We should all do like AZ and HI… they don’t bother.
Go to the South Rim at the Grand Canyon and your phone goes nuts… it keeps going back and forth from AZ to NV time.
Now, in Hawai’i.. well they’re usually Hawai’ian time anyhow… so what’s two or three hours? Heck, in the last two years they’ve on a been Two Week Hawai’ian Chinee Flu Quarante’ene Time… what’s an hour or more? That’s something only da haoles in da Mainland bother with.
Lived in Az most my life. Its true, we have none of that foolishness, BUT, since everybody ELSE does, we STILL have to take it into account when dealing with those out of State.

Interesting Trivia:
Q: What industry lobbied the hardest for the extension to our present dates/periods of daylight savings time?
A: The BBQ/Grilling industry (Kingsford et al) because they knew that when it is light out after work, people grill more.
The first automated time service in the United States began in Atlanta, Georgia in 1934 as a promotion for Tick Tock Ginger Ale. Company owner John Franklin modified Western Electric technology to create the machine that would become known as the Audichron. The Audichron Company became the chief supplier of talking clocks in the US, maintained by local businesses and, later, the regional Bell System companies.
The service became typically known as the “Time of Day” service, with the term “speaking clock” never being used. Occasionally it would be called “Time and Temperature” or simply “Time”. However, the service has been phased out in most states (Nevada and Connecticut still maintain service). AT&T discontinued its California service in September 2007, citing the widespread availability of sources such as mobile phones and computers.
I recall my Dad was trying to call home, kept getting a busy signal.
When he got home, found my five year old sister had been listening to the automated time thing, for over 20 minutes, and laughing.
Ah, the days of rotary phones and landlines!
I miss the simplicity!
I remember the party line. I remember as a kid listening in for something to do, I had no idea I was invading privacy. Just think of the millions of dollars wasted by the gummint when a system was already in place.
“What that means is that people throughout Southern California will no longer be able to call 853-1212 to hear a woman’s recorded voice state that “at the tone, Pacific Daylight Time will be . . .” with the recording automatically updating at 10-second intervals.”

I set my clocks back yesterday just to get a day ahead.
LOL! Should have said forward. No, I didn’t goof, I set them ahead to have an extra day to get used to the nonsense.

Why do we move our clocks forward? Because the government tells us to. Just another government effort for them to show us they are in charge.
And, even though no one remembers any good reason to continue doing this, like all government programs, it continues on in perpetuity.
Mine at 4 am because that has always been my wake up time. Once I retired and tried to sleep longer the dogs weren’t having any of it… they eat at 4 am STILL. But, we all now go back to bed and snooze for a few hours more.

I’m all in favor of everyone setting all the clocks to the UTC, or Greenwich Mean Time, year round. It might be fun to watch the temporary reaction when you tell an east coast teenager he can sleep in because school doesn’t start until noon………
I’ve never liked DST and doubt that I ever will. I hate the flip flopping and having to remember whether to flip or flop twice per year. Falling back is easier (unless you’re working night shift–I know from experience) but spring ahead messes me up for days. Just leave the clocks alone!
Yes, as my grandmother used to say, the Lords time.

Nobody here likes it either. Somehow it messes up the body’s rhythm.
One year I tried staying on real time but it didn’t work (appointments). So I might try again except I don’t know how to prevent electronics that change automatically from going with the natzi dictates. Wish I lived deep in the woods somewhere now that I know, (no) thanks to covid, I can live in solitary confinement. 😎

Maybe my favorite day of the year! 😊
I never changed my car clock, so it’s back on time again! And now I get to see daylight after my work day is over!
Now to end the practice of turning the clock back in November for good.

Yeah…we always remember now. Easiey in retirement.
While we were working, once we forgot to set our bedroom clock back in October and when we got to the commuter light rail station, we wondered where the typical Monday morning crowd was.

I am reminded of a bit of Amish wisdom. I was talking with an old Amish man at an auction and the conversation moved to work days and such. He could not understand DST. Work started and sunrise and ended at dusk, year round. I asked him how the shorter winter days affected him. “There is less work to do in the winter so we don’t need as much time. There is a lot to do in the summer so the Good Lord blesses us with more time to get it done.”
I have always marveled at that simple bit of wisdom about God’s providence.

If you use a fit bit watch and do steps–The steps app is all wacko when the time changes for daylight savings time or when you fly.
Problem is mainland is now one more hour ahead of us (+6 to the east coast). So tomorrow expect a lot of 7 AM spam calls.
This is so exciting! Sitting on the edge of my seat . . .

No can do, still hibernating!
I couldn’t adjust my stupid car’s clock last fall, so I’m good tomorrow!
I got too many timers in the house, so I just let them be.
My VCR clock just got changed from a flashing “12:00” to a flashing “1:00”.
I like your style.

I’m here all week.
“I tried the veal and I tipped my server.”
I thought it was the train people. I grill no matter what time it is.
With you there.
Nope. It was the farmers. Kids could worksheets felonies after school. Fact.
Nope it was the city folks for more golf time.
FACT Robert, you’re wrong.

When it comes posting this public service announcement…
All I can say is it’s about time 🙂
Can anyone identify when this was spoken ? 🕚

Very good, but technically you didn’t answer the question! 🤓

Retired Magistrate here: Well, we still have the wall hung land line with the push buttons. Works just fine, thank you.

If I recall from my broadcasting years, I believe that would have been the Naval Observatory? Yes/No?
Very possibly but not sure.
Yes
853-1212???
“What that means is that people throughout Southern California will no longer be able to call 853-1212 to hear a woman’s recorded voice state that “at the tone, Pacific Daylight Time will be . . .” with the recording automatically updating at 10-second intervals.”

Spring Forward, Fall Back.
Sounds like you might’ve goofed!

I dunno… But my boss still expects me at work by 630..not 730.
One less hour of lies.
Ill take it
Why do they make it 2am?
I can’t think of a more inconvenient time to have to change your clocks.
Last call
Probably not as disruptive to broadcasting schedules.
My puppies will be happy for an ‘early’ breakfast!
Yep. The dogs don’t care what the clock says. They know when its time to wake up and when its time to eat.
Mine wake up just after sunrise. Really tiring around June.
Mine at 4 am because that has always been my wake up time. Once I retired and tried to sleep longer the dogs weren’t having any of it… they eat at 4 am STILL. But, we all now go back to bed and snooze for a few hours more.

Can we just set it backwards three years?
Or at least forward by 3 years. 😁

A prime example why the power needs to go back to the states
