Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Morning Ya’ll 🙂
The 1st one is in memory of my Mother she loved this show.
Good morning jay and thanks for the early morning tunes. Not sure I knew of Beach Baby but watching reminded me how Disco crept into the scene in the 70s. Not that the tune sounds very Disco-ish, the signage reminded me. And while I begrudgingly participated in it, to this day I mostly despise it. Just a rock-n-roller at heart.
As for Welk, well that’s different. We all had to listen to it and somehow came to appreciate it. Strange thing, music is.
Have a great day.
I went to the disco because that’s where the girls were and being a single guy why not hangout with a majority of girls all dressed up and wanting to dance. Didn’t matter what kind of music, honky tonk or whatever. You are absolutely correct about Welks show we watched because she said so. I received a liking for different music because of my mom, which was a good thing. 😎
Only reason I participated as well.
Agreed on the appreciation of other genres of music. Welk, Big Band, Frank and the Rat Pack. We heard it and it stuck.
I remember The Lennon Sisters and the “sing along with Mitch” segment!
And now Bobby and Sissy are going to polka, a one, a two 😉
Oh my goodness YES! I remember it well.
“Beach Baby” brings back some memories….
I LOVE Hold Your Head Up by Argent! Great lyrics for these hard times.
🙂
.
.
.
Sadly, she was gone from us much too early. RIP Eva. 🙂
Loved her rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.
Thanks for sharing.
Listening to time after time, I was imagining Cassidy and Lauper doing a duet.
Then I found a version that sounds like the usually peppy Lauper was influenced by Cassidy’s rendition.
Autumn Leaves is my favorite. For musicians, there are folios of her arrangements in piano and guitar at Amazon. The piano is on the difficult side. Can’t say about the guitar.
Next gen tactical fighter aircraft the Inv!$!BLe X-2OOO.
Ten million and one ways to destroy one another and always looking for more new and exciting ways to accomplish it. The human species. Go figure.
When do we get a fleet of saucers like those spotted by our pilots? That’ll be the good stuff.
have you ever wondered how many souls have sparked to life?
how many were extinguished in the womb?
how many were killed in war?
how many lived rich full lives?
civilizations have come and gone
Wars, as horrible as they are, and despite the fact they generally bring pestilence and sometimes starvation with them, have killed fewer than many other things.
This however does not account for the injuries and disease. Until relatively recently more troops became casualties to disease than enemy action during that major conflicts and battles. More Americans were laid low by Malaria and other tropical diseases than by Japanese weapons on Guadalcanal. More Americans were taken out of action for illness and cold injuries than by German weapons during the Battle of the Bulge.
Over the history of mankind Malaria has killed more humans before their time than anything else. Only relatively recently has that changed.
The influenza Pandemic of 1918 killed more people than weapons did during WW I. Though it is right to question if there would have been a pandemic had not there been a war on a massive scale.
I know the list of things that kill us is long. My question was – have you ever wondered how many millions of souls have sparked to life since we were created?
I know, too deep a thought for a beautiful Friday morning…..
Good morning ms idaho! I know that since Roe vs. Wade around 65 million babies have been killed just in the USA. Don’t remember the exact number worldwide, and of course that SC decision doesn’t apply to the rest of the world, but just as a time reference the numbers are staggering, somewhere around 1.5 billion is lurking in my mind.
And every year over 240,000 are killed in the USA by medical negligence.
Praying for you and Doc.
Of course I have wondered but nobody knows how many have lived and died. My point being in the context of the original post is that none of the four horsemen ever really ride alone.
But we do know the things that I presented above. Just as we do know that abortion is the largest killer of babies in this country now and has been for some time. And we know that everything mortal we know of that lives, eventually dies. There is no death without life and every mortal thing we see and know of dies.
yes
people, trees, flowers, animals, grass, even weeds die.
what a wonderful world we get to participate in
Something I don’t see much of (in prayers posted) is a thanks to God for creating this wonderful, beautiful world we live in. (warts and all)
Agree ms Idaho. Count our blessings comes to mind. It’s a wonderful world imo. Just matters which perspective you choose?
Amen FC…speaking of wonderful,I was just passing through and haven’t seen any comments from our dear friend Betsy…just hoping she’s busy with stuff and is ok.
Have a blessed day amigos! 🙂
We’ll have them as soon as Russia and China do, if not before or already.
That’s what I’m talking about. Armed with the death ray.
