Some students from Middleton High School in Florida were in attendance for Gov. Ron DeSantis’ announcement of a cybersecurity training initiative at the University of South Florida.
As the Florida governor approached the podium, he said: “You do not have to wear those masks. I mean, please take those off. Honestly, it’s not doing anything. We gotta stop with this covid theater. If you want to wear it fine, but this is ridiculous.”
The media immediately went bananas at the audacity of the governor for giving students the option to remove their masks.
The media is apoplectic (see below for headlines). Newsweek said DeSantis “scolded” them. Business Insider said Desantis “snapped” at them. Yahoo News says DeSantis “bullied” them. CNN said that DeSantis “yelled” at them.

Except for the bill he signed a few days ago that gave Hospitals immunity from being sued by COVID-19 injury victims (deaths).
That bothered me. A lot.
On the surface, yes. However, considering the number of Covid-19 deaths that have been shown to have overwhelming comorbidities it might have been one of those unfortunate necessities.
And this I get. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. It’s the whole situation that bothers me.
Easier than you may think. How many followed the protocols that caused death with Remdesivir and ventilators for that extra pay day in cash and prizes in exchange for a body to the morgue?
Both were known to cause harm and death.
“Following Orders” is not an excuse as pointed out during the Nuremberg Trials.
If you were told to follow orders or take a bullet to the head, you might feel differently. Under threat of death or severe punishments, I don’t see how it’s just for someone to be found guilty. The one giving the orders should hang.
How do you determine death when most have 4 or more comorbidities? Was it from covid or with covid? Were there vax induced reaction that contributed to the death?
That could turn into a bag of worms where lawyers make a pile of money bringing suits.
If the doctors and institutions are insured and there are payouts, then insurance is going to go up. This would get passed on to the consumer of medical services.
If it was due to a faulty vax then the hospital cannot go after the maker of the vax because the federal government has granted immunity.
All of this I know as my father was a surgeon and at one time I was married to another whose office I set up.
What is clear here is we have a terrible medical system. And I don’t think we even have “A” medical system. This whole thing is off topic so I’ll finish by saying there are so many who have no choice sometimes but to enter a hospital, which in turn seems to be more interested in bankrupting a patient rather than curing him. It’s about health no longer. Do we need them? Of course. What they have turned into is shocking. And that’s where I’ll leave it. Cheers.
After 18 days in the hospital I finally made it through after coming near death. A I tested positive first of September and was sent home. I asked for ivermectin and was told that wasn’t going to happen. 6 days later I was unable to breathe and was admitted to the hospital. From the moment I got there the Doctors pushed the vaccine. On day 2 in ICU the pressure began to incubate. I refused and was at that point told if my heart stopped they were not going to resuscitate. My heart rate was 188. Again I asked for ivermectin and was told by 2 cardiologist that ivermectin was a poison. Their treatment was remdesivir which began to shut down my kidneys. I’m angry that the Doctors lied. I lost 2 brothers in January. One developed blood clots an died of heart failure. The other with Covid pneumonia. While hospitalized several nurses confided to me that I was the only patient in ICU that wasn’t vaccinated. Any and all doctors who participated by denying lifesaving treatment are guilty of murder. The medical professionals know what they have done. They must be tried and if found guilty, incarcerated.
So glad you made it out of the hospital and are returning to good health.

Imho, Betsy, there is NO WAY in hell that hospitals can be tied up in lawsuits. That would be the death knell for them and would be a continuous flow of cases and I mean never ending.
Sometimes we have to make really smart but unpopular decisions. I have to support him on this one.

The government created the rules of the game and threatened them with probable non-payment for non-compliance. They did the same during the forcing of hospitals to not allow smoking on a hospital campus. They were threatened with medicare/medicaid non-payment for non-compliance

I believe the hospitals followed the Government Standard of care…to exempt themselves from legal liability for Covid care while getting paid tens of thousands dollars to follow a one size fits all covid protocol.

Local news, what I call Al Jazeera, had a lead in prior to commercial about DeSantis chastising teenagers for wearing masks. That was the big story for the evening news. DeSantis gets the Trump treatment in the news. They are desperate to stop him, they know he’s not a part of their team.

The slightly elevated tone of Gov DeSantis’s voice was likely due to his disgust at how kids have been treated in most countries over the last few years. He’s been a courageous champion for student’s rights unlike other political leaders.

