Hopefully last year’s warning gave all enough time: …”By the time we get to Superbowl Sunday, the price of ¹chicken wings is going to bring sticker shock to those who have not prepared.” (link)
For those doing the math, that’s a 51.4% price increase in a year.
(Prior article)
[NOTE: ¹More chicken wings are purchased in the days leading up to the Superbowl than any other time of year.]

Good, maybe it will wake up the drunkards.. Notice how there is no bug shortage. I hope everybody on this site boycotts the Stupid Bowl
Yeah, but separating the wings from the body is so tedious.
We should all tune in to watch the Canada Freedom Rally instead.
RSBN Headline:
More people tuned in to watch the Canadian Freedom Rally then the Stupid Bowl
Having done quite a bit of that in my youth, I can tell you that, yes, it is. But scalding and singeing the chickens is worse. Or it was for me.
The smell from scalding and singeing was awful but wringing their necks and watching them run around like… well, like a chicken with its head cut off… and slinging blood all over the yard, added a bit of gruesome fun to the task… lol
We’re not talking chickens, we’re talking bug wings.
It will be hard to wake up the zombies maybe when they don’t have gas, food, money they realize something is wrong, or a job!
I wonder if the price of booze is going up too?
yes – guarenteed
I lived through this in the 1970’s. We are finishing year 1 in a 5 year inflation cycle. 4 years from now your paycheck will have shrunk by 35% (minimum)
The next step is the Democrats start blaming Greedy corporations. Then, they try to implement Price Controls. Price controls are also going to be a disaster. It becomes an excuse for your employer not to raise your wages.
The final step is the Very painful recession.
Don’t forget the “windfall profit tax” that was imposed on the oil companies.
I was there, too, in the 70s. My mantra: I’m glad I am the age I am (65+).
Re “The next step is the Democrats start blaming Greedy corporations.”
Won’t happen this time. The corporations are in cahoots with the government, so neither of them will get or accept any blame. You and I, and all the other deplorables will be blamed; especially, the unvaxxed!
Ahhh yes… Those old “Whip Inflation Now” days.
I have been boycotting all sports since they started dissing America. I will Never watch another superblow(sp). My kid worked in a Wal-Mart deli 10 years ago. They always ran out of wings this time of year…. good salesmanship. The profit on wings during January was phenomenal.
I think it is called capitalism😂
I always fantasize about going back in time and have a huge crowd around me.
They ask: “What is the most amazing thing about the future?”
You are not going to believe this folks, Chicken wings are 3X as much as breasts.
And they stare back at me like I said, “He who has not sinned cast the first stone”.
Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet
Way more delightful to watch!!
Will Super Bowl fans be cheering for Let’s Go Brandon this year?
I take a knee to the NFL, ergo, the Super Bowl!!
I’m just imagining the rage that’s coming over the next 2 years. As it should, because these costs are that destructive. Maybe it’ll wake people up.
All ills used to be PT’s fault. Now the truckers will be blamed.
Yep. A coworker has Covid, no one bothered to tell me until I asked about her this morning.
The managers wife started complaining about the religious people not getting the Covid shot. I said people who get the shot get Covid, and I know of many religious people who got it. To which she replied….yes, but the symptoms are not as severe and you won’t die.
I then said….I saw an article where the paper had to print a retraction because it claimed a boxer or Gold Medal Olympian who died of Covid was not vaccinated when actually the truth was he had three shots. She said ….right wing news lies. I said it is in major paper that isn’t right wing. She said…..all lies.
I know it doesn’t do any good to talk to the hard core Useful Idiots.
Useful idiots are only good for testing the structural integrity of lamp posts before they are required to hold a more “important” load.
🙂
Prideful idiots just can’t admit they’re wrong and that’s the problem they’re wrong that’s all.
Sorry, but this is not at all the case. They really, really believe, with every ounce of their being, that anything which contradicts their world view is a lie.
Agree. They firmly believe what they’ve been told to believe. They have zero intellectual curiosity.
Rather than try to convince them, I flip it and ask them to convince me. I ask for the study, charts, data that supports their claims. Obviously, they have nothing other than pointing to those they parrot.
