Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

THANK YOU!!!
You’re welcome. 🙂
Good morning, Garrison💓
My British father in law couldn’t read music, and he had hands like hams. Nevertheless, such was his ear for music like this, he could hear it once and then replicate it on the piano. He had an amazing talent and a great appreciation for all the music of that time and before which came from America. Love these. As my husband said when he listened, “Just having fun.”
Very, very nice.
“Take Five” was played constantly on the cafeteria juke-box when I was first starting school. I think that’s the first time this country-boy heard Bruebeck. Later I came to realize just how complex his music was. You’re dad had talent. 🙂
It was a gift, no doubt.
5 min. Poem about a society lost in computer devices and cell phones.
I’m in the process right now of de-programming some little kids who just got their phones a few months ago. It’s working, but it’s something I have to be vigilant about, cuz the tendency to lapse is so huge for them.
Good Morning and thank you sunny daze! Wow! Brilliant message delivery! Hope it goes viral, although that’s a contradiction ❤️
Good morning, Cat💓
We all say Good Morning to our friends. Here’s what it means…
G Get up.
O Open your heart.
O Open your mind.
D Dedicate your day to God.
M Meditate on God’s Word.
O Optimise your faith and hope.
R Rebuke all evils.
N Never doubt God’s love.
I Inspire someone.
N Nothing should scare you.
G Go out with joy.
So I say to all here, GOOD MORNING and God go with each and every one of those who adorn these branches🙏
Good Morning Betsy! I’m stealing this! Awesome!!!!
Hope y’all have some good weather. Here, the sun is shining, grass drying before it’s haircut and a little brown(wren?) knocked on my window for breakfast 🥰
Oh bless him. For the nonce, all our little birds which were here earlier have disappeared completely. We were probably just a stop over on their way to you. Wind gone here and, though unseasonably chilly, the sun will definitely be in play today. Not too cold, not too hot (yet)…just right.
Good morning Feral Cat and Betsy!! Alleluia!
Good morning, parichute💓 A new day, fresh and welcomed. Thanks be to God.🙏
Good morning Betsy, FC, and P! Last night I had decided to lay off for a few days but after praying during the night for M and all the moderators I couldn’t resist saying hi to all my friends here.
‘And it is a new day, PTL!
I’m so glad, G💓…so so glad. I dreaded coming here and finding you absent. It would have been a big hole in my heart. And I mean that! 🤗!!!!
💗
Couldn’t stay in a grumpy mood, especially having the Nipper last night, and a visit from my daughter and family with the other grands. It really cheered up my mom. We all honored the memory of stepdad with a meal and a glass of wine.
Oh I’ll be it did! I am thrilled to see that. And keeping his memory alive? I can’t tell you how heartwarming I think that is. Blessings to all of you, G🙏
Good morning GrandpaM – I’m glad to see you here. I was in the same line of thinking last night and thought I might abstain, but like you, I heard His Word and opted to come in this morning to see my friends, gather some daily sustenance and give Thanks to the Lord.!
🙂
Good Morning grandpa 🙋♀️
Your presence today is making me smile bigly!!! 🙋♀️ mrs grandpa! 😘
💜
GPM – sent note to management today regarding admins tone yesterday amidst our struggle over M news. FYI
Amen B! (a beautiful little angel emoji)
🤗…..I’m loving your “emojis”! Very enterprising.
words at work again! thanks – I thought it was easier than all the keyboard machinations – call me lazy, but I prefer to do less work (ha ha laughing at my own jokes) 🙂
And it’s more personal, I think. Words are so powerful.😊
Good Morning parichute!! If you bump into those two boys shoveling snow, we saw last night, would you send them my way please? I may need them today 😝
Thank you 😊
Not again! But of course, If I see… I send 🙂 YW
I’m sticking to the weather forecast by Rah!! Right on the money he is. My snow shovel is still next to the door 😂 love ya Rah! ❤️
Enough of that white stuff! Nature apparently didn’t get the memo.
Betsy, sorry to disturb you but could you check on the language setting on the typewriter. Maybe nature got the memo but it was in welsh by mistake? 😜
😂…sorry, Cat. No Welsh availability.
Let’s say hello to Mungrel… Hello Mungrel!!
Howdy, M…prayers up for you always. LBT
Besty, can you share what LBT means?
