In 1992, faced with a choice between Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush, 19,743,821 principled protesters voted for Ross Perot, and delivered the presidency to Bill Clinton. They certainly made their dissatisfaction with the choices known. But they also empowered the corrupt Clinton dynasty, which still plagues American politics 30 years later. Some Democrats are even talking about another Hillary run in 2024. Others want Chelsea to get into politics. It gives me night terrors just thinking about it. So, how did that protest vote from 30 years ago work out for America? Wasn’t so harmless, was it?

Makes no sense. DC doesn’t raise its own National Guard. They are saying the mayor of DC will be allowed to command National Guard units from other states that are made available to him. This is an authority that is supposed to be used by the President.
It will be found to be unconstitutional. DC is not a State. It does not have a Sovereign Executive. The President is the Sovereign of the DC Military. This is a violation of the Separation Clause.
The States should refuse to send them. Whatever corrupt crackhead DC has as mayor should not be commanding National Guard troops.
Do the States have any say in this?

Our Great American President Donald J Trump was basically a swamp prisoner in his first term. Every person (swamp rat), institution, and alphabet agency even the grounds keeper was against him/us. Though President Trump won a massive landslide victory in 2020, the swamp had to act and in desperation and went for the steal. Wow.. I just suffered through my first Charlie “Party Fluid” Crist for Governor commercial. Someone needs to ask that POS how he thinks anyone will vote for him being that the three years he pretended to be Governor(the last year was spent trying to get into maobama’s administration) he couldn’t be bothered to close the “Pill Mill Loophole” in Florida Law that allowed doctors and pharmacies in this State to get nearly a quarter of Americans hooked on Oxycodone. I was on pain management at the time, on the frontlines of the “Opioid Epidemic” in Orlando aka “Oxy-lando” aka “O’D-lando” and was disgusted by what I saw in the waiting room of my doctor every month, able bodied young people nodded out on each other, impossibly skinny street people smoking Newport 100’s just outside the door of the office waiting for their appointment to “re-up” on pills. I will be sure to heckle Charlie at one of his Campaign events.
We did away with pill mills and got a street drug problem with heroin, flakka, bath salts, and fentanyl. I was in on writing the legislation to end pill mills and discussed with the GC at FDLE the likely outcome of outright banning pill mills. Guess what? My direst predictions did come true, sadly enough.
I’d rather a family member with an addiction problem get access to medically produced and prescribed drugs than street drugs cut with rat poison and who knows what. Just like I’d rather a family member with an addiction problem drink bottled and bonded and not hooch from an illegal still with who knows what adulterating it.
Addicts will addict. Now they addict on worse drugs where we can’t keep tabs on them. They get no help at all now.

So many people were exposed to “Doctor Dope” that never would have had a taste. The Cartels were paying attention, as street level sales of heroin plummeted during the Oxy tsunami. The day Rick Scott’s registry went into effect, 5 dollar bags of “china white” heroin cut with minute amounts of fentanyl were in every neighborhood in Orange County from Dr. Phillips to UCF, and from Seminole County to Osceola. I was just speaking about this with a relative with a painful hip. They would agree with you. They say doctors today are fearful of offering real pain relief and I do wonder if people are driven to the street for an answer. Pain is perhaps the greatest motivator…. that’s why torture has been historically used.
I would imagine that the pain patients and those who just got Rx Oxy for the high and who now have habit and need something to replace it all have to find relief somewhere.
Was there a problem? Of course there was a problem. Did they go too far? Absolutely. The Florida Legislature as per the norm took a 500 megaton nuke to a rogue tank.
What happened AG, is those Pain Clinics would give you an MRI for about 400$ CASH, and the “Doc” would find something wrong with every one who came through the door. A co worker of mine would go to a certain doctor (he had nothing wrong with him except a love for drugs) and be given (90) 30 milligram Percocet(no time release, no NSAIDS), and (90) 2 milligram Xanax bars per month. He would do this at 4 or 5 different shady doctors a month.