That is because they are unable to “think critically” and have zero idea of how anything really works.
Always a snarky answer for everything.
The snark is getting to me more than the stupidity.
How your co-worker gets better, soon. Hubby and I have been battling this thing for almost 2 weeks now — it is not fun.
Don’t know you….but you two get better soon….!!!!
Thank you! Me too!
That is something I no longer even bother with. It just makes you angry at the sheer stupidity of it all and they still stand there and say yep that’s right now get the shot. My ex best friend told me I should get the shot even though I am allergic, now there is a friend for you.
Gee with friends like that, maybe enemies would be better. Couldn’t be to much worse.
how about, “with my medical history, there’s a good chance I will have a life threatening anaphylactic reaction to this shot. I can’t believe you think I should take something with the possible risk of death.”
I had someone ask me what my plan was to stop people from dying 🤔 (during the “2 weeks to flatten the curve”). I would not diaper up. (I’m not sure who she thinks I am.) 😂 My reply: We all have an expiration date.
If this is a photo of someone being ahead of the curve about the current state of the economy,
@TheLastRefuge2
is out of the frame, already on the beach.
What that photo doesn’t show are the dozens of other economy “experts” who already wiped out.
“Frubes”…
Naw, they are on the backside too scared to take off, pretending they are waiting for the big outside set.
Frube: A surfer who doesn’t catch any waves during a session.
My clever mom bought chicken drumsticks at $1.99/lb. the other day and turned them into the meatiest buffalo ‘wings’ ever.
Supply chains suck. But moms rule.
DOJackasses going to start going after preppers for selling their stockpiles to starving Biden supporters.
Preppers stockpile wings?
Its possible
Preppers won’t talk.
Freeze them.
Right after the Super Bowl, they go on sale.
Preppers are smart and keep their mouth shut.
I would otherwise think that would be the moment where people would finally call it and not allow their government to walk all over them.
then again, there have been about 20 of those moments, and our lines in the sand moved quicker than BHO can say “thats not who we are”
guess we’ll see
The singing revolution occured after 40 plus years of Soviet domination dictating every aspect of life, including what songs you could sing.
Considering all the oppresive rules, it was really a minor thing. But, just like “Lets Go Brandon” (FJB) it was something large groups of people could do, to express their frustration, and avoid government punishment.
And, when the Government overreacted, and stormed a radio station where 13 employees had barricaded themselves inside, and the entire populace listened as the employees were killed,….something happened.
Without any co-ordination or planning, or organising, ..without a thought of “what will we eat, where will we sleep or got to the bathroom,..the citisenry, EN MASS, went into the streets and began walking towards the capital.
And, faced with slaughtering every citisen or withdrawing, the Soviet gov withdrew.
“20 such incidents”? there had to have been 10’s of 1000’s, in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, over the 40 years of Soviet occupation.
It just takes ONE, to unify.
Prepper rule #1 is beware of smiling strangers with an unsolicited contact and a sob story. It’s likely as not they are government infiltrators. Rule #2 is don’t interact without trusted overwatch. Better having the unknown in someone’s reticle. No guarantees but a little insurance is better than none.
Kinda harsh but we’re living in harsh times. And stay away from my chicken wings 😉
I hear you
I do that with thighs. Make them or buy them boneless, cut each into 4 or 5 strips, dust with flavored flour and deep fry. More meat, no bones and every bit as delicious plus CHEAP.
Bought a whole bird on sale last week. My ravenous teen got the wings, legs and thighs in wing sauce, made chicken wild rice soup for my hubby and chicken marsala for myself. Plenty of leftovers, too, so froze the extra soup!
Americans go without. Wonder if these invaders are getting theirs?

how about a citizens arrest? the drivers and flyers would talk REAL fast about who ordered them to do this.
I personally don’t partake in the chicken wing rush to begin with! No offense to lovers of poultry or the chix farmers given. I also do not give a rat’s patootie about the Super bowl….so there’s that too. I Save and spend my hard earned grocery dollars for food that matters
I like to cook chicken wings and serve with a salad, but you can do the same thing by chopping a thigh into 4 and seasoning the same way
Thanks for the tip!
