In an effort to keep the Daily Open Thread a little more open topic we are going to start a new daily thread for “Presidential Politics”. Please use this thread to post anything relating to the JoeBama Administration and Presidency.
“This is no small thing, to restore a republic after it has fallen into corruption. I have studied history for years and I cannot recall it ever happening. It may be that our task is impossible. Yet, if we do not try then how will we know it can’t be done? And if we do not try, it most certainly won’t be done. The Founders’ Republic, and the larger war for western civilization, will be lost.”
“But I tell you this: We will not go gently into that bloody collectivist good night. Indeed, we will make with our defiance such a sound as ALL history from that day forward will be forced to note, even if they despise us in the writing of it.”
This thread will refresh daily and appear above the Open Discussion Thread.

B. B. R. = Brandon Buyer Remorse
And a truly LOUSY Dem. Gov., Legislature, Mayor of Portland, etc. the list is LONG.
Betsey Johnson, Independent, is my choice for governor. What the above poll shows is the outcome if real voters votes were counted.
Here in Oregon no is allowed to vote in person. NO ONE!
People in WA. and OR. need to shut that vote by mail sh*t DOWN.
It’s ruined both of those states.
A silly poll and the vote count are 2 entirely different things…….as we already know 😛
I’m sure 30% range are true reflections of Demonrat vote totals for a number of election cycles.
They vote by mail in Oregon so that poll is meaningless!!! Democrats know how to rig mail in balloting!!!
I can even envision them counting more ballots than they have voters………just to throw salt in it.
Followed up with “whaddaygonna do about it?”.
People around the country are starting to see what a good (Repub) Gov. can do, because of DeSantis. IMO.
Now they need to realize that they need a good R. Legislature, too>>> or that really good Gov. is gonna get nothing accomplished for them.
THIS is why I want DeSantis to fill both of his terms as Gov. before he goes anywhere near the WH! He can accomplish MORE for this country as an example for all Americans of a good, effective, Gov. right now than as a President.
That is an astounding poll out of OR. And it’s PBS, too!
A Republican politician in an ultra blue state like Oregon is probably of the Phil Scott, Charlie Baker, Susan Collins, Pierre DeLecto ilk.
They actually had some good R. candidates out there when I lived there. (Western WA.)
It’s not unheard of, but in the past they just didn’t garner much of the vote.
Here’s one running against a WA. RINO:
Main impediment is all-mail-in voting, now pushing over 20 years. It’s not who votes and who they vote for, it’s who counts the votes. Geographically, those numbers reflect the state. Demographically, essentially Portland/area, Salem/area and Eugene/area control the vote. I doubt there will be a conservative rout in November. Hopeful, sure.
And, yet, the next election will miraculously be a landslide for the Progressive left!

But if a judge makes this hearing valid via his recommendation or decision…

Don’t be shocked when the Lawfare Democrat wins. The judge is an Obama appointment and the judge’s sister is an NPR big shot…Tottenberg!
Unfortunately, the Republican lawyers in Congress don’t bother with fighting this war. They stick to posting useless headlines on Twitter (evidence: Jim Jordan) or sound bites during aired hearings.
If the repubs won’t stand up for one of their own members, they deserve to lose. THIS is why we needed a 3rd party. I fear our very best chance to get a 3rd party and split both the dems and the repub parties was missed.
And Tulsi Gabbard is suing Mitt Romney for his “Russian agent” slander. Yep, that’s what we need to be doing. Of course, if those surrounding us who vote democrat had the integrity to stand up and say “Who the hell do you think you are, calling my friends/family/neighbors/co-workers white supremacists and racists?” it wouldn’t be necessary, but since they don’t…