What you describe is what I would hear from my sister-in-law. Catherine (Cathy) Jordan. It was her doctor pushing drugs on her that made her become an outspoken voice for people who did not want to be put on addicting pharmaceuticals. I do not know much about the organization NORML other they lost when they went in front of the SCOTUS to try and have cannabis removed from the list of whatever lists of drugs it was listed on.
I knew who you were talking about in our first exchange. Many of the same RINOs that couldn’t be bothered to stop the Pills, allowed Big Pharma to write our insanely restrictive Medical Cannabis Amendment to prevent as many Seasoned Citizens and chronic pain patients (Medicare, Medicaid) from being to access the plant. The outrageous prices and inability to find gainful employment with “The Card” have pushed many back to blackmarket weed, which runs the risk of being cross contaminated with fentanyl. Now the State of Florida is perfectly fine with making tens of millions of dollars per year licensing a product that basically strips patients of their right to cross State lines with their medicine, cannot hold a job at an employer who adheres to the Federal Drugfree Workplace Act, and cannot posses a firearm to protect their families and/or property due to cannabis being Schedule 1. Wow, I’m currently on episode 9 of 17 in the Robert Breedlove interview with Michael Saylor. I highly recommend watch all of them (search for Robert Breedlove and go to his channel, the Saylor videos are from 1 year ago July 2021, 1 thru 9 are all together, the next 8 are spread out). Also, the videos are chartered and I recommend skipping Breedlove’s intro and just get started listening to Saylor, usually about 4 to 6 minute intro he video.
In the link below Saylor is talking about inflation and how it’s easy to not have “inflation” if you get to through out inflationary items in the index. He says there needs to be a paradigm shift in how people look at inflation. For instance, a 22 year old can buy early retirement with a government bond. He uses the example of the 10 year treasury note paying 140 basis points, so $30 million would yield $60,000 a year, compare that to at 7% interest you could get relatively risk free $70,000 a year on only $1 million – going from $1 million to $30 million to buy early retirement is what real inflation is.
He said 200 years ago everyone agreed bleeding out George Washington to try to save his life was the best thing to do. Before 1900, everyone agreed it was impossible for humans to fly. Centuries ago everyone agreed the Sun revolves around the Earth. I’ll add, just like today everyone agrees a vaccine is necessary to stop a pandemic.

As my professor of Ancient Roman and Byzantine History explained over 5 decades ago, as a teacher, he does no “real” work in the economic sense of producing a physical object which somebody will want or need to buy.
Teaching is a service, whose “product” cannot be physically measured. Its value can, however, be defined in various ways.
A government employee like a police officer also provides a service whose “product” cannot be physically measured. However, most people would have no trouble defining the value of that service!
However, a government bureaucrat, whose job is e.g. to measure the amount of mulch needed to protect the tushies of toddlers at the end of a playground slide, might have great difficulty justifying his $50,000 a year salary!
(I am NOT making that up: Mrs. Ausonius, 25 years ago, when she was a grade-school principal, received a large booklet from OSHA when the school put in a new playground, a booklet which contained that rule!))

My immigrant father was a well educated but also gritty self reliant, primarily self taught engineer who pulled himself out of poverty and the destruction of his country by Hitler. He did not know it but he taught me the most valuable skills and aptitudes I have.

Ironically, an engineer friend of his had decided to teach high school chemistry after retiring and I unknowingly ended up in his class. He saw me struggling with chemistry and algebra and pulled me aside a few days a week after school to watch how I approached problems. Looking back, I now know what he did. He was teaching me quantitative analysis instead of algebra and chemistry.
It opened my brain. He taught me how to learn. I’m sure I was not the only one. He produced producers.

Why should government workers (not all but state, local, etc.) get private health plans for life and not be forced onto Medicare?
Why should nearly every federal employee in DC make 6 figures before even counting their benefits?
Why should government employees retire after 20 0r 30 years with full pensions while the people who pay them work until they die?
Why should anyone be supported for the rest of their lives by taxpayers at the age of 38, 40, 42 or even 50/55?
Why should government employees be paid for all their accrued sick leave sometimes accounting for tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of dollars at retirement?
Why should teachers work an eight month a year job, but demand FT pay?
Why should government employees be allowed to buy back service years for their overly generous pension? In many jurisdictions, as a government worker you can take years off to do something else and come back and for a nominal cost buy “years of service.” For example you work 10 years, then take 10 years off to stay home with kids, you can then come back buy those years back and only work another 10 years for that 30 year full pension.
And so much more – it’s outright theft.

Reminds me of a time many, many years ago living in Rock Springs, WY. I ran around with a couple of the wild horse catchers who were responsible for rounding them up. Those were some seriously tough and crazy cowboys. Being a Cowboy in WY is no joke. Fun times. Chris LeDoux was alive, I was single, and we were all 10′ tall, invisible, and bullet proof.
