Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Hmmmm , but how is his Bedside Manner 😜
As long as he prescribes Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, I care not.😉
True dat! (Or even, true cat!) 🙂
I always thought bedside manner was so important. My dad was a surgeon and his patients loved him, but he was also a first rate doctor, having been trained in the theater of the Korean War. On the job training doesn’t get more intense or educative than that.
But these days with affirmative action medical school students being accepted and with a terrible decline in, it seems, the humanitarian instincts of doctors, bedside manner has been all but absent.
Having said that, 7 years ago I was extremely fortunate to be referred to a DO orthopaedic surgeon who surgically repaired my badly broken wrist. In hindsight I think he had Asperger’s Syndrome. He never made eye contact and was cold and aloof. Nevertheless, today I have forgotten I have a plate in that wrist, and the scar is nonexistent. No after effects, just as if it never happened.
While I deplore the lack of kindness in those treating people at their most vulnerable and most likely very scared, I’ll take a competent physician all day long who upholds his sacred oath and who heals to the best of his or her ability… and take my compassion from my loving family members.
You were so blessed to have a hero-doctor as a father!
And that you found a gifted surgeon to repair your wrist!
Nowadays, do incoming doctors even take the Hippocratic oath? And how many are “required” to participate in or observe an abortion as part of their “medical studies”?
And finally, there’s the Divine Physician, Jesus. Prayer can change things. Miracles still happen even in these times.
I was, phoenix. This is the sort of man he was and is only one example.
He was operating on a baby whose heart suddenly failed. He cracked his chest and massaged his heart into life, without question aided by that Divine Healer. This baby recovered and grew up healthy and whole.
Somehow the newspaper in our growing city got hold of this story and printed it. This was in the late 1950s. My father refused to have his name in it. I still have the clipping wherein he is described as a “local surgeon”. No story I could tell about him would describe his humanity and ethics more than that.
I don’t know, shamefully, whether the oath is today taken or not. Either way, there’s no good that can be drawn from it. Physicians either don’t swear to do no harm, leaving them open to their own ethics or the lack of them…or they take it and, as we see, completely violate it. As you note, on abortion? I’m sure there are thousands, many of whom go to Church on Sundays. I simply cannot understand it.
How I agree with your statement about miracles! They always come from our Divine Physician, and often through the hands of others whom he has appointed as His earthly emissaries.
God bless all those who receive their instructions from Him and do His will, in medicine or anywhere else.
Amen, sister! It is such a blessing to have a first rate Dad!
It was, G.
I’ve known a few physicians, ones that ask me about the revenue their patients bring in, and lament we will never be part of the 1% as they stroll to their BMW or Mercedes while I get in a Toyota.
Your Dad was a better man then most.
Very kind, JC. Our house was modest as was his car, very much unlike most of his colleagues. Though I have to tell you, your Toyota would probably outlast many BMWs or Mercs. I’d take a Toyota any day😊.
I’m sure it’s purrrrrr-fect
I’ll bet he had great MCATs.
Blast from the past….TV, 1953
“You Bet Your Life”
With a little Texas flavor.
Pedro Gonzalez-Gonzalez was seen on this program by John Wayne who got him into movies and an entertainment career.
A career was launched ….. Pedro was in several of John Wayne’s movies.
Very cool! 🙂
Cactus,
grew up in a VERY small town. Poor but wealthy in the good things of the time. We had one of the first TV’s, a cabinet Philco.
my uncle was in electronics in the Army, came home and opened a TV and radio shop. That’s how we got the TV.
Sunday night was always Disney, and my first crush was Fess Parker, (Davy Crockett). Mom never missed the news at 6:00 and 11:00. We never missed Ed Sullivan or any Bob Hope show, and I can still sing the lyrics of Dinah Shore’s Chevrolet commercial, “See the USA”. And we always watched Groucho. Great clip and memory. Thanks cactus.
I can echo your second paragraph almost identically except instead of Fess Parker my first “crush” (and probably that of 10 million other boys) was Annette Funicello…
Sunday night to us was Bonanza or Perry Mason. Unfortunately both were at the same time. The choice was never easy.
Groucho is great on that show. He is laugh out loud funny.
National treasure, that man
Got to see him with son Merle in 72 or 73 thereabouts
Small nightclub sized venue