Football died for me years and years…..and years…and a few more years ago.
Love my Big Green Egg smoked chicken wings, but the availability is about zero right now.
We’re going with “Big-chicken”. That’s our new name for smoked turkey.
It all tastes like chicken.
I’m with you.. not much on “wings” … as far as SB ..haven’t watch pro-sport since they all went anti-American…
🇺🇸💪👍
How about the price of popcorn?
Has there been a run on popcorn yet?
Actually there may be an overstock of popcorn since President Trump was cheated out of the office. FJB just doesn’t measure up to Trump on creating those popcorn munching moments.
No that’s an overstock of “cornpop”. Many people make the mistake….
Just checked my grocery database. Current price of 5lb 12oz Redenbachers jug is about 30 cents more, now 9.29, than a year ago from same supplier. I use an air popper. Good inexpensive snack. Good in stock, SNAP eligible. 🙂
I pop mine on the stove!
At WingStop, 10 wings is $10.39 😱.
Is the price for left wings and right wings the same?
The left wings are subsidized because equity demands it. s/
Yes, cause they have scientifically detirmined,….
there is absolutely NO difference!
Yikes!
I don’t eat chicken wings (dark meat hater here), but isn’t one wing like, maybe, two bites of meat at most????!!!
One can enjoy the browned skin covered with hot sauce and kill time trying to get the meat out. If your mother was trying to get you to stop playing with your food, she would never serve you these.
But wings are white meat.
I remember back in the olden days (the 90s) when we had a fancy place called Native New Yorker and I discovered the goodness of chicken wings. They were 10 cents each, deep fried and crisp, and you received a basket of crackers and cheese for free with every order along with the celery and carrots. I would take the ranch and medium hot sauce on the side because they would put crispy bits and grease in with the medium sauce (and butter). I liked the plain deeply fried wings because then I could keep them crisp and they were made to order that way. They tend to get too soggy for my taste if they are rolled in the sauce first, so I always ordered mine plain and then dipped them in the medium sauce, butter, chicken bits and grease, and ranch sauce. Those were the days. I need a portal back to the 90s.
Those were the days when wings were junk parts left over after the rest of the chicken was eaten.
When I started attending a weekly Chinese Bible study that started off with a potluck, and saw how chicken feet were gobbled up as a fine delicacy, I started thinking maybe wings weren’t so bad.
Still have never partaken of chicken feet. . .
My friend that used to own a KFC said they had to give the wings away to get rid of them. They would throw them in the bucket or box. 3 piece box would get three real pieces of chicken and a wing.
Maine relatives ate the feet. And pigs feet, too. Never tried ’em myself.
Chicken feet make excellent stock!
Awesome tobuse for bone broth, though. Google it 😁
If one compares the mid-90’s to mid-00’s, it was like the roaring 20’s. I did most of my world travel during that period, work was so lucrative it was easy to take months off and explore. Then, boom, the crash.
Food as survival nutrition wasn’t even a thing. However, spending time in Africa showed a different story, one I reminded myself of after the boom.
This latest iteration has been a real time capsule back to the Depression and the family recipe files and notes I have from that time when food essential to survival was a thing, an everyday thing. Need chicken wings, grandma would send my mom out to grab a chicken and wring its neck, pluck it and process it. With a family of eleven, they had a lot of chickens 😀
There was a time when chicken wings were discarded as “inedible”
I like ’em, but if you get boneless thighs and douse ’em with Frank’s wing sauce, they’re just as good (and not as messy to eat)
People are still considered “inedible”, but a few more months into the Biden Economy and that may change.
Lol, but you are on a ROLL today! 🙂
Eeeuuuuwwww!
But you’re right, every group that’s ever gone hungry long enough starts eating their own.
Now we’re into hints of Jonathan Swift and “A Modest Proposal”
The left has already started, in a surprise to no one.
I hope they all get fat off of their big meals!
Soylent green!
Is people!
So funny.
