On the geopolitical side, the situation in Ukraine is quickly becoming BRICS -vs- NATO et al. However, on the corporatist side, the multinationals must align with their World Economic Forum masters.
This could ultimately backfire if it was real (think of where the stuff is manufactured). Alas, in this example of Nike corporate hypocrisy, it’s just a virtue-signaling position created in the branding suites of multinational PR firms.
March 1 (Reuters) – Nike Inc has made merchandise purchases on its website and app unavailable in Russia as it cannot guarantee delivery of goods to customers in the country, an update on the sportswear maker’s website showed on Tuesday.
This is the latest response by a U.S. company to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with Hollywood studios Disney, Warner Bros, and Sony Pictures Entertainment saying they would pause theatrical releases of upcoming films in Russia.
The update on Nike’s website, however, directed its customers to their nearest Nike stores, although it was not immediately clear when the disclosure popped up on the website. Nike is a great example of how private companies can impose sanctions against Russia, Ukrainian Member of Parliament Lesia Vasylenko tweeted. (read more)

I worked at the corporate office for 15 years and can say they’re a bunch of hypocrites. i learned to hate the company.
At the big campus with an artificial lake in Beaverton?
I was there in IT.
I was in Dan Fouts, Nolan Ryan and a couple of others – and also ended up in the old Tektronix campus as well as the BE complex. They spent a lot of money moving us around. An absolutely gorgeous campus but you can’t put it in your bank account. I was in Retail Finance and then the Tax Department. I liked most of my co-workers but the management and overall culture changed – from my perspective. I don’t miss it AT ALL.
I stopped buying when they took a knee
Phil Knight deserves to be hung from the nearest lamp post. And all those who have taken Nikes money deserve the same.
Bill Walton the legendary Liberal Loon who does announcing on ESPN for college basketball is in love with Phil Knight, which means Walton loves Chinese slave labor.
I stop buying anything Nike items.
Because Big socialism communist.
And as my Podiatrist tells all of his patients: “Nike makes crap. Buy New Balance.”
I walk when I play golf, 7 miles a round. I used to wear Nike as they were the ones I found that I could wear for 7 miles comfortably without paying a fortune. Now New Balance makes golf shoes better than Nike.
MBT’a are the best for me. I stopped buying anything Nike years ago.
Been a New Balance customer for over 30 years. Hold up well and are a good buy.
Made in ‘Merica
started buying New Balance since I boycotted Nike years ago
GREAT SNEAKER
YES! I ONLY wear New Balance!
I like saucony but I have a beef with them.
Their highest priced walker was the best for my foot and long hours standing. Suddenly, they quit making it and in an online chat tried to tell me the next (integrity) one was the ‘upgraded’ version of the omni, which was my favorite. Marketing 101. lie like hell.
You can’t put lipstick on a pig and make it something else, which is what they tried to do. I had bought the lower scale integrity model already and found it to be seriously inferior in all aspects.
I looked on the website for a ‘contact us’ to voice my displease. Funny that, there was none.
I am due for a new pair of work shoes and am in a quandary (Nike, Sketchers, Reebok, New Balance don’t work for me and now, neither does Saucony).
I had a pattern for each pair, 9 months for work, then house shoes, then dog walking shoes, then lawn shoes–I do get my money’s worth!
Have you tried HOKAs? I’m a nurse and a lot of my coworkers wear them and love them. I wear Saucony shoes. They work best for me.
Same here; for well over five years.
For some reason, the only shoe I can wear is SAS…otherwise I just keep falling to the ground when walking. Maybe its cause I have gone barefooted for most of my life, eh?
Because they make good shoes with a great last. Loved them for 50 years.
Simple answer…
New Balance
Their shoes are very good!
Made in Maine!
Some of them; remember to look for the lable:
dd_sc: Not to rain on the parade, but New Balance only makes a few models in the US and the UK.
If you visit the New Balance website, you will find them to be every bit as woke, globalist and mulitcultural as Nike.
New Balance needs to hire better designers. Seriously. Making old men’s shoes is no way to run a shoe business, Junior
The only NB shoes made in Maine cost almost $200 and think again about NB being made in the USA
https://www.newbalance.com/on/demandware.static/-/Library-Sites-NBUS-NBCA/default/dwf93d8f0a/pdf/NB_Tier_1_Supplier_List_Feb_2021.xlsx
Yes, they ccot almost $200 because instead of paying a worker 0.25c for days worth of work, they must pay at a minimum $12 (IDK Maine’s min. wage) in Maine. That’s a significant increase in overhead and that’s only labor costs. Now add in electricity, heat, equipment, operating costs, etc- all higher in the U.S.
