Why are you saying that the gas price in March is a result of Putin? We were only buying about 4% of our petroleum from Russia. Putin doesn’t set the market price of oil.
The price of oil is due to Biden restricting the US supply of oil and having to buy it competitively on the market. Knowing this, the market can price its petroleum higher, restrict their own production as the price moves upward until they get a price they want from the US.
Biden banned Russian oil imports on 3-8-22. The ban doesn’t go into effect for 45 days. That is 4-22-22. The Russians and Putin have had no effect on oil and gas prices to date. We still have 3 weeks of Russian imports to go. Todays prices are all the fault of Biden. FJB and FJP.
Heating oil is used by a lot homes in the Democrat controlled Northeast. Wait until they see what the cost to heat their homes will be next winter!!! To bad they won’t feel the pinch until after the November election!! Not that the increase would change any votes but it might when they realize how cold their homes will be all winter long!
Retired Magistrate here: Heating oil is used here in mostly conservative Delaware County, Ohio. Under President Trump it was between $1.90 and $2.64 per gallon. The last time I looked it is now $4.82 per gallon; the highest it has ever been. What that means is for us to fill up our two 275 gallon tanks it will cost $2,651 and that would not get us through the heating season. We usually get filled up 2 times a heating season. Of course we don’t let it get down to zero; we usually get filled up when we have 200 or so gallons left so we don’t run out. Our house is kept between 63-65 degrees; we just put on more clothes.
I expect that fuel oil prices will go up in the Fall so I am budgeting approximately $4,200 for home heating oil expenses. We do not have the option of natural gas where we live, so the only other option is propane and it isn’t cheap either and we would have to replace our furnace. We have saved for emergencies such as this; however, many people have not. When people ask if we go on vacations, I say no, the vacation money is in our fuel oil tank.

I used heating oil for central heat and hot water when I lived in Central Maryland. I turned it off until I needed heat or hot water (there was a switch on the boiler) and we used electric space heaters when we could. I cringed every time I needed to get a full up, especially during a few $4+/gallon years under Obama. I’m so happy that I don’t deal with that now.