June 3 Oswald Chambers
“The Secret of the Lord
The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him… —Psalm 25:14
What is the sign of a friend? Is it that he tells you his secret sorrows? No, it is that he tells you his secret joys. Many people will confide their secret sorrows to you, but the final mark of intimacy is when they share their secret joys with you. Have we ever let God tell us any of His joys? Or are we continually telling God our secrets, leaving Him no time to talk to us? At the beginning of our Christian life we are full of requests to God. But then we find that God wants to get us into an intimate relationship with Himself— to get us in touch with His purposes. Are we so intimately united to Jesus Christ’s idea of prayer— “Your will be done” (Matthew 6:10)— that we catch the secrets of God? What makes God so dear to us is not so much His big blessings to us, but the tiny things, because they show His amazing intimacy with us— He knows every detail of each of our individual lives.
“Him shall He teach in the way He chooses” (Psalm 25:12). At first, we want the awareness of being guided by God. But then as we grow spiritually, we live so fully aware of God that we do not even need to ask what His will is, because the thought of choosing another way will never occur to us. If we are saved and sanctified, God guides us by our everyday choices. And if we are about to choose what He does not want, He will give us a sense of doubt or restraint, which we must heed. Whenever there is doubt, stop at once. Never try to reason it out, saying, “I wonder why I shouldn’t do this?” God instructs us in what we choose; that is, He actually guides our common sense. And when we yield to His teachings and guidance, we no longer hinder His Spirit by continually asking, “Now, Lord, what is Your will?”
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
It is perilously possible to make our conceptions of God like molten lead poured into a specially designed mould, and when it is cold and hard we fling it at the heads of the religious people who don’t agree with us.
I would have to say Jesus flung many a hard truths at the religious heads.
Oswald gives detailed instructions about the myths of Gods guidance here, which is needed even if it’s just a reminder.
And that’s another issue, spiritual things seem to fade extremely quick. I assume because we live in this physical place and practice is not always so practical. It’s a daily purpose.
Beautiful, 🙂
Good morning Cat! ❤️😍
Good Morning grandpa, Betsy, jay, palerider and everyone else. My morning thought, I wish to share, what is it about this tree. No matter what type of funk your mind wants to sink into, you all come along cheerfully frolicking and contaminate the negative with positive stuff. Don’t stop being you! (Yes, you!!!!!) ❤️ 😘
Grandpa, Betsy just doing extra curricular activities outside the tree today? Just checking 😉
Not sure, FC but I imagine so. I was busy all day yesterday with the Nipper so I don’t know for sure. Hopefully she is busy with grands.
Good morning FC (or afternoon as it were). Hey, congrats on keeping your kitchen in tact. Hope you’re having a wonderful day, Cheers!
It was the third of June, another sleepy, dusty Delta day
I was out choppin’ cotton, and my brother was balin’ hay
And at dinner time we stopped and walked back to the house to eat
And mama hollered out the back door, y’all, remember to wipe your feet
And then she said, I got some news this mornin’ from Choctaw Ridge
Today, Billy Joe MacAllister jumped off the Tallahatchie Bridge

A 31-year-old singer born Arnold George Dorsey was the talk of the music industry when he reached the number four in the US with “Release Me”. No one had paid much attention to him until his manager, Gordon Mills, changed his stage name to Englebert Humperdinck, the name of the Austrian composer who wrote Hansel and Gretel.

The Kinks‘ Ray Davies flies 11,000 Km round trip to England from America to re-record the words “cherry cola” in the song “Lola” after the BBC refuses to air the song with the original words, “Coca-Cola”.
“But I know what I am and I bet I’m a man”
Morning rebel. When I hear Ode to Billie Joe I always think of Son of a Preacher Man and Harper Valley PTA. Somehow if I hear one I have to listen to all three.
Have a great day. Cheers!
Here you go Levi. It’s only one of your three. I enjoy her rendition
Good Morning ☀️
Wow, she kills it. Damn. Awesome.
Good one Flyover! For a moment I thought that poppa caught the Covid and killed it. 😂
That was me assuming that the covid was of masculine pronoun.

The Eagles‘ “Take It Easy” is released by Asylum Records. It will crack the Billboard chart three weeks later and become their first hit single, reaching #12.
Never tire of them.
Good morning Levi. Hope you day is blessed! Had a lot of fun yesterday with my 7 yo grandson at the Sea World. I call him here “the Nipper”. That’s the nickname that our dear friend from down under Mungrel gave him.
So Nipper and I got on the big roller coaster. There were no lines and we had our choice of seats. He wanted to ride in the front. That was his very first ride on a big one. He enjoyed it a lot but later told his grandmother, “I nearly had a heart attack.” 😂
Awwww what fun you had!!!! You reminded me, mungrel was good at giving out fitting nicknames, wasn’t he?? Wonder what he didn’t share (nick name wise) 😉 ❤️
I miss his posts. Hope he gives you a thumbs up just to let us know that he is still reading.
