How can you obtain National Security if the nation’s Intel community relies on “Private Contractors”?

TIKRIT, Iraq (CNN) — The commanding general of the 4th Infantry Division on Friday accepted a U.S. military investigator’s recommendation and ordered administrative action against Lt. Col. Allen West, who was accused of using improper methods to force information out of an Iraqi detainee.
Following a military hearing, West was fined $5,000 over two months, according to West’s civillian attorney, Neal Puckett.
The punishment does not affect West’s eligibility for retirement and pension, Puckett said in a statement.
West, 42, will be assigned to the rear detachment of the 4th Infantry Division awaiting the processing of his retirement request, the statement said.
Maj. Gen. Raymond Odierno, the 4th Infantry’s top general in Tikrit, could have rejected the recommendation and ordered a court martial. If he were to be found guilty at a court martial of the two articles against him, West could have faced 11 years in prison, a military prosecutor told CNN.
The case stems from an incident August 20 at a military base in Taji, just north of Baghdad, when West was interrogating an Iraqi policeman, who was believed to have information about a plot to assassinate West with an ambush on a U.S. convoy.
In testimony at an Article 32 hearing — the military’s version of a grand jury or preliminary hearing — West said the policeman, Yahya Jhrodi Hamoody, was not cooperating with interrogators, so he watched four of his soldiers from the 220th Field Artillery Battalion beat the detainee on the head and body.
West said he also threatened to kill Hamoody. Military prosecutors say West followed up on that threat by taking the suspect outside, put him on the ground near a weapons clearing barrel and fired his 9 mm pistol into the barrel.”
IMO, only, I think he could’ve tried to run for Congress or senate first.
Did he just move to Texas to run for office? Maybe not, but only time will tell. I don’t appreciate carpetbaggers such as Cruz and the Bush cabal , it makes me cautious of someone moving here just to run for office.

Dude was born in Georgia! I am with you, lolli. I think Governors from the State they govern do a much better job, i.e. Governor DeSantis. He is the first Governor we have had actually born in the State for quite some time and it shows.
I know it shouldn’t be a requirement, but for me, now, our governor should love our state and have roots with communities. This will put pressure on those elected and accountability.
The rep I am voting for in district 23, to replace Gonzales, her family has been in STX since before we were a state. She, like me, has deep roots in STX and loves the people. Her family, acquaintances will be watching.

During the Viet Nam war there was a whole segregated army unit which sole purpose was enemy interrogation. I knew one of the units soldiers personally and he told me what they did to enemy prisoners. He seen his role as saving fellow American soldiers lives.

I have several Nurses in the family who have worked hard through Covid have gotten Covid nothing serious just sick a few days. Yup, I get that. What is quite confusing is that until today, the Ukranian president was urging Biden to dial it back accusing Biden of nothing more than drama and that all was fine. Now we read today that the Ukranian president is announcing that Russia will invade in two days. So my brain is tryng to square all of this, unsure of what is true and what is psyops, etc. (I also find it odd that the country that is, presumably, about to be attacked, has a timeline like that, but that’s another story.)
I noticed that peculiar bit of tell by the Ukranian President, too. Going back to the El Salvadorian President, even Ukraine is in on the charade – not like they haven’t been in the past a tad shady.

As noted in my post, it’s all very confusing. I wouldn’t presume to understand the complete dynamics of all of this, as much as some things certainly do appear obvious on the surface. I understand the last point you made, which I believe Sundance wrote about yesterday. But I don’t consider myself to be an expert on the complexities of international politics to presume to be absolutely sure of what’s up. I trust none of the players and am watching with a skeptical eye trying to sort it out.

Well, if so, apparently Washington state is way far behind. Got an email this morning providing the location and appointments available for a SECOND BOOSTER. The email stated if one had the J&J booster two months ago, it was now okay to get another booster. However, if one had gotten the Moderna or Pfizer booster four months ago, you could get another one now.
Were I inclined to take the time – and I’m not so inclined – I’d try to ascertain HOW MANY DOSES Washington state bought up in advance — just like Trudeau buying 11 doses per Canadian citizen.

I’m gonna laugh really hard when D.C. parents find out that the VA Governor is signing legislation allowing parents to decide, but parents in the DC public school gulag will not be allowed to do the same.
Bowser has to drop the mandates because DC restaurant traffic is down something like 60-70%. The tax rate in the District on restaurants is 10%, and it’s almost 15% on hotels, and it’s 18% on commercial parking…all of which get destroyed by the mandates.
Money talks. Fewer people will stay in hotels or go out to eat or visit the District at all if there are these idiotic mandates.

In Plainfield, Illinois the schools went to “choice” for the masks. The liberal mask wearers are bullying
the non mask wearers both in the classrooms, hallways, outside on the school grounds and on social media.

So, while the jury is deliberating, the judge in the Palin-NY Times lawsuit entered signed an order dismissing the case. The jury doesn’t know about it. He’s going to let the jury reach a verdict so the appellate court will have that in the record. I’m surprised he even let it go to the jury. The one kind of lawsuit that almost always gets thrown out is a defamation case against the media. The judges know what the establishment expects of them and almost always deliver. I didn’t think it was a great idea to bring the case in federal court in New York, but we’ll see what the jury does. I hope Palin can get the Supreme Court to take the case and remove some of the protection given the media, but I only have faith that two of the justices would actually do so.