Yes, if you want to buy Made in USA, you will more than likely be paying more and that’s by design.
and if made in anywhere, it still probably only costs about $5 per pair, given said expenses (am guessing).
The rest is pure profit.
Materials, labor, packaging, transporting for typical shoes is a lot more than $5 if being shipped from Asia. Globalists work on economy of scale. The profit margins are lower than you think. This is how they destroyed the family farm and smaller businesses. We can thank Reagan for starting this trend mainly in agriculture, along with the continuing flood of illegal aliens. The way “conservatives” worship Reagan is sickening.
I just buy the cheapest decent tennis shoe at costco and wear them until they start falling apart. Buy the product that has the lowest profit margin, thus putting as few dollars in the globalists pockets as possible. I can usually find decent Adidas at around $40. Bimart has some decent work boots at around $40.
They have a factory store in my old hometown of Skowhegan.
Should any readers find yourselves in Central Maine, they do an annual tent sale in August normally if you can time it right for some good deals.
Also, IIRC they do military and first responder discounts in their store as well year round.
Nike should be known as Commie shoes.
.
I feel like making a tee shirt: NIKE. Just Don’t.
.
Do it! Great!
Recently lost some weight and had to get new shirts – of course no Nike
Took all my old shirts, except Nike, to charity. Those were cut into rags and in garage for oil changes.
I envy your problem.
Many Russians have obtained US addresses where someone lives who will ship to them whatever they want to buy in the US. Mail to Russia has been so unreliable that many sellers on eBay and Etsy will not mail goods to Russia. Mail from Russia has been so unreliable that I am still waiting 12 years later for charoite beads I bought from a Russian seller to arrive. (I know – they have long ago disappeared.)
Definitely virtue signaling by Nike and others. Hypocritical and silly, too.
I sell on eBay and I will mail to Russia, but no international shipping can be guaranteed without tracked services, not even communist Canada.
I don’t sell outside the US since Covid to hard to get delivers.
More mind numbing hypocrisy. Just like the Democommunists want secure borders and democracy for Ukraine but want open borders and communism here.
All intentional
Bingo!
Brilliant stuff, Globogeniuses…
—————

Buckle up and hang onto your freakin’ hats…
… and if you don’t have a hat to hang onto… you better buy one now, ‘cuz they’re gonna get real expensive.
Yeah, it’s all going according to plan. I have a weird feeling that this has been in the works for many, many years.
Regarding mr. Piddle’s link above… you have to actually go and read the tweet to understand my reaction to it. It is actually really scary.
No Twitter zone.
Hang onto your hat, Bob.
This means the end of our economy as we know it. All this is intentional. Get ready to lose all your savings. You will have nothing and love it…
Exactly 👍 👌 ✅️ 💯
Another “war” objective achieved
I did see another piece of info Russia is going to gold.
With so much going around-hard to say if my info is accurate.
There it is. Exactly what I have been saying for years. Putin even said we are cutting off the branch we are sitting on by destroying our currency with reckless spending.
Apparently Russians don’t waste their hard earned money on Nike shoes!
I’m sure the Russians will worry if Addidas bans their products in Russia.
Side note but related: I have a feeling corporate espionage is going to soar in the coming years. With Russia excluded from Western markets there’s no reason why they wouldn’t by information or reverse engineer those products to develop in house for their own market. This has the potential to turn out well for them.
It would depend on if Russia cares if it’s general population has access to those items. Soviet Russia didn’t care and people waited 10 years for a car to be built because there was only one car factory. People would wait 3 years to get a phone line installed in their apartment. They might bother reverse engineering – or not.
In a partnership with China, ip will not be a stumbling block.
Overpriced sneakers allowing for self-righteous posturing to cloak their own hypocrisy.
Nike is the epitome of corporate hypocrisy.
Apple stopped selling iPhones in Russia. Someone asked if they will stop building them in China if they invade Taiwan.
…which, according to Gateway Pundit this evening, has been hit with widespread power outages, including Taipei.
Hard to believe Bill Bowerman or Prefontaine would have went along with what Nike has become.
