It is understandable to me that elected legislators can’t openly condone illegal acts esp a party that calls itself “the law and order party.”

It is to a point but that has never been the case for any long lasting protests in Canada that impact a community, business, public road etc.
The gov’t only needs to get a court ordered injunction to disperse a crowd and it happens all the time in Canada caused mostly by lefties for either blocking roads so forestry or gas company employees can’t get to work; or for a railway blockage by an indigenous group and so on. Once a judge issues the injunction, the protest is officially illegal according to the law and the protesters are arrested or just disperse. The judge usually releases them if they promise not to do it again. Charges are usually only made in serious cases.
Trudeau skipped the lower level injunction method to officially turn this protest into an illegal act by implementing the “Emergencies Act.” This obviously gives the dictator far broader powers than a simple injunction. As the world can see, he can make almost anything illegal if he wishes like donating to a cause even if it is retroactive and before the cause was ever labelled illegal under the Emergencies Act.
Law enforcement and the banks are legally bound to follow the gov’t demands and the basic human right to protest is no longer applicable to downtown Ottawa. This act is the law of the land and was passed by a majority of MP’s. Hopefully it will be rejected in the upcoming vote but the NDP is expected to save Trudeau once again at the expense of Canadian freedoms.
That is why the Ottawa police can label this an unlawful protest.
In a nutshell, the StreisandEffect is what happens when a brand attempts to keep information secret but ends up causing it to spread like wildfire instead.

Everyone happy, dancing, cheering, all behaving, when the Cops opened fired w/tear gas on the front line of the crowd just about half an hour ago.
All day the cops have been facing pressure from people asking them to join the side of freedom, at least a few of them have to understand they suck for doing this. There was a firefighter in his gear, he quit and and sided w/freedom. It is what the cops need to do.
I used to defend LEO’s that are in bad situations, particularly those targeted by the left/BLM when another thug with a long rap sheet gets taken out.
No more.
I will remain as silent as those LEO’s that see this going on and remain silent.
I suspect many more will think and act the same. Once that starts, things are going to get seriously bad. But they will have to for many to finally wake up.

Police has no authority to declare it an unlawful demonstration.
The Emergencies Act has been invoked unlawfully.
Last a judge looked at it they said the protestors had a legal right to be there to peacefully protest.
Charter of Rights states freedom of assembly, freedom of association, freedom of protest.
I just read that premier Kenney of Alberta is legally challenging the Emergencies Act proclamation, as the provinces were not properly consulted (but then again, can wonder what WAS legal about this whole abomination? Not much.)
While it is a little late, it is still good news for Democracy. Hopefully other provinces follow and enjoin the Alberta legal challenge — just in case parliament (Jagmeet Singh cough) gets any funny ideas that he gets to be the next tyrant after Justin Trudeau is done.

Call your bank and complain that they are freezing people’s accounts and threaten to pull out all your money unless they release all funds; Call and email every single coward in Parliament and insist that the vote to have the Emergencies Act rescinded and all the Canadians arrested immediately released and all charges dropped; Call your local politicians and insist that the Vaccine Mandate be vacated in your province and town; and put as much pressure as you can on your local law enforcement until they stop answering their phones. There is power in numbers and freedom loving Canadians way outnumber those trying to wield their tyranny.

The police chief does look like he’s on the verge of releasing a massive amount of pent up anger as sundance suggested earlier.
His temperament (and ornery attitude) should disqualify him from ever becoming the permanent police chief. A police chief’s job during a time like this is never easy but he seems to be reaching his control limits after only a few days. He also seems to be on a political or personal agenda to severely punish everyone that was in or near the protest. He’s perfect for Trudeau and his Liberal and NDP enablers but certainly not for Canada.
