able to sleep all night.I’ve just been roaming the branches.I’m gonna go lay down and maybe try to get some shut eye for a bit.Thank you for the prayers amiga. 🙂
Been there, done that 😉
When you need to prowl…. the tree has the best branches, don’t you think? 🥰
Amen sistah. 🙂
Lord of all comfort be with Aaron in this time of such loss, may he have peace in his deep, deep sorrow. ✝️
Love, prayers, comfort and healing for your friends.🙏
Oh my Dear Lord…there is never a better place than here. You must know that. Words are inadequate for this tragedy, Casco. Except when our hearts pour them out to God. Compassion for our brethren is the DNA of our humanity. God bless him and please keep him in Your care as he grieves.
I am so truly sorry🙏
Prayers for your loved ones
Your comment was appropriate; you’re amongst friends here. You have my vote. Aaron has our prayers.
Praying for Aaron, may the Lord hold him in His loving arms and grant him peace and comfort.
Prayers on the way.
Prayers for Aaron. God be with him and comfort him in this time of sorrow.
Oh, Casco. How beautiful! He will be very much touched by this I’m sure.
Morning my dear friend and thank you all for your prayers. You are all very kind and considerate.
The next problem that I discussed with him,is if his wife should be told about the loss of their son,if she should come out of her coma (she has a blood clot in the brain).I suggested to him that I thought he might want to wait a bit if this should happen,as to not exacerbate her recovery.I don’t know if this is good advice or not,but I felt that it could complicate things, provided that the Lord should see fit to bring her back.I’m not even sure if she would remember what happened. It’s in the Lord’s hands for now.
Blessings to all here on this, the Lord’s day.Pax vobis. 🙂
What an awful situation. It would be hard to think of a worse one. A decision, the answer for which will make itself apparent at the proper time. I can’t get this tragedy out of my mind today, Casco, as I know you cannot.
One day at a time is how I’m certain your friend is facing it. It’s all that can be done beside unending prayers, which he no doubt has from all who know him and from us as well. He must not lose his wife.
This is one of those situations where all he can do is tell Almighty God he can’t do this on his own…although it is assured He knows this.
Please keep us informed if you can about his wife’s progress. Praying for her recovery and for His grace to help them both to endure the unendurable.🙏
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😁
Another day down, G, until you’re back where you belong.🙏💖
Drove my Mom today to the town where she was born and grew up. I also spent many summers here as a kid. It’s in the mountains. Spending the night before driving back tomorrow.
‘It has been a nice trip so far but I’m so ready to be back home in Texas.❤️
Oh how lovely, G. Thomas Wolfe said you can’t go home again, you know. I have found that to be true.
I do so hope, though, it was NOT true for your mother, or for you. I know things change but I do pray there was enough left so that her memories were given life….that is, if they were good ones. I do so hope they were.
Can’t wait to get you back. Keeping your branch tidy and in good order so it will be as if you never left. Prayers still in effect for your bride, my dear brother. 🙏
Morning Gramps. Well obviously that’s the problem—you’re just in the wrong place. Come back to Texas and you’ll be ok!! 🙂
😁😁😁
😁
Good morning, Mr jay. How perfect for this Sunday.🙏💖
🙂 🙂
Oh my, Mr jay!!!!!! I could stare at that picture for hours. I’ve already lost myself in it. Thank you!!😍😍😍
I do wonder where that is. With the lavender, my guess is somewhere in France…except for the straight road. It really doesn’t matter in the end. It’s just so lovely.
Late to the party, but……………………just had to say these are really great golden oldies!
‘Gathering Flowers for the Master’s Bouquet’ was sung at Mother’s funeral in 1990; and, Ray Steven’s, as you know, did a great rendition of, ‘Turn Your Radio On’, in the 1970’s.
Thank you, very so much, for sharing these tunes. They bring back precious memories!
Good morning all.
In 8-10 days the Atlantic hurricane season should start finding its legs and the weather patterns will be conducive for landfalls along the US shores.
So far this year every basin, with the exception of the SE Pacific, has had well below average tropical cyclone activity. The Global ACE (Accumulated Cyclone Energy) is at 78% of the average.
Here are the basins and the activity in them so far this year as per Dr. Ryan Maue’s ACE index.
