I live in Ontario, Canada, we had a Provincial election yesterday. I am happy in a way that the Conservatives won a majority government, not so glad with Doug Ford at the helm. I am thrilled that the Liberal creep didn’t even win in his own riding Toronto and is already stepping down as leader of the Lieberal Party. NDP bimbo was shedding a few tears as they did not do as well as they were sure they would, hence she announced her stepping down as the leader of that party. The good news is that more voted Conservatives this time around than 4 years ago. I hope and pray that is a telling the way the country will go in 3 years, kick Trudope out. I wish it was sooner, one never knows, but as of late he is hiding where ever he goes. terrified of his citizens waiting to meet him and not a greeting he would want and expect.

My .22 WMR is a pretty mean gun. Now, for big game it wouldn’t be my go to, but the pistol version is nice and concealable. The rifle version is great for beavers, bobcats, etc.
My little Kel-Tec PMR30 is really sweet, 30 rounds of 22 mag as fast as you can pull the trigger, with extra clip gives you 60 rounds in about 20 seconds. It weighs 14 ounces. Only $400.00, comes with 2 mags and case.
Thats a gun I’ve looked into but have had issues finding it locally (usually told it’s availability is unknown from Kel Tec), and the cheapest price I’ve seen if I could get it was $549 at Academy Sports. I have an 8 shot revolver and a semi auto rifle. I didn’t really get them for anything other then plinking on the farm, but found them incredibly useful after shooting critters.

Why did it take the British ten years to return to the Sudan after Gordon was killed? It was because the British Prime Minister wanted no part of the cost involved in sending a British Army there. The sentencing is punitive, the overwhelming majority of protestors having zero criminal history, not even traffic tickets. What is going on in DC is commensurate with what you expect in a totalitarian state. I totally agree and just cannot understand how we let our so called judicial system do this to the J6 protesters. As I understand it there may be about 100 people, give or take, still in jail for over a year without charges, bail or trial dates set for a speedy trial. Many, if not all, are political prisoners-Castro would be proud!
Is there no recourse to this. Does the Supreme Court have any jurisdiction over a justice system going totally corrupt. Why don’t we have Republicans and an honest media (oxymoron) screaming off the charts on how this is being handled.

I think scandalprof is pretty much right. This is one thing that just might be very important to protect. Without healthy bee populations we endanger ourselves because we need them to pollinate all kinds of plant life.
Not having read the small print, I’m not sure if there are sneaky progressive tricks written in to this law that seems of good intent on the surface. Bees are being decimated and are on very shaky ground as a species right now. Not a thing we should ignore really. What is causing the problem is something to keep investigating.
So, why not “hold” that wild bees are not fish, and that the Legislature is still completely free to amend the legislation to include wild bees that destroy the domestic bee population needed for agriculture?

If you like reading books on American history with the Indian wars, I highly recommend “Wilderness War” by Allan Eckert which was about the Iroquois in NY state and the General Sullivan expedition to destroy them.
He also wrote a biography of Tecumseh who was the ablest and far seeing of all the Amerindian leaders.
Also saw a documentary on Lozan a medicine woman and warrior of the Chiricahua Apaches and Victorio’s much younger sister. Those Apaches were tough soldiers. Remind me of the Rhodesian special forces in their skill sets

