I know there is a certain degree of natural selection at play here; but I have a really hard time standing by and letting any child be subjected to this evil, even if delivered by their parents.

We know from human history, that adversity is a far better builder of character than affluence. There is something that only suffering can do to perfect one’s soul, in fact for Christians it’s a demonstrated path to ultimate salvation.
The key though is to somehow survive that childhood adversity and then go on to inspire others.
Without good parenting the child needs good teachers or good doctors or someone else in their orbit who can change their situation. Sadly, the professionals we used to rely on are all out to lunch, too.

She fell down a staircase probably because she had cardiac arrest at the top. Did she have the vaccine recently?
My wife 83 coerced by nurse friend got the shot. A few days later she was standing next to me at kitchen counter and just passed out fell to floor and hit her head. I was able to get her up in a couple minutes. She went to bed and recovered ok. Since then I have forbid her to use the stairs..

My husband and I just got back from the 73rd Miami Valley Steam Thresher Parade held in Plain City, Ohio. Plain City is a farming community located West of Columbus, Ohio.
What is a Steam Thresher you may ask. Well, Steam Threshers were used at the turn of the century to harvest wheat. They are big, noisy, black smoke belching wonderful machines from the past. Not only were Steam Threshers in the parade, also a Steam Roller, old John Deere tractors, Massey Ferguson tractors, Ford tractors, Oliver tractors, Minneapolis Moline tractors, Case Tractors, International Harvestor tractors, Cockshutt tractors (yes, that is their name) and numerous others.
Then there was the horse brigade, numerous floats with festival queens, old trucks/cars and locals who just wanted to be in the parade. Of course many families attended along with numerous children who were thrilled to grab the candy that is thrown from the passing vehicles. There is still a large Mennonite population around Plain City and no one has told them about limiting population growth.
The festival goes on for 4 days at Pastime Park in Plain City. There is a steam operated wood mill, vendors which sell everything you need if you farmed at the turn of the century, tractor pulls, all kinds of country fried food and people having a good time.
We usually go every year. However, it was cancelled two years ago due to Covid and last year we could not go due to health issues. I spent Summers on my grandparents farm so attending this event is a very emotional one for me; brings back many happy memories.

If I recall correctly, on Labor Day weekend (late August), near Mt. Pleasant Iowa there is annual ‘ol Threshers’ days.

Uh oh……I have quite a few shares of AT&T. I’ve had it and the baby bells and back to AT&T and Verizon since I got 5 shares when I was born in 1966 from my grandmother and 50 shares in her will in 1982. Then I got alot more in my mom’s will in 2011. So, I have a few (and get quite a few each quarter with dividends). Anyway, since 2011 dividend rate was at $0.43 and climbs pretty much every year to 2021 at $0.52 and even February 2022 was $0.52.
The 5/2/2022 dividend rate went all the way back to $0.2775. That’s way back to early 2000s or 1990s. We in deep doo doo.
And yes, maybe I could have gotten out and such, but that would be a major tax headache of decades of stuff.
Verizon has stayed at $0.64 dividend rate.
Well, it does say the dividend dropped due to the Warner Bros/Discovery spinoff. So, I guess that’s not as bad as I thought.