Global Tropical Cyclone Activity | Ryan Maue (climatlas.com)
note: The N. Atlantic basin includes the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean.
Initially the storms will form in the Gulf of Mexico or Caribbean because so far there have been cooler than average SSTs (Sea Surface Temperatures) along the MDR (Main Development Region) of the Atlantic. That is the region where tropical waves coming out of Africa grow into tropical storms. There has also been some dust flowing across the Atlantic out of Africa which also inhibits tropical storm development. But all of that too is starting to change.
Strengthening as a tropical storm approaches landfall in the US is to be expected no matter where the storm is coming from because there are higher than average SSTs all along the coast of the US right now.
So get ready for the braying of climate doom from the usual jackasses of the press because in a week to two weeks they are likely to have something to scream about.
Joe Bastardi lays it out for you after talking about precip and temps in the US.

This means I need to go up and chase down a roof leak. Dammit. 🙂
I’ve got a little one too.
Yesterday I bought roll out roofing to do my lean-to for the wood. I also bought cable and Eye bolts. I am going to string a tarp across the opening to keep my wood a dry as possible.
I cleaned out the place where the ash from the fireplace goes down the slot. It is accessed by a 6″ x 6″ cast iron door located just above ground level at the base of the chimney. I noticed while doing so that cold air from the A/C air in the house was flowing down.
This makes me think I will not have to install any outside air ducting to the insert. The cast iron door comes off, and I’m thinking that all I have to do is put heavy duty magnetic tape on the plastic duct cover that came with the fresh air feed kit for the insert and take off the cast iron door and put the cover on over the opening with it stuck to the cast iron frame by the magnetic tape. When the season for using the insert is over just pull off the louvered plastic outside air cover and replace the cast iron door to keep but bugs and critters out.
We’ll see what my chimney sweep says about that idea.
Quite a project you have going on there sir.My hats off to you.
I’ve been doing a little project here myself for the last month and a half.Replacing all the old awning windows with PGT impacts. No more having to tapcon in 3/4″ plywood every time a “blow” comes through …its heavy and I’m not getting any younger. However,in doing so,finding out that the “addition” part of my house was done poorly (I had already suspected this).I had to reframe the windows, not only for different sizes, but for the fact that the bucks and sill plates were completely rotted out from untreated lumber.Used pressure treated, well,”weather guard” lumber to replace all…,tar paper, lathing and plastering (stucco) the whole section.
Completely clean and repaint interior ceilings, walls and woodwork, even the high hat light baffles (they are $15 bucks a piece new and I have 57 of them).Ground out the old grout (1971) and regrouted the bathrooms and replaced some tiles.Cleaned the grout on the ceramic floors with a sulfamic acid based solution and resealed them.Deep cleaned all furniture, china etc and repainted and organized the kitchen cabinets…
And it’s amazing how much stuff you can accumulate in 20 years.Throwing out a bunch of things, and donating a lot of clothes that don’t fit anymore (I’m too fat…20-25 lbs) to Amvets, most barely worn or used…
Reengineered and replaced the fan on the central AC unit with an old one I had and put in a new “wallbanger” in my office.Have yet to get to my office or the garage.Ha! Those will be projects in themselves.
I had already replaced the west side of the house cast iron drain lines from the kitchen and laundry room to the “main” in the front yard 4 years ago.Had to tunnel under the house (20′) and driveway…a nasty job.So I contracted out the other half of the house to have the pipes cleaned and coated (no digging) as I was not up to the task…very expensive, but my body thanked me for it.Still have to clean out the air ducts and blow new insulation, but am going to hot stucco prime and repaint the exterior of the house first, among other things.
This will be my final “hurrah” on the house that I started fixing 20 years ago,and then sort of didn’t have the money or the time to continue until now.I wanted to do this while I still could physically, and so that my wife wouldn’t have to deal with it,if God forbid I should pass (she is not able to for certain reasons). And my oh my,how expensive things are now,as we all know.