From: “THE NEW RUSSIAN PLAN FOR UKRAINE IS TOO AMBITIOUS FOR ITS OWN GOOD”
By Stavropol Atlamazoglu, April 22, 2022
At sandboxx.us
“The Pentagon assessed that for the first time since the start of the conflict, the Ukrainian military has more tanks on the ground than the Russian forces.”
No way to know if that assessment includes Russian formations replenishing in Russia, or just units in Ukraine. Either way, thIs has got to sting.
After almost two months of trying to do your worst to Ukraine, Ukraine now has more tanks?
Ukraine has its own bag of problems – not enough air defense from jets and cruise missiles, a small Air Force, supply difficulties getting stuff to cities that are fully or partially besieged, parts shortages for repairing equipment, etc.
But, Ukrainians now have real cause for hope.
The initial attacks that were supposed to quickly seize Kyiv, the government, and key Eastern cities all failed.
Not only failed, but suffered heavy losses Russia struggles to replace. Low morale, sluggish mobility, severe supply problems, and a flexible enemy that has you on your heels tactically are not problems that can be sorted with a few weeks of refitting and replacement soldiers.
Russia still has a lot more artillery, air dominance, long range missiles, private mercenary forces (ie. the SS-like Wagner Group plus foreign recruits), and soldiers that now have realistic and valuable combat experience. And, thousands of old tanks in storage, even if only one in four or five can be rendered operable.
After almost two months of Ukraine’s surprise survival, it looks like they could be slugging it out for months to come.
See Macgregor video – the Russians have 40,000 Ukraine troops surrounded and cut off from supplies.
The US wants Ukraine to fight to the last Ukrainian against a superpower.
Sure they do, just let me ask, based on what? Because dementia joe said he was sending them? I am not going to waste my time reading an article that is obviously propaganda. You have read Russia just took a major city, right?
I am optimistic Putin is doing just fine and look forward to him finishing what he started out to do. Which is to protect his border from the USA IC meddling in his countries affairs.
Putin lovers out in force, as usual.
A source for “40,000” Ukrainian troops “cut off” and a location would be helpful for evaluating the claim.
And, what major city have the Russians captured? The only possibility I see is Mariopul(sp?), where those holding out at The Azov steel plant are still holding out.
And, “obviously propaganda” is an easy excuse for dismissing an article at a well established military news website.
And, Russia does a good job of spreading its own propaganda, which some American conservatives find irresistible.

