As each batch of ballots is counted in Washington State’s 3rd congressional district, MAGA candidate Joe Kent has gained significant ground.
Republican Joe Kent is now within striking distance of primarying Jaime Herrera Beutler, with approximately 30,000 ballots remaining to be counted.
Jamie Herrera Beutler, who voted to impeach President Trump and is one of the MAGA targets for 2022, now has 41,603 votes. Trump-endorsed Joe Kent has moved from a several thousand vote deficit, into the latest result of 41,346 votes. The difference is now down to 257 votes.
Washington State has that jungle primary voting system where the top two candidate’s face-off in the general election. According to Kent on Twitter, there are 30,000 ballots left to be counted. Prayers up!! Joe Kent might just pull off this victory.
If the next batch of 30,000 ballots, carries the same ratio as today’s batch of 22,000 ballots, Joe Kent will take the lead.

Voters need to stop voting stupidly. They cannot simply vote for their favorite in a primary, they have to vote for the best person who can actually win the primary. Polls should have helped voters understand who could win and who could not. All of the votes for everyone other than the current top 3 were wasted.
Someone in the Waukesha rally thread stated that they might vote for a certain candidate in the Governor primary. That candidate is polling around 3%. No chance of winning. So a vote for that candidate is a useless vote. Sorry to seem rude with this example but it’s so important for people to vote strategically and unemotionally to get rid of RINOs and Dems. It can be done if we’re all in agreement on the strategy.

I too could not vote for him – a loyal Turkish citizen who supports Erdogan who is an Islamic supremist. Agree as well that Kathy Barnette was the obvious candidate. Think that Oz had no chance in primary without the Trump endorsement, and also assess that this seat will go Dem and it did not have to happen.
It is hard to assess the “on the ground” in states not my own, but notwithstanding the Oz example, it does seem that political ego, swamp interference, and media malfeasance gets people to miss the need to vote for the change candidate – who is endorsed, who has the chance to win.
One rule of mine is – vote out the incumbent, unless I am sure of the positive evidence that he stands up when needed. There are contradictory issues here, and the GOPe are masters of taking advantage.

[For out-of-staters: there are 39 counties in WA – King County being the deep blue home of Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond (Microsoft), etc.). And thing’s have been getting worse as Pierce and Spokane counties are now more blue than red.

I lived in Portland almost all my life…born there and moved back when our daughter was 1 year old. Shocking to see how bad it got and how fast. Downtown, that used to be so nice, is destroyed. A friend of mine who is from generations of affluent Portlanders has just escaped to TX – she decided she couldn’t raise her kids in Portland. They had to walk past homeless and needles to get up the steps to school. The thing that I saw was that Portland was just too stupid to ever vote in the people (if you could find them) to fix this. I lost hope and left.

There was a social media whisper campaign against Joe Kent. One of the accusations was that he voted for Bernie. It’s almost impossible to convince many WA Republicans that an imperfect candidate is better than an obviously terrible one.
I don’t live in the 3rd CD anymore and do not know which Republican candidates (if any) were endorsed by the state party. Anyone can claim to be a Republican in the Primary. That does not mean they are a Republican or that they are endorsed by the party.

Ranked choice voting is evil.
It is NOT ranked choice. It is a top 2 “jungle primary”. The advantage of this system is that an independent or 3rd party candidate could advance to the November election. It is also a potential exit from the existing major political parties which have both failed here. We may have a non-partisan candidate running against an Inslee appointee for Secretary of State.
Whether or not you think the existing major political parties have failed, they are still crucial for determining House and Senate majorities. I’m going to be so bold to say we will never see any House or Senate majorities other than Dem or Republican. Even the so-called “Independents” in the Senate are siding with the Dems, and for some reason that’s allowed in the calculation of who has the majority. There are actually 50 GOP Senators and only 48 Dem Senators, but there are 2 Indies and they are siding with the Dems. And Kamala is the tie-breaker. I hate that the Indies are allowed to side with anyone.
The independents I am talking about are for state and local office. In western WA state, the only way to break the Dem monopoly is a with non-Republican. We have excellent R candidates but they can never get more than 40% of the vote. I’m seeing a lot of Democrats abandoning their leftist ideology. Some even attending Constitutional study groups and getting really pissed off at the LGBTQ+ pride takeover of every public space.
This scam of “counting” ballots overnight and into the witching hours of the morning is old as the hills.