Good morning Gramps. Those are the things that matter in our lives at this stage. Not the “nearly had a heart attack” but the memories that your 7 y/o grandson will carry forth. When we pass a small part of us lives on in those we touch. If the Nipper is as fortunate as we are, some day he’ll return the favor to his own grandchild and share his memory of yesterday.
Blessings to you and yours and keep up the great work. Cheers!
NATIONAL DOUGHNUT (DONUT) DAY – JUNE 3
In 1917, the original “Salvation Army Doughnut” was first served by the ladies of the Salvation Army. It was during WWI that the Salvation Army Lassies went to the front lines of Europe. Home-cooked foods, provided by these brave volunteers, were a morale boost to the troops.
The doughnuts were often cooked in oil inside the metal helmets of American soldiers. American infantrymen were then commonly called “doughboys.” A more standard spelling of the word is “donut.”
Ok my cholesterol level
just escalated like the gas prices are in California.
Always loved this song (not necessarily Rosemary Clooney’s rendition, but still)
Connie Francis and (I believe) Rock Hudson
Watching the opening of In Like Flint
In Like Flint (1967)
Mercy, what a wonderful time was 1967
White hip-huggers and bralette tops, bouncy hair-dos, Carnaby Street influence, the last glimmer of brightness …
… before women’s fashion went all to hell with the Woodstock look: faded jeans, Army surplus jackets in olive drab (and I DO mean drab), and Patricia Krenwinkle hair — lank, no volume, parted down the middle, invariably
Now there’s a statuesque redhead in a white lace bodysuit and mint green kaftan … gotta go
Flint’s warbling to his dolphins
I remember it and can appreciate it but, must have been my impressionable age, I was caught up in the Woodstock & hippie era as a youngster. Not that I really understood it at my age. To be honest, I’m still not sure I understand what it was all about except the anti-Vietnam war thing.
Absolutely TRUE! That might be why, when we had children, I found and destroyed my 19 y/o photos where I grew my hair out. Plausible deniability to my children.
But closer to your point, I sometimes remember how much my parents (dad especially) despised my music and, in hindsight, I understand why he did.
One last comment on that era. Once grown up, educated and in the professional world, I sometimes wondered whatever happened to all those old hippies. First time I visited Venice Beach, CA I realized where they all went.
that Venice is a sh#t show, ain’t it?
Far worse now than it was with all the freaks. It used to be fun to take people there just to show them the freak show. Not anymore, shirt show for sure.
Morning, All!
I do enjoy the word of God.
John 12:46-50
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

As often I ask, how is your soul today?
Hey pflipper. I haven’t seen you for a while, course I’ve been lurking more, withdrawing and recharging. I missed the “how is your soul today?”
Thanks and good morning to you!!! ❤️
Feral, yes indeed there are times one must withdraw in order to take on the insanity all around. I’ll keep on asking for it is that important one keeps their soul alive. Be well!
Thank you for this! It is a wonderful reminder that although we are in ‘dark times’. we are not alone. That we must remain strong in our faith.
You are most welcome, Aggie. These are ‘dark times’ but we need not fear when knowing we have overcome these very times. Be Well!
Phflipper good to see you!

I love to read of your trusting the Lord, Grandpa!

Morning
Watch, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh. Matt. 25:13
Take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. Luke 21:34-36
The day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. I Thess. 5:2-6
Evening
I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. Gen. 17:1
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect. I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Phil. 3:12-14
Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Gen. 5:24
Grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. II Pet. 3:18
We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. II Cor. 3:18
These words spake Jesus, I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one. John 17:1, 15, 23

PLEASE PRAY FOR ONE ANOTHER
Good morning everyone. Prayers delivered. Cappuccino in hand. We can already feel the humidity but the winds will kick up later and all will be good.
Bless you all on this beautiful Friday. And, for those of you still in the work place, congrats, the weekend is upon you. Everybody is working for the weekend as they say.
Found a nice short prayer for those who feel pain or anxiety. God bless.
Lord, we’re hurting. The pain feels too great. The uncertainty over the future can easily fill our minds with fear and bring huge burdens to our hearts. Please take our pain away so we can sleep peacefully in your care. We thank you that you are close and that you’re always with us. We pray for your healing and your huge grace to encircle us as never before. We ask for your angels of protection and comfort to surround us in the night. Thank you that you are our Redeemer and you will never waste our pain.
Lord, we trust in your plan. I humbly wait for your instruction. Amen 🙏
Amen Levi and FC!🙏🏻
Mornin’ comrade infidels.