Good Morning whilsting!
We could learn a lot from gods critters! Their kingdom is quite peaceful and in harmony 😉
Morning, Cat!💓
Good morning, Betsy. May your day be blessed today!
Good morning, GrandpaM. And I hope yours will e the same. I also hope your wife is feeling so much better.🙏 and that her sister is as well.
She is, as a matter of fact she is feeling so well that she is buzzing around the yard and making me work, too. LOL!
And her sister is doing great. We have stayed away for a few days just trying not to share the cooties.
But it is a beautiful day here in the Hill Country although the wind has kicked up.
Hooray!!! For both your ladies!! Our younger daughter and family used to live in the Hill Country try and loved it. Her hubby is a petroleum engineer and they were there for only a couple of years before the were transferred to Midland and are still there. Quite the change.
Yeah, Midland is kind of flat. But it’s still Texas.
It surely is!!😂
Good afternoon Betsy!
On yesterday’s thread (evening) bumped into Pokey. Seems like a kindred spirit as we all are. Like a new student in school?
Suggested Oswald chambers, spurgeon writings, and left an encouraging “say hi to Betsy 😉 “
Not sure if he’ll see my post. Hoping he posts again. In case I miss him, I’m Asking for an assist should he post again.
I hope I didn’t step out of my lane 😊 No one can welcome a newbie like you can ❤️
I was away all day yesterday, Cat. School run and pizza for dinner with our lot. A brilliant day which I’m storing in the memory attic. I need to review yesterday’s thread.
On the days that timewise don’t allow me to stop in for anything other than quick hellos, I feel I’ve skipped church! And my day feels as if a piece is missing🙏
Oh bless, Cat!!🤗 I’m glad you were at the ready to answer him. We were all newbies once. And no…you certainly did not step out of your lane. I’ll look out for him as well👍💓
Don’t know if he’ll revisit yesterday but I left replies for him all the same.😊
My hubby’s mantra for years, “You want answers, look to the animal kingdom”
Mornin’ FC, had a long talk with Dale last night. Wrote in detail in pop’s reply to M late last night.
Blessings!
Good morning, W_P, how about instead of a common ancestor the evolutionists consider a common Creator.
Yes!!💓 The same Creator who controls the climate.
Last stop: stunning photos of abandoned train stations around the world
https://www.loveexploring.com/gallerylist/80934/last-stop-stunning-photos-of-abandoned-train-stations-around-the-world
Lovely, nimrodman. There is a bittersweet feeling for me seeing these pictures. Once bustling, now unused, rejected, discarded. The old for the new and ugly. Such a shame.
Could not agree more Betsy. Like untended graveyards. The younger generations for all their “green enlightenment” have laid more waste to our beautiful planet than any other times or generation.
I’ve walked through some of the most beautiful graveyards in Britain, so old that the tombstones, many of them, are tilted and covered to some degree with moss and surrounded by lush vegetation. Most stones are pitted with age. There is a patina on these stones as well. It is an afternoon well spent idling in these sacred places just reading the names and dates on them many hundreds of years ago, imagining the lives of people who walked this earth as we do today…and recognizing just how short our earthly years are.
And there is solace and acceptance in this exercise. One comes from there feeling a little more at peace. So good for the soul. Thank you, oldschool, for reminding me of those experiences.💓
Betsy, you reminded me of a short trip we took to England about 15 years ago. We happened to have the time so we drove to Southampton and found the grave of wifey’s grandmother. She passed away in 1921 I think, while she and wife’s grandfather were living there for couple of years. The house where they lived in wasn’t there anymore. The road had gotten wider. But the street was still there.
Talking about bittersweet…
I can only imagine the feelings she must have experienced, too numerous to untangle. Overwhelming I would have thought. What a miraculous discovery. It’s a shame about the house and unusual in those parts.
One day we had a complete stranger appear on our Welsh doorstep. She was very glamorous, an opera singer, and we had just more or less finished our marathon rejuvenation of our 1869 home in a valley which ran through a very tiny village. Houses there had names, not numbers, and ours was called Plas y Glyn, translated as Manor in the Valley. She had lived there at one point in her life and asked if she could revisit it. We agreed, because of course we did. It was a thing to behold watching her as her memories came flooding back with stories of her time there. A gift for us as well as for her.
I second oldschool, Betsy. you have a wonderful way with words.
🤗!!
I think that was the only house that got mowed down, it used to be on the corner. We had the name of the cemetery but once we got there had to get the keeper to help us find the grave. The headstone had been damaged during the WWII bombings but after the war one of wifey’s aunt and uncle had replaced it.
It was really overwhelming, as you put it.