OK, it appears Washington does not do ranked-choice voting, at least not for federal House and Senate races.
There is no ranked choice voting in state or federal elections in Washington State. If it exists anywhere in WA, it is for local elections.

Does anyone recall elections from prior decades? Aside from recounts, does anyone recall basic first counts taking a week or even longer? Did we not used to know who won on election night or perhaps the next morning?
I recall fairly speedy counts, usually by the time one retires for the night all is decided.
After the Bush-Gore hanging chad debacle, things changed.
Bush’s re-election night they dragged it into the next day just out of spite.

Prior decades didn’t allow you to mail in ballots for a week after the election. When you have a week to produce the ballots you need to win, and you know how many you need because in-person voting is over on election day, and the USPS handles the mailed ballots and the USPS union endorses Democrat candidates, well, what does that sound like a recipe for?

Right; we knew that night.
But the machines that were used were nothing more than a big tabulating machine with paper inserts of candidates and then at the end of the night; the election supervisor of the election inspectors for each district, just opened the back of the machine and called in the total to the county board of elections. Then the results were reported unverified immediately.
Then, members from the county board of elections, (a team of about 3 people) made the rounds to all elections districts and picked up and verified the elections results and Sheriff’s deputy escorted the team from the Board of Elections.
All was then checked and candidates challenged over the next week locally and the following total tabulations were made and transmitted to the State Board of Elections.
Total time used was under 2 weeks tops….due to challenges, recounts, etc…etc… Otherwise it was known very late election night; like around 11:30 pm. Most of us active and young stayed up at election headquarters, etc., etc… as we aged, we went to bed about 10 pm and woke up knowing who won..but we never, ever had an election ‘season’ ..N.O.T. E.V.E.R….
That phenomena was initiated during the Obama years…like a lot of weird stuff…See how that worked out?
And it was all over until the next election in 2 years or whatever..

Washington takes “top 2” in the primaries. There were two viable Republican candidates trying to unseat JHB. Kent was endorsed by Trump, but he’s a recent transplant to the district and he’s on record voting for Bernie. Plus he is former CIA. The other candidate, Heidi St. John, is a long-time local and consistent Conservative. So Republican votes are split 20% JHB, 20% Kent, 15% St. John, 30% Dem. Trump and Kent had met before, which helped him secure the endorsement. Kent’s wife was killed by a suicide bomber in Syria in 2019. He played this up in his campaign, but also seems to have moved on. IMHO, Trump probably endorsed the wrong candidate. Well now, it would be quite the feat for Trump to have 435 rallies to cover every primary in every district in a 6-8 month period. Plus another 30 +/- for Senators each primary. Plus another 20-30 state governors for each primary. Then of course there are the general elections.

Former WA resident here: the whole mail-in system is rigged, and has been for years.
257 votes is statistically a dead heat. I do not believe that any group of people is that evenly divided. If so, the margin of victory would be smaller than the margin of error, and that is impossible to calculate. In other words, it would literally be too close to call.

When you have a (R) splitter candidate in the mix and siphon off 29,000 votes, it is possible to have it this close.

Washington state has cheating down to a science. They do it very quietly and expect no one to do much about it – because historically (like when Christine Gregoire stole it from Dino Rossi) virtually nothing was done.
In 2020 Washington turned red. Trump won. Culp won the governorship and others down ticket won. But it was all stolen.
Lawsuits were tried but cheated candidates didn’t have enough money to keep fighting the system. And the citizens became demoralized.
None of the numbers we see can be trusted as true. Our SOS is crooked. Our AG is crooked. And we have machines