By the way,I always found that the black soot on the window of the fireplace burned off as long as you are using hardwood, plus I always liked that bit of “used look to it” feeling that it gave me.YMMV.Best of luck to you amigo and thank you for the weather related reports…I enjoy them immensely. 🙂
Casco, you’re a man among men…to care ahead for your bride, just in case…no words can adequately express….except…. can we clone you to hire out? 🤭
Oh,I don’t know about that amiga…Be careful what you ask for.I have many flaws.I’m overweight,I have a foul mouth,I drink too much,etc,etc,etc.But I’d be happy to hire/help out anyway I can…LOL! Blessings. 🙂
Awww, like ms Idaho says….your bride loves you….warts and all!! 🥰
as you pick up each dropped sock or mop up splashes – ‘I love my husband, I love my husband (or wife)
after all – what would you be without ’em?
And when they are gone I suspect that those ‘chores’ are what you miss the most – right Cat?
You are preachin’ to the choir, Casco. Although, you did leave out cantankerous. When I’m workin’ hard I’m not a very nice person at times. I was biting ten-penny nails in two when I was putting mod-bit roofing on my low slope back roof. Saved a bunch of money and wasn’t actually all that hard but I’m not sure I’d want to do that again. Good thing mod-bit lasts a long time . . . 🙂
Great Sunday afternoon Garrison.I had to look over my shoulder to make sure you weren’t in the room with me!
Cantankerous…now that would be a nice way of putting it.Lol.Yeah,I can be a tad ornery at times I suppose. But not if things are going my way… 🙂
Well guys…you’ve just described my hubby who grew up in post war Britain, exceedingly poor, his father making do and mending.
Once he starts working I stand back and let him get on with it. Tea making is my job (hot, not cold). Give me a man who works with his hands and his heart any day…no matter how cantankerous or how many words might accidentally slip out.
Garrison and Casco, the world would be a poorer place without men like you in it.😘
Bless you Bet… you are one of a kind my friend! 🙂
Much of what you describe are major projects. The kind of stuff my neighbor Steve has taken on. Modern treated lumber sucks unless you buy the premium stuff like Yellow Board. It comes still wet and warps like crazy and it does not stand up well at all when in contact with the ground.
As for windows? All but three in my house are news ones I put in about 5 years ago and I have the others but just haven’t put them in yet. Thankfully we have no 2nd floor to deal with.
I still have projects inside and out I want to get done. Remodel the living room, ceiling to floor. Install a shower with wheelchair access in the small bath which is otherwise all done. It has a cedar closet in it and space is where the shower will go.
Totally redo the main bathroom. The only thing in there that will reused is the toilet which is only a couple years old.
And I have one bedroom, the one I am in now that serves as an office and a kind of catch all to redo. The two other bedrooms, kitchen, and dining room have already all be remodeled.
I had the roof done with “thirty year” dimensional shingles about 10 years ago and should be fine for the time we have left here. I also have some doors to replace.
I find that I can still do many things I could when I was younger. It just takes longer.
Yep,the pt wood they sell now really is terrible, and for the price it should install itself.I remember when we used to dip the wood in creosote or used motor oil,or even that Jasco? green stuff if it was going to touch the ground.
I didn’t want to remodel my bath because I like the old light blue 4″ x 4″ tiles on the walls with the black tile outer border, and the 1″x 1″ multi speckled blue mosaic tiles on the floor and pan.If it had been the old puke green, gaudy pink or yellow of that time,I would have redone it.It also make it easy to match up the towel hook and the washcloth ring in black,so they match/flow.I was able to find only one shower rod that matched the dimensions I wanted…4′ x 2.5 ‘ adjustable 90 degree black rod that doesn’t attach to the ceiling.I was lucky enough to catch a stud on one side, and put plywood backing on the other.I know, overkill as the liner and pussycat curtain only weigh 2-3 lbs,but hey,I may want to do pull ups on it sometime.I’m kind of old fashioned about certain things and I really dislike the “modern” or “contemporary” look the industries push with everything.Heck,I even kept and sealed the small portion of the chattahoochee deck adjacent to the pool deck, just ’cause you don’t see it at all anymore and I think it’s neat.
You and Garrison have reminded me that I need to cut out, mesh and coat the blisters on my flat roof deck.I lucked out with rest of my roof,as the city changed the specs on what was allowable after Hurricane Wilma. My roofer buddy was able to get Elk 40 year architectural shingles and with maintenance they have held up really well, with the exception of a few “nail pops”.