G’night, Wee.
It was a very. long. day. 🥱
That’s funny. It works because every element is so like her.
Keeping huge stockpiles of expensive food and drink. Check
Doing everything they want us to ban. Check
Blaming the Democrat boogieman of the day. Check
Two-tiered Justice. Check
About the only thing missing is making us taxpayers pick up the check.

Say it PROUD
Good Morning ms Idaho 🙋♀️
Hoping your day is starting out and remains a good day!!! ❤️
Sending hugs and good karma your way!!! Duck, I might mistakenly bop you on the head 😝
Good morning Feral Cat.
Have you ever had your claws filed?
I ask because yesterday I found a new resource person.
When you combine too much weight with too little eyesight with toenails that get thick and distorted you fight to win the war with ‘nature’.
This morning a person will visit to ‘trim my nails’.
I know that sounds venal – its a pedicure I suppose.
re: the ‘bop on the head’ mistake … long ago I joked that I am a stubborn Polak. You sometimes need to hit me upside the head with a 2×4 to get my attention.
Hey treepers – have the best possible Friday. Enjoy a lick of ice cream or one of your favorite doughnuts
Oooll spoiling yourself with a pedicure. ☺️
No granny toes for you 😂 I used to have to present it to my Tom like that to get him moving 😂 kinda stuck in my head.
Cant think of you getting hit with a 2×4. The child ditty of little rabbit fufu hopping thru the forest scooping up the field mice and bopping them on the head always comes to mind whenever I think of you. Well, that plus I’ve been everywhere ditty😝.
You all can have my share of scream and doughnuts. Had to acquire a taste for sticks, bark, nuts and seeds, myself. 😝 😂 ❤️
And mice, don’t forget the mice. 😂❤️
Hey hey hey
I survived my nail trimming.
And, as the young man stated, it really is not a pedicure as a salon would offer.
Funny. I was worried about what he would need to do his job. Our little space offers nothing outside of a bed, 2 recliners, dressers, shelves and such.
He had his own rolling stool, box of tools, glasses with light and magnifier, plus what you would expect for filing, trimming and taking down excess nail debris.
My toenails are very happy. And it is worthwhile to have an ‘expert’ help evaluate -are my nails better than average, worse than average, in trouble needing medical intervention – what?
I can probably take care of them myself for a couple or 3 months. And have someone to call if I need help or advice.
Yay – a win to start the day
na zdrowie 😉
wow – just wow.
God’s beauty on full display
Love it
Mornin’ Treepers
Glory to God for all things.
Amen! 🙂
Good afternoon Lonestar!
Good morning Lonestar. Always!
For those who didn’t see it already, Bill Maher has had another moment of clarity. He’s saying (correctly) that we need to debate the bizarre transgender explosion. Worth watching. “We’re literally experimenting on children”
If only he could have the same kind of revelation about abortion.
Today we remember St. Kevin of Glendalough
He was born in 498 a.d. and thought to have lived 120 years. He lived in isolation many years and developed special relationships to many animals. He founded Glendalough Monastery.
Find out more about him here:

Blessings to all. Hope everyone has a good day.
Lonestar!!!l! I was taking a break today, but I ran into ms Idaho on another thread, where she told me she had answered a post I left for her yesterday.
So I went to look for it and discovered you had left me the interesting children will be used as test subjects in Wales for the future of bug eating story. Thank you. I have left you a reply and hope you’ll go back to read it. Blessings🙏🤗
Hi Bet, there you are! We were wondering.
Enjoy your break and may all of God’s blessings be with you and your family…we all need “me time”. 🙂

Thought I’d add to the music
Now that I am getting to know Rapid City a bit better I’m not needing my Google maps as much. Seem Google maps on my I-phones better if I’m using a cell phone like audible or my cell phone music.
So I started listening to my SD card I down loaded about a year after getting my car, and who pops up but the sultry voice of Anne Margaret. Looked her up and dang she still seems to have it at 81.
Seeing George Burns come out at the end piqued my curiosity.
Here is the same performance, but expanded to include comedic interaction and a duet during his Christmas special.
The duet has lots of sultry.
Bet your blood pressure rose a bit watching this LOL.
By this time in 1944 during WW II American industry had restarted making various consumer products.
More shipping tonnage built and launched by the US was afloat than that produced by all the other nations of the world combined. The US had produced over 93,000 aircraft which was nearly twice the 50,000 that FDR had asked for in 1940 which many experts had declared an impossible number to reach. Enough B-17s had been produced that if sat wingtip to wingtip they would reach from Richmond, VA to Washington DC and the B-24 production was already passing that number. The US produced about 750,000 machine guns that year and 4 1/2 million other small arms along with 17,500 tanks.