Went and saw Soylent Green when it was first at the theaters.
After seeing so many people write about it at the treehouse lately we had to watch it again last week. Strange thing we noticed in that old movie was how many people were wearing masks.
Just steer clear of the Donner Pass
No matter how you prepare them liberals will always be inedible.
Hahaha! Long Pig- its whats for dinner. Uh Oh… that good become a self fulfilling prophecy.
You know why they call it Long Pig. It is sweet like eating pig meat.
“Long Pig” is edible, but not consumed among civilized people. There are social taboos and legal repercussions to deal with, along with danger from disease transmission.
I will go vegan before Biden ever starves me into THAT choice.
My dear MIL worked in a grocery meat room her entire life. She took all the discarded wings and made the best chicken soup ever. My FIL named it Colonel Soup.
I, too, worked in a butcher shop for years. Nothing was wasted. Most have never seen cow tongue, giblets, pig’s feet, tripe, and livers of all animals. My grandparents ate kidneys and entire pig heads. Straight off the boats, they were.
People ought to remember why those first immigrants lowered their heads and gave thanks for their food at every meal…it’s a blessing straight from the Lord.
Pickled pigs feet, giblet gravy, souse meat, liver mush, brains and eggs. Nothing went to waste. I’m from the south.
My husband comes from hardy farming stock, lots of hog and beef farmers, all located around Lake Wobegone.
His parents had decided to make their way in the big city of St. Paul, all of 100 miles away, but every year they’d make a pilgrimage back to the farm on butchering day.
When my husband was about 12 years old he was included in the sledge hammer to the head ritual, where it took many blows to take down a full grown cow. He still talks with great disgust how the cow stood there, tongue hanging out, drool spilling out, just barely able to stand due to its impending death.
He clearly remembers everything associated with that cow’s tongue.
Later that night the same tongue was all cooked up and on a large platter, being served for dinner. Did they cut the large taste buds off to try and hide “what” was being served? Nope. My husband refused to eat any of that delicacy, and since then I’ve always been leary about what my MIL makes.
I do know one time I ate homemade soup noodles made from eggs taken out of an “old clucker” my MIL had just butchered. Egad, this city kid was totally grossed out by that little detail.
But if the day comes when there’s no more meat to be had that’s butchered by someone else, I will have no problem shooting and processing the animals God brings into our yard. We have deer a plenty — right now, anyway.
So true.
Its great when things like this happen. It aids in waking up the morons who enjoy their kneelers!
Is there anything that Brandon and “Tramsitory Inflation Queen” Yellen can’t F up?
Given sufficient time and latitude, probably not.
Yes; Putin’s Will!
Thankfully we not have shortage of, “Let’s Go Brandon”.
Sadly we seem to have a shortage of the more accurate, “F— Joe Biden.”
Yet I’m still able to pick up 10# drumstick/thigh quarters for $6.00, 10 super huge drumsticks in bulk bag $5.00 and skinless chicken breasts 7# for $9.80.
What happened to all those wings?
They went to sports bars.
The more processed the less available.
I’m now so disconnect from pro sports that I didn’t even know it was happening, Yeah!!!!!!!!!!
Ain’t it great to get your life back?
Gonna have to share. Take one, leave one.
Don t bogart that wing!
Lots of raw ones on the plat at our Dollar General Supermarket yesterday. The plastic wrap is sorta pressurized from the inside, but if you eat that bird trash meat and watch BLM sports….go for it.
At my Publix in Tampa , there’s tons of frozen wings but just like Sundace predicted ,frozen potatoe items are non existant . Same as canned catfood .
A friend of mine with two somewhat picky, elderly cats remarked on the canned catfood issue the other day. (She lives in San Antonio. ) It’s a bummer for the kitties.
cat food are mostly made in china
Who in their right mind would want to watch the Super Bowl and be subjected to all that propaganda?
Wanna bet the half time will have satanic references?
They did throw in the token white guy tho – Eminem….
This year I think they are all rappers – oh what joy! The half time show is all trash & propaganda.