All I can find is:
In that order. Most common use is lower back tattoo, used to describe a woman who is…shall we say…willing.
Since you are very Christian, you wouldn’t want people to think that!
PJ, with all due respects, I believe you’re way off base with thinking anything of the sort about Betsy. It doesn’t mean anything like you suggest and if you guessed something like that about my name, I’d be offended.
Huh? I asked Betsy what LBT means. This is an open forum, we don’t write in code.
What I found may not be what she wants it to mean.
What do you think it means? Something bad?
No, I would have suggested asking Betsy like this…Betsy what does lbt mean? And that’s all nothing else insulting. That was just rude, imo. You might not have meant to, but you wrote bad things It wasn’t nice to write what you did. I was offended by it, even if Betsy isn’t when she sees it.
I asked a simple question. Let the lady answer for herself.
PJ…..give it a rest.
be gone pest
Great idea! Mind if I play my song for him?
Hi mungrel 🙋♀️ Pat Pat, scratch ears, nose touch. ❤️
Mungrel, did you see parichute’s photo of you? I thought it showed your best side!! ❤️
Howdy son!
Not me! I just do my best to concentrate into a few paragraphs what Joe Bastardi at Weatherbell is saying/forecasting.
The deal is the guys at weatherbell make their living in the real world, giving forecasts to all kinds of businesses and industries. If they weren’t better than what you get from the government or TV, they would not be in business. They live, eat, and breath weather. Joe is a 2nd generation meteorologist BTW.
Joe always finishes his Saturday Summary with “Enjoy the weather, it’s the only weather you’ve got!”
Awww…Rah! I’m still going to consider you my weatherman with an assist from joe, of course 😉 if it wasn’t for your forecast and link, I’d be deep in muck or snow. Thanks for everything you contribute here. Truckers are one of the smartest people, imo!❤️
Very excellent.
~very !!!!
The one peeping around the corner is best :” What you looking at .”
Hi tj 🙋♀️ left you a msg on yesterday’s post. 😉
Now these are some real GOATs!
.and that’s some gastro-intestinal-fortitude if you ask me!
Look how unafraid they are. We should all take note, if you get my meaning🙏
Catchers Mitt Working! Be not Afraid!

These animals have lived on these ledges their entire lives, they know no difference. A thumbnail of the perspective of life.
The greatest thing about humans is we can study and learn. The worst part is the same, we can study and learn. Without a filter (Gods word) anything can become our ways.
Why don’t humans live on cliffs? Apply that to “why don’t humans” change genders, abort, war?
NATIONAL BABE RUTH DAY – APRIL 27
Nicknamed “the Bambino” and “the Sultan of Swat.” Spending 22 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB), he played for three teams from 1914 to 1935.
Ruth set career records during his career for home runs, slugging percentage, runs batted in, and on-base plus slugging. In 1927, he was the very first player to hit 60 home runs in one season.
In 1936, the National Baseball Hall of Fame elected Ruth as one of the first five players to be inducted into the Hall.
In 1946, after experiencing severe eye pain and difficulty swallowing, Babe Ruth was diagnosed with cancer. A year later on April 27, Ruth attended the newly proclaimed Babe Ruth Day and spoke briefly to a crowd of almost 60,000 people at Yankee Stadium.
At the age of 53, on August 16, 1948, at 8:01 pm, Babe Ruth died in his sleep.
Elvis died on August 16, 1977.
Good morning, Boogywstew.
I didn’t remember the date, but I certainly remember when it happened. My good friend at the time phoned me in tears to tell me had died. She was sobbing so hard I could barely understand her.
August 16th was my dad’s birthday so I easily remember Elvis’ death. Then to return the favor, my dad died on Elvis’ birthday, January 8th.
Interesting Boogystew – I did not know that and my dad died on August 16th, 2015. I wonder if he’s had a chance to bump into Elvis and Babe ;o)
So strange how that works out. I was just reading of a notable man who was born and died on the same date…decades apart of course. Wish I could recall his name…
My stepdad died on Easter, and so did his sister many years ago.
When you alerted us about his passing, that was the very first thing I noted.
I didn’t know about his sister. His niece in Germany alerted me to the fact. Another God happening IMO.