The Battle of Kansas had been won and the most complex machine ever produced to that time was rolling off the production lines of four different plants. The B-29 bomber was like no airplane that had been built before. It was twice the empty weight of a B-17 but had to have the same drag to achieve the high altitude performance demanded. Wing loading was 69 lb per square foot which would have been considered impossible just two years before. It’s three crew stations were pressurized and it’s machine guns controlled by a computer. The Fowler Flaps had been developed for it and you who fly the big commercial jets still see them today in the aircraft your flying in.
A single B-29 was made up of 40,540 different parts and about 1 million rivets. The Pratt & Whitney R-3350 engine was the most complex machine made by man up to that time. There were over 900 separate engineering changes to the engine from the time the first prototype was produced until the first flight. And the changes kept on coming for both the engines and aircraft throughout their production.
Boeing, North American, Bell Aircraft, Wright Aeronautics, and GM’s Fisher Body all worked together to come up with a comprehensive production plan to mass produce the big bomber because doing so was far beyond the capability of the governments production board. There were 100 major subcontractors and about 1,300 smaller ones and a single slowdown at any of them could cause major problems down the line. And they had to feed the parts into the four assembly plants located at Wichita, Marietta, Renton, and Omaha. Each of those plants employed tens of 1,000s of people. It was, and remains to this day, the most massive and complex production project in the history of aeronautics.
Sure there were still shortages of certain war materials. Ike had postponed D-day a month for more than one reason, but an important one was to gain a months production of landing craft and LSTs. Over in the Pacific LeMay could not get the M-72 incendiaries that the B-29 bombers were dropping on the heart of the cities of Japan as quickly as he use them.
But the fight to turn the US into the “Arsenal of Democracy” had been won (It was an Industrial Giant Bill Knudsen, known as “the great Dane” who had coined that phrase and FDR adopted it.) and by this time as D-Day Normandy loomed and MacArthur was mopping up in the Philippines the problem was how to demobilize the US economy.
Demobilization was the phrase now being heard frequently in Washington. How to convert the massive war production machine back into a peacetime economy without causing massive unemployment and social upheaval was what was what was central in the mind of the planners by this time in 1944.
Thanks for your terrific comment. Here is a post I did a few years ago. Enjoy!

Thank you!
I highly recommend to you and anyone else that wants to learn about the miracle of how a depressed US economy was transformed into the greatest industrial power ever known in just a few years, this book.
Freedom’s Forge: How American Business Built the Arsenal of Democracy That Won World War II by Arthur Herman (goodreads.com)
In it you will learn about the Industrial Giants that pulled it off and what they did and how they did it. People like Henry Kaiser, Andrew Higgins and many more, but Bill Knudsen is the central character. Outstanding read, from which I extracted much of the post above.
I’ve read it. That’s the book I featured in my post.
WOW Stella—.
Reminds me that I owe someone on here a copy of my mom’s long letter to me about her WWII service that I used for a college paper.
If it was you and you still want I will scan and emai.
It would be interesting to read. Both my mother and father worked in Detroit plants during WWII building armaments for the war.
hope this reply is ok…
the reason what is happening with us right now frightens me so much is that there is no way our country could be self sufficient and do what was done during WWII with manufacturing and stuff. I keep thinking about this as Biden keeps throwing more and more of our manufacturing to other countries.
Great news! I didn’t burn down my kitchen yesterday!!! I made apple strawberry galette! Bet it taste great with ms Idaho’s ice cream.
Looks complex, yet extremely easy to make.

Something I suspect few, if any of you know, and that you need to know.
I’m sure all here have heard about the drought in the SW US and some here probably are being effected by it.
The US government and the press generally use the Palmer Drought Severity Index as their reference.
Palmer Drought Severity Index (PDSI) | NCAR – Climate Data Guide (ucar.edu)
What they don’t tell you is that index factors in water usage. IOW a place with a larger population or agriculture requiring lots of irrigation is more likely to show having a drought. Thus with a great increase in population in a particular area there will of course be a much higher potential for severe drought as they present it, than there was before the population had grown there.
And yet they attribute the drought to strictly climate or weather factors. It is very misleading.

Tough being little.