I really can’t stand the stainless steel they push on everyone
today (especially appliances). It’s so “institutional” to me.It used to be that you had to pay a premium for it,and they standard was white. Now it’s just the opposite.
I replaced the front door and garage “service” doors with fiberglass. After inspections,I’ll bondo the screw holes and spray Stix primer and finish coat with Ben Moore UltraSpec (white). Doing the exterior body with Sherwin Williams Duration (Pavillion Beige). It should look pretty tight.
The only thing about age is that it’s a little harder to work and do this at the same time.Long hours never used to be a problem for me,but now…well …
Glad to see you got your BP down…man,190 over something…that would be fine if you were a hummingbird.I just started on 5 mg amlodipine just this past March.Brought me down to the 130/85 range.First time I’ve had to take something that I didn’t want to.
Good luck with your projects Rah and keep the faith . 🙂
Getting back into the truck in less than an hour. Brought my bedding and sleeping cloths home and Sherry washed it up. So before my head hits the pillow tonight I have to make my bed in the sleeper.
Enjoy the road .
-Stay safe❣️
Safe travels Rah.
I just showed your post to my husband, who is very much like you in so many ways, Casco, but especially as to the abilities and skills which you’ve outlined. He has done everything you have on our house in Wales. I’ve watched him do it, so my admiration for your knowledge and your devotion to being sure your bride is secure in the home you both share has no limit. You are a treasure. And that is a fact indeniable, my friend.
You are a blessed woman Bet to have such a wonderful and talented husband and he is likewise to have such an incredible woman as yourself. It does make life’s journey more pleasurable,no? Indeed it does! 🙂
Well, I’ll treasure those words forever my friend. I’ve got storage in my heart for just that purpose. Thank you, thank you.😘🙏
🙂
” . . .but am going to hot stucco prime and repaint the exterior of the house . . .”
I need to do the same thing to my ’29 stucco house. Only I’ve decided to go 3rd world. If you travel to, say, rural Mexico or a similar place you’ll notice that simple, uncomplicated, dead-cheap whitewash is commonly used to spruce up stucco dwellings. Just wash down, slap it on and it looks doggone good. 😉
In a primarily dry climate, yes.Unfortunately I’m in tropical SE Florida and due to mold and mildew growth,I have to pressure clean on a regular basis. That “whitewash” would disintegrate in a heart beat. When I lived in California,we didn’t even know what pressure cleaning was…lol.Just water down some paint and spray it on.Viola!
W
hat we need is an adhesive whitewash. Oh, yeah. That’s called paint . . . 🙂
Lol! Yep.
After reading this…I gotta go lie down. As I look around to all the DIY stuff I did over 40 years I’m amazed I actually did all that. Keep on, keepin on!!
You bet…keep on truckin’ yourself amigo. 🙂
Ugh…you be careful on that roof!!🙏
The secret is good ladders. Expensive yes, but very safe. 🙂
And realizing that one is not as dexterous as they once were so taking extra care. Falls that we once walked off can now cause serious damage. So I take it slow and easy.
Some things are just worth the price.
And our national strategic oil reserves – which are meant for our use in emergency – are at their lowest levels in 37 years.
Have a blessed Sunday, Treepers. Tonight I was thinking about prayer and how I sometimes can feel His presence. As long as I can remember Our Lord has been with me. When I speak with Our Father, it’s like having a conversation with Father. It’s intimate and trusting. I always know He’s there. And, when he chooses, I feel his presence in my heart. Do I think I’m deserving of this kind of love. No, I don’t. I know I’m a sinner, know that I sometimes displease Him. But I also know that if you have faith, if you believe in Him, if you are honest and ask forgiveness, he won’t leave you. Our Lord watches over us always.
Howdy Garrison I know Jesus walks with me! 🙂 🙂
This is always wonderful news, Jay. 🙂
My Mothers favorite hymn 😁
I swear you’re ghosting me on the internet or something with The Parting Glass post there. I too am reuniting with my vaguely Irish roots while I try again to learn Gaeilge again again.
Also that “Faures Requiem” is beautiful. There’s something about classical music and opera and all of it that just cannot be matched by anything short of 70s era classic rock. Something about a room full of individuals completely and utterly dedicated to their craft really has no equal in other popular music. It’s like hearing true artists make art vs, just some schlub doing a catchy tune.