So I’ve been thinking about this and wanted to get people’s opinions. I am a huge Constitution guy and a pro gun supporter but does anyone think the 18 to 20 year olds of today are anything like they were 70 to 80 years ago? I have a 19 and an 18 year old and I constantly tell them that we are in big trouble if we ever have to rely on today’s 18 year olds to storm a beach to stop evil and save democracy. Back then people were getting married at 18, 19, 20 etc and starting families. Now? LMAO most live at home until they are 30! An entire 2 or 3 generations have been codified and pussified (everyone gets a trophy). Does anyone think that these kids (yes kids, not men) who play video war games in their basements half the day should be able to own a gun? Some ideas:
1) What if we raise the age to own a gun to 21? Unless there is a co-signer? A kid almost can never get a loan without a parent co-signing. What if a kid wants to buy a gun under 21 ok fine but the parent must “co-sign and be fully responsible for that gun.
2) If we raise the age to 21 because they are not mature enough like they used to be under 21 then wouldn’t it make sense they are not mature enough to vote, get drafted, etc, etc. Raise the age of “adult” status to 21?
3) I’ve been saying this for sometime now, you want to do away with gun violence…mandatory sentences for anyone that is in possession of a gun that is not registered in their name that commits a crime 5 years in jail. If the gun is used in said crime mandatory 15 years in jail. If someone is killed death penalty…life for a life. This will tie the hands of liberal judges and prosecutors who do NOT punish criminals with guns like they should.
4) Stop and Frisk should be nationwide ( I don’t give a crap if they think it’s racist) blacks probably want it more then most people, harden school security, arm teachers if they want, stop with the pussifying of our youth

I think the whole age thing, 18 vs 21 came to a head during the 1970’s when 18 year olds were being drafted to go to fight in Vietnam but were not allowed to vote – which made a heck of a lot of sense when the voting age was lowered to amend that disparity.
Now that it is an all-voluntary military if the rights to own firearms is raised to the age of 21 then children should not be allowed to voluntarily enlist until they are 21 and have a few more years of life experience before being expected to give it up for their country.
Agree, the young adults today are no where as responsible as they were in the 1970’s/80’s since we were expected to move out of the house and start making our own way in the world when we turned 18/19 where now kids are still living off their mommy’s and daddy’s until their mid 20’s.

I remember rifle clubs at high school where the kids brought their guns in to basement shooting ranges. And there were no school shootings in those days, even when students walked around the building holding rifles.
This was the 50’s-70’s and kids weren’t more ‘mature’ then than they are today. But they were definitely more disciplined.
I quit putting my notions down here a few days ago, but haven’t quit reading, and this reminds me….we had 4 teen age boys, and there was an accident. We were informed that even tho the 18 year old had graduated, didn’t live at home and we no longer supported him, we were still legally responsible for any mis-deeds until each one turned 21. Don’t know if that was/is still true, but it helped us make sure these 3 young men all turned the right corners and became good grown up men. In face, I’d say ‘great good men’ especially when I see what is going on in the U.S. with young people.

When Ukraine is free again, its industrial hubs, ports, and cities will need to be rebuilt. The country will need a Marshall Plan-style postwar stimulus package that provides an immediate cash injection to jump-start its economy, as well as jobs for Ukrainians and contracts for European, US, and Canadian firms. But Ukrainians will not just rebuild what the Russians have destroyed. They will build back better.
Moreover, Ukraine’s reconstruction will adhere to a vision of environmental sustainability. Part of the country’s European future will include ending its dependence on Russian fossil fuels. Ukraine has already begun to integrate its power grid with Europe’s. As rebuilding gathers pace, policymakers intend to integrate the country’s energy infrastructure fully with European networks, diversify imports, and boost renewables. In fact, Ukraine will become a clean-energy powerhouse fully in the spirit of the EU’s European Green Deal.

I was watching a movie about Jack McGurn and a statement was made by the actor playing Al Capone that really intrigued me. He said that Prohibition was legislated because the Rockefeller’s lobbied Congress to ban Alcohol which was one of the 2 fuels used in the early cars, because the Rockefellers controlled the other fuel source for cars, Petroleum.
Interesting.

If these details are true, he spent decades pursuing prohibition. 1880 on.
Took 38 years of support before the 18th Amendment was passed. Standard oil was already created, but it was a few years before the car was invented. And Standard Oil was broken up before prohibition.
Rockefeller had left the company before the breakup happened. But the breakup doubled the value of the stock he held. Talk about unintended consequences.
Also, prohibition didn’t ban the use of alcohol for other purposes, just for consumption. It did regulate it, which would have raised the cost.
And there were high alcohol taxes until 1906 which were doing the same thing, favoring oil over alcohol.
If that were his aim, I for one would be thankful. Alcohol is not as good a fuel as gasoline. And it so easily grabs water that will harm engines.
But don’t trust some random fact checker. Verify.