Oh I honestly think you can count on that!!!🙏
My mom died on Mother’s Day.
Merle Haggard died on his own birthday April 6th 2016.
Jane Leavey wrote an excellent bio of Ruth, well worth the read–one nugget–first instance of a personal manager/agent in sports
I like the book The Year Babe Ruth Hit 104 Home Runs by Bill Jenkinson.
In Ruth’s day, ball parks were about 30 feet larger than modern ball parks, so Jenkinson calculates what Ruth would have done in the modern era. I like the time Ruth hit a 490 foot routine fly out in the old Polo Grounds.
NATIONAL DEVIL DOG DAY – APRIL 27
During World War I, the legend goes that German soldiers took to calling U.S. Marines “devil dogs” for their tenacity. In 1918, a U.S. recruiting poster headlined with the phrase Teufel Hunden put the story into full circulation across the country. Although the German expression was rare and oddly worded, and its source blurry at best, the nickname took a firm hold.
The most familiar nicknames associated with the Marine Corps are Leatherneck and Jarhead. Leatherneck dates back to the Revolutionary War and references the leather stock service members wore around their necks. Jarhead developed around World War II and refers to the way a Marine looks when in dress blues; the high collar resembled a Mason jar.
Good day rebel! ❤️

What Do You Want?
Do you seek great things for yourself? —Jeremiah 45:5
Are you seeking great things for yourself, instead of seeking to be a great person? God wants you to be in a much closer relationship with Himself than simply receiving His gifts— He wants you to get to know Him. Even some large thing we want is only incidental; it comes and it goes. But God never gives us anything incidental. There is nothing easier than getting into the right relationship with God, unless it is not God you seek, but only what He can give you.
If you have only come as far as asking God for things, you have never come to the point of understanding the least bit of what surrender really means. You have become a Christian based on your own terms. You protest, saying, “I asked God for the Holy Spirit, but He didn’t give me the rest and the peace I expected.” And instantly God puts His finger on the reason– you are not seeking the Lord at all; you are seeking something for yourself. Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you…” (Matthew 7:7). Ask God for what you want and do not be concerned about asking for the wrong thing, because as you draw ever closer to Him, you will cease asking for things altogether. “Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him” (Matthew 6:8). Then why should you ask? So that you may get to know Him.
Are you seeking great things for yourself? Have you said, “Oh, Lord, completely fill me with your Holy Spirit”? If God does not, it is because you are not totally surrendered to Him; there is something you still refuse to do. Are you prepared to ask yourself what it is you want from God and why you want it? God always ignores your present level of completeness in favor of your ultimate future completeness. He is not concerned about making you blessed and happy right now, but He’s continually working out His ultimate perfection for you— “…that they may be one just as We are one…” (John 17:22).
WISDOM FROM OSWALD CHAMBERS
We are only what we are in the dark; all the rest is reputation. What God looks at is what we are in the dark—the imaginations of our minds; the thoughts of our heart; the habits of our bodies; these are the things that mark us in God’s sight.
Good Morning everybody!

Yes…we all have to look in the mirror at some point during our day, when no one else is around…just me, myself, and I…and God. Very sobering it can be.🙏
Odd, Betsy, I’ve read your comment throughout the day and just now this tune popped in my head. The vogues, turn around
Thinking with the Lord in mind. Thanks for my night ear worm 😘
On last night’s ‘Media Meltdown’ thread, Wristburn posted one comment, Psalm 37. I encourage all to read the whole Psalm 37.
I looked it up, and it is definitely a sign of our times. There are many lines that apply today, especially this one that comes to attention:
(A Psalm of David.) (1) Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.
(21) The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.
https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Psalms-Chapter-37/
This Psalm was written for our times, I think. The wisdom of David.
Praise the Lord!
Rejoice, this is the day the Lord has made!
We are not alone!
I often go to Watt’s Psalms to see how the Spirit guided his interpretation. This one is in common meter so it can be sung to the tune of Amazing Grace and others in common meter. The first 15 verses are below:
PSALM 37 PART 1
C. M.
The cure of envy, fretfulness, and unbelief; or, The rewards of the righteous and the wicked; or, The world’s hatred and the saint’s patience.
Why should I vex my soul, and fret
To see the wicked rise?
Or envy sinners waxing great
By violence and lies?