🙂
Sublime, Garrison. You know how I feel about Voces8. Their voices are perfect for this part of Faure’s Requiem. Ethereal. Peaceful. Angelic. Perfection. And their voices surely God given. They bring Him with them whatever they sing.
I remember coming across them first a couple of years ago. I was transfixed. Then their performances were not widely available, but now I am so gratified to see so many more.
I feel the same way, Bet. 🙂
Yes sir. They elevate as no other ensemble I’ve heard.
🙂
Why I trust Joe Bastardi:
Joe Bastardi is a hurricane forecaster extraordinaire. And that Joe has been at odds with NOAA forecasts many times in the past.
Further, Weatherbell makes its money in the commercial market where performance determines if the company survives and prospers and not in government where toting the party line is rewarded. If NOAA was as good at their jobs as they should be, then companies like Weatherbell would not exist!
That is not to say there aren’t many dedicated and very competent people at NOAA. It’s their political bosses that drive that train though.
Joe looks at various models and being in the business for a long time also has a fantastic store of empirical knowledge so he knows what years weather patterns in the past are similar to the current ones. So knowing what occurred due to certain weather patterns in the past he can develop a forecast that is often superior to what the weather agencies of any government puts out.
For example a couple years ago he forecasted the arctic blast that hit Texas a full 10 days before it happened. I watched and NOAA didn’t catch on until it was 3 days out.
No forecaster ever gets it right all the time. But if I had to bet my life on a forecast, it would be Joes. And a lot of industries, and agricultural concerns and various municipalities apparently value Weatherbells forecasts enough to pay for the service.
Now, if your very life depended on the weather forecast who would you put your trust in?
Joe. Been listening to him for decades.
I have followed him for a long time … he always made the weather ebb and flow as nature does ..very logical reports…
🇺🇸💪😀👍
We just saw a blast from the past. 1988 in Britain. It was a BBC weather report with their in the know weatherman Michael Fish. During his report in which he was telling one and all how glorious the weather was going to be, he said that he’d just had a message from a viewer telling him cyclonic type storms were at that moment uprooting trees and downing power lines all around her.
The worthless excuse of a weather person told his audience essentially to “pay no attention to the man behind the curtain”, that it couldn’t possibly be true, that also was calm and well.
But it wasn’t.
The woman who phoned in was tragically telling the truth. The next day the whole of England lay in utter devastation. I lived there at the time and I remember it well. What an incompetent fool that man looked.
So I agree with you. I’ve seen the worst of them…and I see Joe Bastardi, the most accurate and trustworthy weatherman in the business.
“I stopped at one of them ‘ole highway places . . .”
“Brand new laydown Rambler.”
“I been runnin’ with other wimmin’ but I don’t love no one but you . . .”
One more . . .
I Love Honky Tonk (always thought of it as a style of Piano playing). I also Love the Blues. I guess I thought they were unique genres, but what do I know?
I do know the perfect country western song though 😊😃😜😎
You Never Even Called Me By My Name

PRAISE THE ALMIGHTY
Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul.
While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:
Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:
Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners:
The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:
The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.
— Psalm 146, KJV
1. Praise the Almighty, my soul, adore Him! Yes, I will laud Him untill death;
With songs and anthems I come before Him as long as He allows me breath.
From Him my life and all things came; Bless, O my soul, His holy name.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
2. Trust not in rulers; they are but mortal; Earthborn they are and soon decay.
Vain are their counsels at life’s last portal, when the dark grave engulfs its prey.
Since mortals can no help afford, place all your trust in Christ, our Lord.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
3. Blessed, oh, blessed are they forever whose help is from the Lord Most High.
Whom from salvation can nothing sever, and who in hope to Christ draw nigh,
To all who trust in Him, our Lord will aid and counsel now afford.
4. Penitent sinners, for mercy crying, pardon and peace from Him obtain;
Ever the wants of the poor supplying, their faithful God He will remain.
He helps his children in distress, the widows and the fatherless.

Just to be clear, the “IRA” mentioned in this song is the “Old IRA”, not to be confused with the modern terrorist socialists that like to plant bombs randomly. The Old IRA was simply about getting their country free from an occupying force as it had been for centuries.
