Many people were wondering who it was that preempted Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer making the announcement of his stepping down from the court. That answer comes today.
White House Chief of Staff, Ron Klain, was the one who leaked the Breyer retirement, likely in an effort to change the narrative of negative stories that continue to overwhelm the Biden team.
WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden’s chief of staff leaked Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer’s plan to retire to “a limited group” on Wednesday, a top Democrat told reporters.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Richard Durbin told reporters he received a “surprise” call on Wednesday morning from White House chief of staff Ron Klain, who “said that President Biden wanted [Durbin] to know that Stephen Breyer was about to announce his retirement from the court.”

I find it interesting that no one is talking about ACTUAL diversity on the Supreme Court.
Adding another black person to the Court does not add diversity. We already have a black person on the Court. Having 1/9 of the Court represent blacks, who constitute about 1/9 of the Country is about right.
To increase the diversity, we should add an Asian person. Currently, they have a similar population % as blacks have in this Country, but have zero ethnic representation on the SC.
Or add another Hispanic person. Currently, we have only 1 Hispanic SC justice, but the percentage in the USA is far higher than 1/9.
But… adding another black is not supported by the data, in terms of building an SC that is representative of the nation’s population. It’s only a reflection of those who are screaming the loudest and those that are cowering in response.
Seriously, there should be an American Indian on the Supreme Court if we want to be really fair about it all. Right?