If it weren’t for their double standards they’d have no standards at all………
So, how many longer is the Ukrainian dumpster fire going to burn before Ukraine ends this and allows Russia to take the Eastern Ukrainian Russian speaking regions? What’s the point of letting the carnage continue another day when the outcome was sealed before the first shot was fired. The Russian people who live in Eastern Ukraine want to be in Russia! Nothing is going to change their minds because they hate the Ukrainians. No matter how many Tweets, YT Videos, songs and Yellow/blue flags we fly it won’t stop Russian artillery barrages. What’s the point of fighting another day except to give Biden a boost in the polls!
Check this out Joe. You and the author seem to be beating the same drum. He also thinks this is going to go a bit further. In this instance I hope he’s correct.
https://tomluongo.me/2022/03/02/opening-salvos-tossed-putin-next-moves-ukraine/
People are dying for nothing! There’s no way that Ukraine can win no matter what brand of sneakers we stop selling in Russia. What is the reason for Zelenshy’s beer muscles? He’s not an idiot and knows that he can’t defeat Russia!
Agreed
Scapegoat Putin.
“Hollywood studios Disney, Warner Bros, and Sony Pictures Entertainment”
Not just North Korean Slave Labor… those companies have no problem doing business with the Chinese Communist Party… you know, the one with the concentration camps.
That’s how we know that the words after the Holocaust, “never again”, means nothing.
The virtue signaling is rampant already. Saw a guy waiving a big Ukrainian flag on an overpass of I35 in Texas today. Then, the employee at the USPS had on a Ukrainian ribbon/pin of some sort. Also, received 2 emails (forwarded from a relative) from 2 different Baptist organizations that were “raising money” for the Ukrainian people. No mention of the Baptists in Russia or the innocent citizens there. 🙄 The emails were complete with video and dramatic pleadings. No mention of rampant thuggery in both countries. No no…none of that truth.
There is a distinct worldwide smell to this whole sudden coordinated event…and it is not very fragrant.
Betsy jones: It’s the same centrally coordinated global activism as Covid. Governments mandate and sanction, media trumpets and echos the party script, and corporations do the virtue signaling and the cancellation.
Billrla, I should have read one more comment. I just said the same exact thing.
Smells a little like covid
And, another…next time, I’m reading all trail threads before responding to a comment. I just wrote the same.
Yes, it reeks of the same odor that preceded Covid.
That is the kind of stuff that makes me crazy. I truly despise band wagon people. The amount of money laundering off this gig is going to be astronomical.
Last week my preacher prayed for Russia, and Ukraine. He mentioned that Billy Graham has ministries in both countries and that we needed to pray for both countries, as that both countries are suffering due to politics. I was so proud of him for not doing the band wagon, and I was more than happy to pray for the Russians too. The World Sucks and we all need prayers, or at best some positive thoughts to slay the evil.
How do we get these companies to boycott the US? I’d love it if their sh!tty products disappeared forever
I’m going to post again.
New Balance (NB) shoes are premium folks, but they rock!
Hypocrisy at its finest.
Ok, all you CTH watchers and thinkers, I have a question for one and all.
It seems the globalists are hell bent on “regime change” in Russia, but not in China.
Why?
Both countries are abysmal on human rights and democratic freedoms, both countries have nuclear weapons, and both countries are ostensible opponents (enemies?) of the United States. Yet, only one of them is condemned, vilified and targeted for regime change. (And to make matters worse, the much lesser threat to the US is the country that is condemned and sanctioned the most)
Why?
Is Russia beta-testing the US reaction to invasions of other countries? Is China observing this and calibrating how they will “acquire” Taiwan?
Asking for a friend…..
Putin doesn’t seem to be of the NWO crowd, and no way he has done any of this w/out Xi’s support. Not sure we have to be tested because the entire world knows we are weak, corrupt, and stupid. So I don’t know. Unfortunately the reply system doesn’t work for me so I doubt I will remember to come back and check to see what the answer is.
My question is if Russia and US were to go to war…
Both would have depleted munitions. Regardless of winner.
Who/what country would benefit from that?
Without firing a shot.
If it goes nuclear, nobody wins, everybody loses.
Maximus-Cassius: ‘Ok, all you CTH watchers and thinkers, I have a question for one and all. It seems the globalists are hell bent on “regime change” in Russia, but not in China. Why?‘
I have your answer.
Although I’m not one of the recognized great sages of the site, I do have an opinion about that, and you did ask “for one and all”; so here ya go:
The reason is:
Russia, China, the EU, the Uniparty and the Globalists, and all their allies – they’re all in on this together.