Everyone needs a little kick in the pants once in a while to remind them they are indeed a part of the equation when it comes to controlling your nation’s destiny. When the Irish finally stood up, they gained their independence and didn’t have to fight near as hard as we did, although they suffered more for not trying sooner.
Nice to see You hanging out a bit Keln ! 👋
Always interested in what You have to say 😀
Don’t be such a stranger 😊
Lately I sip a little whiskey and join my fellow Treepers on the weekends. So I haven’t been that much of a stranger the past few weeks 😉
Like any movement; the Old and the Provo IRA had it’s share of communists. Your labeling of the Provo IRA as terrorists is just simpleton revisionism.
I knew/know many in the Provo IRA. They are not Marxist terrorists. They truly want/wanted an Ireland independent of British/Protestant rule. The catholic grievances of brutal British / Protestant rule in Northern Ireland was very real. Especially the time frame 1950s-1980s.
The protestant nationalists had their “terrorist” para military – Ulster Volunteer Force not to mention the Royal Constabulary. They were a brutal bunch of thugs. Many believe The Troubles became violent with the UVF killing peaceful protestors and burning out catholic families and business in Derry, August 1969, aka Battle of Bogside.
Smearing civil rights movements with “marxist” / “terrorist” labels is as old as the hills. Many in the US did the same with MLK and the 60s civil rights movement.
A Free Ireland Now and In The Future.
Ugly cuss indeed, though I don’t hold it against you as I’m one too. It’s kind of hard to treat early commies the same as more modern commies, but the Provincial IRA weren’t commies in any case. They were National Socialists. They said as much, and some even flat out worshiped Hitler back then, even though the man probably would have seen them as mongrels of some sort or other. Hateful people always hate others given the chance I suppose. It’s all about the hate and nothing about what actually matters. Gotta keep that flame of hate burning to do the things they did.
My view on them maybe simple as you say. It’s merely based on an old friend of mine dead now who was a “provy IRA” once upon a time. Basically, as he saw it, they wanted a united Ireland. A noble goal surely. But the problem was they didn’t accept the independence Ireland got before and strictly said the government 3 years before that which was newly established when the Sienn Feinn won their vote was the only government they would accept ( a government that only existed as the current one…which they refused to recognize mind you), then they went further to basically redefine what that government was and what it stood for, which eventually had nothing to do with any polity in Ireland in the early 20th century.
They were idiot students fired up as a mob by so-called “intellectuals” as many such organizations who turn to terror are. They were fools. They never did a thing just for the craic, never gave a shite about anyone, and couldn’t be bothered if anything they ever did accomplished a thing other than to “make an name for themselves”. No matter how many innocents died for it.
Bottom line is, the Provincial IRA were enemies to everyone and their entire basis was built on lies and bullshit. Absolute fools. And anyone who celebrates them is a fool. They were delusional, and the few that still exist are doubly so.
Great speech earlier this week at CPAC Texas;
by arguably the best world leader currently in office.

Prayer In The Father’s House
Wist ye not that I must be in My Father’s house? — Luke 2:49 (RV)
Our Lord’s childhood was not immature manhood; our Lord’s childhood is an eternal fact. Am I a holy innocent child of God by identification with my Lord and Saviour? Do I look upon life as being in my Father’s house? Is the Son of God living in His Father’s house in me?
The abiding Reality is God, and His order comes through the moments. Am I always in contact with Reality, or do I only pray when things have gone wrong, when there is a disturbance in the moments of my life? I have to learn to identify myself with my Lord in holy communion in ways some of us have not begun to learn as yet. “I must be about My Father’s business” (KJV) — live the moments in My Father’s house.
Narrow it down to your individual circumstances — are you so identified with the Lord’s life that you are simply a child of God, continually talking to Him and realizing that all things come from His hands? Is the Eternal Child in you living in the Father’s house? Are the graces of His ministering life working out through you in your home, in your business, in your domestic circle? Have you been wondering why you are going through the things you are? It is not that you have to go through them, it is because of the relation into which the Son of God has come in His Father’s providence in your particular sainthood. Let Him have His way, keep in perfect union with Him.
The vicarious life of your Lord is to become your vital simple life; the way He worked and lived among men must be the way He lives in you.

We can understand the attributes of God in other ways, but we can only understand the Father’s heart in the Cross of Christ.