Dear Betsy
IMHO it is too bad that we use the word ‘haunted’ when events occur which seem to have no ‘earthly’ cause. To my mind this is especially true when things happen which change whatever we intended to do and set us on a new (unintended) path
If we believe each of us was created by God (and I do) [whether our spark lasts only moments or lots of years]
If we believe God is always with us – and maybe he has some help from angels (and I do)
Then I also believe EVERYTHING happens as He intends. All of the things that seem bad may just be disguised good things. Lessons we need to learn, people we need to help – the list is long…
Dunno if that makes sense. It is just too easy to say ‘Why ME God?’ when things happen to challenge us. When we are feeling like everything in life is aligned against us it is Soooo easy to get depressed.
Since I believe thoughts (and prayers) are things, our bad thoughts only make things worse.
I get the biggest kick out of my brother’s approach to life. He truly has one of life’s harder rows to hoe. Yet when we talk (most mornings) he is eager to find joy in the smallest things.
I will share this with you. I do not pray for me (or us). Every point is a thank you.
As part of my nightly ‘go to sleep’ litany I thank God for the angels who are in my eyes working with the nutrients to prevent … help … repair … whatever my eyes need to continue to work. I thank God for the vision I DO have.
Maybe that comes from the query: how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?
The other part of the story, as it relates to your post – I believe some people are much more in tune with the unseen universe. You, my mom, Doc are good examples. Probably (if the truth be known) your father too. Healing is not by medicine or surgical intervention. Miracles happen that cannot be explained.
What seems to me hardest to accept (I am speaking about ‘healers’) is that it is not always given unto us to do what so clearly needs to be done. Despite our best efforts the patient may not survive. On the other hand, I have heard ‘healers’ say they don’t know why the person they were working with survived.
re: a feather for proof. Nah. I don’t need proof like a feather. Gods wonders are everywhere for all to see and enjoy. Did you see the beautiful hummingbird and flowers posted by Jay? Of course you did!
I don’t ask anyone to believe in God – I just love to look and soak in the beauty of the world. The only regretful thought about aging is that the memory slips and its more difficult to remember these beautiful things. Maybe without sight you can have more memory?
God bless your beautiful soul Betsy. Words are so inadequate – just the best we have to give each other.
hugs
I’m overwhelmed by your wonderful, and for me, uplifting words, ms idaho. I was taking a break from today from this beautiful thread. Fancy seeing you this morning on the presidential one. As I said to Colkitto, ironic? …or not. I don’t believe it was. I was reading his answer to me and there you were. No, I do not.
As for haunted, that was the word used to me by a local. I chose to look at it in another way, and still do.
I think of you, Doc, and your beloved brother. There are answers I know as to why these afflictions happen to good, loving people. But we are obviously not meant to know, at this moment anyway. At a time of His choosing I’m sure, though I know the acceptance of that is hard.
I have mentioned but don’t know if you saw my post a while back, my husband’s two brilliant sons both died with muscular dystrophy. To this day he struggles with that question why would God stand by and watch their suffering which was immense. Of course I can’t answer him. I can listen and say, perhaps that it was the wretched ignorant doctor in the UK who said, yes, go ahead and have children. They’ll be fine. (Their mother was a carrier of the gene. A blood sample was taken, no muscle biopsy) Ignorance and socialist medicine. But it wasn’t God who said go ahead. Had they known they would have avoided having children.
I know of one commenter on another sight who received a miraculous healing when he had pancreatic cancer and multiple myeloma. I followed his decline through his comments, and also read them when he said he had suddenly turned to Christ with full faith and trust. He asked for nothing, like you. But even his doctors a few weeks later when they could find no cancer at all prayed with him in thanks right in their offices.
So I know miracles happen. I know it. I’ve experienced a few, not in that dramatic way, but they were miracles for me. I am eternally grateful for them.
And I believe in them as worked through others FOR others, a sort of chain miracle which catches many in their happenings.
And this is what I pray for you, Doc, and yes, your brother. He answers prayer as we know. In what ways the answer comes, none can say, but they’re always answered. So I will continue, knowing that He is doing better things for you all than anyone can hope or pray for, ms Idaho. I see you, and read your words, and I can’t help but feel your emotions as you and your doctors try to get a handle on your eyesight.
We know your Guardian Angel is standing with you and hasn’t, as I read once, popped out for a ‘smokey treat” (cigarette😉)..and so do I stand with you in your hopes that there will be that day when the exact right treatment t becomes apparent and available. I am so grateful for your kind words, all of them which are now securely in my heart, my dear friend…which you may be assured I am. Bet🙏😘
sideways from saying prayers – and having them answered… and since I know lots of folks read what we post, tho they may not write responses…
since you mention cancer …
I had a little shiver a day or two ago. I didn’t note the poster – mention was made of ‘Silva Mind Control. He / she had been exposed to it years ago – as had I.