The only time we’ve experienced something similar was when a couple of years before that trip, We had gone to DC to the Vietnam Memorial Wall. That was the first time that DW had the strength to look for her brother name. Of course, we started from the wrong end of the wall. Wifey suggested we go and look at the books at the other end but it was one of those God guided events. I told her that we keep going, I just knew we’d find him. As we were walking by my eyes were randomly scanning the names. Sure enough Joe’s name jumped at me out of all others around it. Still getting goose bumps and foggy glasses as I’m typing this. PTL!
G, it doesn’t take much to imagine what that trip to the Memorial meant to you both. I know before I even started looking had I lost someone in that useless war fought in by our nation’s finest, I would have been in tears. Such losses…terrible losses.
And I have no trouble understanding why your specs are clouding over. If there isn’t an ache in every heart who sees that powerful piece in either person or in pictures, I’d be shocked. I can almost see the Divine Finger guiding your gaze. And standing with you and your wife while the memories and the times no doubt came flooding back.
You both will see him again. And you will recognize him even though he will be changed. I believe it is promised.💓
We sure will, dear sister, Our Heavenly Father has guaranteed it.
And to that I say Amen.
Betsy, Your description of your experiences reflect some of my own. Your writing is beautiful and moving.
You are so kind, oldschool. And I truly thank you.💓
I remember learning about carpet baggers in school. Had pictures and descriptions.
Now we see them all over and never give it a thought.
It’s like termites, someone educated us on termites and we prepare.
Amazing, my good intentions for you are nothing unless the results benefit you.
“I know best” should be only projected from Gods word and teaching. Anything else comes from your ego. Ego blocks all input from God.
Green energy? I’m fine with that but let’s look at some of the inventions that cost the consumer nothing.
We have ideas hidden that will never be used because men are glutinous, greedy animals who will not take on Gods spirit.
Our world literally littered with plastic, from clean water? Clean water! Seriously? It’s destroying our waterways.
Plastic bags litter every vacant lot. But paper is recyclable??
Well said palerider. We could make a laundry list of our naturally, often economically driven “recycling” long before the term trended.
Don’t forget the millions of used, useless masks, disposed of anywhere and everywhere instead of in nonexistent biohazard containers. If this covid virus is so hazardous, where are these receptacles? But no, they are on the ground, in the ocean desecrated with infernal plastic bags which interfere with and destroy God’s creations of the sea.
The hypocrisy and the lies of what is going on, plus the ignorance of these covid cultists who cling to every false shred of an insidious narrative cost us all in more than one way.
Amen. And let’s not forget the “rapid home tests”, very, very minor in comparison to masks… yet
I must tell you, Buck. Those tests worry me very much, given that, like the biojabs, no one knows what is in them. I don’t want to have to go there, but I believe it’s a legitimate worry.
Not generally someone who follows the blues genre, though often appreciate it when I hear certain singers and songs…. Somehow stumbled on this online and was touched by it…. Started to read a bit about the singer, Beth Hart, who’s life has been pretty rugged… Most of her stuff gets pretty loud and quite intense, which isn’t my thing, but I can still appreciate her amazing talent even when she sings those songs…. Anyway, here’s this one that I really liked…. A bit of a deviation for me…
Thx, Sarah . Nice, understated song
She’s known as a blues shouter, so that comes as a bit of departure to me
Glad you liked it. I’ve been listening to a lot of her work and interviews as well. In some recent interviews she sometimes talks about how, as she’s aging, she’s allowing a softer, more vulnerable side to come out. If so, for sure it was expressed in this gracious heavenly song. But she’s also talked about the extremes that define her personality as a result of being bi-polar, and speaks about the screaming and then sudden quiet, then shouting, etc. Bi-polar is a brutal mental illness and my hat is off to anyone who can find a healthy way to navigate those waters….
yeah, one of my best friends from teen years turned bi-polar at about 17 (the can be an element of adolescent-onset to it). watched him crash and burn many times over a lifetime
Bi-polar and schizophrenia both tend to emerge in late teens/early adulthood. Utterly heart-breaking and so very challenging to treat, in part, because it’s so difficult to get the person to be compliant with medication. But so much more is needed beyond that, though that is central. I highly recommend the eloquently written book An Unquiet Mind, by Kay Jamison. Her memoir opens a window into her mind as she struggled with being bi-polar and coming to terms with it. It is a deeply moving piece of writing.
I did the best I could do ..
But the best I could tell ..
The higher I flew ..
The farther I fell …..