Good morning Cat! ❤️

Good morning,Cat💖 . I regret to say I am not one. Mea culpa. Or should I say I was, but this thread today has been so full, it has taken me quite a while to get down here. Everyone has taken up all the pews in our small church, where I am so positive God Himself has blessed us all.🙏
This was a wonderful devotional for Sunday. I can imagine seeing him delivering it from the pulpit. Very much needed. Thank you.🤗
Hi Betsy!!! You need to wear something bright so you’re friends can spot you better in our crowded church 🤭
Have a delightful, most blessed day, my friend ❤️
Oh bless, Cat! I think I have maybe two bright things in my closet. I need to dig them out.
But if I can’t, I’ll say this…in Wales everyone in the town we lived near always said they could hear me before they saw me. You might just have to spot me like that😁😘
Deal!!!
You bellow and I’ll be in orange so we can hone in to meet up, next week in church. 😉 I’ve heard your voice can be heard so well, guess it’s true 😂 😘
🙂 😉
Hey….I don’t see any hummingbirds in pic. I didn’t touch em. 😉 😘 ❤️
They asked for privacy while showering! 🙂 🙂
😂
😂😂😂 Hoping no unishowers!! A girl (hummingbird) needs her privacy.

Patsy Cline reaches number one on the Billboard Country chart with “I Fall To Pieces”. It was one of the slowest ascending records in music history, taking over six months to peak from when it was first released on January 30th. Although it was a tune that Patsy initially wanted no part of, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it at #238 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time in 2004.

This week is Isaiah 60.
Isaiah 60:22
22 The least one shall become a clan,
and the smallest one a mighty nation;
I am the Lord;
in its time I will hasten it.
Isaiah 60 is a glorious passage about God’s coming kingdom. It begins ominously with a warning of darkness:
Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
2 For behold, darkness shall cover the earth,
and thick darkness the peoples;
but the Lord will arise upon you,
and his glory will be seen upon you.
God’s work for us is often unseen. We are covered with this darkness that covers the people of the earth. God is preparing that great revelation, but people are in darkness until it is revealed. This chapter is about that revelation.
Verse 22 is the final proclamation of the prophecy. God speaks of the great principle of last first and first last of which Jesus spoke several times. In this case it is the insignificant one becoming a family and small country becoming a great nation. In the darkness leading up, we can not see it clearly.
There is in Verse 22 a great exclamation of hope. “In its time, I will hasten it.” We struggle with our perception that things are not moving fast enough, because for us they are not. God recognizes this and says that when the time comes, he will speed up the process. I wonder what that means. I suspect that a hastening God will seem amazingly fast indeed. When it comes, it will come quickly.
Thank you, Vibeman🙏 Very much needed in these uncertain and fearful times.
PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
May we all be imbued with that essential ad most precious attribute…patience…knowing He is working all things for good.🙏
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

Pacific Typhoons Defy Climate Experts’ Dire Forecasts…Trending Downward 70 Years! – Watts Up With That?
And this year, like last is liable to be a very below average year for Typhoons.
Even NOAA admits it.
As I write this the ACE for the NW Pacific is at 28% of the average for this time of year.
Since the largest part of the Global ACE is derived from the NW Pacific basin, as long as it is depressed, the Global ACE is likely to continue to show below average numbers.
The last thing the alarmists want is to bring attention to those facts.

I just spent more than 1/2 hour picking up sticks out of my yard and the yard of the widow lady next door. Phillis is like 98 years old and despite pressure from her family to go to an assisted living home, she seems determined that when she leaves the home the she and her deceased beloved husband built and lived in since the early 50’s, it will be feet first.
We moved in about three years before her husband Hank succumbed to cancer. Since then Steve and I, but mostly Steve, have done what we can for her to keep the place up. She can’t afford to have her many trees trimmed so when we get strong thunderstorms like we had last night her yard has a lot of deadfall in it.
Hank served as a Navigator in a B-17 in 1942-43 in the Mighty 8th Airforce. During that period when the bombers did some deep penetration raids beyond the range of fighter escort only 2 out of 10 would make it home. I was glad I got to know him, though the time was far too short.
God bless you and Steve, rah. I hope that’s exactly how she leaves her beloved home, which wouldn’t be possible without the two of you.