Trying to be succinct – they spent a lot of time describing how we think and program ourselves. Example – you kids are going to be the death of me – or my back is killing me. The brain, dumb computer that it is, takes the words literally. The kids hear the words as – we are killing you. etc. We practiced ‘cancel cancel’ when we caught ourselves with negative thoughts.
Ha ha – we also practiced influencing the future – planning a parking space close so we didn’t have to walk far to the entrance. pulling into a parking lot
The really fascinating thing I learned was that they participated in an experiment at a cancer center somewhere (years ago). A great % of the people who followed the program became cancer free. What they did was have the patients make a recording in their own voice of a positive ‘something’ – I chose Og Mandingo – but it could be scripture – their choice. They would listen to that recording on their way to sleep. They were also taught to visualize something like a pac man chewing up the cancer cells. Start with the feet and mentally work their way up thru all parts of the body they could imagine and concentrate on. (try to stay awake – ha ha).
As I said, the rate of success was over 90%. What was not great was the number of people who found it too much trouble – they ‘tried it ‘ a little, then gave up. Others would not even give it a try. As you probably guessed, prayer was not promoted but was an implied part of this healing.
A friend of my mother got a cancer diagnosis. She tried to get him to ‘try’. Meanwhile, his son went out and bought a suit to wear to his father’s funeral.. Talk about negative programming.
But that is one of my sources for thoughts are things (and prayer). In a lot of ways the brain does not filter out or judge the positive or negative impact of what we hear, read and see.
Folks at the treehouse have commented that the tone here has changed – most notably since O’Biden I try to skim the posts because i think it is important to ‘be informed’. Problem (for me) is it is hard to filter out the negativity. Some days it is hard to find positive posts. There are some, but you do have to dig.
Dianne Marshall often has stuff no one else does – and I am a Patel Patriot devotee of Devolution. There are others. And I notice that when treepers post positive they often have fewer comments than the negative (scary) stuff.
You and Feral Cat encourage me to vent – but I really try hard to keep my sunny side up. You folks are leaking out your caring selves with every post – and that is wonderful. and appreciated.
Ah, but then there is the music, the psalms, uplifting quotes and more – available to overflowing abundance only here at the treehouse.
I (we?) don’t thank sundance and team enough for the chance to share here.
I believe through and through that bottling up our most heavy burdens can do much damage to the body. I also believe that trying…trying…to move away from the negative can be quite powerful…out with the bad and in with the pleasant.
There are merits to both outlooks, but to feel one HAS to keep everything to one’s self is terribly damaging. This man who recovered from his cancer (and yes, we’ll see in 5 years) was able to lean heavily on his friends on the site. They were wonderful for him and to him in ways which were very moving. Same on another site where the people who are very tight have risen to the aid of others on their site in desperate worry and trouble. Those sites are The New Americanism and MOTUS.
On the flip side it helps me when I’m anxious or worried, outside of prayer, to have as best I can a routine, and treats which may be as small as a restorative cup of tea, which is really very calming, and then talking myself down from the high perch. Oh, and my beloved classical music which is on all day soothes as nothing else.
As for, I guess you’re saying, alternative mindful “therapies”, there is so much we don’t know as to how the body can effect relief or cure. Because there is no profit in it for the grotesque pharmaceutical companies which are not interested in cures…at all.
Who knows what can be accomplished when one focuses on those bad cells. I am glad to see some are doing research into it.
Finally, I feel the tone may have changed here, though I don’t see it as that. Because people are in trouble in their lives because of the deliberate hateful actions of this government, be it with family who have cut them off vis the vaxx (there are more of those than you know, ms Idaho), or are feeling adrift in a country known once but is now foreign…so many things. Up votes signal to me that those who do give a thumbs up are actually glad to know there are others who feel the same and understand that they aren’t on their own. I love the sweet memes that get posted and the funny stories people recount, or as parichute did yesterday, recipes that look so delicious. Those types of posts, plus Scripture and prayer are a respite. We never know as you say who reads our posts…but I’ll say this. I have asked God Himself to guide my words in whatever I say here, in hopes that they may connect with anyone who needs to know they are not by themselves in this unrecognizable world. Whether he has granted that request, I do not know.
The above is a big old word salad, but I hope I responded to your very well put points. We just have to keep on keeping on in the end. One foot in front of the other, no matter how on some days it takes more effort than we think we can manage. Knowing we are at those times being held up by Arms stronger than ours. 💖
Bet, I think that your prayer has been answered big time. Insert a heart emoji here.
The emojis on my laptop have turned into a web link. Time to cal the support folks.
I love you, G😘
your beautiful post is uplifting for all of us.
you wrote this: I believe through and through that bottling up our most heavy burdens can do much damage to the body. I also believe that trying…trying…to move away from the negative can be quite powerful…out with the bad and in with the pleasant.