As flowery grass, cut down at noon,
Before the ev’ning fades,
So shall their glories vanish soon
In everlasting shades.
Then let me make the Lord my trust,
And practise all that’s good;
So shall I dwell among the just,
And he’ll provide me food.
I to my God my ways commit,
And cheerful wait his will;
Thy hand, which guides my doubtful feet,
Shall my desires fulfil.
Mine innocence shalt thou display,
And make thy judgments known,
Fair as the light of dawning day,
And glorious as the noon.
The meek at last the earth possess,
And are the heirs of heav’n;
True riches, with abundant peace,
To humble souls are giv’n.
Rest in the Lord, and keep his way,
Nor let your anger rise,
Though Providence should long delay
To punish haughty vice.
Let sinners join to break your peace,
And plot, and rage, and foam;
The Lord derides them, for he sees
Their day of vengeance come.
They have drawn out the threat’ning sword,
Have bent the murd’rous bow,
To slay the men that fear the Lord,
And bring the righteous low.
My God shall break their bows, and burn
Their persecuting darts,
Shall their own swords against them turn,
And pain surprise their hearts.

Daily Light on the Daily Path – April 27
April 27
MORNING
Brethren, the time is short.
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not. – The world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. – As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
Death is swallowed up in victory. – Whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. – To live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Cast not away … your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. – The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. – The end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
I COR. 7:29. Job. 14:1,2. -I John 2:17. -I Cor. 15:22,54. -Rom. 14:8. -Phi. 1:21. Heb. 10:35-37. -Rom. 13:12. -I Pet. 4:7.
Mornin’ comrade infidels.
I could only pray this be true.
😂 this is going to be fun to watch. 🤭
No matter his angle or intent, Elon is a master Tweeter. He owns it…literally!
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.”
1 Corinthians 9:24 (KJV)
Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered!!!

Jeremiah 1: 4-5
4 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
He knows us all well before we are born. That is life!
God knows when life starts and rescues those whose ‘mothers’ choose to do away with; I pray this to be true!
I do as well, parichute. 🙏
The soul is eternal – is it not?

Duchess, I am staying with a relative in a small town that has a “Spring Cleaning Week” where people leave things outdoors for others to scavenge or recycle.
There is a beautiful jogging stroller down the street. Also a nylon rocking cradle. The two items are worth hundreds of dollars, new. And are very useful for a few limited months/weeks, after which they are in the way.
If I get the chance tomorrow I will take these items to a nearby thrift store. I know that there is an exceedingly cash-poor population the next county over. Someone needs these items, and then needs to send them on to other new parents.
Just want to encourage people with free time (few new parents have any free time) to clean and recycle the items that make infancy easier. These valuable items make a difference, and are not affordable to people under financial constraints.
Wonderful!! Joyous!!
Thank you, Home_IsWhereTheHeartIs. I really appreciate these daily Bible lessons. God Bless You for bringing them to us.
The Great American Songbook…………….
“Till There Was You”. Written (lyrics and music) by Merridth Wilson in 1950 and incorporated into the Broadway show The Music Man (1957). Barbara Cook sang it as librarian Marian Paroo in the original cast. Since then it has been covered by many including Chet Atkins, Ray Charles, Anita Bryant, and The Beatles.
Shirley Jones and Robert Preston from the movie:
The Beatles, 1963:
Side note: “Till There Was You” was the only song from a Broadway show released by The Beatles. The widow of Meredith Willson, the composer of The Music Man, has stated that her husband’s estate eventually received more income from the royalties of the Beatles recordings of “Till There Was You” than it originally received from the actual play. Paul McCartney was introduced to Peggy Lee’s 1961 cover of the song through his older cousin, who would occasionally babysit the two McCartney brothers.
Good morning UC. No one writes songs like these today. Poetry. A true golden age of music. Songs like these are never old.
Amen.

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2022/04/southern-california-water-officials-declare-water-shortage-emergency-first-time-ever-restrict-outdoor-watering/
Southern California officials Tuesday evening declared a water shortage emergency for the first time ever.
The Metropolitan Water District’s board declared a water shortage emergency and ordered SoCal residents to restrict outdoor watering to one day a week.
The restrictions will go into effect June 1.