Used to be I couldn’t wait to see it – now I don’t bother to watch any of it….sad
Dropped the NFL like a hot rock when they began pulling the BLM garbage after Ferguson, then started the kneeling and playing the BLM “national” anthem before games.
Used to be a 24/7 365 Patriots and Packers fan. Do appreciate Aaron Roger’s stand re the vaccines.
Won’t be watching, so not going to be searching for wings.
NFL, NBA, and MLB are all social justice warrior leagues where the actual sport is a secondary concern.
Super Bowl?
Haven’t watched a game since the kneeling started.
Done.
Forever.
SUPER BOWL?????
What’s the Super Bowl? Haven’t watched it in years.
Yeah, I pretty much stopped after Starr retired in the early 70’s; prior my dad was a big football fan so it was either on the TV on Sunday or watching the 49’ers at Kezar. I was never one to fall into lockstep so rooted for Green Bay. Good times.
Lots of people still like watching football though. Super Bowl parties have been a lot of fun over the decades though I rarely will watch the game and have to look to see who’s playing, no idea otherwise.
Not sure what the all time record of inflation year over year in the US is but if we just ended 2021 at 5.8% then IMO 15% for 2022 is an easy reality with the chance to get us to the big 20%.
Now add in interest rates popping to 7-10%
And these idiots will want to raise taxes on top of the 15-20% inflation.
And you have a crushing total on the low income and middle class of this country.
All by design and orchestrated by that fraud with the fake birth certificate.
I don’t see it stopping at the middle class, as we move into hyperinflation.
Sure, Pelosi may still be able to get her designet ice cream, at $150/pint, delivered to her mansion by armored car, but I think a LOT of those making $100,000/ year (Is THAT “Middle class”?) are going to be impacted, big time.
I still watch the Super Bowl and pretty much any other sport. I don’t know for some reason I separate my entertainment from my politics. I know the left doesn’t but that doesn’t seem to bother me. Why would I take anything they say seriously….If I need a doctor why would I seek LeBrons opinion?
As for the food supply. I’m prepared and have been since early 2020…
Its a matter of principle. Besides, find it hard to be entertained by a globalist organization who want me dead.
Wrap chicken guts on a stick, cook and serve coated with sauce. They’ll never know the difference!! Or, let them eat Cake!!
Chicken wings sound great!!!
BTW…. What’s a Super Bowl? Is it that thing where everyone kneels and people turn off the Tee Vee?
After the NFL has become another political machine, I don’t watch anymore. However, I will tune in for the Half-time show but that’s it.
Good thing chicken wings is an item we are WELL stocked on.
In my opinion, they should just show a replay of Shakira’s Super Bowl halftime performance, every year, until the end of time.
Does shoving her butt in the camera make her voice sound better?
WAS she shoving her BUTT, or was it her FACE?
She has a voice!?
With halftime show lineup, might as well watch the game. Pro tip root for Antifa.
Never understood wings. Lots of money, work and mess for basically no food. Seems like a scam to make money selling trash.
I remember when Louisiana tried to convince everybody that nutria meet was delicious… 🤢
Nutria, nothing but a big rat that loves water.
Nutria fur coats, too.
Not to mention edamame. Edamame is all the rage, it is effeing soy beans which is full of estrogen.
Try looking at every label on the food you buy. It is full of soy beans which is full of estrogen. That estrogen fed my breast cancer and is turning our boys into girley men.
Along with marijuana that suppresses testosterone.
Last week (much to my surprise) there were bags upon bags of wings at Costco.
In the past 3 years the 4 lb wings I buy at Aldi, went from 2019, $7.75, 2020 $8.75, 2021 $9.75, last week $12.75.
What is wrong with getting chicken drumsticks. Hell i know wjere to get duck wings and those are cheaper too
MARKET PRICE
sign o’ the times
Chicken wings are only good for those who enjoy a lot of skin in the game. Thighs and drumsticks, watching Intellectual Froglegs for me.
I love how these yellow journalists report the news as, “Join me for a laugh as we flush bountiful resources of capitalism down the toilet and usher in Venezuela in the USA.”