I don’t look at it as ‘bottling up’ our most heavy burdens. Remember the twins (optimist and pessimist) Christmas present story. one twin crying with a room full of neat toys – don’t know what to play with, don’t want to break…
other twin – room full of manure – laughing and tossing ‘stuff’ all over the room. Dad asks ‘how can you be so happy’. kid: with all this manure there has to be a pony in here someplace.
We can choose to view life’s lemons (we are ALL gonna get ’em) with fear and trepidation. human nature. Or, we can go looking for a sharp knife to cut the lemons, then a way to squeeze out the juice, and remove the seeds. Next we have to scare up some sugar t make lemonade. Then, of course, a glass to drink from 🙂
Notice I didn’t say it would be easy to solve the problems of lemons thrown our way. But we DO have the choice on what we do with them.
You must admit there is no ‘trouble’ anyone describes , no burdens they have to carry, that is unique. Each of us is given different problems to solve, but they are not unique unto the world. Poverty, starvation, deformities, hardship, success, families of love, families of hate, unrelenting pain and suffering.
We can get drunk, get high, cry, scream, make life hell for those around us, or we can find ways to cope.
The thing is, there is no right way ar wrong way. Each of us does the best we can with what we’ve got. Some of us have more we can work with, some of us have needs that are very difficult to overcome.
You can look in the mirror and cringe at the ugly old hag you see – you can laugh at the memory of the image that once was. You get to choose what you want to see.
Just remember – if you say ‘oh, this is awful’, the brain computer registers ‘awful’. If you say, well, here is today’s challenge, what things can I do to cope, the brain is free to dream up options.
You may not believe this (and it is terribly hard to make a reality) but we really do have the power to view events in life as tragedies or as projects. We were put here for a purpose (I believe) and the choices we make lead us to the best development of self.
It has also been postulated that if you do not learn your life’s lessons you will be given more opportunities (reincarnation?) to try again to get it right.
But, as you note, we are not in this alone.
I circle back to my question this morning – I wonder how many ‘sparks of life’ are, were and have been? How many lives were conceived, but for malicious or natural reasons went out early. On the other end, how many lived long lives – prosperous or otherwise. And how many sparks have been put out by the senseless acts of war, crime and accident?
When our creator sets off the spark life begins. When he crooks his finger it ends. Methinks we really have no say so in the matter – so all we can do is the best we can as long as we can.
Oh Oh – I am waxing philosophical – too deep, too religious. Sorry if I offend.
Its just that, even tho there is much fear expressed everywhere I want to do my little part to let people know that what is happening to day has happened before – and will likely happen again – regardless of how it works out for each of us.
The pain and suffering, the hardship, the real fear of change ‘this too shall pass’.
Just don’t weaken. Keep fighting for what is right. After the storm flowers grow. Rainbows appear. These things are as real as the scary storm.
I’d best stop
How well you put everything … in short the word is choice. In your mirror example, for myself I just don’t look😂. Problem solved. And in no way do you offend, not at all. How could you?
We all get to the age where “I’d better not say that” turns in to ” What the heck. Let’s just throw it out there it and see what happens.”
That’s where I am. And if I subscribe to that, who am I to deny the same to others? I prefer honest speaking to social wariness. And when we reach a certain age, after years of holding our tongues, do we not deserve to speak out? As long as what we say isn’t vulgar or intentionally hurtful or belittling. Neither of us do that. But since I don’t have a mute button, unfortunately I tend to drone on too long. So I’ll stop. I do enjoy our back and toos, ms Idaho.
And I, too, believe we do the best we can, often stumbling and sometimes very badly indeed. I’m so grateful for whatever second chances (grace and mercy) have been given to me, many undeserving. But as I say, so can say others, which can perhaps help us to make the choice to look harder for the wonderful things in this world which still exist. Really they are not that hard to see🤗🙏

Wisconsin Treepers:
President Trump has decided to endorse Tim Michels for Governor (rather than Tim Ramthun, who I know to be the tried-and-true MAGA candidate in the race). I will need to learn more about him to see whether or not I’d give him my vote come August.
I wish Trump would’ve endorsed Ramthun rather than Michels, but I suppose he figures that Michels has the best chance out of all of them to beat Kleefisch (which he probably does), and like I said, I don’t know very much about Michels so I can’t judge his “MAGA-ness” at this point. We’ll see… If it comes down to realistically being between Kleefisch and Michels, then I probably wouldn’t be opposed to giving Michels my vote, depending on how I feel after getting to know him more.