Personally, aren’t we all?

RATIFICATION DAY – 14 JANUARY
Ratification Day on January 14th annually recognizes the act that officially ended the American Revolution. The day commemorates the ratification of the Treaty of Paris on January 14, 1784, at the Maryland State House in Annapolis, Maryland, by the Confederation Congress.
After the Declaration of Independence was signed, nearly eight years passed before the British and the Americans agreed to a cease-fire. As part of the Treaty of Paris, Great Britain recognized the United States as a sovereign entity.
It is the most enduring premise of the treaty. The treaty also defined boundaries, specifically the Northwest Territory, which included Ohio and the rich prairie land of Indiana and Illinois. The treaty also included Michigan, Wisconsin, and parts of Minnesota w. Several of the nation’s founding fathers negotiated the peace treaty, including John Adams, John Jay, and Benjamin Franklin.

WHO TRUSTS IN GOD A STRONG ABODE IN HEAVEN AND EARTH POSSESSES
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, and which now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
— 1 Timothy 1:8-10
1. Who trusts in God a strong abode in heav’n and earth possesses;
Who looks in love to Christ above, no fear that heart oppresses.
In You, dear Lord, we own sweet consolation,
Our shield from foes, our balm for woes, our great and sure salvation.
2. Though Satan’s wrath beset our path and worldly scorn assail us,
While You are near, we shall not fear; your strength will never fail us.
Your rod and staff will keep us safe and guide our steps forever;
Nor shades of death nor hell beneath, our lives from You will sever.
3. In all the strife of mortal life our feet will stand securely;
Temptation’s hour will lose its power, for You will guard us surely.
O God renew with heav’nly dew our body, soul, and spirit
Until we stand at Your right hand through Jesus’ saving merit.
Simply beautiful 1530 😘
Sounds miserable ..

Hope you mob don’t mind to much but I won’t continue Granny Solace tonight.
I ‘ve had a few ” hassles” myself and a few here are having to deal with “Stuff” As well, Goodaye Pop and take it easy, Frank you any better ?
I will just say goodbye for now.
I left from top to bottom some posts on MP 1 that I think you mob will understand better than most readers here.
I’m just going to ” chill” for a little and listen to the music offered here.
All the best from me.
To Betsy mainly and others I talk to here, I would recommend some tissues for the ending of my story.
Rest up mungrel.
I’ll look for your MP posts.
I’m stocked, Mungrel. I’m sorry that I’ll have to use them. You rest, and I’ll continue my praying that God always go with you in your travails and give you His great help in your fight. With heartfelt affection as always. B💓
Take it easy, son, and rest, we can wait for the ending. The anticipation will make it even more thrilling and enjoyable.
Yesterday, late afternoon, I played with my retirement present from wifey, a precision remote injecting or chipping device. Needed some very minor tweaking. Pop is happy, wifey took a couple of pictures.

Support the Human Cell Product Labeling Act.
Are you willing to prolong your life by using medical products developed from human tissue that was obtained by killing another human being? Put that way, likely not too many people would answer in the affirmative. But what has happened to medical research and development since abortion was legalized?
.
https://www.crisismagazine.com/2022/support-the-human-cell-product-labeling-act
All hidden, Dora…deliberately. If this passed, these “clever” “scientists” might have to come up with healthier and more reliable methods to develop new products which are less harmful, or perhaps not harmful at all.
I wonder if it is God’s curse that products using an aborted child’s cells have unending appalling side effects, including death?
Good morning all.
Down in Smithville, TN again. Another overtime day. There is talk that we may get another raise.
I hope so, rah. I also hope as things deteriorate in your profession you’ll be in a position to keep us all informed on how things are playing out. The government, all of it, is like a little boy who has a box of matches and no idea that they can burn in an instant and that it hurts. I hope when they discover it, you can escape their imbecilic foolishness. Stay safe🙏
Hope you get that raise Rah. From all the stories and adventures you share, it will be well deserved!
RIP Ronnie.
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.
“We are living in a time where Satan doesn’t even hide anymore, and the world still can’t see him.”
Yesterday as I was praying outside, I looked up into the blue, and I saw aircraft high into the distance… so high I couldn’t make out what type they were. The clouds, such as they were, were thin and horizontal. One plane’s trajectory was vertical, and its vapor trail cut neatly across one cloud strand to form a beautiful cross in the stratosphere.
I took it as read and seen.
Later in the day as I was driving, I looked into the sky in front of me and there was the most beautiful, obvious cross motionless and the clouds which formed it stayed as I drove, not dissipating as clouds do.
Make of that what you will, dear friends. For my part, both seemed to be a benediction which reinforced the assurance that as bad and uncertain as things are, we are not alone. God is battling hard against the rancid evil that seems to advance with no opposition or weariness. And for me there was great comfort in seeing those clear formations.

“I got the courage to say this. I got a theory that not one single person really cares about the long tailed kangaroo rat and they shouldn’t. It’s a rat. It’s a rat. Do you realize in the past 40 years, the American taxpayer has spent tens of millions of dollars trying to save that rat? It’s a rat. It’s a rat.
If that rat walked across this stage right now, not one person would go, “Be careful, that could be a special rat!” For me to worry about endangered species, you would have to convince me that we’re almost out of chickens. You see, I love fried chicken.” – James Gregory, comedian