Cities and water suppliers that get their water from the agency will face hefty fines if they don’t comply and exceed monthly water limits
https://www.investing.com/news/stock-market-news/california-staff-report-recommends-denial-of-desalination-plant-2810239
The commission’s staff said the project was more susceptible to sea-level rise than was understood when it was first proposed more than two decades ago. The plant is expected to produce 50 million gallons (189.3 million liters) of drinking water per day, enough for 16% of the homes in the Orange County Water District, where 2.5 million people live.
The commission staff also deemed the project harmful to nearby fish and bird habitat, said the ground beneath the plant posed a seismic risk, and that the higher cost of the plant’s water would squeeze low-income consumers.
The 12-member commission is made up of six local elected officials and six members of the public who are appointed by the governor, a senate committee, and the assembly speaker.
I believe Dr Victor Davis Hanson farms in S Cal. His is a family farm stretching back generations. He has written articles about California’s inept and corrupt management of its sources of water. When I saw this appalling news, he was the first I thought of. I imagine more articles will be forthcoming. California continues to implode. All their chickens are coming home to roost.
Hi, Betsy. Victor Davis Hanson hails from Fresno County in the central San Joaquin Valley, about 60 miles north of where I live.
Decades ago California had an incredible water storage and delivery system but the Democrats have systematically dismantled it. And yesterday the state rejected an application to build a water desalination plant to provide water for people.
Oh you are JOKING!!!! I cannot understand that all! To use an over used word, but it fits here as no other can…insanity!
Thanks patty. I’m unfamiliar with the specific geographical regions in your state, but VDH, a mild mannered man, has not shrunk from his outrage about this. To say it’s so ecological and “concerned” about the environment, it has just boggled my mind that everything California has done over the past 3 or so decades says the opposite. Thinking of people such as those in the Sierra Club. The wine, whine, and cheese club. God truly bless you all……..
Patty, a close relative has worked with desalinization studies in Israel. This person believes that recycling water (as is done in Singapore with their water supply) is safer.
Humans screw up (example: Chernobyl) and it is very difficult to undo damage of a malfunctioning desalination plant.
The San Joaquin Valley, especially under the current delusional masters, may be better off with a different water supply method — not desalinization.
I traveled theough the San Joaquin Valley by car and by train. Beautiful. Your valley is in my prayers
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.

Get canned corn and cornmeal if you use it.
“SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WGEM) – Illinois producers are struggling to get corn and soybeans planted this spring. The latest crop report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture shows there were 1.5 suitable days for fieldwork last week due to rain and colder temperatures.
Only 2% of the state’s corn has been planted so far this season; that’s compared with a five-year average of 21 percent. One percent of the soybeans in Illinois were planted last week, while 16% of the crop was in the ground at this point last year.
Although, this issue isn’t unique to Illinois. Inclement weather has challenged most of the Corn Belt, and only 4% of the country’s corn was planted by April 17.”
https://www.week.com/2022/04/25/corn-soybean-planting-illinois-delayed-by-cold-temperatures-rain/
Sorry, not the kind of corn they’re talking about. People don’t eat field corn.
I think you’re correct. We don’t eat field corn per se. however our livestock supply does, some cereals are made from it, plus many other uses might be impacted. At least, this is what my research shows:
Field corn, or dent corn, is the most common type of corn. 98% of the corn grown in Illinois is field corn. Field corn has a hard outer-shell and is full of starch. The kernels on this type of corn are mature and dry before harvest occurs in the fall. Field corn is used in everything from livestock feed to ethanol production and can even be found in cereal, wallpaper, skateboards, cosmetics, and plastic!
https://ilfbpartners.com/farm/field-corn-sweet-corn-popcorn-whats-the-difference/
You think I’m correct? Thanks, but I grew up in a family that produced some of the best corn grown in the richest of IL fields.
It drives me insane that after all this time, people still don’t understand agriculture and where their food really comes from, or what the land is used for.
It’s like the people who think meat comes from the grocery. I just can’t keep explaining this. 🙁
But we do need the field corn, don’t we? I mean the livestock’s gotta eat so we can eat meat. It amazes me too that people just don’t understand the food chain.
I’m so glad you replied. I’ve lived in the South, and it’s like pulling teeth to get people there to understand the farm belt.