This is an update on Freedom Convoy founder Tamara Lich’s imprisonment and bail refusal.
Her lawyer will seek a recusal in court tomorrow of the Liberal candidate Judge that denied her bail. But the chances of another judge in Ottawa not being a Liberal supporter are not good.
Tamara’s bail hearing just ended but Judge Johnson said he will release his decision next Monday at 2:00 am. A minimum of 5 more nights in jail. Liberal Justice on display but there are obviously other bigger stories today.

Our grandchildren are on a winter break from school so they took a little vacation in Virginia. Their school had just recently eliminated the indoor mask requirement. (Christian school in NC.) They were looking forward to getting out for a good time. Much to their surprise the vacation spots in VA required masks. They said they had enough of that and just came home to their mask free environment.
People will have to speak out and come home from vacation spots to move things along apparently. Their reaction to the mask requirement reminded me of this picture. It was drawn by an 8th grade student and was posted on Citizen Free Press.
The writer who claimed DeSantis “yelled” at the students must pee their pants as they flee to their safe space when Biden actually yells and includes clenched fists flailing about for heightened effect.
He treated them with respect and dignity and words said in a way that conveyed power. They incidentally also conveyed facts and truth. As an NP, and being in this crap from the beginning; all of this has been lies and a big terrible show. Of all the studies on masks, NONE have shown any usefulness from getting a virus.

I am obsessed with the new show Gilded Age on HBO. I just finished catching up on all the corresponding podcasts, which have been quite enlightening. The 1st season, playing now, is set in 1882 New York City, and a bit of Newport, RI. They began shooting in 2020 with all the new draconian CCP virus rules.
Apparently the industry, television, put together a white paper to fight the city, etc. on how it was safe to act outside. A lot of scenes with a lot of people are set outside in early NYC. There is no social distancing or masking inside or outside in the movie.
Venues that were shut down to the public, weddings and all other events cancelled, were then used by the cast and crew as sets.
If you are in a TV production the rules can be thrown out the window. Your life goes on as normal, personal and professional. These are the same people who lecture us ad nauseam.

I can say with personal experience that those BEHIND “the scene” have not been afforded any such liberties.

That is not true. Anyone working on a set with an actor, who is unmasked on film, has to jump through so many hoops to keep their job. Insurance and bonds are involved on every production & it is not easy for the cast or crew at all to adapt to COVID-19 preventions.

Many adult authority figures have done real damage to these kids. I’m sure Ron’s “scolding” was nothing compared to that of the authority figures who enforced mask compliance over the last 2 years.
I’m being serious. I think getting some of these kids to stop wearing masks will be like weaning a child off a pacifier. The mask does something for them now and it is going to take equally strong authority figures to get them to stop. Plus you know the people who have been pushing it on them aren’t going to stop pushing it.
It’s depressing to see kids with no authority figures around still wearing masks. Will they be sheep forever? It’s so sad. They aren’t our kids so it’s mostly not our business just like it was no one’s business to tell me and my daughter to put on a mask. Is it right to start saying things to strangers?

DeSantis is a one of a kind and tells it like it is. Covid theater!!!! Amazingly, a couple of the students kept their masks on. You can tell who have been frightened to the point they cannot free their face or breathe without a mask. It is so terribly sad to see kids who have been that mentally affected. This is EXACTLY why I support DeSantis over Trump. I voted for Trump and he did many good things. He ran on a “Drain the Swamp” platform but, incredibly, he just constantly added to it. His cabinet, starting with that worthless little bas**** Jeff Sessions was a disaster. That was only the beginning! The horrible appointments were many including keeping Fauci around, Christopher Wray at the FBI, Gina Haspel at the CIA, and so many many more. He was undermined and stabbed in the back by his own appointees. It was reminiscent of Abraham Lincoln’s treacherous cabinet; well documented in Doris Kearns Goodwin’s book “Team of Rivals”. Trump Cabinet leaks to the media were constant, destructive, and disgusting. Treacherous activity and collusion with the press was constant. I really believe DeSantis will not have this issue certainly to that great degree. He has more political experience and surrounds himself with loyal people. I believe Trump trusted too many Judas and betrayers. He got much of his advice from a back stabbing Chris Cristie. Another disgusting politician.