My rage meter is pegged.
Yeah. It’s all a joke to those who are wealthy enough to withstand rapid inflation. They couldn’t care less what happens to the little people. “Go grab a margarita and take a day trip to the spa if you’re stressed.” -Jen Psaki
The NFL is dead to me.
Chicken wings used to be thrown out. They were about 9 cents a pound when “buffalo wings” were invented.
Chicken wings and feet also went into the stock pot, right along with pigs feet and jowls, etc…
Don’t waste good meat/poultry.
We have moved to smoked chicken legs…. Brine, dry rub, 250 for 2 hours, apple wood chips for smoke. If you notice legs are 1/2 money sometimes a third of wings at the market. Always pivot when shopping.
The shortage will be wings, but not drum sticks. How does that happen?!
I have bought bought a whole roasted chicken about once a week for years and always throw out the wings … If only I could have seen this coming!
They might be the next crypto. Just sayin.’
Just a thought for perspective regarding the Canadian Trucker rally.
It’s been a few years but, I would moonlight at the local Walmart Superstore stocking shelves.
Anyway, if I remember correctly we would typically get 1 or 2 trucks in a day. Now equate that to the 50,000+ trucks on the road converging on Ottawa right now.
Thats enough trucks to stock 5,000 Walmart Superstores this week.
My point is this, we get so used to hearing large numbers thrown about we forget what they really equate to. Know imagine in your home town, if the Walmart did not receive one SINGLE truck for the whole week. We DO have the numbers, it just a matter of perspective of how much impact we each individually have. We moan and groan over elected officials and not having an impact there with crooked elections and all. But where the rubber really hits the road, we really , really need to stand together.
Similarly in my youth, and this was early ’70’s, I regularly hitchiked into Phx, coming from the west.
I noticed, every hour, semis coming from LA, headed east, with signage from each of the major grocery store chains; 3 trucks per chain, per hour.
And, it was 24/7/365. Again, that was 40-50 YEARS ago.
who in their right mind would prepare for the super bowl? I haven’t watched one in more than 10 years. Football is dead to me.
Good thing I don’t like chicken wings or the NFL.
This week we went to Sam’s Club to get a couple of flats of chicken thighs for my gumbo, but they had none. They did have half a 12-foot display of chicken wings at $2.97/lb and the other half was drumsticks at one-third that price. So we bought a couple of rotisserie chickens which took less time to dismember than stripping the skin and fat off the thighs.
Don’t care about either one.
There goes the annual Philly wing bowl
I don’t eat chicken wings and I don’t watch professional sports, so those inflated wing prices not a problem for me.
I’ve always been a breast man. Don’t watch football anymore. If I do go to a SuperBowl party, it will be just to meet women and piss off the beta males half my age.
I went to grocery store Tuesday and it is shocking and a bit eerie.
My GE is a very large one. The amount of product missing in every section/department thru out the entire store is troubling.
Hard to find items: spaghetti noodles. Little or none. Only 2 brands, when there use to be 15 maybe. In a very small section of one of the isles.
Crackers. Not a lot of variety. No saltines and very few Ritz.
Condiment isle from wing sauce, BBQ, ketchups, etc…dwindling down.
Juice isle (non refrigerated) almost non-existent. Frozen breakfast many missing items. Frozen potatoes-a few bags, mostly non existent. Frozen breadsticks, bread very little product.
Ice cream isle also getting smaller with less brand choices.
Dried beans not a lot of choice or product.
Surprisingly, meat seemed well stocked with most every kind of meat-including frozen Turkeys.
Another thing my store is doing to cover for open spots or not cause panic is condensing isles, bread isle now shared with cereal for example) taking isles completely out, but widening the isles. I also noticed them constructing new walls within the store (making the store seem/appear smaller and oddly enough building some sort of room in a few of the isles they took out.
One other thing to add. My GE has been busy on days and hours that normally they wouldn’t be. Which raises my antennas. I guess I can chalk it up to my county being red and we are well informed so are doing our best to prepare. 😉
Stock up, stay safe and get ready for the storm my Patriot friends.