Sundance has tried to explain this, but it hasn’t sunk in. When most Southerners hear “corn & beans” they think of what they might like to eat. But that’s not the corn & beans we grow.
The corn & beans we grow up north provide the best sustenance for ALL our livestock and poultry (and other things). This provides the meat our entire country can eat, even the livestock which cannot be successfully maintained in lower states.
A tiny bit of the rich farmland up north might be used for human consumption (and there is no comparison to our sweet corn) but the most effective use is for field corn.
I don’t want to go on, because I could write a book, and this isn’t my blog.
Good morning fellow Treepers.
Wonderful!! When I hear him, I always think of what is said. When one loses a sense…the others are magnifed. I know the voice is not one of those, but all the same…
I also think of God’s grace in this department every time I listen to the miraculous voice of Thomas Quasthoff, who was born severely disabled after his mother took thalidomide.
That he could produce that most magnificent voice, so powerful and expressive with a range that defies belief, is nothing more than an example of His neverending mercy. When I hear him on our streaming Sirius channel, I don’t even have to look…I know immediately it is Quasthoff.
Will check him out today B – thanks, just got back from a hunting and gathering mission to stock our emergency pantry. Never heard of him and looking forward to listening. for now – wrap and stash what I’ve drug in. Local bargain outlet had so many good things for so little – I’m getting while the getting is good.
You will not be disappointed. Because of his physical deformities, he specializes in Bach, Mahler and Schubert lieder, Mozart arias…and jazz. His Georgia on My Mind is wonderful and only one of the songs he sings. He gives masterclasses. Lucky the singer who is invited to those.
And I, as well, did a bit of filling in. Prices grotesquely up, with lots of bare shelves and holes. And at the checkout?? I needed assistance to get back in my car, so great was the shock total. No frills, all basic. YIKES!!!!
Yikes is right! If you have an ALDI you can get to, they really have some gems to be found at very reasonable prices. Produce. Organic chicken and eggs (awesome), some sliced cheese and meats. Chips and cookies $2 and under and very good, if you’re into those sorts of things. Our local ‘full-priced’ market is fully stocked with only a few holes but I think that’s about to change for the worse. (long sad face)
I do…2 in fact. I used to go quite frequently and for some reason don’t think of them. But with Walmart milk at $4 a gallon, that’s going to change. Also low on eggs.
Highly recommend for a flavour of his talent Mozart’s Papageno’s Aria from the Magic Flute.
You can’t do emojis and I can’t link from my Kindle…regretfully. Woe is me.
…or (last suggestion) My Funny Valentine…the end…promise😉
And isn’t this song, merrie’s favorite she mentioned on her anniversary? You have an uncanny knack for great timing ☺️
It certainly is, Cat!! I listened to Quasthoff singing it and was mesmerized. Uncanny. You’re right.
Is this what you wanted to post?
The aria is right, Cat, but that’s not Quasthoff songing.. If you look right on the YouTube you posted, you’ll see him. Play that one!! Wonderful!
Love you for that💓
…singing…not songing…obviously
How about this?
Girl!!!!!! Perfect! Bless your heart…you ARE an absolute treasure😘!!! What a voice. God given.
Thank you, P. That is beautiful. My daily prayer.
any other Treepers ever wonder who translated the Gospels? St Luke especially is hard to follow at times.
All of them are miraculous, merrie. One thing for certain…those who did were appointed by God to do so.
That question I find fascinating. And there are many answers.
While not the first, near the end of the 4th century, Jerome translated them into common Latin. His translation is called the Vulgate.
Also, not the first, Wycliffe is the root translator for English. Several more translations followed, usually starting from Wycliffe or a from one rooted in Wycliffe’s work. The Geneva Bible was the preferred bible of the early colonists.
The King James Bible is another of the works following Wycliffe, etc. A committee of 48 scholars was chosen. While trying to be accurate, they also tried to beautify the language. ‘Girl get up’ might be translated ‘damsel arise’. Eventually it took over as the most used bible in the American colonies.
We have many more sources now than were available to these early English translators. And we have many, many more translations. Each one will have its own story. I usually read the KJV. But you can find websites that compare some of these translations. Some of them are more modern. Some try to be more faithful to the original Greek.
One thing to be aware of, is that there are differences between some of the earliest complete Greek versions that we have. There are arguments about which was more like the originals that we don’t have.