Whatever is going to happen in Ukraine has already been decided by all those parties. Everything else (all the “press”, the virtue signaling, EVERYTHING) is “state propaganda” – a scripted production playing out like a TV series.
Russia is the selected “boogyman”. A “nuclear war” isn’t REALLY going to happen if Russia “goes to far” – because how far they go is already written into the script; and all the principals know how it’s all expected to play out. The show is for us – the multitudes of people that aren’t “in the big club” – it’s their “bread and circuses” for all of us.
Russia (and BRIC) plays their parts. We all get to point at them and proclaim what a “renegade” Russia is and how their going to throw sand into the WEF “gears”. But the sand they throw is “prop sand” – just a simple a part of the plot – drama for us, tools for our hateful governments to use as targets of blame in order to further their narratives.
Even here, everyone is focused on figuring out which “side” is the “more virtuous” side (usually the WEF/Globalists side being heavily disfavored). THEY’RE ALL ON THE SAME SIDE as fas as the worldwide enroaching totalitarianism goes.
I would not be surprised at all if I were to learn that, in Russia, the “press” (state propaganda – same same as ours) is “badmouthing” us the same way our state propaganda is badmouthing them. IT’S ALL A PLAY – FOR US.
It’s just more “divide and conquer” – which (I don’t like saying) has been a rather successful strategy for them (for all sides).
That’s your answer – it’s all a scripted show.
The base reason still seems the to fit the best. Putin moved on Ukraine to push the CIA-State Dept-etc, back
on it’s heels with their plans to bring the Ukraine into NATO. That’s it. He’ll grab the eastern part of the country
& the rest of the world can pound sand.
Unlike here, he doesn’t breakout in hives & need to fan himself from adozen negative tweets.
Maximus, I will focus on one portion of your comment “Both countries are abysmal on human rights and democratic freedoms…”
I’ve been to both countries. Yes, China has these camps, they lock people down, they track people, they make people disappear. As I mentioned I have been there numerous times- you can sens this and feel it all around you, the government watching. It’s kind of eery.
Russia- sorry, you don’t get that feeling. Yes, maybe during the 80’s, 90’s and such. But, not over the last decade or so. I I don’t see anything different in Russia than what happens here, in the US. Political prisoners- check. Abuse by law enforcement for state actors- check. Infringment on rights- check (more so in the US, our rights are outlined by the Constitution), and elected officials acting as oligarchs using government power and resources to enrich themselves while stomping out others- check.
I don’t think Russia is beta testing anything I think Putin is tired of the WEF, Nato, the EU, and others parking weapons and Biolabs on his doorstep, all the while projecting their wrongs and woes onto Russia. I think Putin wants Russia to be taken seriously on the world stage and he’s tired of the doublespeak. And that is all. He has said so.
And, yes, Putin could be lying but “could be” is a large variance as compared to the fact our leaders are definitively lying to us.
Love how Nike idolizes the “spirit” of legendary distance runner, Steve Prefontaine. Oh really? You mean the guy who died in an automobile accident because he was had .16 blood alchohol content
Are you talking about the spirit of the guy who collapsed in the final lap and finished out of medal contention in the 1972 5000 meter Olympic final
Meanwhile a runner named Dave Wottle won the 800 meters in ’72 with one of the most scintillating finishes in Olympic history. But he was one of those patriotic types, so he just didnt have enuff “spirit” to represent Nike
Callmelennie: I remember Dave Wottle. Thanks for the reference.
I’ve been boycotting NIKE for over 25 years. They were slave owners by proxy then & the only thing that’s changed is that they don’t bother to deny it now.
I won’t be a slave to corporations or a gubmint.
Ford made some announcement today about suspending operations in Russia. I suspect it was going to happen anyway, but of course they virtue signalled it was all about Ukraine..
Well, I’m not going to use Russian dressing.
Take THAT! s/
Prefer Thousand Islands, to be honest… anyhoo… I’ve canceled that Babushka Dolls order I was so looking forward to… just wouldn’t feel right… oh well… :^(
I had a chuckle on Monday when GM announced they would no longer sell vehicles in Russia..
Someone asked if it was meant as economic sanctions against Russian tow truck drivers. XD
Guys take a look at this. I think this is what is going down. Davos is out of cards perhaps and Putin still has some aces.
https://tomluongo.me/2022/03/02/opening-salvos-tossed-putin-next-moves-ukraine/
Interesting article.