The Embedded Costs of Going Green | Yellow Bullet Forums
This is very helpful in understanding the energy discussion.
What is a battery?’ I think Nicholas Tesla said it best when he called it an Energy Storage System. That’s an important distinction.
They do not make electricity – they store electricity produced elsewhere, primarily by coal, uranium, natural gas-powered plants, or diesel-fueled generators. So, to say an EV is a zero-emission vehicle is not at all valid.
Also, since forty percent of the electricity generated in the U.S. is from coal-fired plants, it follows that forty percent of the EVs on the road are coal-powered, do you see?
Einstein’s formula, E=MC2, tells us it takes the same amount of energy to move a five-thousand-pound gasoline-driven automobile a mile as it does an electric one. The only question again is what produces the power? To reiterate, it does not come from the battery; the battery is only the storage device, like a gas tank in a car.
There are two orders of batteries, rechargeable, and single-use. The most common single-use batteries are A, AA, AAA, C, D. 9V, and lantern types. Those dry-cell species use zinc, manganese, lithium, silver oxide, or zinc and carbon to store electricity chemically. Please note they all contain toxic, heavy metals.
Rechargeable batteries only differ in their internal materials, usually lithium-ion, nickel-metal oxide, and nickel-cadmium. The United States uses three billion of these two battery types a year, and most are not recycled; they end up in landfills. California is the only state which requires all batteries be recycled. If you throw your small, used batteries in the trash, here is what happens to them.
All batteries are self-discharging. That means even when not in use, they leak tiny amounts of energy. You have likely ruined a flashlight or two from an old, ruptured battery. When a battery runs down and can no longer power a toy or light, you think of it as dead; well, it is not. It continues to leak small amounts of electricity. As the chemicals inside it run out, pressure builds inside the battery’s metal casing, and eventually, it cracks. The metals left inside then ooze out. The ooze in your ruined flashlight is toxic, and so is the ooze that will inevitably leak from every battery in a landfill. All batteries eventually rupture; it just takes rechargeable batteries longer to end up in the landfill.
In addition to dry cell batteries, there are also wet cell ones used in automobiles, boats, and motorcycles. The good thing about those is, ninety percent of them are recycled. Unfortunately, we do not yet know how to recycle single-use ones properly.
But that is not half of it. For those of you excited about electric cars and a green revolution, I want you to take a closer look at batteries and also windmills and solar panels. These three technologies share what we call environmentally destructive embedded costs.
Everything manufactured has two costs associated with it, embedded costs and operating costs. I will explain embedded costs using a can of baked beans as my subject.
In this scenario, baked beans are on sale, so you jump in your car and head for the grocery store. Sure enough, there they are on the shelf for $1.75 a can. As you head to the checkout, you begin to think about the embedded costs in the can of beans.
The first cost is the diesel fuel the farmer used to plow the field, till the ground, harvest the beans, and transport them to the food processor. Not only is his diesel fuel an embedded cost, so are the costs to build the tractors, combines, and trucks. In addition, the farmer might use a nitrogen fertilizer made from natural gas.
Next is the energy costs of cooking the beans, heating the building, transporting the workers, and paying for the vast amounts of electricity used to run the plant. The steel can holding the beans is also an embedded cost. Making the steel can requires mining taconite, shipping it by boat, extracting the iron, placing it in a coal-fired blast furnace, and adding carbon. Then it’s back on another truck to take the beans to the grocery store. Finally, add in the cost of the gasoline for your car.
A typical EV battery weighs one thousand pounds, about the size of a travel trunk. It contains twenty-five pounds of lithium, sixty pounds of nickel, 44 pounds of manganese, 30 pounds cobalt, 200 pounds of copper, and 400 pounds of aluminum, steel, and plastic. Inside are over 6,000 individual lithium-ion cells.
It should concern you that all those toxic components come from mining. For instance, to manufacture each EV auto battery, you must process 25,000 pounds of brine for the lithium, 30,000 pounds of ore for the cobalt, 5,000 pounds of ore for the nickel, and 25,000 pounds of ore for copper. All told, you dig up 500,000 pounds of the earth’s crust for just one battery.”
Sixty-eight percent of the world’s cobalt, a significant part of a battery, comes from the Congo. Their mines have no pollution controls, and they employ children who die from handling this toxic material. Should we factor in these diseased kids as part of the cost of driving an electric car?”
I’d like to leave you with these thoughts. California is building the largest battery in the world near San Francisco, and they intend to power it from solar panels and windmills. They claim this is the ultimate in being ‘green,’ but it is not! This construction project is creating an environmental disaster. Let me tell you why.
The main problem with solar arrays is the chemicals needed to process silicate into the silicon used in the panels. To make pure enough silicon requires processing it with hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrogen fluoride, trichloroethane, and acetone. In addition, they also need gallium, arsenide, copper-indium-gallium- diselenide, and cadmium-telluride, which also are highly toxic. Silicone dust is a hazard to the workers, and the panels cannot be recycled.
Windmills are the ultimate in embedded costs and environmental destruction. Each weighs 1688 tons (the equivalent of 23 houses) and contains 1300 tons of concrete, 295 tons of steel, 48 tons of iron, 24 tons of fiberglass, and the hard to extract rare earths neodymium, praseodymium, and dysprosium. Each blade weighs 81,000 pounds and will last 15 to 20 years, at which time it must be replaced. We cannot recycle used blades. Sadly, both solar arrays and windmills kill birds, bats, sea life, and migratory insects.
There may be a place for these technologies, but you must look beyond the myth of zero emissions. I predict EVs and windmills will be abandoned once the embedded environmental costs of making and replacing them become apparent. “Going Green” may sound like the Utopian ideal and are easily espoused, catchy buzzwords, but when you look at the hidden and embedded costs realistically with an open mind, you can see that Going Green is more destructive to the Earth’s environment than meets the eye, for sure.
Thank you for this in-depth description of these processes. Are you a scientist or work in the field of batteries? Before I quote you on all this amazing information it would be helpful to have some sources. The Greenies are going to try to blow this all off as right-wing propaganda.
Augie, you can find the link if you put your cursor over the first sentence of the post (title).
Thank you
Once we achieve matter/energy interoperability with the veritable limitless energy of the universe, perhaps ‘green’ will become a thing. My bet is we’ll destroy ourselves long before evolving to that level.