Hope I piqued your curiosity too.
Here is the story of one inspired translator.
William Tyndale – His Life and Death (christianity.com)
Thank you, Jim. We only have the KJV. I have many different translations of ancient Greek literature. Every translation is somewhat different as some are slow and dragging and some make the words come alive. With ancient Greek lit I just choose the translation I like. some passages in the KJV of the Bible are a real slog.
“Every translation is somewhat different as some are slow and dragging and some make the words come alive.”
As with ancient Greek literature, so too with the Bible: some translations are more alive. We have NASB, NRSV and NIV translations we routinely read from. It’s easier and a more enjoyable experience for me to read a more updated version of English.
I liken KJV to poetry I’m too stupid to get.
Not sure how locked down you are. If you have some flexibility, you could get an easier to understand translation to reference when the reading KJV is tough. Or a study bible that has added information or commentary to help understand.
If you are interested in either, here are two different recommendations as food for thought. Some disagreement between them. They definitely come from different perspectives.
What is the Easiest Version of the Bible to Read? A Complete Breakdown (nerdybookgirl.com)
The 13 Easiest Version of The Bible to Read (2022) (meredithgould.com)
There may be a perspective suited to your particular circumstances.
Another approach might be a bible commentary. You can search based on your circumstances for one that is written for you.
For instance, here is a list of some commentaries including what circumstances or POV they come from.
King James Bible Commentaries (See the Best Reviewed) – Best Bible Commentaries
Most on that list are old. Asking a friend/minister/etc for a recommendation could be the quickest way to find something most suitable.
Hope that this can be in some way helpful to you.
Again, Thank you, Jim. The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew? Aramaic? The New Testament authors all wrote in Greek? seems not right. seems to me maybe Paul wrote Latin and maybe some others wrote Hebrew or something else. How much could have been mis-translated by the mideavel munks? I normally do not take much for granted and like original sourcing.
This is beyond crazy.

Teacher Uses Cotton Ball to Illustrate History Lesson and All Hell Breaks Loose in Liberal San Francisco
Excerpt:
A teacher at San Francisco’s Creative Arts Charter School wanted her eighth grade students to understand the hardships of slavery.
She was teaching a lesson about the invention of the cotton gin.
So she brought cotton plants to class so the kids could feel the sharp edges — so they could see how difficult it was to pull out the seeds.
Some 24 hours later the teacher was removed from the classroom for five weeks and the school district apologized – alling the lesson unacceptable. They said the teacher violated the school’s anti-racist, progressive curriculum.
Putting raw cotton in the hands of children re-creates conditions that “evoke so many deeply hurtful things about this country,” the mother of a biracial student told the San Francisco Chronicle.

Teaching children about racism is racist. Are we clear?
I used the term “insanity” to pattyinporterville. I use it here as well. Madness…collective madness.
i am your Israeli friend and a Trump supporter. Today is Holocaust Memorial Day. My father had ALL his family murdered in Europe including remote relatives. He fought the Nazis and was from the founders of the Israeli army. My mom spent a long time in concentration camp Aushwitz and to say it plainly her mental health was badly damaged. I was educated to never be a victim. I am the new generation who served in the army and moved on. I am attaching here an optimistic video that is both emotional and related to the subject. Also a second video below it. God Bless you all!!!
Thank you, sir. I know this day has got to tear the heart out of you. God eternally bless Israel and all her people.🙏 Shalom.
Holocaust Memorial Day. Shalom and God Bless from an Israeli friend!
Shalom, David. A terrible Day of Remembrance. There are so many who do forget, so many more who do not believe it, and so many more who know nothing about it…the latter courtesy of our abysmal “education” system in this country. But we here in the Treehouse remember…and we will not forget.
All God’s blessings to you.
…especially as history is prologue. The evil which is planned for the whole world via the monsters who call themselves globalists is merely an extension of the horrors of the concentration camps.
I’ve been pouring over election numbers in Texas and I’ve found evidence of lost votes at the state and county level. I encourage you to watch and give me feedback on how this message can get in the hands of the public at large. This is called LOST VOTES and it only takes 12 minutes of your time. https://lostvotes.us
Hi Solomon 🙋♀️ I miss you too! 😔 ❤️ 🌸 🌺 💐