I read one link to Vox ..I don’t usually read Vox…they are..Iffy
The article surprised me
Not sure what you are referring to. I don’t see Vox in the header and I assure it has nothing to do with Vox. Am I missing something?
That’s rich.
Sorry to tell Nike, but China is gonna sell Russians the Nikes whether Nike likes it or not.
Nike Corporation also has a real problem of supporting Democrat sympathizers and their rich donors.
What does Hillary have on Phil Knight? That might be a good thing to look into.
Nike…. I would rather wear rags and duct tape.
Does Russia really give a rats a$$. Russia and China believe they can attack and defeat the US. Imagine taking on this alliance with the clowns in the pentagon leading a brigade of troops dressed in cocktail dresses and responding to orders from General Milley. On the positive side, the pregnant fighter pilots have better fitting flight suits.
Speaking of soldiers wearing dresses.
https://www.veteranstoday.com/2022/03/02/blockbuster-drag-queen-zelensky-found-a-billion-dollars-and-a-villa-in-miami/
Nike has a pass from the MSM. Leftard hipsters wear Nike.
More generally…. because some “conservative” talking head opposes the Russian invasion of Ukraine , that doesn’t make the head a “globalist”. That’s a tortuous, niche conclusion found mostly here.
The idea that because Biden’s handlers seek cover and advantage from the Russian invasion, that somehow makes the invasion “sort of ok” because to oppose it might assist Biden’s handlers narrative is unworthy and bizarre.
Unless countries borders are sacrosanct from ethnic reunification, no country on earth is safe.
I would find it hard to distinguish them from the rest of the litter on those cities’ streets.
I have never owned anything wi NIKE on it. Ever.
Nike: Just Enslave Them!
Knock-off brands should be free to use the Nike label in Russia with no penalty. After all Nike would provably not be losing any money from it.
Nike is overrated… I get all my Nike gear direct from China…
When the likes of Nike, Abbott of Texas, Manchin, UPS, and all the other NGO’s (as Hillary calls them)., throw sanctions intended to injure the Russian people, Putin, who is protecting his citizens, becomes more resolved than ever to see this thing through.
In addition, NGO people seem to think their sanction is, somehow, like throwing a free punch at Putin. They don’t yet understand Putin punches back.
Wimsey says Putin should be tried at The Hague, grumbles about how Putin has killed people. Guess Lindsey hasn’t heard of Michael Hastings, Seth Rich, Philip Haney, Benghazi?
https://news.yahoo.com/putin-a-war-criminal-and-should-be-tried-at-hague-lindsay-graham-says-185709346.html
Oh, he’s well aware of those things. It’s just that he has selective hearing.
Thought that it was selective memory. Maybe it’s just a “UniParty ” thing.
Probably both, now that you mention it…..
More virtue signaling from low life American corporations. Sadly, millions of Americans are too stupid or invested in the Nike fantasy to get WTF is actually happening.
True. I must confess to participating, though, as I use an iPhone.
let’s see….
nike makes sneakers in China.
China is Russia’s ally.
China gives Russia the nike sneakers.
Yeah. But didn’t nike virtue signal so good?
The anti-Russia hysteria is really beyond parody at this point. Russian-born cats are now being banned to protest the war in Ukraine.
Cats.
https://nitter.net/BenjaminNorton/status/1499223187476856833#m
I’m active in sports. Refuse to purchase Nike products. There shoes are very shoddy and fall apart quickly.
Probably because they basically made with slave labor……….
I’ve always dreamed for the day that Nike really gets called out for their hypocrisy. Them and Apple who both use slave labor but are among the worst virtue signaling woke retards.
What’s the price for hypocrisy?
Hope to see what I have in mind as being just.
LOLOL…pot meet kettle
Boycotted them for years
lebron can go to hell
Sidebar: I love playing golf. That said, like many other corporate sport businesses, the golf power structure has morphed woke. Tired of hearing 25 year old multimillionaires lecturing leftwing right/wrong taglines, corporate media slyly working its political agenda into the conversation and corporate controls on player freedom of expression. All the while these upper 10 percenters (and their corporate masters) sport their Nike logo hats and polo shirts.
The war exists at all levels of society. There are no exceptions.
When I see LeBron tell us we need to do more for black people while he makes 10’s of Millions of dollars from a shoe company he allows to use his name while the workers are underpaid, well….it makes me nuts.
Those seeking reparations while basically enslaving others.