‘Illegal invader causes casualty of U.S. soldier’ . . .?
“Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for his brother.”
Let’s review some recent happenings. In the past few months 20, food processing plants have caught fire and burned down. Can anyone remember that ever happening before? The left screams food shortage, then mysteriously 20 food processing plants burn to the ground, but this rarely makes the evening news anywhere. Hummm?
The Union Pacific railroad has unilaterally decided to cut fertilizer shipments to dealers. Peachy, huh? Reduced fertilizer means lower crop yields (perhaps a very large reduction in crop yields) at a time food is supposed to be scarce. Now, why would they do such a boneheaded thing?
And finally, it seems the USDA is reducing the number of meat inspectors. In my area, only one remains and he is now responsible for multiple slaughterhouses. My butcher tells me the backlog for beef in his shop is now 8 months because of the inspection delay. It is difficult and in some places impossible to sell uninspected meat. An 8-month backlog to fill a meat order from our butcher is unheard of. Why would the USDA create this problem? One can’t help but wonder.
How much evidence needs to accumulate before the sheeple figure out most of these crises are created by the government who is supposed to be looking out for our welfare. It seems to me all of the above can only mean our own government has become our enemy. You?
Exactly. Where are the senators and representative from those states? Why are they not speaking out? Are we now the Country of Stupid?
all that un-inspected and un-sellable meat will need to be diverted to secondary destinations, like donations to soup kitchens to feed all these illegals and afghan intruders, and now ukranians
refugees-R-Us
Tell your butcher you’ll be happy to buy any meat he has available — without it being inspected.
The inspector is just another federal employee who makes too much money and thinks they are more important than they are.
We’ve been buying meat locally, from someone who never has their beef or pork “inspected.”
EXACTLY ! My butcher has very nice exceptionally clean facilities …but has been waiting months and months for USDA license. My meat packages are marked NOT FOR SALE, which he is required to do. Once I pick up meat, what *I* do with it is my business. There are people who like to have nice grass fed organic meat for their dogs, ya know!
When the people and even the sheeple begin to starve, food and sustenance will get sold and/or bartered without the stamp of ‘gubberment’ approval.
Anyone that gets in the way of a meal and a hungry or starving mans family would be making a YUGE mistake.

Nice research there, Politico. Adding his religion at the end is a nice touch.
He has made some strategic errors in this election (I live in his district). He decided, after the first re-districting, to run in a different, more Republican district. So, because he was not running in his original district, something like 8 or 9 people decided to vie for the seat including another MAGA candidate who was the head of the Republican Party in Henderson County.
Then, after the first re-districting was redistricted ( this is NC and the Republicans are not permitted to re-district even though they control the state Legislature because they are “racist”) and the judges are all Dems, he changed his mind and decided to run in his original district.
It’s really too bad because the MAGA vote is going to be splintered and the RINO could win.
He voted for a bill that takes away gun ownership from Vets with PTSD and claims it was buried in another bill which means he did not read the bill and neither did anyone on his staff. He has horrible staff who have no clue what customer service means…I swear the worst staff ever…that generation is clue less. I will vote for him only because the RINO’s hate him..but I do not know if he will make it across the finish line.
